When I saw this quote from Eckhart Tolle that I opened the podcast with, it really hit me. It hit me so hard that it inspired thoughts to spew out of me that I felt would be very pertinent to so many.It is so important to remember that we are not our emotions. I realized that a couple of weeks ago, I fell prey to personifying the way I was feeling. I began to identify with it. I felt like it was part of me. I had forgotten that feelings come and go. Just because I was sad, did not mean I was a sad person and it would last forever. I see this all of the time with my clients. Narrative therapy is what I will often use to try to objectify and separate those feelings from the identity. When a person says they are anxious or have anxiety, it has become part of their identity. It has become something that has been felt so consistently that it is now a part of the subconscious and is a way of life. Narrative therapy suggests to separate these entities by objectifying them. For example, labeling feelings of anxiety and painting them into a character such as "the old lady" or whatever. That way, you can ask when they remember "the old lady" first showing up. Can you see how this can begin to separate emotions from idenity?Join me in this podcast and listen to some practical examples of how this occurs and 3 steps that will help to combat identifying so much with our emotions. We know how important it is to teach emotional regulation to our children. But parents, you better know how to emotionally regulate before you can teach it to your own children. Remember, so much more is caught than taught in our parenting world. Here is the link I promised to follow along with:https://cls.unc.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/3019/2016/06/Chain-Analysis-Worksheet.pdfI have decided to do a series on emotional regulation in DBT. In this podcast I talk about how difficult communication is between anyone who seems to be the cause of pain for you. What would happen if you were asked to give a speech and while you were walking up about to deliver it, you totally stubbed your toe? Would you be able to talk right away? Would you have the senses to say everything as planned? Not at all...you'd definitely need some time to compose yourself. Same goes for our emotional pain. We just may not have the words in the moment when we are "triggered" into feeling a lot of pain. So, I offer some helpful strategies around this, so you can communicate better with your coparent, spouse, child, coworker...or WHOMEVER!For more resources go here:https://linktr.ee/coachemilysanchez/
In this episode, I explain where I've been for the last couple of years. I have been chasing after a dream. I share 3 key things I have learned about chasing dreams. I explain my podcast's new name Turn the Corner.
To all my single moms out there, this message is for you. Single dads, just substitute dad for mom and listen on father's day. :) :)
*
Why does Mother's Day shortly after a divorce feel weird or different? I hope it doesn't for you, but just in case, I shared my perspective which I believe many share.
*
It is interesting that once divorced, you fall into the category of Single Mom. Isn't that nice that society has a new name for you? Subconsciously, this can feel like a different definition and even a different identity.
*
I believe this identity can enhance what motherhood means to you and is a special calling. As we rise to any challenge we may have, the Lord qualifies whom he calls.
*
Please listen in and let me know what your perspective of a single mom is. Link to Podcast in Bio. Episode #102.
I've got a little secret to share in this podcast that you might not be ready to hear. So, when you're ready...go listen! You won't regret it.
*
This podcast actually stems from a time in my life when I was struggling and I kept asking my mom for advice. "Tell me your secrets!" I'd say. "I want to know." She would keep telling me I wasn't in the right frame of mind to hear it yet and kept putting me off and putting me off. Well, what does that do to anyone? It sparks their curiosity and makes them want to know....NOW!!!
*
So when I made her tell me it started off with the phrase, "You're not going to want to hear this." Ha ha. That's not the most fun thing to hear before someone proceeds to offer advice. But, it was very simple y'all and you probably need to hear it, too.
*
On the back end of the podcast, I talk a little bit about what real self-care is and what it isn't. Interesting that the tough message from my mom is actually what proves to care for the self THE VERY BEST!

This is truly the come back kid story. If you feel a lack of motivation or continuation or cultivation or any -ation, come listen to this interview I have with my friend, Jordan Keith (@jordandkeith).
*
We are talking fitness, health, physical journey today folks, and boy this guy has had one...and a few. Growing up as a kid who was always overweight, it was super hard to feel confident enough to jump into the physical fitness world that the small town had to offer. Nobody really teaches you how to break out of unhealthy habits at that age, but Jordan exercised a lot of fortitude going into college to take his first steps in a healthier direction.
*
Next comes love, then comes marriage, then comes babies in a baby carriage (ok, that sounds familiar) and sometimes those things throw wrenches in the physical fitness area. We can ALL relate!
*
Then Jordan pushed through and broke through some barriers he never could before to get to where he is now. 11% body fat and training to GAIN weight/muscle. He can't believe he's stepping on the scale and hoping it'll go up. A place he's never been before.
*
Come listen in to find out his secrets on my 100th podcast episode!
In this podcast, I interview Noelle McBride, @c.noellemcbride author of "Beauty for Ashes: Divorce and the Latter-Day Saint Woman." I believe this is the first book of its kind! FINALLY, there is a great resource for members of the Church going through divorce.
*
We talk about everything here: healing, boundaries, forgiveness, falling out of love, dating after divorce, faith amidst trial, building ourselves back. The struggle is real, but it CAN lead to a new reinvented self through the atonement of Jesus Christ. And that's why I love her story so much!!! People, there is hope and healing on the way.
*
Come listen and then read the book whether you are divorced or not, this can give you the tools to overcome any challenge by using gospel principles.

In this podcast I interview my oldest daughter Izzy. I thought it could be beneficial to go to the source and ask how her experience has been with going between two households.
*
I can imagine that having four parents might feel a little much at times, but Izzy handles it great. She's a wonderful oldest sister to all her siblings and is a great example.
*
I love how she explains having two houses as such a great way of living. She is truly blessed but also has natural frustrations that come with the territory.
*
I know how parents worry about their children especially when faced with divorce. You are a good parent because of it! Please do not assume it'll automatically be hard for them or something they cannot overcome. Instead, take those energies and harness them into creating a beautiful picture of what their life is.
You guys ready to hear more about setting goals? Ok, ok, we all know how to set them. Start broad, narrow them down, make them actionable and doable.
*
But...HOW DO WE MAKE THEM LAST? There's some statistic going around that says in 2 weeks from the beginning of the year 90% of us stop following our goals. Ok, so that number grows every time I hear the statistic. Whatever it is, that is lame! We are better than this.
*
I have devised a plan to help you stick with your goals. It's a fun plan an exciting plan and a meaningful plan. Come, listen in because it's one of my better podcasts let's be honest. :) :)

In this video, I interview President Tim Overton of the Phoenix, AZ West Maricopa Stake. President Overton has been stake president for 5 years and a previous bishop. He joined the church 20 years ago while playing football at Idaho State University. Tim works as an attorney and law professor and specializes in inclusion, diversity and race relations.
*
I wanted to take a peek inside the training of bishops and shine light on what their role is while one is going through a divorce. Or, what their role is in general in conflict resolution. I was surprised to hear of the amount of resources available. This left me filled with hope for any individual who is seeking guidance and counsel from a bishop.
*
The Church has taken great strides in aiding its members with mental health. We need to remember that bishops are human and are not trained therapists. However, they can offer so much guidance and have direct access to find more support if you so need.

Remember the views and ideas expressed are not representing The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We are merely two individuals who happen to be members of the church who are sharing experiences.
Nobody likes to bring up tough subjects. If you are anything like me, you'd rather throw dirt in your eyes. But there really is a much much easier way to go about engaging in one.

What about offering apologies? Is it awkward or actually empowering. How about receiving apologies?

In this podcast I share what I feel are the top TEN things people forget to include in their divorce decrees. When writing a parenting plan, it's hard to look into the future and have things laid out especially when your kids are young.

What do you do if one parent will not give permission for your child to be baptized? This can feel very devastating as members of The Church view baptism as necessary for salvation.

If you foresee this happening in the future there are a few things you can include in your divorce decree.

Come listen in to hear my take on a few things you can do to dispel the fears that surround this. I have truly found some gems from past conference talks that have completely changed my perspective and I truly hope your worry will be alleviated as well.

Having the Gift of the Holy Ghost is probably life's most precious gift. We sometimes forget we even have it, though. We have GOOGLE where we can get all our answers, so we forget we have the greatest direction ever!
*
Our world is obsessed with self help books, diets, blogs, smoothies, gurus, podcasts (um ya, that's me). Everywhere you turn someone has the answer or strategy you need to feel better, be better, look better, dream better. Shoot! Our precious gift gets overshadowed easily, especially when we get out of practice of using it.
*
Snuggle up and come listen as I share a story of a bear, a dog, and how we can follow the Spirit in our lives. Animals in stories are awesome especially when it's death defying and about my awesome ancestor!
*
This podcast is for all my self-helpers out there. The green smoothie drinking, morning routiners, goal setting, self-improving friends. Sometimes we all get into funks where our usual strategies don't seem to be working. At those types of moments, I ask (in my best Chandler from Friends voice) "Could it BE more simple?"
*
With so much content and self help in the world, we can miss the mark. We make things more complicated, more heavy, more important, more...
*
Let's wipe that all away and get to the simplicity of what works.
*
I'm really excited about this podcast. I hope you love it!
Here's the deal. I know how loneliness feels. It can really suck, I get it. But, ya know what else is worse? Being in a lousy relationship or even worse, an abusive one. Sometimes once we're freshly out of that relationship, the sting of loneliness hits us hard at first and literally blinds our memory of how bad it was in the relationship.
*
We start freaking out and want to either get back into said relationship or jump into another one straight quick. Desire to be with someone can get so out of wack that it actually screws up our chances. Have you ever wanted something so badly that it just couldn't work?! Weird that sometimes when we want something too bad, it just slips through our fingers.
*
In this week's podcast I take a look at how we can change our focus from wanting a partner and why we want one into who we want to become for OURSELVES! There's SO much good to do, so much fun to be a part of, and so much life to live!
*
And to quote Madea, "I'd rather be in a corner with a puppy and a goldfish and be happy than to be sitting around with somebody in my house and I'm wondering what the hell they there for."
*

Image a world without complaining. Can you even picture it? It's too good, right?! I want you to start picturing it at least in your own life. Everything starts with one person...YOU!
*
Why 21 days? Studies have shown that it takes about that amount of time to make or break a habit. That is what complaining is....a habit. We have wired our brains to make complaining in conversation a part of life. We have to rewire it to break the pattern and then see results.
*
Complaining has been scientifically proven to shrink parts of our brain and to be very bad for our health. Let's reverse it's effects and see what our lives can become without it! Let's turn that decay into growth!

Do you think you can do it? NO COMPLAINING or CRITICIZING for 21 DAYS! JOIN ME!

While hiking in Sedona I noticed a lot of people without shoes. At first I thought, "they be crazy" then I started thinking maybe they know something I don't. I asked a young man why he chose not to wear shoes while hiking this uphill climb. He explained to me that not only could he grip with his toes, balance better, and slip less, but that it was supposed to ground you.
*
This stuck with me. I loved how that sounded and will probably try it sometime. But until then, I thought how can we all be more grounded without having to cut up our feet on a hike?
*
We know that strong deep roots help weather the storms that come, but let's apply this spiritually and even emotionally.
*
Come listen in to what I truly think can give someone the edge in feeling this grounding in their lives. It has to do with being uncommon amongst uncommon people. Let's do it!
*
Link to Podcast is in BIO. Episode #86
Lately it seems the only thing people can agree on is that we can't agree on anything. Our minds are trained to quickly block someone we disagree with so that in real life we start walking away from arguments or not engaging at all in important conversations that need to take place.
*
My goal in this podcast is to help you disagree productively, to find ways to bring truth to life and new ideas to life. There is a model to accomplish this while having mutual respect.
*
If you find yourself avoiding conflict to make peace, you start a war within.
*
Listen in to find out many steps you can take to drastically improve your conversations and disagreements.
You know when you've heard something that has changed you? Think back to a time when you listened to a story that impacted you enough to stir a noticeable shift in your heart. Luckily, this just happened to me when my new friend shared a very intimate experience with me from her past. So, I convinced her to share it with all of you.
*
In this podcast, Karla shares her stories and insights of how forgiveness is a gift from Heavenly Father. She expounds upon how after years of sexual abuse as a child, she was able to forgive her abuser. Her story is purely miraculous and through that experience she has possessed this gift of forgiveness that has helped her to forgive time and time again throughout her life.
*
Sometimes even the idea of having to forgive someone is too much to comprehend. But when we completely turn it over to the Lord, it is possible and can completely free us.
Do you love yourself? Do you enjoy being with you? This podcast is for everyone but it stemmed from some emails I received which had the same theme. What's wrong with me if my partner no longer wants me? How can I love myself if no one else does?
*
Sometimes it takes some courage to love yourself when you feel like you're starting over. These are tough times as it is and your capabilities are being tried and tested.
*
So, let's focus on 3 things. Stop looking in the rearview mirror, realize what God created and find out who you really are.
*
Listen in for the deets.
We've all heard of physical armor: shields, helmets, breast plates and so on. But, what is your mental armor? What are the things that help you break mental barriers and live in a peak emotional state?
*
In this podcast, I give you four things I believe that can create strong mental armor. I compare them to the armor of God, because just like spiritually, there is definitely a mental battle that goes on every day.
Have you ever thought something was too hard? That you just didn't have any more to give? I certainly have, but I was WRONG, and so are you.
*
2020 has definitely brought a butt load of challenges. But nobody is going to come along and solve them for us. We are the only ones who are in charge of what we're going to do to handle our own crap.
*
In this podcast, I looked to others who have changed the definition of what suffering means; who have defied the odds; who have become so mentally tough, they know they can accomplish anything. One such individual is David Goggins @davidgoggins, retired Navy Seal, Army Ranger, Air Force tactical controlman and ultra marathon runner.
* I offer 4 steps and some points to ponder from what I've learned that will prove to you that you are capable of so much more than you can comprehend. It is in you. You are the one who can do it!
*
This was too crazy of a time in my family's life to not document. So, I made a podcast about our experience having COVID-19 because of what I learned through it. Our little 6 year old must have immunity of steal because she was the only one who did not test positive.
*
A few things I learned: 1. The Small Things Matter 2. Having a strong coparenting relationship matters 3. Allow others to hurt with you and 4. Prayer is real and has real power.
*
I continue to be amazed at the love and service that exists around me. I know that the world seems bleak, especially with everything going on right now, but we can truly focus on what those storms can bring and the beauty during the process.
*

After reading Buzz Aldrin's book "No Dream Is Too High: Life Lessons From a Man Who Walked on the Moon," I thought it was too good not to share. This book is a golden treasure chest to the self help seeker. It is full of life lesson's gems that if applied, you could literally have a whole new life full of adventure and passion.
*
So, boys and girls, sit and listen to the story time of a lifetime as I share his stories associated with these life lessons. And hey, it saves you having to read the whole thing. ;) ;) But I still recommend it.
It's time to strengthen those marriages! I'm taking a break from talking about life after divorce and concentrating on what to do to avoid it! I wish statistics were not 50% of marriages will end in divorce. C'mon world, we can do better than that. So...here's how.
* Listen in if you: -want to build a rock solid marriage - know that your happiness and possibly marriage may be at stake -want to feel connected, understood and in love with your spouse -want to learn a brand new way to handle conflict which actually will bring you closer together -feel like you wouldn't be able to convince your spouse to go to counseling and you'd like change that could actually work now
* Whether your marriage is sinking or swimming smoothly, I give 5 strategies that can dramatically improve it. So, listen in...ya know...if you want to be happier in your relationship.
Are You a People Pleaser? Take the test in this podcast and discover if you might be in this category.
I explain that people pleasing stems from 3 things: culture, biology, and upbringing.
There are many things you can do to combat this in your life. Listen in and become a recovering people pleaser today.
Have you ever caught yourself looking through your ex's social media? C'mon...we all do it. It's natural. Yes, it's normal and natural but it's actually hindering our ability to focus on our futures and let go of that relationship.
*
So WHY do we do it? And HOW do we stop it? Pretty simple stuff along with some funny albeit embarrassing stories from my past.
*
So grab some popcorn or laundry or your running shoes or whatever you want and have a listen.
What if I told you there was a way you could know what you should do and what path to take in every situation and in every moment of your life? That would sound pretty good wouldn't it?! People would pay unbelievable amounts of money to have this kind of knowledge. Well, save your money and invest in listening in as I explain how we can utilize personal revelation in our lives.
Sometimes when things are exceptionally tough, it's hard to be guided and recognize what we should do because our minds have been quite frenzied. And what about our hearts that have been broken? How do we separate feelings from the Spirit with our own jumbled up mess.
Listen in as I separate and compartmentalize how it's possible to receive even more guidance whether you are going through tough times or not. This message is for EVERYONE.
This is the continuation of the discussion I have with a woman named Kiri who was a spouse of a pornography addict. Her story explains the complex trauma that she experienced as she has waded through the waters of the effects of addiction. Her journey through betrayal trauma recovery is still ongoing and she shares her message of hope and healing with us.
She is joined by a mental health counselor, Kimberly Day, who is trained in the betrayal trauma recovery process. In this episode, we concentrate more on the processes of healing and dig into how one can set boundaries in these kinds of situations.
My hope is that we can point spouses who are experiencing this same kind of trauma into the right process of healing that addresses the issues in the correct way. Email me if you need help finding the right path for your personal healing. Coachemilysanchez@gmail.com
Betrayal Trauma occurs when someone we are significantly attached to lets us down and/or betrays our trust in a critical way. Betrayal trauma recovery more commonly addresses the spouses affected by pornography abuse, infidelity, and/or sex addiction.
More studies are being corroborated to show that spouses who experience the daggers of mistrust associated with repeated relapses of pornography use and/or sex addiction are in fact experiencing complex trauma. In order for adequate recovery to occur, it is crucial to get into a program where it is addressed the appropriate way.
In this podcast, we hear the story of a woman who's husband is a pornography addict. Her journey of healing is inspiring as she found the right fit for her in the WORTH program. We also hear from a therapist within that program who informs about the terms and processes within betrayal trauma recovery.
It's so important to give a voice to those who sometimes become invisible in their spouse's recovery. These stories are difficult to share and take so much bravery and courage. Please join me in supporting her and everyone who's experienced this hardship. There is absolutely so much hope for you!

Hey, so we're in the middle of a pandemic and also have protesting, rioting, and looting...Who wants to talk about dating and love after divorce??? Seems odd to break topic, but I'm going to and this one is good folks!
*
In this podcast, I won't be talking about the typical red flags in dating like if he still lives with his parents or if he owns a pet boa constrictor named Clarisse. Although those are still smart to heed, what I want to present is what many mistake for love. Our biggest red flag is our own repeated pattern and those are sometimes hard to see.
*
So, what do people mistake for love? How about infatuation, desire, dependency, transactionalism, possession, and attachment. These things are not true love and so many of us fall into these traps in the quest for love.
*
So, come and listen to LDS DIVORCE COACH #72 with your podcast provider today.
Do you feel desirable? Do you feel sexy? Most times right after a divorce the answer to that is NO! We feel discarded and unwanted. This person who was supposed to love me and want me for eternity now wants someone else, something else, or nothing else. At least that's how it feels.
*
Feeling sexy is a mindset. Becoming desirable starts right there in the mind. You've got to begin by telling yourself the TRUTH. I also list a few steps that include BUILDING CONFIDENCE, EXERCISE, FINDING YOUR AUTHENTIC SELF and even...SHOPPING.
*
This actually turned into one of my favorite podcasts. Even if you aren't divorced please listen...at least to the last ten minutes when I explain that especially women need to get rid of being nice. Tune in to find out what the heck I mean by that.

Maneuvering the world of dating after divorce can seem tricky with children. Your kids just went through a terrible break up as well and introducing new people and relationships into the mix can create many mixed emotions and fears in children.
*
In this podcast, I give 10 tidbits of advice that definitely make dating while being a parent go a lot more smoothly. Ranging from timing to what type of input we take from the kids can make or break a dating relationship; or the relationship we have with our kids for that matter.
*
Come have a listen and tell me what you think. What has helped you as you have dated while being a parent? CoachEmilySanchez@gmail.com
What do you want in a mate? Sometimes after a divorce the question becomes, what do I never want to repeat again? Taking a moment to ask these questions of ourselves is important before we embark into the dating world, because we don't want to repeat patterns that were harmful or simply didn't work.
*
A few things I cover are recognizing our own part in the dysfunction, believing in the possibility of a great relationship and changing our pattern as we become aware of how we function in interpersonal relationships.
*
Tune in if you never want to repeat those mistakes again or if you'd like a few tips on discovering how you can get exactly what you want in a partner. It is possible!
There seems to be so many questions to answer when one thinks about dating after divorce. So, I have started a DATING AFTER DIVORCE podcast series. Here's the first one: YOU READY?
*
Are you ready to date? Is there a time frame to wait before dating? What about your kids? How will this affect them? How do I navigate all this online dating stuff? I haven't dated in so many years, will I feel awkward?
*
I invited my favorite guest, Yasser Sanchez (my husband) to help answer these questions and more as we share some of our dating experiences after divorce. He was definitely an expert dater and has a lot of helpful thoughts to share. As divorced LDS people, there was a lot of trepidation about dating again. That's completely normal and ok. You are definitely not alone. Hopefully, our light conversation will open your eyes up to have a fun and joyful dating experience.

If you feel like you don't fit in at church or in your social circle or where ever...good! Jesus Christ took company with the sinners, outcasts, displaced and ill. His disciples were lower class fishermen. The gospel of Jesus Christ can come alive in your life more than ever when you are having challenges that involve feeling displaced.
In this podcast I talk about spiritual intelligence. Much like emotional intelligence, spiritual intelligence is when a person forms their own relationship with God, their own testimony and their own devotion completely independent from anyone else. What enhances one's spiritual intelligence? Come listen as I illustrate 4 different things you can do that maybe you've never thought of.

Instead of thinking in terms of having an addiction, that 12 step programs teach one is powerless against, Zach asserts that instead, it is an addictive behavior and something that one can totally conquer.
*
Please join me in hearing what Zach has to say about his own recovery as well as the role loved ones, spouses, and even ex spouses can play in someone's life who's battled pornography. As a father of 8, he also throws in a couple of tidbits for us on conversations we can have with our children.

Lions and Tigers and Bears, OH MY has been replaced by Coronavirus and Homeschool, OH MY! Hey this is a real issue that I know a lot of people have made toilet paper memes about but it just got very real when they shut down the schools, and basically any other gathering of 50 people of more. People have major concerns, worry and stress over this because we are in unchartered territory.
*
In this podcast I've done my best to throw out an arsenal of strategies to combat anxiety, offer at home learning resources, and parenting tools that could be super beneficial to help ourselves and our kids.
*
We are all in this together to help contain this spread. Let's put forth our BEST SELVES 100% and get the job done y'all!

Remember the little shoulder angel and shoulder devil that would show up in old Warner Brothers' cartoons? Why do we listen to that dang shoulder devil telling us all sorts of self-depricating things?
You need to know that these thoughts are not you. They are just thoughts. And some of them are not coming from such a great place.
Listen in on how to differentiate where the thoughts are coming from and then on a couple of things to "UNDO" to knock that shoulder devil out! CoachEmilySanchez@gmail.com
This podcast is a direct recording of the speech I gave at the Women of Wonder annual banquet. I enjoyed being the keynote speaker along side the AZ State Treasurer, Kimberly Yee, and the President of the AZ Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Monica Villalobos.
*
Sometimes changing our thoughts just isn't enough to evoke the action we want. We must do it anyway! We must bring out the conviction that drives us, that attitude that comes out when the going gets tough. How do you maintain that type of driving attitude? I talk about 4 things you can do. Listen in and forgive the clanking of the forks. :)

In this podcast I interview sex and relationship coach Amanda Louder. If you know of her coaching and podcast Live from Love, then you'd know she is doing such great work helping couples create amazing intimate relationships.
*
Maneuvering a relationship after divorce, especially being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints can get tricky. Chastity seems much more difficult to uphold. Who knows how long one will remain single? What if sex life sucked in the first marriage and one wants to ensure a healthy sexual relationship in the next? Can this be done while still holding true to covenants?
*
Whether you're on your 1st marriage, divorced or 6th marriage, come listen in on the answers to these questions along with general tips that will help you spark up a more vibrant and connective intimate relationship.
The person is the last line of my action model. It is the natural outcome if your why to the goals and habits are strong. It is your result. Right now, who you are is the natural result of everything you've practiced up to this point. How you react, how you behave, how you are is in direct proportion to what your convictions are and what you practice in life.
*
But what if you start here when setting a goal instead of ending with it? What if you create the end vision from the very beginning?
*
Join me in episode 59 as I explain that starting with the creation of 'the person' is what can make all the difference in making and KEEPING our goals.
*
Search LDS DIVORCE COACH with your podcast provider.
The second line of my action model is PRACTICE. If you take a look inside yourself, everything you've practiced so far equals the result of the person you are today. We don't realize what is ingrained into our subconscious as our daily practices sometimes.
*
Are you practicing patience? Are you practicing compliments? Are you practicing time and focus with your partner? Or are you practicing yelling at your children? Are you practicing road rage? Think about what you are truly practicing each day.
*
The beauty is we can CHANGE our practice to accommodate who we want to become. Finding the why using the pain and pleasure index is my first line in the action model and is covered in podcast 57. Now we have the reasons, it's time to set the rituals.
*
Listen in and then tell me what your rituals are and what you want them to be. CoachEmilySanchez@gmail.com
Why do we do the things we do? Or should I say why do we not do the things we have in mind? * In this podcast, we are going way back to the ancient philosophers in determining that every action we take is conditioned upon the greatest amount of pleasure and the least amount of pain. I call this the pleasure vs. pain index. I will teach you how to use this index for every decision or goal in front of you; but not just on the base level, but on the spiritual level. * You WILL actualize your goals and desires when the reasons WHY are so compelling and concrete. It will just happen naturally. * Tune in and find out how!
After years of studying and practicing, I started to see some themes in my coaching that I use over and over. The concepts are actually something I've practiced all my life and as I share them in my coaching and podcasts, I have decided to get concrete with them and form my own coaching model.
*
It's all about taking action in your life and I hope you listen in and let me know what your thoughts are. The first line is the reason why we do anything: our pleasure vs pain index. The things we do equate to our practice which is our habits. Our practice leads to our behavior which is the product or the person we become.
*
You can start anywhere on this model that you wish to set goals, solve problems, or make positive movement in your life. Believe it or not, we can LEARN to create our own reasons for pleasure (any resourceful emotion) instead of allowing pain avoidance to override our subconscious. Listen in to make sense of it all and find out how you can put what you want into action NOW.
People love to give their 2 cents. Advice after divorce comes out of the mouths of everyone. They have good intentions, but taking divorce advice from family and friends is like taking medical advice from them.
I have come up with a list of what I consider to be the top ten worst divorce advice I have encountered. By going through the bad, we can learn what not to do and sometimes that's the best 'advice' we need.
I hope you can learn from this and be as entertained by it as I was. Let me know what the worst divorce advice you received was! CoachEmilySanchez@gmail.com
With this time of year comes a lot of goal setting chatter. Goals are great, right?! We should be stretching ourselves, getting better, and progressing toward something. But how often are goals started in January and by February you can't even remember what your goal was.
I've been in a gym January 1st and have seen with my own eyes the influx of people there ony to also see the mass exodus two weeks later. I see this every year.
What is it in the human psyche that causes it? Or what is lacking? The answer is identity. Join me in this podcast as I outline three ways to make the goals we want become a part of who we are.
CoachEmilySanchez@gmail.com www.coachemilysanchez.com
In this podcast I explain three ways that will bring us closer to God who offers all healing, clarity and purpose. Look in, look up and look out. He will wipe away all tears as we seek Him in our lives.

"Man, I hope I don't run into my ex!" is a super common thought after breakup. It's awkward, right?! I remember hiding in a grocery store years ago avoiding an ex boyfriend....LAME.
Why are we fearful of this? It's natural to feel awkward and weird around someone we once were so intimate with. We go from knowing everything about a person to supposed strangers it seems.
In this podcast I offer a couple of strategies one can use to take away the worry, fear, awkwardness, and whatever else. For those of us who coparent together, I've got a tool you can use there as well. Shout out to my gymnastics teacher, JoAnne DeKeuster who has no idea she helped me with this.
What would happen if you got rid of your expectations? What if any difficult encounter or conversation you had to make was met with a blank slate about how the other would react? I'll tell you what would happen...more peace, more happiness, more clarity, more independence! Sound good to you??? Then have a listen.
This podcast focuses on the benefits and the how to's of getting rid of those expectations. It is something that proves to be difficult to rid ourselves of, but with practice is actually something totally doable!
I invite you to come find out how! Email me at coachemilysanchez@gmail.com and let me know what you think.
After practicing family law for over 25 years, founder Heidi Webb concluded that the traditional legal process for divorce did not adequately meet clients’ needs. She therefore developed The Consilium® Process and founded Consilium® Divorce Consultations, which encompasses not only legal advice, but also life planning strategies, as well as emotional, financial and logistical support during this critical life transition. Since that time, Divorce Consultations has helped hundreds of clients effectively navigate their paths, through divorce and into their next life stage.
Dissolution to Evolution is a book and a workbook, that describes and details the Consilium Process, developed to help people considering divorce to simultaneously create a parallel path of personal growth. The book highlights common scenarios, presents thoughtful options and constructs optimal outcomes. The workbook helps people structure and pre-think their process so that logic can prevail during a time fraught with high emotion.
You can get the book and sign up for her blog at www.theconsiliumpath.com. Thank you Heidi Webb for the great interview and vital information!
My good friend teaches a leadership class where blended families was the topic. He had the kids watch the movie Step-Mom starring Julia Roberts and Susan Sarandon. He then asked them a series of questions about it. Knowing what I do, he told me what his plans were and I said, "record them!" So, here we step into the chaos of a Junior High classroom and hear real answers, no filter from the kids. It's interesting to hear what they think are causes of divorce, what dynamic occurs when a new person enters the family, and what traditions their parents have that they love.
Are you married and just not that into it? Or, are you just annoyed? Do you want more spark? Are you at your whits end? Whatever the case may be, I have three major things you could do to totally shift the relationship.
After experiencing divorce, many times one parent stays active and clings to their faith while the other falls away. The stress and worry that parents feel at the time of a divorce is mostly centered around how their child or children will feel coping with divorce. This worry is amplified in the active coparent when the other parent leaves the church. Will my child still gain their own testimony? Will they resent me for having them go to church? Will they resent the other parent for not going? Will they lose their faith?
This podcast is made with the view and hopes of the active parent. Come listen to an inspiring true story of a faithful mother who discovered that rich blessings were indeed waiting when she just did what was in her control.
So, your one year anniversary of your divorce or wedding is coming up. Oh no! You're going to be so sad, right? This is so traumatic and terrible, it's like reliving it in your mind again. Ok...NO!!! That way of thinking is so detrimental to growth and change. Please don't set yourself up for bad days. Set yourself up for good!
What is the step-parent's role? Should they contribute to the disciplining of children? Should the children call the parent mom or dad or just by their name? When entering a marriage that's a package deal, being a step-parent can feel frustrating and overwhelming. In this podcast, I focus on 5 points of parenting that is crucial for the step-parent to understand. If you are a step-parent or know someone who is, please listen and share as this topic should be high priority when the benefit of the child is concerned.
In our language there are words that add power to a sentence and words that take that power right out. If our thoughts determine our feelings, then we need to start to notice which words are adding power and which words are the weasels we need to eliminate. In this podcast I use some examples from the scriptures to illustrate the amazing influence that those certain words can have. This podcast is one of my favorites and if you need a boost today, you'll get it by listening. I hope you enjoy this concept as much as I do! Let me know at CoachEmilySanchez@gmail.com
Is it possible to be happy even during our darkest times? There are times when not much can comfort or take us up out of the fog of our circumstances. Positive thinking and the whole "this too shall pass" attitude just is not enough. There ARE a few things you can do to feel better even today. The main component is shifting our focus. There is so much good in the world. There is so much joy and light...we just need to notice it's there. Let me teach you how!
coachemilysanchez@gmail.com www.coachemilysanchez.com
Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly! Say WHAT?!?! You heard me! When I first heard this concept I had trouble with it, because I had always been taught that you give your all or nothing at all. You are supposed to do your best every second, right?! Well, sometimes you feel so depleted, sometimes you are sick, sometimes...crap happens! It's in these types of moments or just simply if we're having an off day to remember, something is better than nothing. Our 10% of trying is better than 0% of nothing. Grab your head phones, ear pods, a pile of laundry to fold and turn the volume up to listen up. Let me know what you think! CoachEmilySanchez@gmail.com. Check out my website www.CoachEmilySanchez.com. Peace out!
Have you ever heard of situational stress? It's different from having general anxiety. It happens when you get stressed out about a recurring situation. I bet you almost everyone has experienced it! Ever had to public speak? Or perform on a big stage? Or maybe it's something smaller like finding a place to park. How about seeing your ex? Sometimes these things trigger stress. Mark and Magali Peyshia from Strategic Intervention have taught me an awesome strategy that will knock this stress out! Come join me and find out how you can do it, too.
In this podcast, I continue on a few things I learned from Brooke Castillo. She offers 4 tips that will fix any problem within a relationship. I apply it to the coparenting relationship and how her strategies can be executed within that. So, if you want to improve any relationship or fix any problem within it, take a few minutes to listen for lasting results. I love this one so much!!!
In this podcast I explain in detail Brooke Castillo's model that she teaches all of her students. She is the founder of The Life Coach School. This information has changed so many lives. It puts the power right into your hands as you learn you have complete control about how you want to think and feel about your world and yourself. What an invaluable tool it has been for me to learn from her! Go through your model yourself! Try it out and see how your life can drastically improve! Email me at CoachEmilySanchez@gmail.com
Ever heard of the term "disneyland dad"? It is so common there are legal definitions of it. We've all heard of it and many of us experience some form of it in our lives even if we aren't divorced, right?! There's the disneyland dad, the disneyland mom, the disneyland grandma, the disneyland aunt. It occurs when one parent or relative completely spoils our child/children, showers them with gifts or whatnot, has their own sets of rules for them and then we are the ones left with the kids when the party's over, so to speak. This phenomenon is especially difficult in high conflict divorce situations, when trying our best to offer our children the consistency they need as they go from home to home. So, what can be done? Well, there are a few things, so DON'T LOSE HOPE! Come have a listen and let me know what you think!!! CoachEmilySanchez@gmail.com
This podcast was made after I was interviewed by the magazine, Mujeres Unicas. I'm very privileged to have had the opportunity to be featured in their magazine as they spread the word about women in the area, how we can come together, and strengthen each other and our communities. I was asked specifically what I do in my business, why and how, and also questions about my personal life. I feel so blessed to be helping women (and men) navigate the waters of divorce and finding a future they can be excited about. Email me your thoughts or questions at CoachEmilySanchez@gmail.com.

Fear of failure, inadequacy, complacency or any number of things can hold one back from accomplishing what they really want to DO. The "how" will figure itself out in the "DOING." As we forge ahead and just go and do, confidence grows, and learning takes place. We live in the information age where the 'how' is everywhere and we need not worry too much about it. Just get it done! CoachEmilySanchez@gmail.com

Sometimes a little help is all we need and I know this podcast can help you to stop turning back and to keep the gaze forward.
After a divorce or breakup emotions can get the better of us. Sometimes defeat can set in without even noticing it. Many people end up "divorcing themselves" so to speak as well and lose sight of who they are and who they can be and what they are capable of. By choosing to invest in ourselves, accepting our situations, and focusing on what matters, we can accomplish great things. We can leave those defeated feelings behind and experience a true rebirth.

To understand others and ourselves, we need to know what needs are being met and unmet. This description of our six human needs can help you evaluate what your top needs are. Also, as we become more aware of these needs, we can understand how we meet them in good ways or perhaps destructive ways. What are your top two human needs? Identity is everything! It is human nature for our behavior to be consistent to who we believe we are. If we believe we are athletes, we will exercise. If we believe we are honest, our actions will have integrity. If we believe we are good parents, we will stop at nothing to offer the best we can to our children. After loss or hardship, it is easy to forget who we truly are inside. As we realize that we have a choice to become who we always were meant to be, great things can truly be accomplished. It is not so much as a change as it is an unveiling of who we truly are. CoachEmilySanchez@gmail.com
