When, if ever, is it best to "settle" – to opt for a relationship, or a career, or anything else that's less than you'd hoped for? Are we overlooking one critical element of success when creating a business? We systematically think business plans, investors, technology, social media but we don't usually think of our inner world. However, a business is a reflection of who we are, so spending the time to uncover who we truly are without the expectations, the defined norms of our society and our self-limiting beliefs is an essential part of reaching success and becoming an inspiring leader. This inner work is often overlooked and instead people find it much easier to invest that time in constantly gruelling away to succeed. Unfortunately, hard work without a soul is like a car without a steering wheel.
Join me on today’s episode of The Uncharted Leader as I speak with Oriane Juncker, Founder and CEO of Spotz about her mission to give Mums their power back so that they can find & deliver to their purpose as well as shape a society that is supportive of their role.
Oriane is a highly ambitious & passionate entrepreneur, seeker of knowledge and truth, a loving mum to two boys, and has an amazing husband who fits somewhere in her busy life. Oriane was born in France and lived in many countries before she moved to Sydney with her family. Her journey & experience with the different cultures has made her question the existing cultural norms and if they play a role in defining who we become versus who we truly are. For most of her life, she has always challenged the norms, traditions, cultures, beliefs & conformism but with a feeling of guilt. She has recently embraced this blessing in disguise taking her new found power back, and creating the path to make a difference for Mums in our society.

Are you taking the actions you know to take when it comes to achieving your goals? Are you really doing everything it takes, to get the results you want? What if there was something miraculous waiting for you on the other side of taking action that you could not even imagine right now?
In 2020 Steve Hui was listed as one of Linkedin In’s Top 20 Voices. He’s a well-known identity across the media and the industry, regularly seen on Australian TV, newspapers, magazines and interviews, sharing his 10 year of experience understanding what points members really want from their programs.
Steve is the Founder and CEO of iFLYflat, an Australian reward points travel company that helps select small business clients with strategies to fly Business class on points and transform their travel lifestyle.
Join me as I talk with Steve about his experience in existing a corporate role with Macquarie Bank in the middle of the GFC without any idea of what he was going to do next, how his first-ever experience of business travel set him on a direction he never expected, how he and his team have successfully navigated the massive disruption in the travel industry by focusing on the obvious opportunities and his tips for how to get the experience of travel when you can’t physically get where you’d rather be.
With a background in Finance, it’s no surprise Steve says the secret to success lies in the detail and, in the case of rewards points, understanding the maths behind the points helps you to realise just what you're missing out on and when that happens you’d clearly kick yourself for not having taken action sooner - and rewards points is not the only area where that applies!

Join me on this week’s episode as I talk with Stella about her passion for “failing forward” as the key to success and how our fear of failure can overcome our desire to accomplish something so overwhelmingly that we quit before we’ve even started and get bogged down in negative self-talk that we lose sight of what we’re capable of.
Stella founded the REO Group in 2009, which went on to win many awards, including being named a BRW Fast 100 Company. She's been named one of Australia's Top 10 Female Entrepreneurs, she currently Chairs for CEO consortium '2020 Exchange and her mission "to elevate human potential by working with executives to deliver value for their organisations through leadership, strategy and vision"

Making decisions is something we do every day, and while most of us take it for granted the process is not as straightforward as one would think. Today is the fourth conversation in a 5-part series with Paul Gordon, an expert in decision thinking and the author of 'Hard Decisions Made Easy", talking about the final principle of structured decision making: Intangible and Tangible Value. We care about much more than just what we can measure, such as money, so good decision making takes into account everything that we care about, both intangible (such as reputation, the environment, client satisfaction) and tangible (revenue, profit). We need to give a balanced consideration of all these factors, not just focus on the ones we can measure otherwise we will always be unhappy with our decisions, and we might not know why. You got a high profile corporate job, a big home, luxury car, a family and a good social life. You’ve got everything you ever wanted, but one very important thing, sleep!
Truth be told, everyday is a struggle, kick-starting the day with coffee, loading up on sugar-injected, adrenalin pumping until you walk in the door at the end of the day and unwind with a few beers and maybe a glass (or in some cases a bottle) of wine.
You are not alone. New research reveals more Australians are deprived of sleep and despite the serious consequences - ranging from obesity, mental fog, a short-temper, irritable, disconnected and poor mental health - very few are doing anything about it.
After experiencing chronic insomnia for most of her life, Natalie McCann transformed her life from a constant source of stress, exhaustion and an endless game of people-pleasing, to becoming a calm, centred and focussed health professional specialising in (you got it) sleep!
Join me on today’s episode of The Uncharted leader as Natalie shares her own transformation, having tried naturopaths, doctors, acupuncturists, over-exercising, gentle exercising and living a healthier lifestyle to eventually discovering the secret to a better night's sleep.
Natalie is an executive sleep coach helping professionals get a better night sleep so they can enjoy their work and get the best out of themselves and their teams.
A leader is someone who isn’t afraid to be themselves and let the best of themselves shine through. “ - Natalie

Get a Copy of Hard Decisions Made Easy: How Leaders in large organisations make complex decisions stick on Amazon Key takeaway: For a big decision you are facing, write down the stakeholders - and think broadly, not just the obvious ones. It doesn’t make sense that we expect leaders to come with all of the answers. Whether it's the pace or size of disruption in changing structures or refining strategies, the adoption of new technology which can be superseded by the time it's implemented, or the rapid pace of growth in the latest fintech environments, the impact on an executive weighs heavily. So heavily, that it’s having a massive impact on executive burnout.
In 2008 the average tenure of an executive in Australia was 5 years, in 2018 it was 3 years. This year, the average tenure for an executive is estimated at only 18 months!
What’s going on and how does a leader keep up the pace with such rapid growth and change?
Join me on today’s episode of The Uncharted Leader as I talk with Dexter Cousins, the Founder and Managing Director of Tier One People, an Executive Search Consultancy working with world class Fintech companies on the right leadership talent.
Dexter is an industry thought leader in talent and leadership. He is the host and creator of the FinTech AU podcast and, was this year, recognised as one of LinkedIn’s Top 20 Voices of Australia.

Life as we know it is under threat - it’s volatile, ambiguous and uncertain. Despite billions spent on the economy, people everywhere - colleagues, family, friends - are feeling misplaced. While 85% of people are unhappy at work, surprisingly people are 85% more engaged if they feel someone within the organisation has their back!
If ever there was a time to invest in a mentor, or be mentored, that time is now!
Mentoring is a powerful way to connect, learn and grow. Whether you’re a business owner, entrepreneur, executive, emerging leader, parent or student, mentoring is a direct access to developing leadership capability, unlocking potential, enhancing loyalty and driving innovation and performance.
You don’t need to take my word for it, check out the statistics.
71% of Fortune 500 companies invest in mentoring to promote learning, reduce employee turnover and develop, grow and retain skills and expertise within the organisation.
Productivity and innovation increases by 88% when mentoring and training are made together vs 24% with training alone.
60% of young future leaders listed mentoring as a priority when considering their next employer.
Effective mentoring boosts retention rates by 69% for mentors and 72% for mentees.
Join me on today’s episode of The Uncharted Leader as I talk with Simone Allan, CoFounder & CEO of The Mentor Evolution about the power of mentoring, the importance of surrounding ourselves with people who have our back, the ground-breaking work she is doing in providing organisations with the technology to make more meaningful connections and launching the Women’s Resilience Centre, a place of hope, healing and recovery for women who have experienced domestic abuse and trauma.
Simon’s passionate about connecting trusted talent with speed to build businesses. She started her own business, Mondo, an Executive Search Consultancy, 21 years ago, has placed 2800 people into leadership roles and is the longest standing female member of the Sydney Chapter of Entrepreneurs Organization.

Did you know less than 5% of VC funding goes to female led businesses?
There are more barriers than we care to imagine. One of those barriers is the difference in approach between men and women when it comes to pitching. While women are underplaying their strengths and the direction of the business, Men are overly confident about themselves, the vision and the business; and thus more effective in appealing to the confidence of investors.
Join me on today’s episode of The Uncharted leader as I talk with Sheree Rubinstein, the Founder of One Roof about the barriers to women advancing in business, the issues preventing them from getting the much-needed funds and support they need to be successful and more importantly the brilliant resources and programs that are now widely available to help women rise strong!
Sheree began her career as a corporate lawyer working at a top tier law firm. When she discovered the stark and persisting barriers that exist for women in business Sheree set out to change the numbers. Recognised as an expert in curating programs, spaces and environments that support women to thrive in business, Sheree’s mission is to reshape the world of work for women.

Done right, storytelling is a powerful and lucrative tool for your brand. But, done wrong, not only is it as useless as tits on a bull, you’re likely to waste hundreds of hours and dollars without any return on your investment.
So, what does this overused buzzword actually mean for you and your brand?
Storytelling is one of my deepest passions and, as a descendent of the stolen generation, one of my inherited talents. Storytelling is a term that everybody interprets in their own way. As an indigenous person, the life lessons brought about in storytelling are essential for making sense of the world and more importantly to connect and teach about values, history, cultural beliefs, relationships and sacred events.
Join me on today’s episode of The Unhcared Leader as I talk about the power of storytelling to cultivate connection with Storytelling, Speaker and Communication Coach Marsha Shander. Featuring in Forbes, BBC and Mashable, Marsha’s worked with hundreds of individuals and groups of executives, entrepreneurs and professionals across Canada, the US and the UK. As organisations undergo enormous change, leaving thousands of people unemployed, serendipitously thousands more are exploring the opportunities of being an entrepreneur.
Becoming an entrepreneur is more than starting a business, it's a mindset, or in the case of Orion Brown, Founder & CEO of BlackTravelBox, it’s a case of mind reset.
For women of color, the business world continues to be a playing field riddled with stereotypes, malignancy, and injustice. The onus is often on the women of color to figure out how to work around these challenges rather than being on the white/cis/male leadership who create the culture. We're pushing for legislation, protesting, creating coalitions, etc rather than a heavy lift from the community as a whole to recognize and reverse these behaviors.
Before becoming an entrepreneur, Orion spent 15 years in brand strategy, business management and consumer marketing, with the bulk of her career at Kraft Foods working across several global brands.
Join me on today’s episode as we talk with Orion about her journey as an entrepreneur, being courageous and her vision for a world where the concept of normal is challenged and Black women are able to access products that celebrate their own unique qualities.

But, what happens when we fear being authentic will cost us our job, career, or reputation?

Let's be honest, as adults, we spend a lot of our time pretending to be important. While there’s a time and a place for being serious, there is a paradox - when we let go of the facade that we have “it” (life and leadership) handled and we create from a place of play, real magic happens.
Jeff Harry is an expert in working with individuals and organisations like Google, Microsoft, Southwest Airlines, Adobe, the NFL, Amazon and Facebook to infuse more play into your day to tap into your true self, feel your happiest and most fulfilled.
Jeff believes that when we let our inner child play, we can find our purpose and, in turn, help create a better world.
Jeff was selected by BambooHR as one of the Top HR Influencers of 2020 to watch. His work has been featured on AJ+, SoulPancake, SF Chronicle and CNN, and he’s presented at conferences all over the world including Australia’s very own Pausefest.
