A new £20 million Business Innovation & Growth programme to help drive forward economic recovery has been announced by First Minister Alex Salmond. A French management services company is creating 400 new jobs across the central belt of Scotland.
Webhelp TSC – which already employs almost 3,000 people in Scotland – is setting up 294 new positions in its Glasgow base, 76 in Larbert and 30 in Kilmarnock. The company has also set up its own training academy to promote youth employment, by equipping young people with the skills for work.

The latest labour market statistics covering the three month period December 2011-February 2012 show that employment in Scotland is rising and unemployment is falling, on the same day that GDP figures show a better performance in Scotland than in the rest of the UK and the Eurozone.
