MICHELLE DELAHUNT BRINGS A MESSAGE FROM PROVERBS 3:5-6 ABOUT TRUSTING GOD. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO REALLY TRUST GOD?
God loves to hide beauty in mystery
A lot of people are looking for something clear and simple when it comes to following Jesus.
But rather than give us a formula, God gives us invitations into his heart.
The gift of tongues is just that. An invitation into his heart, a place of intimacy, of nearness, and of faith.
We read throughout the scriptures that where the message of The Kingdom went, power followed after it. We believe that power is not some special force that comes with magic words but is a person. The Holy Spirit.
What does it mean to be filled with The Holy Spirit? Join us as Pastor Andrew helps demystify this common Christian saying and brings clarity to this language and this conversation to help stir the church towards that reality. To break us free from the power of our will and lead us into resurrection power given to us by The Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is not a force to wield but a person to know.
So the posture we want to have is that of a beautiful invitation.
We want to invite The Holy Spirit to be who He is here in our midst with this simple prayer.
Come Holy Spirit.
Easter is a story we are all familiar with. And because of its familiarity it has become common.
But it is anything but common.
Easter has become common because we have lost our sense of wonder.
This is the disposition of the human heart.
What we need is not a familiar story, what we need is a fresh encounter.
Let us reclaim the wonder of the story of Easter.
We all know of stories where we have asked for healing and healing didn’t come.
Many have tried their best to determine why some healings happen and some don’t.
But when we survey the scriptures there is not clear formula for healing. It is altogether mysterious and wonderful.
For many of us the story we believe is that God is good, that He loves us and that He cares about us. But doubt rears its head into that story when we go through something that makes us feel like He isn’t all that good.
As uncomfortable and difficult as seasons of doubt can be, they are necessary to bring a person into a mature faith. Because when hardship comes and the faith has not been tested, it often crumbles.
So the goal of wrestling through our doubts is not to get to the place of assurance, instead it is to move towards the posture of trust.
Trust in the person of Jesus.
Everything was created by God, through Jesus. To know Jesus and live for Him is to find the meaning of life for which we were created. Austin Triplett from Jesus Chapel El Paso reminds us to make Jesus our anchor and hope, even when it feels like God is silent.
From our new sermon series “Behold: Seeing the Beauty of Jesus” Pastor Andrew takes us through gospel stories that give us a mosaic picture of who Jesus is.
