Bryan Fischer here with today’s Life and Liberty Minute. President Trump caved to Nancy Pelosi on the State of the Union speech last week. Why? Look no further than the spineless Republicans in the Senate. Led by Mitch McConnell, the Senate was just about to flee the president enmasse over the shutdown. The president decided it was better to surrender to the opposition than to be betrayed by his own team. So once again, the president is standing alone as the only political hope for American conservatives. He still has three powerful weapons in his arsenal. One, he can stock the federal judiciary, including the Supreme Court, with constitutional conservatives, which will impact jurisprudence for decades to come. Two, he can veto bad legislation and dare Republican renegades to vote with the Democrats against their own president. And three, he still has the base, who will stand with him as long he stands for the wall.
