DECEPTION HQ/ MANIFEST
A label, which holds up the dark tech of Drum & Bass, with releases from the likes of Manifest, BTK, Meth, Raiden, Verb, Genotype, Gremlinz, plus new up and coming Artist Demigroove, they’ve infected the drum & bass scene whilst championing a sound taken from its darkest corners. Alongside a roster of artists who won’t sacrifice their inner production demons for commercial success, time and time again they swim against the tide with menacingly infused records, which grit their teeth. The Label started as an offshoot from their ‘Deception Podcast’ to promote music, the project soon becoming a raving success, with listeners subscribing from every sphere. Since then, they’ve gone from strength to strength, ever biding their time to release music onto an unsuspecting audience. And between each release, the people, following their output is slowly growing.
Deception Recordings is back for another climatic. For this release, BTK, Cold Fusion and Manifest come together to bring you two brand new selections on the label. With a friendship which spans over ten years, being an integral part of the Renegade Hardware Crew, BTK, Cold Fusion and Manifest join forces for a three-way collaboration EP on Deception Recordings. ‘Daybreak’ and ‘Surge’ are guaranteed to cause dancefloor annihilation and on first listen it’s easy to hear the history between each of the three artists.
Beginning the first of two tracks is ‘Daybreak’. With heavy drum work, the type of which give the track a serious weight as it crashes into fruition, you become instantly aware of the power which all three artists conjure when they put together their undeniable production standards. Bit by bit you’re taken along for the titanic ride, one engineered with gyrating hooks and a bassline which cuts through the mix undeterred. There’s also intricacy within its madness and before long you’re fully taken along for the ride.
Next up you’re welcomed into the world of ‘Surge’. Following its forerunner, the thumping kick drums punch through the composition, building layer by layer until it becomes impossible to escape from the freight-train like qualities of this track; it’s one which ensures it never steers away from being the top quality you’d expect from these producers.

Deception Recordings has often been signposted as a pillar of the darker drum & bass community. They’ve time and time again shown that their selection and commitment to the harder to find, nastier subsections of dance music are some of the most aggressive, yet technically defined, cuts which make themselves present in the sets of the scene’s underworld. Defining themselves as dedicated to the ‘dark tech of neuro rollers’, they’ve welcomed the likes of Manifest, BTK, Meth, Raiden, Verb, Genotype, Gremlinz and Demigroove into their space, infecting their world with only the most cut-throat records.
An offshoot of the ‘Deception Podcast’, the label has prided itself in delivering the type of music they’ve showcased from the beginning. Subscribers to the podcast soon became avid listeners of the label and their imprint’s releases have been steadily expanding - and so has their roster of artists; a brand-new producer they’ve introduced to their listenership is Shibumi, hailing from San Francisco and delivering the vibes Deception are renowned for. The two-track single, ‘Monitor’ and ‘Deviant’, was introduced to the heads of Deception by Demigroove, who’s already demonstrated his prowess through his own output on the label. With Shibumi comes a different sound, adding another dimension to Deception and showing their penchant for finding new talent.
‘Monitor’ begins with rumbles of bass, before its clicking hi-hats lull you into a false sense of security. Seasoned drum & bass fans will know what this means – you’re about to be dropped through a cataclysmic hole, one whose depth is emphasised through pumping drum relays. The impact of ‘Monitor’ is moody and ruminating, yet you’re still left to feel its weight throughout each sixteen bars. ‘Deviant’ weaves you through its tinny drums and throbbing subs, allowing a slight reprieve before your once again caught up in the minimal, yet expansive and smashing soundscapes of Shibumi.
Shibumi reveals the versatility of sounds being created across the Atlantic; it’s not just the stadium-led drum & bass which is shaping the American scene’s foundations. Deception Recordings is watching this wave carefully and delivering the very best of it for their label.

MANIFEST - DECEPTION PODCAST #10 - VARIOUS ARTISTS
Deception returns Upgraded, with a new podcast for 2018. Manifest comes back with a new mix showcasing his new forthcoming single forthcoming “Tank Girl & Rolling Down Ft: Joy Sutherland” on Deception Recordings this spring. Deception has been planning the next Chapter for the label, which you can hear on this Podcast. The Artist Demigroove, who is building a name for himself shows his production skills on his remix of “Untamed Warrior” By Manifest, Meth & 2Shy (Dub). Another track forthcoming, which is also on this podcast is the Collab between BTK, Cold Fusion & Manifest entitled “Day Break. The Label has evolved over the years, which you will hear on the podcast. We still keep love our “Grimey & Dirty” Beats, but believe you should evolve with the current times and Listen to Various Sounds & Styles of DnB.
