The Chickasaw Nation has joined in a venture that has proposed development of not just a casino but a major entertainment venue that proponents say would be transformative.
The Coney is a 3-billion-dollar private investment that when built will transform the entertainment district in Coney Island and assist in the economic revitalization of the surrounding neighborhoods. The entertainment district that currently exists was established by New York City by the Rezoning Act of 2009. The mixed-use project is about 1.5 million square feet and includes a casino, 500 room hotel, two convention areas, about 15 restaurants, new open parks and public space and retail.

The partners’ archives comprise the world’s largest and most comprehensive archive of the modern Jewish experience outside of Israel. Professor Rosenfeld is skilled in bringing scholarly insight to bear on topics of present-day importance, from the politics of Holocaust memory to contemporary antisemitism. A specialist in the history of Nazi Germany, Holocaust studies, memory studies, and counterfactual history, Professor Rosenfeld is the author or editor of eight books, with his latest volume (co-edited with Janet Ward) Fascism in America: Past and Present, to appear with Cambridge University Press in August 2023.

South Fork Wind is expected to be the first offshore site to supply electricity to New York.
New York State’s Climate Act mandate is to secure 70 percent of the State’s electricity from renewable energy by 2030 and at least 9,000 megawatts of offshore wind by 2035 and companies like Orsted are gearing up to support this effort. Orsted, a Danish energy company, is developing the South Fork Wind project with utility Eversource off the coasts of New York and Rhode Island.

In a pivotal step towards supporting historically disadvantaged communities, New York is offering its initial dispensary licenses solely to entrepreneurs and people affected by the war on drugs. Over 60 social equity retail licensees have been approved to date, with a total of 300 licensees to be approved ahead of the market opening, which is expected to launch fully in 2023.
As New York’s social equity licensees are gearing up for a successful new business in Cannabis this year, the State selected Dutchie, an all-in-one technology platform to help power the cannabis industry with Point of Sale, Ecommerce, Payments, and Insurance to help cannabis businesses with software that simplifies operations.

In the early 90s, a group of volunteers transformed an abandoned, garbage-strewn lot into two baseball diamonds for the youth of East Harlem. Thirty years later, the organization serves thousands of children across East Harlem and the South Bronx through a network of free, extended-day, extended-year DREAM Charter Schools and community sports-based youth development programs. Today, DREAM is led by co-CEOs Richard Berlin and Eve Colavito and boasts six DREAM Charter Schools in three New York City neighborhoods—East Harlem, Mott Haven, and Highbridge. Richard talks about DREAM’s opening of a new school in the South Bronx.

Fighting the national rise of Fascism, bigotry, including anti-Semitic acts, systemic racism, and hate crimes are on the minds of many New Yorkers (antisemitism is on an all time high in New York City).
