Interview with Ali Richards

Until February I worked as a Systems Analyst contractor under the limited company but then turned freelance for a number of reasons, partly the new IR35 tax laws due to come into force in April and partly for a more flexible work/life balance. Summerley Digital builds websites, writes content, does SEO and social media for small to medium sized businesses. I have more than a dozen clients already and it’s growing every month.

I got into the website side of things about 3 years ago when I started blogging. As a blogger you learn about every aspect of building a website, online marketing, SEO, social media and last year a friend asked me to build his new business a website. I did that in my spare time, and then another followed quite quickly so I built it up to the stage where I could give up my day job in February 2020. It was perfect timing as I was able to carry on during as normal during lockdown!
