The media is powerful. Scientifically, it can be explained by the fact that televisions & phones release alpha waves that “program” our minds in hypnotic ways. Culturally, it can be explained by the fact that we spend the majority of our time on our phones and in front of the tv screen making what we consume from these outlets so easy to accepted as truth.

The media created the myth or idea that the black american family is divided which is causing black youth and children to be less privileged compared to other ethnicities. I’m not jacking it.

If you don’t tell your story, someone else will. We have to tell the narrate the black experience ourselves or the media will control how we are perceived worldwide.

The left hemisphere of the brain is responsible for noting the difference in people, places and things. Men and non black races are commonly left brained and cultivate separation, breaking down whole things into parts.

The right hemisphere of the brain is responsible for noting the similarities in people, places and things. Women and black races are commonly right brained and cultivate unity, building up whole things from its parts.

The western world or the western mind is commonly left brained, analytical, extrovert and cultivate separation so it’s not surprising when women and black races who reside in the western world develop and function more from the left brained than their brains are built to. It’s like going against the grain of how you’re supposed to be, limiting their creativity. Here’s my reflection.

3 reasons you should be reading everyday.

Number one is the average attention span is mad weak right now and it's important for us to nurture our attention span. You can literally increase your attention span by reading everyday.

Number two is when you increase your attention span by reading everyday, you also increase your brain capacity to focus more. By focusing more you also lower the chance of having anxiety, emotional issues and stuff like that. So reading can literally help with your emotional and spiritual balance.

And number three is the average CEO reads about 20 books a year.

If you read everyday, you're able to increase your income. The more books you read, the more money you’ll be able to make it.

You are what you know so if you want to make a lot of money in a certain industry or field, read a lot of books on that subject.

I don’t know about you but I have been a little more angst than usual since quarantine, lockdown and this Covid-19 pandemic. I’m not sure if I would call it anxiety but I do know it feels hard to focus sometimes, it feels difficult to be happy sometimes. Sometimes I want to cry or I do cry (even though I never cry LOL) and sometimes it feels hard to breathe. Sometimes I worry with thoughts about is this ever going to end. What makes it more difficult is that because we’re supposed to be SOCIAL DISTANCING many friends and family are not available to link with. And then when I do link with or talk to my friends and family the conversations are mainly about the negative and horrific things going on in the world. I try to find as much time link with others as I can do that we can create together...create memories that feels like are hard to get nowadays: https://www.instagram.com/tv/CA_kps6gNZP/?igshid=17xmtzhm5u9ni

Now that I look back over this podcast, I need to work on being more of a lover. The reason I struggled so hard to pick which one out of “I am a learner” and “I am a good finder” is because I know for sure that I identify with both of those qualities. I am not sure if my heart is open to others right now. I am not sure if my heart is healed. I’m not sure if my heart is leading me, guiding me and the basis of all my decisions. In fact, I am sure that I am in my head more than I am in my feelings. Lately I’ve been making more logical decisions than heartfelt ones. I got work to do. Dear @lastpoet_abiodun .. You are an example of what all people say they are going to be when they make it or when they grow up. You are a people’s person, a family man who motivates and inspires people with every word that comes out your mouth. I am grateful for you. I am grateful to have been invited into your home the first time in summer 2015 because that day was life changing for me. I am happier today then I was then and I have grown as an artist and much of my growth is due to your encouragement, your acceptance and you providing opportunities for me to perform or work in fields that allowed me to use my acquired knowledge, talents and skills. You are fulfilling because you are transparent as a man, as an artist, as a father, as a leader, as a teacher and a friend. I want to thank you for everything you’ve done for me intentionally and unintentionally. I went to college and I didn’t necessarily have a specific plan about what I was going to do post graduation So when I graduated with a degree in English, although I went in with Communications as my major, I was confused about where to look for jobs and how to use my degree to find a job. Is college necessary is a question based on your plans. If you don’t have a plan it’s necessary that you get one and then it’s relevant to ask if college is necessary or not.

In this episode of The Blue Poet Tree Podcast, Quindell and his Zeta Phi Beta sister Ciara discuss entrepreneurship, college life and adulting as it relates to millennials and this generation.

How many of us feel like the people in our lives aren’t as encouraging and supportive as we need them to be? How many of us feel like we are surrounded by people who be hating on the low? How many of us are surrounded by people who seem not to be able to understand us? They criticize too much. How many of us feel like we need some more genuine supporters for friends and family? THE THING IS, IT’S YOU! It’s you who is your biggest critic or supporter. It’s you who I’d responsible for playing the seed and daring the foundation for others to encourage you. By telling yourself good things, it’s you who marries out easier for others to do the same for you. We may want support but isn’t ready for it. And we may want to support others but how can we when we don’t even know how to support ourselves. Here’s some self gratitude. It definitely helps! BluePoetTree.com

My biggest problem is being pessimistic and complaining. Eye am talking specifically with how eye treat myself. Eye can assume the worst in the name of being a realist. In Summer 2017, eye began writing affirmations every single day once eye awake and sharing them with friends through text messages. This habit became an everyday thing where eye create and use positive affirmations. It became a book entitled #themouthbook The Mouth Book Messages of Uplift to Heal which is a self healing guide filled with affirmations and questions with a bunch of space to write in the book. Since then, eye have literally began speaking creativity into existence and am currently working on multiple projects that eye once remembered speaking about. In this episode, Alkaline Mama defines, dissects and destroys Toxic Masculinity, shedding light on mass manipulation through food, media and other substances.

Toxic is something that can damage the structure or form of something else whenever they are mixed or come together. Masculinity is being destroyed from the structure and form and pretty become formless due to “The New Masculinity” and other movements with the same agenda or effect.

This is a photoshop image of Rocky.. in the original he is wearing normal boxer briefs. Eye did not know that and if you listen to the first podcast on the new masculinity: http://bit.ly/2qT8eRA with @arthouse.mp3 eye ask him would he wear spandex up to his chest and he says if Calvin Klein would pay him $10K he would..

First off, that’s not enough 😂😂 2nd, it’s funny to see how quick someone is to jump on money opportunities without any question of the effect the image is going to have on others.. 3rd, if this were a real pic, would it be cool ??

Art House is clearly okay with The New Masculinity and is looking from a personal perspective at the issue instead of a wholistic point of view. Are you okay with The New Masculinity? It is okay if you are because as a man, a hueman, my duty is to be freely me. So eye feel it is only right to do what makes you feel free. But does The New Masculinity promote freedom? Because if my actions are predicated on representing a movement that is specifically outside who or how eye originally identify myself then that’s not free. That’s work. That’s a favor. Therefore, eye question if representing this movement aligns with my purpose or not.

If you don’t know you’re about to know right now. You’re about to learn. Education. This is Quindell Evans of: BluePoetTree.com Let’s go!

We all have our own issues, our own dilemmas or concerns and issues that we face personally. Some of us know how to manage our personal lives and some of us don’t. Some of us need help and guidance but the thing is as an adult it is your responsibility to help yourself. If someone decides to help, then that’s a plus. We are kind people who will help each other but it can be draining if the person isn’t make it their duty to help themselves first or if the person is depending on you to help. That’s when the person becomes toxic. When this happens, it takes a wise, patient and experienced person to understand how to manage the relationship and deal with that person.

Do you have any toxic friends? What do you do to handle it??

On top of a nice voice, Corobi also writes his own songs. Eye told him there is so much room for him in the music industry because real R&B ain’t as popping as it used to be...at least when it comes to the men. We used to have Joe, Jodeci, Tyrese, Jon B, Musiq, etc. but it seems like this melodic rap is taking over and is more relevant. So, dudes who can sing nowadays also rap. This makes guys who can only sing stand out more, to me. Eye feel like Corobi can make a name for himself regardless but just because of his unique talent, he has a wider lane. Come to G.O.A.L.O. Eye surveyed 100 women asking the question, “What do you VALUE MORE in a relationship? Attention or Respect?” The results were amazing but as expected based on the type of question. Eye work with a storytelling program called, “The Kite” who believe that stories are more powerful than statistics. The tally from the survey is a statistic but the stories of these women are not told. However, eye asked a woman whom eye walked by the Attention VS Respect question and you’ll see that her story answers attention while her answer to the question is respect. Let me know what you think as a woman. Brothers too. Or let me know if you think eye am silly for this survey. BluePoetTree.com

After experiencing a breakup, eye would usually dwell on what eye did wrong and sometimes argue with the person which would usually lead to burning bridges and wrecking any chance of seeing something positive or reflecting on what eye have learned from the relationship. Journaling is a form of reflection and after a breakup reflecting on what was learned, what was gained and how the person was good is important because it can make the difference between holding on to a vision that isn’t meant to be and letting go and moving on. Journaling can also help you positively self reflect so that if you guts were thinking about getting back together, you don’t ruin it by sharing all those hard or negative emotions that are felt immediately after a breakup. Journaling has helped me transition healthily because eye have experienced a few breakups and this was the only one eye feel isn’t negatively effecting and making me feel less worthy and that’s because eye journaled and wrote out things that reminded me of my value and worth inside and outside a relationship.

Let me know what you feel about this video and if your experience with a breakup.

Dear You, Eye am celebrating my life through spoken word, music and writing. 📖 Eye am grateful that eye am able to think of ways to express myself through poetry and song so eye appreciate every moment eye am teaching performing for someone whether on a stage, in a classroom, cafe or bar. 🎤 Every performance is a celebration of life’s experiences which eye share in poetic form. Sometimes eye complain or just say negative things. 🤭 Poetry is that balance for me, that space where eye can praise and be optimistic, where eye can celebrate. Eye want to praise people more and criticize less. Celebrate people. Compliment people. Eye can do that through poetry and music. 😉

Step 8: Be Confident Do you have the ability to encourage yourself? To be a self starter? Do you have the ability to push yourself when it’s hard? Or to push yourself to do something new, something you’ve never done before? It takes confidence to do these things...to walk the success route. I got caught up in the habit of only doing things that I’m confident in. That is good but it limits my potential to explore new things. I want to practice being confident when it comes to business deals, business development and networking. Confidence is important. Knowledge is power and confidence will accelerate that power, allowing the knowledge to be used effectively. Affirmation: I am confident in myself, my talents and my ability to learn what is necessary for me to create what I want to give and to earn. BluePoetTree.com

Moreover, the students also discussed their expectations of the field exposure program by The Kite. Tune in and let us know what you think.

Step 6: Know What You Want. Most of us know what we don’t want and what we want to avoid or not experience. That’s fine. Know what you don’t want but more importantly know what you want. Whether you are looking for what you want or what you don’t want, either way you are going to find it. Be precise. Envision your future exactly how you want it. Of course, things may not work out how you plan but learning how to plan and envision build confidence & clarity and teaches you how to create achievable goals. BluePoetTree.com

The successful man monitors his relationships to figure out the role each of the people in his life are playing and makes the necessary sacrifices and adjustments in order to reach his goals. There’s always going to be something you need help with for multiple reasons. During these times, you can always hire someone to teach you, to do something for you or to assist you at doing something. You’re going to need help sometimes. Build a team. Build relationships. Step 3: H.E.A.L. Holding.Everything.Always.Loses. We must let go of past trauma or anything that we’re holding onto that has the potential to hold us back. Heal from our life issues so it doesn’t negatively affect our work effort and become a draining part of our work environment. Bad reputations follow us. Just like injuries effect our physical performance, trauma and personal life issues does so as well. Does everyone want to be something bigger and better than who they are now? What does a dreamer who feels like they are too far from accomplishing their dreams do? What immediate action does someone take who feels stagnant but want to start making their dreams come true?

“If I lose my mind, I know that I will always find it because I control what I fill my mind with and who I spend my time with.” We can’t control everything we hear but we can control what we choose to listen to. We can’t control what is offered to us and what is given but we can control what we choose to take, take in and receive. We can’t control what people decide to teach but we can control what we choose to learn. It’s important that we take more control over what we learn, what we receive and what we allow to influence us if we are going to be mentally healthy and successful.

“I’ll never finish healing if I never get started. I won’t invite you to mine so don’t invite me to your pity party.” Bad things happen so it’s inevitable that we will feel pain and get hurt at some point in our lives. The question is, how do we allow our painful experiences to teach us? How do we use our pain as a pressure to push us to grow and become better, to become what we want? How do we make the best of our worst experiences? Have a pity party? Or a solution slam? THIS PODCAST IS INSPIRED BY “THE M.O.U.T.H. BOOK MESSAGES OF UPLIFT TO HEAL.”

“If you were ever down and got back up then if you fall again you can get back up twice. If you got back up once, then you’re never down for good in life.” Failure is not final. Failure is not finite. Failure is not forever. Failure is for fun, for experience, for learning. Let’s allow the lessons we learn from failing to inspire us and encourage to become better than our mistakes. Let’s mentally make room for disappointments so that we accept them, learn from them and move on happily. Let’s use our mistakes to make our goals bigger and more precise.

We determine our happyness. We determine our sadness, our attitude, our mood and our focus and direction. All of these things are habitual. Our energy is habitual, believe it or not. We choose to get used to behaving the way we behave and develop triggers over time to the point where we can automatically feel whatever way we are accustomed to feeling. No one makes you happy. No one makes you sad. You do those things and can give credit to others or outside things. What are your triggers? BluePoetTree.com

Too many of us lack confidence. Too many of us lack faith in ourselves. We have a hard time trusting that want we want can actually become reality. Then we accept that the obstacles we face now will always be present, will always negatively affect us but that’s not true (unless we make it true). The truth is we as we develop, we face different issues. We can choose the issues we want to face. Like the issue of how to create a better life. It starts today. BluePoetTree.com

I host an open mic called “Write Right Open Mic” every Thursday at Word Up Cafe in East New York Brooklyn and I make it a duty for people to share one thing they are grateful for when they get on the mic because I truly believe it’s important to vocalize gratitude. Here is a compilation of some of the things people are grateful for who attended one of the open mics.

I think when people see other people do something they naturally imagine themselves doing it too and that’s the feeling that inspires you to want to do it too or not. I think we smoke cigarettes because we see it as normal, as okay, as socially acceptable. I doubt that the majority of people who smoke cigarettes actually know what chemicals are in there and how it helps them or not. I think we smoke out of the simple fact that others do it too.

When I mention “the hood”, it is a term used to describe the low income communities around the U.S. (and other parts of the world but that’s another story) that are predominately filled with Blacks and a sprinkle of Hispanics. The question is, what can we do to help change the structure or poverty culture of these low income neighborhoods? How do we reverse the poverty? The violence? The jails? The people? Are the people who live there the problem? Or is the place in which they live the problem? Why is “the hood” the way it is? Let me know how you feel in the comments below!

Some people are so passionate about what they do and @travisplacid is one of them...as an endurance athlete...he enjoys rock climbing, running and cycling, fitness training, nutritional eating and other forms of personal development...we had a great convo that’s going to be uploaded to The Blue Poet Tree Podcast. He shares his story of being addicted to sports from his youth until now. He’s biking all the way to Tennessee next week 🚲 WOW! I was fascinated to hear his history and how he became a athletic fanatic !!! I know you’ll enjoy his story too ...Especially the part about his black sports club to get more blacks interested in sports other than basketball and football. BluePoetTree.com

The introduction to Quindell Evans’ second musical project called “The Moor They Want” is a track called “Gentrifihatian.” On this introduction, Quindell recites a poem and repetitiously repeats “What we need to do is...” and states different things he supposed would help. The truth is, we don’t have one specific answer or solution for any societal problems but it’s okay to try whatever we believe helps. On this episode of The Blue Poet Tree Podcast you’ll hear Quindell breakdown the meaning to this introduction as well as hear his comments on specific societal issues.

The term “stay woke” is trendy and has been trending for some time now amongst people of the so-called “conscious community” and users of social media. What does it really mean? Is experiencing an “awakening” the same thing as being “woke” or not? What is an awakening? How does these terms relate and what are their differences? On this episode of The Blue Poet Tree Podcast Quindell Evans and Ms. Natural discuss the meanings of both but focuses on which one is better.

Never let anyone take you away from your dreams. Never let anyone discourage you or stop you from taking your talent, your passion, your goals seriously. I had this happen with people in my family and with people in relationships and it’s not something I would wish on anyone. It can hurt when your own family members tell you to stop dreaming or think they know what’s best for you instead of trying to encourage you. Listen to episode 101 of The Blue Poet Tree Podcast as I share my experience of being a dreamer who would t let anyone discourage me.

Here we have Kali Ann and Ricardo reading the affirmations and answering the essential questions from “The M.O.U.T.H. Book Messages of Uplift to Heal.” M-O-U-T-H is an acronym that stands for Message-Of-Uplift-To-Heal. As you can see, the essential questions in the book are requiring to Kali and Ricardo to get personal and speak of things in a healing way that they may not usually get to speak of. Personal topics are good to tackle during your alone time but with a friend or partner these essential questions become more powerful at allowing you to open up and focus on your energy toward being optimistic and truthful with yourself. Check out this 10 minute healing session on Episode 93 of The Blue Poet Tree Podcast.

I appreciate the motives of others for the different perspectives it is giving me.” He describes and explains what this affirmation means to him and how it allows him to enjoy what he does and what others do for him. He explains how it’s easy to be negatively effected by the criticism and disapproval of others but with the right perspective, everything can motivate you. Does anybody want to go there? To the place that I call home. I ask this because I’m from the hood and everybody ain’t built for the type of upbringing the hood teaches you. Everybody ain’t built for the struggle. Everybody ain’t build for the food deserts. Everybody ain’t built for the poverty. Everybody ain’t built for the violence and everybody ain’t built for the pressure. On Episode 78 of The Blue Poet Tree Podcast Quindell talks more about how it was growing up in the hood as he breaks down the lyrics to his song ‘Home.’

Originally a very short poem, “I Need A Peace Of Change” By Quindell Evans is a song of hope. The title is a play on words as ‘piece’ is spelled ‘peace’ on purpose. And change is used in the context of making a difference not as a form of currency. That’s what this song is hoping for...change. The song doesn’t lose its poetic essence because Quindell sings and recites poetry interchangeably in the song making it a one of a kind listen. Check out Episode 76 of The Blue Poet Tree Podcast to listen to the song and find out more of the backstory of it.

The term G.O.A.L.O. is an acronym created by Quindell Evans to use as the name of a monthly open mic he hosts. It was originally G.O.L.O. which stood for Get Over Life Obstacles but Quindell decided to add the letter A in order to allow the acronym to spell out the word GOAL. Now the term means Get Over All Life Obstacles. And that’s what we all want to do. The question is, how? Listen to Episode 73 of The Blue Poet Tree Podcast as Quindell reflects on having concrete goals and how it can trump obstacles.

In the summer of 2014, I just began facilitating poetry workshops on Rikers Island. This being my first experience of the infamous jail, I was immediately awestruck by the overrepresentation of Blacks. Because I reflect mainly through poetry, music, singing and writing, I decided to express my feelings of this realization by writing the song ‘Stop Guessing.’ I spit one of my favorite flows on this song and there’s no way I can forget these lyrics that I’m so emotionally attached to. Listen to Episode 72 of the Blue Poet Tree Podcast for the lyrical breakdown of the song.

Written in 2014 after the horrific killings of Mike Brown and Philando Castile by police, the song “Killing Blacks” by Quindell Evans is his reaction to the way the murders were portrayed in the media. Many people are insensitive to or indifferent about blacks’ negative portrayal in the media as well as blacks’ overrepresentation in the prison system but Quindell is sensitive to it. Maybe because he works at Rikers Island, Horizons & Crossroads Juvenile Centers as a program facilitator. Maybe it’s because he grew up in an at-risk and impoverished community and experienced so much. Listen to Episode 68 of The Blue Poet Tree Podcast as Quindell explains the story behind this emotional song.

Inspired by Tupac’s song “Got My Mind Made Up” Quindell shares his big-heartedness on the track “Just A Fool.” He speaks from the perspective of someone who is foolish enough to believe that he can change the world. In this song, he addresses how painful it is to feel this way. Quindell questions who is in control and who is being controlled in the world. He also cleverly reflects on how things haven’t changed much for Black America in this song. Listen to the dissection of “Just A Fool” by Quindell Evans on Episode 66 of the Blue Poet Tree Podcast.

Preparation, planning and practice can help us stay in the game, can help us stay on our toes, can keep us ready for what we want. How do we prepare for what we want when sometimes we aren’t sure of what we want or we want many things? How we plan for what we want knowing that our plans might not pan out how we want it? How do we practice for what we want when what we want seems so out of reach or too large of a goal? Do we take it one day at a time? or do we think far ahead? Listen to Episode 65 of The Blue Poet Tree Podcast as Quindell Evans discusses ways to prepare today for tomorrow.

What does it mean to be conscious? Is it simply being aware of your environment and what is going on in it? Or is it more to it? It seems like there is an uprising or trend of people becoming conscious to the point is a term coined the “conscious community.” Is that a good thing? What does it mean to be spiritual? Is it simply believing in a higher power? What else comes with it? Does consciousness and spirituality relate and work together? Are they essentially the same thing? Or do they oppose each other? We plan, we create routines, we work hard and do everything we know how to but sometimes things don’t always work out the way we want. Even when we get what we want, a lot of times, it still doesn’t work out exactly how we planned. How do we learn to trust the process? How do we learn how to be flexible in our plans? How do we learn how to remain confident in the outcome without trying to control every part of the process, particularly in order to force things to work the way we want. How do accept that some things need to be don’t a different way? How do we appreciate the process of pursuing our goals? Listen to Episode 61 of The Blue Poet Tree Podcast as Quindell Evans invites Jace The First to reflect on these questions.

Of course, we want to surround ourselves with people of like minds, people who see things the way we see them and people who inspire us, people who push us and people who believe in us. Of course it helps to work with people who have similar interests and capabilities. But, how can surrounding ourselves with people who think entirely different from us help us? How can working with people who are interested in things we are not benefit us? Maybe their differences can help us widen our perspective. Maybe their differences can influence us to grow outside of our comfort zone and expose us to new things we otherwise wouldn’t see. Listen to Episode 57 of The Blue Poet Tree Podcast as Quindell Evans reflects on the positive effects of differences. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

What’s your vision? Where do you see you yourself in the years to come? Did you make plans and set clear goals to see your vision come to life? If so, what do you plan to do when your plans are challenged by distraction, pressure and temptation? Do you have a backup plan or a plan to get back up? Do you have a plan that will allow you to get back on track if you’re ever knocked off of the path to your vision? It’s good to make plans. It’s good to have a vision and plans to reach to your destination. And it’s great to have integrity. That feeling of knowing what’s right and wrong. That way you can discern what is good for your growth and what has the ability to take you off course. Listen to Episode 54 of The Blue Poet Tree Podcast as Quindell Evans reflects and expands on this. Thank you.

How do we accept ourselves fully, appreciate who and where we are, love ourselves but still acknowledge that we need to make changes in order to grow? How do we remain fulfilled in and with our lives while also striving to enhance the ways in which we are satisfied? Of course we want to always uplift ourselves, make ourselves feel good and appreciate every moment. But how do we do those things and still leave room for growth, self improvement and development? Acknowledging that we need to change takes some criticism and pointing out things that we may not appreciate about ourselves. Sometimes this type of judgmental behavior may be needed in order for us to breakthrough barriers of mediocrity and excel to the heights we deeply desire. They say if you can see it, you can believe it but it’s the other way around. We have to believe it to see it. We have to put faith first. But how do we? When there’s so much going on and a lot in our way, how do we remain faithful and believe in ourselves? Where does successful people get their confidence from?Maybe we just follow our faith and do something to work towards our vision. Maybe we make plans and set goals. On Episode 47 of The Blue Poet Tree Podcast Quindell Evans sits down with poet, rapper and wisdom seeker Sean Elliot and discusses “detachment” and “money.” What is detachment? What are some things, people, environments and habits that people who have goals should detach from? How do we go about detaching from these things once we realize we need to detach because it ain’t easy? When it comes to money, prosperity, abundance or wealth, what are the ideas, beliefs and habits that keep us from growing in these areas and instead we do just enough to maintain or exist? How do we detach from those pessimistic ideas of money, prosperity, abundance and wealth and learn positive ways? Thank you for listening to Episode 47 of The Blue Poet Tree Podcast. Nobody is perfect and appearing perfect only effects the people we are working with and others around us in a negative way. When we are working toward a goal, how do we allow our flaws to not become a distraction? How do we remain confident, faithful and inspired without seeming cocky or egotistical? Can our extreme ambition turn people off and make it hard to work with us? Maybe we’re not transparent enough. If not, how can we be more transparent and allow people to see who we are in every way, flaws and all? Listen to Quindell a Evans on The Blue Poet Tree Podcast as he reflects on this topic and respond with your thoughts.

If your grind is big, if you’re already disciplined at working toward your goals, if you’re a habitual goal setter, then planning might seem like an unnecessary task because you’re used to getting up and getting straight to it. If you’re used to doing instead of talking and is conditioned to be or is naturally good at organizing what you’re going to accomplish, then planning might seem like a distraction and time-consuming liability. But for many of us, we want to discipline ourselves in the area of planning, preparation and practice. We want to know where to start. Do we write down our goals everyday? Do we do a vision board for years to come? What happens when things change and our plans are interrupted? How do we adjust? Listen to Quindell Evans as he reflects on these questions on The Blue Poet Tree Podcast.

What’s your purpose? What’s your drive behind what you do? Do you have a drive? Do you know your purpose? Or are you casually flowing with life? It’s okay. Maybe casually flowing through life is getting what you want and leading you to wonderful places? But for the most part, identifying your purpose and living it can open you up to unimaginable talents you have and opportunities waiting for you to enjoy. I’m realizing that knowing what I want is more than enough. And while striving to achieve what I want, the best part is getting to know myself and learning that I am capable of getting more than what I want. A Big Part Of Change Is Acceptance. I’m Learning To Accept People For Who And Where They Are In Life. That Way I Can Meet Them Where They Are And Be Able To Build With Them Without Our Different Perspectives Being An Obstacle. One Of The First Reactions We Have To Our Growth Is We Look Around At The People In Our Lives And Expect Them To Grow The Way We Are Growing. We All Grow Differently Though. Acceptance Is Appreciation. Expectations Will Always Be Met When We Accept And Appreciate. So I Want To Discipline Myself At Accepting Myself And Others.

We all know the saying, “It’s not what you know. It’s who you know.” Well who you know is just one part of the equation. The other half of the equation is how positive or productive our relationship is with who we know. What impression are we leaving on who we know? Will who we know provide a recommendation if we needed it? On the other hand, is who we know encouraging and inspiring us to achieve greatness or is who we know dissuading us? Is who we know an example of leadership, wealth, positivity or whatever else we aspire to exemplify ourselves. Who we know could be our family, friends, partners, mentors, coworkers, faculty, etc. What role do our relationships play on our success? Joy and pain is like sunshine and rain. When they’re together, they create the most beautiful thing...a sun shower. What’s more beautiful than a sun shower? When it’s raining while the sun is out. That’s like finding ways and reasons to enjoy the moment regardless of the hardships and troubling circumstance at the current time. A funeral after a death is one of those ways to celebrate the day during a time of mourning. Expressing the pain is a form of relief during the painful time, a form of sunshine during the rainy day. I suffered mentally the most during times I wasn’t expressing things I needed to and wasn’t self reflection because I was trying to ignore things instead of addressing or dealing with it. When striving to become financially independent, how does your race and ethnicity limit you or gives you a leg up? Is success different for people of different cultures? Many people, like Poetix, are skeptical about the idea of money and criticizes its level of importance as a currency in today’s society. Is wealth reserved for a certain race or ethnicity? Is striving to be wealthy for everyone? Quindell and Poetix are on opposing sides of this topic. Listen and tell me who do you side with? BluePoetTree.com

There are two types of mindsets we all have...the scarcity mindset and the valuable mindset. The scarcity mindset is when we feel we don’t have enough and it drives us by influencing us to look for people, places and things that can offer us something we don’t have or something we think we need more of. The valuable mindset is when we feel we have a lot to offer and it drives us by influencing us to look for people, places and things we can give to. I feel like I can shift mindsets but i am aware that i want to function fundamentally from the valuable mindset. How do I do that? BluePoetTree.com

I’m learning how to plan everyday in order to get what I want to done. Planning is a form of me taking control of my life and not allowing my life to be in the hands of other people’s plans. However, sometimes it can feel like I’m too controlling and too hard on myself when I don’t get things done, when I get interrupted or distracted or when I try to include others in my plans. What I want be able to do is be flexible and flow with the changes and people that can effect my plans. I want to include others in my plans in a way that allows people’s plans or purposes to be fulfilled though me instead of expecting them to fulfill my purpose. I want to appreciate every route I can take to succeed because I feel no matter which route I take, the destination is still success. BluePoetTree.com

While being a full time artist, I’m learning how to support myself financially by striving to manifest the best ideas that comes to my mind and I’m realizing it takes a lot of self discipline and I have a lot of growing to and there are so many areas I have to mature in. Overall, I feel like my state of mind is more important than what I am able to do. I feel like it’s better for me to be prepared. To prepare for my goals by planning and also be prepared to make new plans when my plans fail. That way, I am strong, fortified and ready to keep going no matter what. I can’t accept defeat or failure as the last chapter. BluePoetTree.com

Deep down, the underlying issue of the society today is healing. There is not enough healing. Not enough adults letting go of negative habits and childhood issues so we're being taught and teaching negative habits generation after generation. We need to ease up on each other, accept each other for our differences and understand that there is no one right way. BluePoetTree.com

But if you give me hate, anger, disgust, lies, complaints and other forms of negative energy, you can’t get that back from me because I’m not focused on matching that type of vibe. There’s some songs I write that’s painful to write and it takes a lot out of me to sing because of all the pain I put in it. Then there’s some songs I write that’s full of joy and grace and gratitude so when I sing them, it fills with me up with good vibes and smiles. When I’m on stage or behind the mic, I feel at peace, I feel like I’m in my element and it’s important for me to choose to perform songs that I would love to sing forever because if I’m not liking how I’m feeling while singing than why would I choose to. When We’re Struggling, When We’re Experiencing Something Painful, Uncomfortable Or Going Through Something We Think We Don’t We Deserve, There’s Always Someone Going Through The Same Exact Thing. We Don’t Know That Because We’re Deep In It And That Makes Us Feel Alone. That Feeling Of Being Alone Is Distracting Us What We Need To Learn From It. When We Learn From What We’re Experiencing, We Can Allow Others To Learn From Our Experiences Too. They Say “A Wise Man Learns From His Mistakes But A Genius Learns From The Mistakes Of Others.” We Have To Be Wise Geniuses. This Is The Basis Of The Conversation That Went On Between Quindell Evans and Asia Maddrey Inspired By “The M.O.U.T.H. Pain is inevitable and so is pleasure. I’ve felt both and I know that I will feel both as life goes on. The challenge is not to let pain become a distraction nor should pleasure become a distraction either. Instead, I want to be inspired by every part of life. I want to allow the pain and the pleasure to push me. When there are things that cause me to hurt, how can use it to inspire me to work? When there are things that bring me joy, how can I use it to allow me to work some more? I remember my mother having cancer like it was yesterday...I didn’t complain although I was hurt. Instead, I sang and some of my greatest work came from that time. And when my mother beat the cancer, I allowed her accomplishment to inspire me too. This is a reflection inspired by “The M.O.U.T.H. I’m growing and a lot of the ideas I wanted to pursue before seems for easier to do. That’s because I’m developing mentally and mentality is the beginning of doing anything with longevity. Because in the past when I wanted to do things but didn’t have the right mentality to persevere or withstand certain setbacks or obstacles, I stopped and felt defeated when I was faced with a challenge. Now I’m realizing that planning takes some time and it doesn’t serve me to go through life blindly waiting for something outside of me to help me out and instead get ready first. I’m also learning to be a self starter and inspire and motivate myself because there are few people in my life who will push me as much as I need to be pushed anyway. Now is the time to use every second, every moment to prepare for what I want so I can remain ready for my journey of success. Although I ain’t got much right now, I’m gearing up and getting ready for everything. This is a self reflection inspired by “The M.O.U.T.H. Book Messages of Uplift to Heal” by Quindell Evans. Quindell Evans elaborates on how knowing what you are here for aligns what you want and what you have or what you been through. Do you know what your purpose is? Do you know the reason you strive for your goals? If so, what is in your way, what is challenging you, what is slowing you down in any way becomes less powerful. With purpose comes strength. With purpose comes discipline. With purpose becomes the power to remain focused on your goals and let nothing distract you. Quindell and Mr. Poet has a conversation about how they published both of their books and what inspired them to do so. Do you have a book idea that you want to manifest into the world? Do you write a lot of poetry or short stories or journal or diary very often? Your writings, your story, your message may inspire other people in many ways. Maybe someone needed to know that what they’re experiencing someone else is too. Maybe you publishing a book will inspire others to share their story too. There are sites that allow you to publish a book for free and distribute it to book stores such as Barnes And Noble and Amazon. Take advantage of these resources and spread your art to the people in your life and throughout the world. BluePoetTree.com

How many ideas do you sit on and never act on? How many ideas do you think of and never do? Have you ever had an idea that you procrastinated on and someone else took credit for it or someone else did it? I’ve been there with all here things so that’s why I say, “I’m going to die one day so whatever it is I want while I am living, it’s my duty to get up and go get it.” Ideas die so I like to get to it while the idea is alive in me because idk how long I’ll feel like doing it and I don’t want to say I thought of something or had a goal that I didn’t do. Have you ever been in a relationship or situation where you expected or assumed the others person’s intentions were identical with yours but you find out they weren’t? Maybe it seemed like their intentions were straight and transparent at first. Maybe you seen questionable behaviors but let things slide thinking they would change or not show that behavior again. Maybe you thought you could help them. Maybe there was a job or project you were working on and got tired of the job. Or got different who were working with. As an artist, it is important to self reflect and calculate your intentions because you’ll be more prepared to realize the intentions of the people you come across and build relationships with. I’m realizing that my intention may change in different environments because every environment I enter I have to approach things differently. I’m constantly learning about how I effect others and in turn it helps me monitor how others effect me in spite of their intentions. Being alive is something to be grateful for. No matter what I don’t have, there’s so many people who want my spot. Surrounding myself with different people allowed me to learn and open my mind. That’s the beauty of institutions such as schools, jobs, religious temples and meetings. These environments allow people of different values, different purposes, different principles and different backgrounds to come together and share their differences and learn from each other what we sometimes can’t learn being around people who we have similarities with. “The differences of others does not make us separate. Because I accept it, it brings us together and connects us.” Conducting weekly meetings allowed to learn a lot about myself from other people’s lens as well as allowed me to develop projects and expand on ideas in a very effective way.
