In the second installment of the Inspire Series, Chad Gravenorst (registered biokineticist) joins the show to discuss his journey from playing baseball as a youngster in South Africa to working full time for Major League Baseball (MLB). Chad talks about what it is like to work for MLB and we look at the path he took to get to this point. Studying at UWC, and then working at the Sports Science Institute of South Africa, Chad details his experiences and the opportunities that led to him meeting Mark Melancon (one of the best closers in the game, currently with the San Francisco Giants). We then talk about his decision to take up an internship in Houston, Texas at the Fairchild Sports Performance and what it was like to come back to South Africa.
In this episode, Jacques and I discuss his journey from playing cricket in Durban to running his own coaching business in the UAE. During the episode Jacques talks about the challenges of trying to play social cricket in Dubai and growing up playing cricket as left arm leg spinner. He then talks about the start of his coaching career and his experience with formal qualifications. Thereafter, Jacques talks about what his experiences have taught him and how it is helping him manage his own business. He also shares the story behind why the reason he sets up every session about an hour before the time and what punctuality means to him.
