In John 19, we encounter four types of lies directed at Jesus, coming from the crowd, Pilate, Judas, and others. These instances serve as a guide for anticipating falsehoods in our own lives. Thankfully, we can rely on the shield of faith to protect us from the lies that come our way from both external sources and the prevailing culture.
In John 18:38 Pilate asks Jesus while on trial, "What is truth?". This question, that has been asked for hundreds of years, is still being asked today. In this episode we discuss truth being on trial in our culture and how we should respond when faced with the same question directly.
In this current event centered episode, we learn how to navigate the news cycle with mindfulness and contribute constructively to important conversations, through the lens of faith and hope that we find in Christ. We share information that leads to preparation, while gaining perspective for what lies ahead.
Ron Luce is our guest speaker today. Ron is the co-founder and president of Teen Mania Ministries which was located in Garden Valley, Texas. Together with his wife Katie, Ron founded Teen Mania in 1986 and led the organization until its bankruptcy in 2015. Luce is now CEO of a new ministry called Generation Next. Ron delivers a stirring message concerning reaching the next generation for Christ.
We discuss John 17:22 where Jesus says, "The glory that you have given me I have given to them...", and the implications of that for the Church at-large, compared to what "glory" looks like in the world, and how to find purpose.
There is a crisis of the worst proportions happening in Haiti right now. You won't learn about it from mainstream media, as it's become a forgotten story of corruption and poverty. Haiti is currently and arguably the least developed country in the world. What should be our response and how do we help our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ during this time of turmoil. In John chapter two, he details a wedding that Jesus and the disciples attended, where Jesus performs his first miracle...turning water into wine. We discuss the impact, meaning and symbolism of this in context of where Jesus was in his ministry, and how being 'poured out like a drink offering' as described later by Paul informs us on how we are to live today.

Romans 8:14-30 speaks of our Father adopting us into His sonship, the present suffering and the future glory. However, our current culture and the powers-that-be have an idea on how we achieve future glory (reset), and it’s in direct conflict with how Scripture describes this process (restoration). An Easter Egg in the book of Mark:
Mark 14:51 A young man, wearing nothing but a linen garment, was following Jesus. When they seized him, 52 he fled naked, leaving his garment behind.

He wasn't just a streaker.
The only other time in the NT where there is a "young man" wearing "white linen" is in the most fascinating place.
Mark 16:5 As they entered the tomb, they saw a "young man" dressed in a "white robe" (same Greek Word) sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed.
When the Mary's and Salmome found Jesus' tomb, there again was a young man in white linen. It's not an angel. (the NIV version in verse 6 says "then the angel said" but that word is added. it's not in the original Greek. it's not in KJV, ESV, etc)
What if this is John Mark himself inserting his story of redemption into his book? What if this was his version of an easter egg on that first Easter morning.
The two mentions make no sense on their own, but taken together we get a glimpse of his redemption. We get a picture of our own.
Leaving behind his white linen, running away naked. Meeting the resurrected Christ and given a new white robe.
The message of the Gospel embedded. Leaving behind my righteousness, putting on the new white robe of HIS righteousness.

Jesus died at 33 years old. Taken out before He ever got started. Didn't have the chance to write out his teachings. He Didn't have time to establish a pecking order. No other world religion was founded by someone who had failed so spectacularly.
Unless his death was necessary for the founding. Unless his death was the religion.
If Jesus was just the incarnation of the "cosmic Christ" to show us the best way to be to attain enlightenment (as Richard Rohr teaches) His death at 33 makes no sense. If Jesus' incarnation and death were just to show us how much he loved us, then someone get a gun and shoot me, I want Shannon to know how much I love her. That's only loving if I'm standing between her and someone trying to shoot her.
He showed us the purpose of His death by sharing it with his disciples at a Passover meal.
Mark 14:16 "So they prepared the Passover."
In the supper that's recorded in Mark 14:12-26 Jesus tells us why He was going to die. By picking up a piece of bread at Passover, and telling his Jewish followers that this bread represents my body broken for you. This cup represents my blood of the covenant for you.
And the lamb? There was no lamb mentioned at this dinner.
That's because the lamb was speaking.
John 1:29 "The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!"
This Gospel is such great news. Jesus dying at 33 wasn't a failure at all. It wasn't an interruption of his work, It WAS His work.
And His resurrection is proof that it worked. The sacrifice was accepted. Your sins are forgiven.
“Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea…” What mountain is he referring to?
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18

What do you want me to do for you? That's the question Jesus asked Bartimeaus. It's the question He asks you and me. Our answer to this question depends 100% on who we believe that He is.
“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Knowing that Jesus died is an important part of our faith. Understanding WHY He died is just as important.
The Disciples were standing there as broke, powerless, and unknown as when they started following Jesus. Peter asked a question that any single one of us would ask- “but what about us Jesus?

This was our first remotely broadcast Conduit. Of course being in North Dakota made it extra special:) In Chapter 13 God is leading the people of Israel with a cloud by day and fire by nite. Psalm 105:39 indicates that the cloud was given as a covering over them. God paints a beautiful picture of how He still leads us today.
God often uses events to paint a picture for us. The Passover is one of the most amazing pictures in the Bible of who Jesus is and what He would do.
Egypt is a picture of the world system. Pharoah offered Moses an opportunity to leave if only he would leave behind some stuff. Moses said no.
One more night with the frogs? That's what Pharaoh requested, and that's just what he got.
There is a lot going on these days in Israel. I've written about them on my blog at www.darrentyler.com I decided to record some of my thoughts for the podcast.
Moses goes home for the first time in 40 years. Standing in the palace of Pharaoh that Moses himself used to play in as a child. He found his dreams that were buried long ago were resurrected by God.
We've fixed our recording quality issues. God calls Moses and Moses feels completely unqualified and unable. Gods first question to Moses was "what's in your hand?" This is the basis for ministry for all of us.
God loves nobodies. Moses was a somebody in Egypt. He was rich, powerful and educated. At 40 years old it would have made perfect sense for God to launch the exodus at that moment, except that He didn't. He led Moses to the back side of the desert where he would spend the next 40 years becoming a nobody. If you feel like a nobody, like you have no power, no influence, no popularity then you're in great company. If you do feel like you have all those things, God might need you to take a trip to the desert.
Even when it seems like God is absent, He is in fact working. Like Israel we might not see it, but just below the surface even right now, God is in fact working. Our deliverer is coming.
There are so many striking similarities between Jesus and Moses, and for our time that we live in specifically. When Jesus was talking to Moses on the Mount of Tranfiguration (such a spiritual sounding term) it says that they were talking about Jesus "departure" which in the original Greek is exodos. Jesus was bringing about a new exodus, setting up a new kingdom. With everything going on in our world around us, what a great time to start a study on Exodus.
This was a teaching I did at The Journey on October 12. It was first planned as something that I was going to share back in August. Due to the death of my mother it I never got to share it. 2 months later I realized that this might not be a "new" Word but it is most definitely a "now" Word. I took a few minutes to kind of talk about that last night with my mother, and then some thoughts on how Gods Word truly was a lamp to my feet during this process.
After 10 days in a hospital with my dying mother these are just some random thoughts, experience, etc. Bottom line is that Gods Word truly was and remains a light unto my path.

There has been a debate that has raged for millenia on whether you are secure in your salvation or not. Putting the theological gymnastics aside, this is an important question for folks who are struggling with the issue personally. Have you just done too much? Have you blown it too bad? Are you for sure going to heaven? Hebrews 6 is a chapter that is a tough one to stomach. It seems to contradict the idea that you are secure in your salvation. But does it really?
We took some time and dug a little deeper into exactly what it means that Gods Word is alive, active and sharp. Gods Word isn't used for lopping off our sinful parts, but for a deeper more pure reason.
God has spoken in Jesus. The language of God is Jesus. God speaks to us in His Son. In the language of Son. In "sonnish".
