In this episode we're going to be discussing how to handle situations when people are rude.

Kinda hard, and awkward am I right? Rude customers differ from unhappy ones when they choose not to control their anger. They are unreasonable, unfriendly, and prone to using verbal abuse, or other offensive language and threatening behavior. But you're in business to serve your customers, so it's important to try to help them. Let's take a minute to discuss how to best handle these situations with professionalism and grace.

In this episode we're going to cover event proposals and how to write ones that more clients will say "YES" to. An event proposal is a document created to win new business, detailing the fees an event manager/event management company will charge for services to produce an event. Event planners live and die by their event proposals, so if you aren't using them you are definitely leaving money on the table.

Here are the five major components to starting on a winning event proposal:

  1. Introduce yourself and the project.
  2. Write an attractive event description.
  3. List all services provided.
  4. Show your previous work.
  5. Incorporate monetary information throughout.

How to Start with Friends and Family 1. Text everyone in your phone. 2. Email everyone in your inbox with a personal message letting them know about your business. 3. Post on your own Facebook page. 4. Call close friends and let them know what you’re up to. 5. Invite a group of friends to coffee and ask them to share your story. (If you trust this group of friends you can ask them for feedback on what you’re doing. If you do not trust their business sense then do not let their opinions change your passion for planning.) 6. Give business cards to your friends that they can pass out. 7. Offer to do a free event for your friends and family in exchange for a Yelp review, photo shoot and testimonial. 8. Ask friends to share your website on their Facebook page.

You can also tell former bosses, past business acquaintances and former co-workers. There are ways to communicate these messages to them without being overly salesy. Trust me when I say they all want to hear about your new adventure. Once you reach out to your inner circle, you can launch a social media outreach campaign.

How to Get Clients through Social Media 1. Post images of your events or other beautiful events you like on Instagram. 2. Follow and connect with similar people on Instagram. 3. Join Twitter and use the “advanced search” function to find brides-to-be, corporate clients, venues, vendors, etc and begin following and interacting with them. 4. Join local community groups on Facebook and start adding value to the groups by posting your knowledge. They will quickly view you as an expert and reach out to you. 5. Post your knowledge on your Facebook page. You can also run contests to give away a free event. 6. Partner with local restaurants or venues to post content on their Facebook pages (great idea!). 7. Get a past client, family or friend to do a short Youtube video review of your work.

Social media works but it takes a little time. You have to create a strategy (use the one I just wrote above) and execute on it every single day. Just do one small thing on social media once per day. We call this “planing your seed”, and in a few months the seeds you plant in the social media world will grow to be large, beautiful, healthy trees. When you begin marketing on social media make sure you choose the same Company name on every platform (same name on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Youtube).

How to Get Clients on Review Sites The next place to get clients is on review sites. Yelp, Thumbtack and Craigslist are some of the best places to get new clients but the key is to have 10 or more reviews.

What a YEAR!?! The 2020 Year In Review Episode is all about the highs and lows (and there were some low, lows) last year. But the good news is that it wasn't all bad.

Through all of the chaos, a global pandemic, your industry becoming known for "super spreading", and so much more... there was still a lot of good and growth that came from 2020. Paynton and I hope you like listening to this conversation and that you're able to reflect on your past year with lessons learned and BIG goals for 2021.

Some tips for choosing the right subject include:

  • Choosing a focused and niche topic rather than a broad one. Having a broad topic usually means more competition. The more focused your niche, the easier it is to convey expertise.
  • Having expert-level knowledge. Keep in mind, being an expert on a topic might mean you have better-than-average knowledge. You don’t have to be a genius or have traditional credentials.
  • Knowing who your audience is, what their problems are, and how you can teach them to solve those problems.

Lights, camera, action! Now that you picked a subject and have all the right gear, it’s time to shoot some video!

Place the green screen on the wall behind you. Make sure you pull the green screen taut so that there are no wrinkles or sagging as that can show up in the videos when you edit the background.

Then set up the camera on a tripod in front of you and place the lights behind the camera. Once you have your little mini-studio set-up it’s time to record.

Do a test recording first to make sure that you look and sound good. If you see any sort of shadow on your face or body, adjust the lights accordingly to eliminate it. Article Source

Paynton and I discuss how great it is to be back planning an event and the theme that my daughter chose for her party. I am once again joined by Paynton Matthews where we discuss dressing for the event. It is important to not only look professional during an event but you also need to be comfortable. During an event you may do anything from moving tables, working on audio, decorating the tables or greeting guests. Each of these tasks require you to be moving around and if you are wearing heels during these may cause you quite a bit of discomfort. Learning to match your attire to events is a special tool we all need to learn. Listen to this episode if you are like are like Paynton and I where we discuss the struggles we have had with dressing for the event.

If there is a topic you would like us to discuss leave us a comment and we would love to discuss it in a future episode. If you like what you are hearing leave us a review.

How lucky is it when we can take something that we are passionate about and make it a career? The fact that we can take something we love (like event planning) and make money doing it to live is something that amazes me. If working a 9-5 job isn’t something that excites you then find something you are passionate about and figure out a way to monopolize on it.

In this episode I'll sit down with with Morgan Heywood who is a student of the Party Planner Academy. Morgan was one of the first student’s of mine and she has been able to take the information she learned and turn it into her career. Morgan found a passion for event planning after she hosted a birthday party for her mom and sister in October of 2018. Her husband encouraged her to pursue her passion after he found a new job and they were financially stable enough to allow her to find her passion. Her husband supports her in pursuing her career in event planning and you can tell she has an eye for it, just check out her instagram and you will see!

  1. Have you wondered what events post-coronavirus is going to look like? Are they going to be happening anytime soon? Is everyone going to be wearing masks? These are the questions that have been running through my mind constantly. This is a topic that Paynton and I discussed in her recent podcast episode. If you are an event planner, this episode will give you a good idea of what the future events may look like in the near future.

Paynton and I recently got to sit down and interview the owners of the Azalea, Nik and Krystin. They opened their doors in February of this year. Bookings were going great and almost every weekend was booked and then COVID 19 happened...  Events were quickly shut down and there was no end in sight of when events were going to be hosted again. Luckily, with CDC guidelines they were able to open up their doors again at the end of May. Whether you're an event planner or venue owner, give this a listen and learn how to pivot your business when up foreseen circumstances arise.

Whether your goals are for fitness, starting/growing your business, or just in general... support has been something I've always looked for to feel secure moving forward. But what happens when you don't have it? Then What? In this episode, I'm sharing my best advise for this challenge.

Here are Three Steps to help you get the support you are needing: 1. Tell the truth about your aspirations. What are you really going for? If you talk small about your goals and dreams you may find that you're not showing up for your goals and dreams in the best way. Tell your supporters what you intend to create in ALL of it's greatness. 2. Lead by example. It’s easy to get defensive when someone shares unsolicited advice, but being the victim isn’t helping your situation. Instead, try talking only about the successes you’re experiencing, no matter how small they seem, so the people around you can see what’s possible for you.

3. Hear their fears. More-than-not, you’re not being supported because the other person is expressing their own fears and projecting their own failures.

You've got this. Remember to have a strong "WHY" that you can go back to and keep going. Give yourself permission to fail and permission to learn from it.

Based on this need for social connection, your reactions to rejection, negative judgment and stinging sarcastic remarks can range from minor hurt to bouts of depression. The ability to let a show of dislike roll off your back is a learned skill. You have to consciously balance your need to be liked with understanding what is true about the current situation.

  1. Catch yourself reacting defensively or shutting down. The first step to handling a negative situation is to recognize your reaction. Instead of stuffing your emotions, you need to stop three or four times a day and ask yourself, “What am I feeling?”

  2. Ask yourself what is true about the situation. When you sense yourself shutting down or feeling defensive, ask yourself what you believe the person meant to do to you. Did they truly mean to insult you, betray you, disrespect you, or make fun of you?

  3. Finally, if you believe the person doesn’t like you, ask yourself whether this matters. Some people will like you. Others will not. Will the person’s judgment of you impact your work or life?

Coronavirus and quarantine got you down? Honestly, most days I feel that way too... But each day we have choices, and there is still the option everyday to add value and share your talents with the world!

In today's episode I'm sharing the tell-tale signs that you're in desperate need of a batching and content plan for your business. Take the mini quiz to see if this episode could be helpful for you...

  1. You think of what to write each day, and most days you have no idea...
  2. You copy event planning trends and mostly share stock photos or other peoples work.
  3. Your content doesn't have purpose or a call to action... most people don't even realize you're for hire as an event planner
  4. You feel lost and don't know where to start with your content strategy.

If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, this episode is for you.

Today I'm joined by UVU's newest event planning graduate: Paynton Matthews and I'm thrilled for you to listen in!

Here are her five biggest takeaways from her time at event planning school:

  • Things go wrong at events and it is out of your control. You have to think quick and not let your client know you are stressing. Think quick on your feet! You have to plan down to every little detail. Even the simplest of tasks can make the biggest difference.
  • You wear many hats as an event planner. Knowing things in every aspect of event planning from audio to catering can be so helpful. Also, you may be a therapist or a seamstress from time to time. Whatever the job calls for!
  • Building a network is so important. Building a network of other event planners and vendors can be helpful in your career.
  • This is a stressful job (always in the top 5 most stressful jobs) it is important to find an activity/hobby outside of work (like dirtylicious) that can help you de-stress after work. It is very important for your mental health.
  • Creating a memorable experience for the guests is so important. They may not remember the souvenir they brought home that night but they will remember the happiness they felt while attending your event.

Event Planner's Toolbox:

Batteries, black duct tape, bottled water, calculator, clear packing tape, clipboards, energy bars, extension cords, first aid kits, flashlights, floral wire, hammer, hand sanitizer, highlighters, mending kit, flat tire repair, jumper cables, pain reliever, paper clips, pencils, pens, markers, personal hygiene items, pocket knife, lint roller, rubber bands, safety pins, scissors, screwdriver, super glue, tape measure, USB drive, phone chargers/batterie backs, Walkie-Talkies, Ziplock bags.

Whether you've put your own business on hold or been furloughed... event planners need to maintain relationships. Eventually, things will go back to normal and events will happen again. You have two choices here: 1. Do nothing (come on girl, you're better than that!) or 2. Stay in contact the best way you know how.

Think of creative ways to keep in touch with clients and vendors, like putting more into social media or tagging them in a past event post. Now more than ever, it's important to post regularly on Instagram and LinkedIn so people know you are here and working, even if we are in remote offices.

In this episode I'm wrapping up the second part of the Customizable Event Planning Checklist. There are many moving parts on event day (Regardless of what type of event you've planned), and inevitably, unexpected situations will arise. If you don’t have the day-of-event details outlined to a tee in your Customizable Event Planning Checklist, you won'y miss anything. Which instead of showing up later as a big problem, the client and guest's will have no idea something even went wrong.

There’s no need for that added stress when you can use your checklist to create a thorough day-of-event schedule. That’s precisely why you’ll want to keep track of every single thing that can affect the guest and client experience. It’s the little details that make a big difference.

If event's are something you think you can simply list out in your mind, think again.

In this episode, I'm talking about my best kept secret to why my events are so successful: Customizable Checklists Part 1!

Planning an event involves layers upon layers of details. From the pre-planning stage to the day-of-event logistics, there’s a lot to keep track of. If you keep all those details in your head, you've already failed. You've got to be able to share your event plan with others, because people aren't mind readers.

In this episode I'm sharing ALL OF MY THOUGHTS, good and bad, with you about my event last weekend: The Powerful Women Dance Party.

When you plan your own events, there is a lot to do, be aware of and in charge of... So when this opportunity came to plan a party for someone else (at one of my FAVORITE hotels in Utah) I jumped at the chance.

Here is what I learned, and my biggest takeaways.

If you want to be a professional, you have to do what the professionals do.

In this episode, we'll discuss the benefits (and really teach you the benefits) of why you should be batching your content. Batching is beneficial for multiple areas of your life, but especially when it comes to content creation.

I'll also dive into my most recent blog post and give you all of the behind the scenes of what and why I wrote what I did and how you can show up as an event planning expert in your corner of the interwebs.

Are you a fan of Chick-Fil-A?

Whether you love their food or not, we can all agree that as far as fast food goes, they have nailed their niche,  customer interaction, company culture and guest experience. The result is them making almost double the revenue that a McDonalds makes per location, and are one of the largest family owned businesses in the United States.

Here are my five biggest take aways from this Chicken-chain that apply to EVERY business.

  1. Look for Opportunities

  2. Create a Superior Customer Experience

  3. Give the employees (and yourself) freedom to make choices that benefit the customer and business

  4. Build Your Community and Get Involved

  5. Businesses Don't Succeed or Fail, People Do.

Final thoughts from the Chick-Fil-A Founder himself:

“In the end, remember that businesses don’t succeed or fail. People do.” -Truett Cathy And that is why his company still succeeds.

Thanksgiving week is over and it was lovely. But maybe it was the second helping of food I didn't need or the pumpkin pie, but it all left me feeling a little bit lethargic and low energy. I just got back from Disneyland and it was one of the best and most exhausting trips ever. I feel so lucky to be able to celebrate and renew at one of my favorite places on the planet, and no matter how many miles I walk, how tired I get or how many lines I have to wait in... I ALWAYS love going back again and again.

PS. I almost titled this episode "My Worst Airbnb Experience" because it happens to be a BIG part of my most recent trip to Disneyland... but I decided against it.

In this episode I'm talking about belief. Belief in yourself, your abilities and your dreams is the biggest advantage you have when it comes to chasing your dreams and creating a life you love. Life is hard, there are different seasons, and NO ONE will come out out of this life unscathed, which is why you must believe in yourself and your resiliency.

You have a BRILLIANT idea, so you start pending days, months, years building it without ever market testing the idea... Then when the time comes to sell it, you can't figure out the right messaging and you can't get anyone to buy it. “Courage is not fearlessness; it is taking action and persisting despite that fear… The more actions you take facing fear, expressing yourself, and helping others, the easier and less stressful these actions become… I think of courage as taking determined action to serve an authentic, noble, or life-enhancing goal, in the face of risk, fear, adversity, or opposition.” -Brendon Bruchard

Sometimes it's easy to look around and think that someone else is so lucky, that they didn't have obstacles or struggles... But I've NEVER found that to be the case. Every single successful person who I admire, even from history, has had to overcome struggles and hardships. And the one constant is their ability to take action despite those fears, struggles and insecurities.

In today's episode, I'm sharing some of my own fears and struggles and why I'm going to crush those to be brave for my husband and children.

Each on of us has had to overcome hard things in our lives... Whether it was a physical, emotional, spiritual or other type of struggle it is hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and during the middle of that "hard thing" it ALWAYS seems like you're not going to make it out alive.

In this episode, I'm sharing how my underdog boxing story serves as a reminder that I CAN do hard things and come out on top of them in the end.

My "why" drives me in every aspect of my business and career. But believe me when I tell you that there are days I don't "feel like it" and when my body is literally in so much pain, when I want to give up, or do nothing. That's why for me, it's so important to remember why I'm working so hard and what it's all for. ESPECIALLY, when I feel exhausted and like I want to give up.

In this episode I'm sharing how I deal with life, when things don't go according to plan. And why you need to know that why so you don't let your fears, or weakness control that greatness that each of us has within ourselves.

Yes, you read that correctly. I am having MAJOR storytelling and storyline issues with Toy Story 4. Spoiler alert, as a LOVER of all things Toy Story and the entire franchise... I couldn't stand the latest installment of the newest flick. I mostly blame my recent story telling courses and the 28 Day Challenge that I taught my students to tell more compelling and powerful stories.

This episode is mostly a rant on all of the things I would've changed if I were in charge of Toy Story 4 story telling.

Everyone has interests and EVERYONE starts somewhere, but in order to get paid to do what you love, it usually helps to be considered as an "expert". But in order to be an expert, must be good enough at what you do for others to find value in what you do, and actually want to pay you. Notice how I didn't say you MUST go get a degree in that topic.

I recently had my photo featured on Maggie Sotterro Designs Instagram, (which was such a compliment!) from a bridal shoot I did back in April of 2018. In it, I was wearing a size 14 wedding dress that fit me like a glove. It's also helpful to note that I weighed over 200 pounds and I was also 16 weeks pregnant in this shoot.

It was a good experience, but I'm always SO surprised at how the comment section can be so opinionated and make you feel like your not enough, even as a plus-sized model...

You may have previously heard that motherhood is the hardest job I've ever done. For me it is SO. FREAKING. HARD. to find fulfillment in. Don't get me wrong, I love my kiddos more than life itself... but it's still hard to find joy in the poopie diapers, endless sticky surfaces and piles of laundry. Which had me thinking... What IS my job as a parent?

I've been thinking about this A LOT, and honestly it's a topic that used to STRESS. ME. OUT.  But as I've been researching (and working with my therapist) I've learned that my actual job is so much simpler (is that even a word? Simpler?)... Love is what I'm getting at. Your ONLY job as a parent is to love your kids. Love.

Take a listen.

There is a shame-based fear of being ordinary (especially on social) that we face in our generation and culture today. It’s hard not to compare ourselves to the perfect-looking women, their perfect children, their perfect houses and their thousands of followers on social media. Sometimes, we let ourselves see that image of perfection as the standard when it shouldn't be.   -Brené Brown

If you have been wondering about sponsorships and how to get one to work with you, you are in the right place!

But it's more than just trying to see how many "free" things you can get from sponsors. What do you have to give them? How can you make their experience working with you unforgettable? If you can't work with a sponsor, without giving back and being easy to work with... You probably won't make it very far in this industry.

In todays episode, I'm sharing one of my biggest trade secrets to getting sponsors to not only donate to my events, and pay to work with me, but to also have them asking to work together again!

Embarrassed, ashamed, inadequate.

Isn't it interesting how our perception can shape our experiences? Looking back at this experience in particular, I allowed it to define my worth as a person for Way. Too. Long. When the reality is, these are the exact things that mold us and help us to become more understanding and accepting of others and the world around us.

Today I’m going to share a story I’ve never told ANYONE before (except my husband Nick)... and I hope by sharing it, you can realize that you are more than your experiences and you have value to offer, even when others can’t see it. Move on and find your tribe.

Also, here is the video link that I mentioned in the episode: https://vimeo.com/105788896

Did you know that your brain in made up of thousands and thousands of neurological pathways (thoughts that shape your beliefs?) In todays episode, we will be diving into the science behind your thoughts and why keeping negative thoughts in check is SO important for your success. Track your thoughts daily and be aware of what kinds of things you believe and tell yourself over and over all day. Keep a small journal of the following thought patterns to see if you are creating a place of growth and believe, or planting seeds of doubt and failure in yourself and others. What thoughts do I think about myself? What do I think about when I see something I want in someone else? What do I talk about with my 5 closest friends? What do I tell others when they are pursuing their goals/dreams? When I start a new project or skill, do I talk myself out of it because I'm worried I'll look bad, dumb, or foolish?

What do you do?

Have you ever been stumped by this question? Not knowing what to say or how to explain what you do is more common than you think! But it doesn't have to be. In todays episode I'm going to be sharing about the power of crafting  your elevator pitch. What is an elevator pitch you may ask? It's a quick 30 second (or LESS) blurb about who you are, what you do, and why anyone should care.

Use this quick bio about yourself to make connections quickly and build your network.

In todays episode I'm referencing the movie "Field Of Dreams", and how building something that you believe in (as crazy as it may seem), can give you purpose and create that place for others too.

Have you ever felt a little crazy for building something (or thinking about building something) that NO ONE understands? I remember when I first stared my blog, I would get pushback from people who didn’t get it. Questions like: Why? What's the point? Doesn't that seems kind of self-centered?! were asked all the time... And all you can do is shrug and remind them that it gives you joy and makes you feel purpose to share what you know, even when it's unclear in the beginning.

Eventually, I was able to take my blogging platform to create and share my passion for events, and while it took a minute to get there, I am SO glad I kept going. Now with this new platform of podcasting, starting over essentially, it has reminded me to keep building my vision in a better way to serve more people with my experiences and the connections I've made along the way.

Winners lose more than losers.

It's easy to think that failure is a sign that you're doing something wrong and it can make you feel like you're not cut out, or qualified to chase your dreams. But the truth is that failure is meant to be a teacher, it's THE thing that molds your character, keeps you humble, pushes your creativity, and allows you to help others. The people who learn from their mistakes and failures quickly are the ones who will always win in the end. The key is to keep going and starting again as often as needed.

Choose to see failure as a step in the journey, not something to be embarrassed about or ashamed of. EVERYONE who is successful has gone through failure,  if they can work hard to get past hard things,  you can too.

In life we are all going to deal with "hard" days. I put hard in parenthesis because "hard" is relative, right? What's hard for me may not be hard for you and vice versa. Going through hard experiences is inevitable, it's how you'll act during those times that is the true measure of your dedication and commitment to your goals.

Find a reason to stick to your goals, even when you're not motivated. Choose to make your body act when you say go, and do not succumb to your body telling you that it's too tired, or not good enough or smart enough... Those are all lies. You CAN do it, and you are always allowed to ask for help too!

I created the The Party Planner Academy as a labor of love to help guid aspiring event planners to creating a business as an event planner without a college degree... Hello I'm literally the poster child for that! But if you're new to me or my course, it could be a super scary investment that you're just not sure about, and if it could REALLY work for you. I'm currently building a 28-Day Challenge, that is a results based blitz to help get you on the path to wanting to invest in yourself and your ideas more.

During the challenge you'll have daily action items that will help you build a platform, learn how to content create and batch, as well as give you an online presence and portfolio... It could either be a huge win or a learning experience... but either way I'm sure you'll hear about how it's going as I plan to share openly about what worked and what didn't.

As harsh as it is to hear, NO ONE wants to be told that their baby is ugly! But I promise you, that if someone took the time to give you feedback, it's most-likely NOT about you as a person.

In this episode I'll be giving you a FULL recap of my 80s Ladies Dance Party from last night, the good the bad and what I'm learning. And I have to tell you, it's interesting how much you learn about yourself when you become an entrepreneur... I think MOST of us love the idea of going into business for ourselves and being our own boss for the financial potential and benefits (because we're all looking at it through rose-colored glasses in the beginning). But as soon as you start going, you realize quickly that in order to truly wow your customer and be successful, you'll need to make changes and quickly... "Fail quickly" is a term that comes to mind that couldn't be more true for me. Basically learn from your mistakes, and course correct fast and often.

While business lessons are easily applicable for me meaning I can make those changes quickly, the emotional and mental ones I STILL struggle with and have to work on everyday. So I'll also be sharing a little more insight into my experiences and biggest takeaways from participating in the Mrs. Utah Pageant I participated in back in 2017... and how sometimes you realize the hard way that the "I am enough" work you did in the past, isn't a bulletproof one and done.

My next Ladies Only Dance Party is coming up in a couple of days, and it's actually a full-circle moment for me. You see, this dance party theme is the same as my VERY FIRST dance party theme, the one I did back in 2016. That first event was hard, it had a lot of things go wrong and I was not even close to prepared for the real amount of work it would take to pull it off.  Take a walk with me down memory lane as I share some of my biggest light bulb moments and how far I've come as an event planner, since those early days as hostess of my own events.

I believe the old adage "You are the sum of the five people you spend the most time with." Which is why I am incredibly intentional with my relationships. And until last year when my brother moved to Salt Lake City with his family, I didn't have any family in the state of Utah. Because of that I've been blessed to call many friends "my family" and I am so honored to introduce you to today's very special guest: Heather Kahlert

Heather is the Executive Vice President of her family's foundation: The Kahlert Foundation

She spends her time supporting non-profit organizations and helping them to foster a business mindset to create lasting change and impact in the state of Utah. Heather is also a mother of three, an avid reader and is headed back to school to get her MBA in business.

In this episode, I share about the first time I met Rachel Hollis! Also in this episode, my biggest takeaways for attending a blogger conference (or networking event). I was able to learn about the next steps I needed to take from multiple speakers and classes, and I was able to tweak and apply that advice to my business. My biggest takeaways from that conference were these: 1. Make A Plan Go in with intention and a game plan. What are you hoping to get out of this conference? Who would you like to meet or network with? What classes would be most beneficial for you? Plan ahead by mapping out your day ahead of time and be flexible if plans need to change. 2. Don't Get Distracted By FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) There are lots of things to do, people to meet and see, contests to enter, swag bags to enjoy, and photo booths to get a cute photo at. But those should be secondary to the things that you're REALLY trying to accomplish. 3. The Fortune Is In The Follow-Up Regardless of what you think you need to make successful contacts and connections, the only thing you need to be good at is follow-up. As what they are looking for, and go from there. If there is a specific thing that they need from you to move forward, they'll tell you. Everyone starts somewhere, and this is my story.

Hey there! I'm Chelsey Curtis and I'm glad your here. I'm a Professional Event Planner, the creator behind The Party Planner Academy and the Hostess of the Ultimate Girls-Night Out, Women's Only Dance Parties.

I currently live in Utah, (originally from Southern California) and I was raised with a mom who loved to spend weeks planing parties and entertaining, it was a huge part of our culture and upbringing. And I'm talking pre-Pinterest days, so you KNOW we were serious party planners.

I've been married to my best friend Nick for 11 years and together we have two kids. When I first became a stay-at-home mom in 2012 I struggled finding my place. I knew I needed something more than just being a mom. I had this drive to create and accomplish more with my day than changing diapers... Sound familiar? I wanted to feel like "me" again because I felt completely lost and lonely in my new role as mom. I had no clue what I was doing when I launched my blog: www.Housewife2Hostess.com but it's been a fun adventure that has turned into my business. In this podcast, I'll share what it's taken me to get here and where I want to go next.

It's taken many years of rejection, failing and learning from my mistakes, but I've created something I'm truly proud of and I love getting paid to share my creative events and design talents with sponsors online and off.

My hope with this new platform is to create a place where aspiring event planners can come together and listen to honest conversations about becoming a paid event planner, learn from the mistakes I've made, learn from some of the best in the industry, so you can start leveraging your talents (and the internet) to make money creating party content online too.
