In our series, PREEMINENT: Hope For A Confused World From Colossians, we'll uncover how we should see, feel, and think about Jesus.

Paul's letter to the Colossians boldly declares how we should see, feel, and think about Jesus. Jesus is supreme over all! Existence itself was created by Him and for Him. Who He is and what He has done liberates us to live every day by His power and in His presence.

In Part Four of this series, special guest speaker David Perkins unpacks who Jesus really is: God, Creator, Center, Head of the Church, and Preeminent one.

Focus Scripture // Colossians 1:15-20 (ESV)

“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.”

Sermon Highlights

Who Jesus Is:   1. Jesus is God

When we look at Jesus, we know what the Father is like

Mercy, Power, Supremacy, Authority, Compassion

The right view of God will cause you to DRAW NEAR

The wrong view of God will cause you to DRAW BACK

Our love for God can’t outrun our view of Him

2. Jesus Is The Creator

We worship because we were made by Him and for Him

The Creator made you for Himself and He’s worthy of our worship no matter our feelings

And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together

3. Jesus Is The Center

  1. Jesus Is The Head Of The Church
  2. Jesus Is Preeminent

Jesus is not the best in a list of good options…He is the only option

The war of the ages is who you will worship
