Hannah Brown and Chris McLeish are two creatives from the Gothic city, Glasgow. Their fascination with all things gothic began at a young age but now as twenty-somethings they want to share their thoughts and feelings.
From murder to literature, ghosts to architecture and maybe even the occasional film chat, they've got all your gothic interests covered.

This week we shake things up a but with a slightly different format. You'll continue to get two stories per episode but the nonsense chat at the start will be briefer so we can focus on the Scottish gothic business. We have also introduced Red Break, an interval between stories where we give a recommendation each. We're talking books, TV, podcasts, places to visit. The works!

This week Chris and Hannah are back in action with stories of the Scottish folklore of the Selkie, stories from around the world about similar water based legends and the mysterious possibility that post Prince Albert (steady) Queen Vicky went on to secretly marry another man.
This time on AWBG Hannah and Chris cover the mysterious and slightly haunting Cotard Delusion and a man previously mentioned, John Rae. John is a much forgotten figure in the discovery of the Northwest Passage.

This week we kick off with a bit of musical theatre chat before heading in to our stories. Hannah takes us down into the depths of Mary Kings Close, Edinburgh. Tales of murder, ghosts and folk flingin' poop out their windows. Chris than give two brief stories about some badass women. Starting with Mata Hari who was falsely accused of operating as a spy during WW1 before then telling the excellent (and hopefully true) story of the assassin responsible for killing King Kenneth II.

Hannah takes on her first ever solo episode by telling you all M.R. James' haunting story Oh, Whistle, And I'll Come To You, My Lad. The story was read at a Christmas gathering in 1903 then published the following year as part of the anthology Ghost Stories of an Antiquary. The title of the story is taken from a 1793 poem by Robert Burns written to an old Scottish air.
