True freedom begins when you stand in the verdict of "no condemnation" and learn to rely on the indwelling Holy Spirit. How can you practically put to death the persistent sins that hold you back? Watch to discover four active steps to reclaim your peace, reset your mind, and live in the fullness of God's power. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Pastor Jeff continues the No Mercy series by exploring Romans 7 and the true purpose of God's law. Many people mistakenly run back to the law to prove they are good enough, falling into the trap of legalism. The law acts like a mirror that shows us our spiritual dirt, but it lacks the power to wash us clean. True righteousness and personal transformation come only through a life united with Jesus Christ. Are you tired of trying harder only to fail again? Watch this message to discover how to escape the trap of rule-keeping and embrace the freedom of abiding in grace. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
In this message, Pastor Jeff explores what it means to serve a new master. Watch to discover practical steps for presenting yourself fully to God and experiencing the true freedom of grace. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Pastor Jeff continues the "No Mercy" series by exploring the true identity of a believer. Are you still trying to live in your old grave clothes, struggling with the same old habits? Watch this video to discover how to walk in the freedom and power of your new life in Christ. What if the greatest enemy you'll ever face isn't out there—it's inside you? Pastor Jeff opens this powerful series, No Mercy, with a stunning confession from the Apostle Paul: "The good I want, I do not do. But I practice the very evil I do not want" (Romans 7:19). If the foremost missionary theologian struggled with sin's relentless grip, you're not alone in your battle. This message will shatter the illusion that commitment alone can set you free—and point you toward the only One who can. Don't miss it. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
What if the clay refuses the potter's hands—and a nation forgets who formed it? On America's 250th birthday weekend, Pastor Jeff opened Jeremiah 18 to reveal four sobering truths: God forms nations, restores obedient ones, judges disobedient ones, and ultimately abandons rebellious ones. Like Israel hauled into Babylonian captivity, no nation is untouchable—but revival only takes a faithful few willing to bend the knee. Don't let hopelessness win. Watch or listen now and discover how your surrender could be part of God's next great movement in America. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
What if God is still writing your story, even when the storm has raged for 14 days and the ship is breaking apart? In Acts 27–28, Pastor Jeff walks us through Paul's harrowing journey—shipwreck, snakebite, hostile crowds, and two years under guard—revealing five powerful truths: nothing will redirect your course, sink your calling, end your assignment, stop God's timing, or silence your message. Like Paul breaking bread in the storm's chaos, you can trust that God's faithfulness holds even when circumstances scream otherwise. Don't miss this message—it will anchor your soul. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
What if the very chains holding you back are actually positioning you for your greatest moment of witness? In Acts 25–26, Pastor Jeff unpacks how the Apostle Paul—imprisoned for two years—suddenly stood before kings, governors, and city leaders, not by accident, but by God's perfect design. God opens the doors, assembles the audience, and empowers the witness—all you bring is availability. Whether you're a father, a neighbor, or someone who's believed the lie that your story isn't good enough, this message will change how you see every conversation. Don't miss it. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Pastor Jeff reminded us that following Jesus doesn't guarantee an easy life—it often means enduring trials, delays, and opposition. Through Paul's two-year imprisonment in Acts 24, we see a man who refused to be shaken by critics, compromise his convictions, waste his circumstances, or doubt God's faithfulness. God often does His greatest work in the hidden seasons, building character and preparing us for what lies ahead. When God's timing doesn't match our expectations, we can trust that He is still at work. Don't wait for perfect circumstances to serve Him—bloom where you're planted and remain faithful, knowing that God's promises are worth the wait. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
What if God's building courage in you through the very trials that make you want to quit? Paul stood before hostile crowds and corrupt leaders, declaring his clean conscience before God—only to be struck and threatened with death by forty conspirators. Pastor Jeff reveals how God uses questioned faithfulness, ineffective witness, overwhelming odds, and apparent failure as his curriculum for courage. When Paul's nephew overheard the murder plot, God's invisible hand delivered his visible plan—just as Jesus promised Paul would witness in Rome. Feeling overwhelmed in your calling? This message shows how every trial forges the courage you need for what's next. Don't miss this encouragement to keep moving forward! Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
What happens when your deepest shame becomes your greatest sermon? Pastor Jeff reveals the transformative power of testimony through the Apostle Paul's dramatic conversion story—showing us that every believer has an identical narrative of redemption. Paul wasn't just a "bad guy"—he was a violent terrorist against Christians, breathing murderous threats and giving approval to their deaths. Yet when Christ intercepted him on the Damascus road, everything changed. Pastor Jeff emphasizes that authentic Christianity isn't behavioral modification to appease an angry God, but total life transformation from the inside out. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
What does it truly cost to follow Christ with uncompromising courage? Pastor Jeff explores this through Paul's journey to Jerusalem in Acts 21, where he willingly faced imprisonment and suffering for the name of Jesus. Despite pleas from fellow believers to turn back, Paul remained steadfast, showing that authentic discipleship means staying faithful through opposition, surrendering personal preferences for gospel unity, and trusting God's purpose in every trial. From false accusations to brutal persecution, Paul used every moment as an opportunity to share Christ. Join Brave Church this Memorial Day weekend as we discover how God uses suffering to deepen our faith and expand His kingdom. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub

This isn't weakness; it's the power of a Savior who died for both the sinner and her accusers. Pastor Jeff takes us into Acts 20, where Paul demonstrates five powerful evidences of a life completely yielded to God. After narrowly escaping a riot in Ephesus, Paul doesn't retreat—instead, he gathers the disciples to strengthen and encourage them, modeling what it means to pour into others relentlessly. Through Paul's tearful farewell to the Ephesian elders, we see a leader who served with humility, obeyed courageously without compromise, and guarded the church vigilantly against false teaching. The Holy Spirit wants to work through you today to impact someone else's spiritual journey. Will you surrender your excuses and embrace the calling to be fully yielded to His purposes? Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub

This message is a call to move beyond comfortable Christianity into full surrender, deeper relationship with Christ, and the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. The question is simple: what's standing between you and your spiritual breakthrough? Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
What if God's calling you to stop waiting and start serving right now? Paul labored faithfully as a tent maker in Corinth—proof that kingdom leaders serve in obscurity before they lead visibly. Pastor Jeff challenges the lie that "one day I will" counts as obedience, showing how God builds character through faithful service, staying committed when ministry gets hard, trusting Him to guard what He assigns, and receiving input from fellow believers. Craving purpose or growing in faith? This message shows how God transforms potential into proven performance. Don't wait—dive in today! Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
What if the remnant God's seeking to spark revival is you? Paul boldly proclaimed Jesus as the exclusive path to salvation in Athens, confronting their cultural idolatry head-on despite fierce opposition. Pastor Jeff challenges us that revival doesn't require masses—just faithful few who clearly proclaim Christ, humbly receive Scripture, boldly confront idols, and urgently demand repentance. Through our Taking Ground campaign and expanding campuses, God's positioning us to reach more souls before judgment comes. Don't wait for perfect conditions or unanimous support—step into your calling now and watch God move through the willing remnant! Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
What if the most powerful weapon against opposition isn't strategy, but surrender? Pastor Jeff reveals how Paul and Silas discovered divine authority through trials—worshiping in chains until earthquakes shattered their prison walls. When the gospel disrupts everything, from fortune-telling businesses to entire households finding salvation, we learn God uses our circumstances to unleash His power and advance His kingdom. Whether you're facing unexpected detours or feeling beaten down, this message shows how letting God lead transforms your trials into triumphs. Don't miss this encouragement to trust His greater plan! Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This Easter sermon presents the fundamental gospel message centered on Christ's resurrection as validation of His claims and the pathway to salvation. The pastor emphasizes three critical truths: humanity's sinful nature and its eternal consequences, Christ's substitutionary death and resurrection as the only remedy, and the necessity of personally calling upon Jesus for salvation. The message challenges cultural assumptions about Christianity, warning that many who identify as Christians may not have genuinely repented and placed faith in Christ. Using the metaphor of GPS (God's Positioning System), the sermon urges listeners to examine where they stand on the road to eternal life, emphasizing that salvation is a free gift received through repentance and faith, not through religious affiliation, good works, or denominational membership. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub

Pastor Jeff delivered a sermon on parenting titled "God’s Plan for Parenting: A Generational Strategy" emphasizing training children in fearing and obeying God, hearing and loving Him, honoring and worshiping Him, and testifying and trusting in Him to encounter His presence. The sermon focused on Deuteronomy 6, highlighting instructions for training children to fear, obey, hear, love, honor, worship, testify, and trust in God. Key points included parents modeling fear and obedience, teaching children to hear and love God through His Word, prioritizing honoring and worshiping God, and instilling in children the importance of testifying and trusting in Him. Pastor Jeff stressed the impact of following God's plan for parenting to create a legacy of faith in future generations. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Pastor Jeff Schwarzentraub's sermon "Built to Last" underscores the significance of faithful proclamation in creating a biblical community. He explores the impact of Nehemiah 8:1-18, where unity arises from hearing and obeying God's word. Schwarzentraub stresses the role of consistent study and practice of the Scriptures, supporting male leadership in teaching, and the necessity of a worshipful response to God's message. Ultimately, he urges the congregation to find true joy, strength, and obedience in faithfully proclaiming God's word. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Pastor Jeff Schwarzentraub's sermon "Continued Building" emphasizes perseverance in faith, using Nehemiah's story to highlight the importance of following God's vision despite opposition. The sermon underscores the necessity of godly leadership, faithfulness to God's plan, and recognizing the significance of each individual's contribution to God's work. Ultimately, the sermon urges the congregation to glorify God, await heavenly unity, and continue building their faith in accordance with God's vision. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
The sermon highlighted Jesus as the ultimate example of living out God's truth, love, and service to others. It emphasized the importance of reflecting on Jesus' teachings to resolve conflicts within ourselves. Believers were encouraged to be champions of God's word, contagious in their witness, and conscientious in their work. The sermon guided listeners to seek reconciliation through the sacrificial love of Jesus and to actively involve God in resolving conflicts in their lives. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This weeks sermon emphasizes preparing Godly families for opposition, rejecting fear by trusting God's power, adapting tactics to reach people in the current culture, and encouraging unity and wholehearted participation in missions. Pastor Jeff uses Nehemiah's story to illustrate the importance of commitment, sacrifice, and unity in serving God. Believers are challenged to live fully for Jesus and be actively engaged in fulfilling the mission of making disciples. The sermon underlines the Church's central role in reaching nations and calls for believers to be spiritually strong, trusting, adaptable, united, and wholehearted in their dedication to Jesus' mission. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
On Easter Sunday, Pastor Jeff unpacks 1 Peter 3:18, highlighting Christ's death forgiving sins and bringing us to God. He stresses that salvation comes through faith in Christ alone, not by good works. The purpose of Christ's death is to bring believers into fellowship with God, not just perform good deeds. Belief in Christ's resurrection allows for transformation and hope for eternal life. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
The sermon by Pastor Jeff emphasizes forgiveness as central to the Christian faith, using Easter events and biblical stories. Forgiveness is depicted as limitless, costly, transferable, undeniable, and foundational to faith. The importance of extending forgiveness to others as we have received from God is highlighted for spiritual growth and to experience God's grace fully. The sermon concludes with an invitation for prayer and guidance on forgiveness, stressing its significance in fostering a deeper relationship with God. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we discussed how forgiveness is central to the Christian faith. Forgiveness is depicted as limitless, costly, transferable, undeniable, and foundational to faith. The importance of extending forgiveness to others as we have received from God is highlighted for spiritual growth and to experience God's grace fully. May this week's sermon be an encouragement for you to foster a deeper relationship with God through the practice of forgiveness. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week's sermon focuses on how Christians face more challenges as they grow in faith. When opposition escalates as we following God, it should encourage our reliance on prayer and wisdom and emphasizes the importance of standing firm in faith despite challenges. Believers are urged to trust in God's strength and remain steadfast in their allegiance, even when faced with discouragement. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week's sermon stresses serving God wholeheartedly and working together as a church. Pastor Jeff emphasizes worship, commitment, and humility using Nehemiah's rebuilding of the wall as an example. Believers are urged to serve without delay or seeking recognition, prioritizing God's work over personal desires. The overarching message is that everyone has a role in God's kingdom, and progress is achieved through devoted service. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we continued our series in the book of James and learned about four distinct requirements in order to be growing in the Word. God wants you to be conformed to the image of the Lord Jesus Christ and to respond in the proper way. The trials and temptations we go through in life are opportunities for us to be conformed to the fullness of the Lord Jesus Christ. When we ask what God desires us to do and how to respond through those trials and temptation, the answer is that He desires for you to grow in Christ by growing in His word. May this week's message be an encouragement to you to build your spiritual muscles and grow in the midst of trials and temptations. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we continued our series in the book of James and learned How to Defeat Temptation. While God is the One who authors and allows trials in our life for spiritual maturity, the enemy attempts to get us to veer off course by using temptation. This temptation is nothing more than trying to get us to fulfill a good desire in an ungodly way. Temptation is always a short cut that may seem okay at the time but leads to sin and ultimately death. When we give into temptation, we can never be living the fullness of what God requires of us and desires for us. The reality is that God is good, abundant, and lavish and will not withhold His best from us. The enemy, on the other hand, lies to us about God’s character and attempts to have people believe that lie. When we ruminate on the lie then we get discouraged and frustrated, which often leads to taking the bait of temptation. Since temptation is pervasive, we must be aware of where it originates, its deadly effects, and how we can live victoriously. May this week’s message be an encouragement to you. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we continued our series entitled Waging War Against Our Enemy by addressing how to Fight for the Kingdom. Understanding how to live as a visible demonstration of God’s comprehensive rule of every area of life makes a difference in our witness as we advance Christ’s kingdom. We learned that there is a clash of the kingdom of Christ and the kingdom of darkness, and winning that battle is imperative to Christ’s desires for this world that He created. This week we highlighted five areas that matter and clarified how we are going to experience God’s greatest blessing on this side of heaven by following these directives. Understanding how to fight for the kingdom will drive back the darkness and allow the light of Christ to shine brightly. May this week’s message help us with our marching orders for making disciples in a world that is hostile to Christ. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
In our current “woke” culture, God’s design for gender is being neglected to follow satanic ideologies that promote the LGTBQ agenda. At BRAVE we champion the Word of God and desire that both men and women can live out the fullness of their design and calling. On Mother’s Day we celebrated women by studying Proverbs 31. This week, on Father’s Day, we specifically addressed the men as we studied Paul’s exhortation to the Corinthians at the end of his first letter. The need of the hour is for men to be men and stand up and lead so that Christ can be glorified, and our culture will turn their hearts back to God. May this week’s message be an encouragement to both our men and women as we seek to honor the Lord. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we discussed the importance of God’s Presence and what is required for us to experience Him. Instead of religious rituals and routines we must experience God’s Presence to accomplish God’s purpose. So often, we rely on leadership seminars, self-esteem boosts, and self-help guides rather than the very presence of God. The reason people are leaving the church in droves and many people say that Christianity is a myth is because the Presence of God is lacking in our lives and in our ministries. There is a major difference between seeking God’s blessings and favor and seeking God Himself. May we be a people who seek the face of God rather than the hand of God. May Jesus Christ be high and lifted up and exalted in our lives! As you listen to this message, ask yourself what changes you may need to make for the Lord’s Presence to be manifest in your life. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week on Mother’s Day we addressed the significant value of a woman from Proverbs 31. In this text King Lemuel recalls to mind what his mother has taught him about the value of a woman and the kind of wife he was going to need to be successful in his calling. Throughout this great text of Scripture, one learns of God’s design, love and purpose for women. In our current culture that denigrates and devalues women, God elevates and encourages women to be the fullness of what God has created them to become. This inspirational and aspirational text not only blesses women but also helps men to understand how valuable women are to them being their best for Christ. God’s complementary design for gender is beautiful and our Creator is worthy of praise for His efforts. May this week’s message encourage you to trust our God’s authority on gender and His design for women. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we studied Exodus 30 and 31 as God gave further instructions for how the tabernacle was to be erected. As we continue to learn about God’s dealings with Israel, we see just how important it was for His people to understand how to worship Him. In this section of the Scriptures, we learned five ways of being an authentic worshipper. This was not a message about style and structure but rather what was needed in the heart of a worshipper of God. These five truths about authentic worship will be helpful to the new believer as well as to the seasoned veteran in their faith. Until we meet Jesus Christ we can continue to grow in our knowledge and ability to worship the Lord. May this week’s message and the following questions encourage and challenge you to grow as a worshipper of the Lord Jesus Christ. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we discussed the Good News of the Gospel and how to be successful in sharing the message of Christ. So often as believers, the message of the Gospel is in our hearts but we neglect our duty to serve Christ as His ambassador. However, sometimes the reason we are not involved in Gospel ministry is simply because we either don’t know how to share it or falsely believe we are not ready. Often we have seen other people share the Gospel and we think we will not be able to do that or they are not the model for what we want to become. Either way, we neglect our responsibility to share Christ with others. Therefore, it is imperative that we look at God’s Word and learn how to be ready to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ through our own temperament and personality. Throughout this week’s message we laid a foundation for the Gospel and 5 keys for how to share it. May the words of this week’s message be an encouragement to you. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we continued our series entitled The Kingdom Invasion. First, we studied the uniqueness of Jesus Christ and His ministry here on the earth. Next, we looked at His powerful ministry over demons, disease and even death. We then saw how Jesus Christ did not just do ministry Himself, but delegated ministry to His twelve apostles who He instructed to do exactly what He was doing. Most Christians agree to these truths and even celebrate them. This week, however, we studied how Jesus Christ did not just stop with the 12 but appointed 70 others (perhaps 72 in your translation) and sent them out to do exactly what He had sent the 12 to do. This demonstrates that Jesus was not just using the twelve but was also using normal, anonymous saints. The implications of this truth are important for us to understand because Jesus Christ still wants to use His Church to do the exact same things that He did during His earthly ministry. May the truths of this week’s message and the application of God’s Word grow your joy in Christ as you live on mission for Him. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we studied Matthew 10 and leaned about Jesus Christ’s first commissioning of the Twelve and the way in which He taught His apostles. Often, we read the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20 and falsely think that Jesus is now sending them out on mission for the very first time. However, upon further review we learn that He has been training and sending them all along. This week we studied four ways that He trained His twelve disciples. We learned that He had been asking them to pray to the Lord to send out workers into His field. We saw that He was asking them to pray so that they would be prepared to go. The fields are always ripe unto harvest, but the problem has always been that there are not enough people willing to go. Studying this passage should motivate you to not just learn the Word but to be ready to be sent by the Lord. May this week’s message encourage you to stay on mission. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we continued our series, entitled The Kingdom Invasion, by studying three powerful stories in Mark 5. Throughout the text we learned how Jesus Christ has authority and power over demons, disease and even death. As a believer, knowing about the authority and power of Christ helps us as we share the Gospel and as we grow in sanctification. Instead of looking at our problems or earthly solutions, God calls us to focus completely on Him. As circumstances cause you to feel desperate, act in faith and look to Jesus Christ. May this study on the life of Christ be an encouragement to you as you continue to walk with Him. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we started a new series entitled, The Kingdom Invasion. We began this series by looking at Mark Chapter 1 and seeing ten of the reasons why the ministry of Jesus Christ was very unique. These ten words demonstrate that there is no one like our God. As we prepare for Easter, we will continue to not only see how Jesus did ministry but how he invited us to do ministry in the same way as He modeled for us. Throughout the history of the Church, we have sometimes veered off course at times and missed God’s best for us. While we can talk about missions, evangelism, and discipleship we sometimes do a better job of talking about it rather than living the life of a disciple. However, we know that “the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk, but of power” (1 Corinthians 4:20). As we continue to journey with Christ may we become more aware of how to minister the way that Jesus Christ is encouraging us to do it. May this week’s message open your heart to how Jesus’ ministry was accomplished and how we can follow His methodology. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we discussed the purpose for the Tabernacle so that we would understand the heart of God for His people. Often when reading the Old Testament some Christians are confused about the application of the text for today. As we studied the Tabernacle, we learned about all that God wanted to do to demonstrate His holiness and His desire to dwell with His people. Having a proper understanding of the Tabernacle helps believers today to better comprehend God’s purposes in our world today. The tabernacle also helps us understand the person and work of Jesus Christ in greater measure. The reality is that God loves us and wants to be present and central in our lives today. May this week’s message be a strong encouragement in your relationship with Jesus Christ. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we discussed what God calls a man to be and to do. So many men in our culture are confused and have a difficult time understanding what they need to be doing. Regardless of vocation, a man is designed by God to serve God. As we have studied the life of Moses we have seen how he was God’s chosen instrument by design and what the Lord was requiring of him. Through a study of his life we learn valuable lessons about calling and how the Lord wants us to respond to Him. This week’s message highlighted four activities that men are called to engage if they are going to be the fullness of Jesus Christ. May the teaching of His Word grow and bless you. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we looked at three words that were keys for our spiritual growth in the Lord. Rest, worship, and trust are essential for us in our daily walk with Jesus Christ if we are going to experience God’s best. God spelled out for the nation of Israel these three concepts, which are all repeated throughout the entirety of the Scriptures. For many believers today we don’t know how to rest, don’t prioritize worship, and forget that trust is ongoing. In the message this week we were challenged from God’s Word to make sure that all three of these areas continued to grow. May God use the truths of His Word this week to help you grow in your relationship with Christ. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week as a church we ended our 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting. It was such a joy to know that so many different people had participated in a variety of ways. Seeking the Lord is such a blessing, but as we know, for every spiritual high there can be an equal spiritual low. The more you desire to see the face of the Lord the more opposition, resistance and temptation you will experience. For these reasons we studied what Jesus experienced after His forty day fast in the wilderness. Although Jesus Christ is God and it would have been impossible for Him to sin, we can learn much about how He handled temptation. As believers, we now have Christ living in us and therefore can allow Christ to live in and through us when we experience temptation. As you study the strategic work of our enemy, it is important to learn when, where and how you are personally most vulnerable for attack. Also, it will help to know what to do when you experience temptation and opposition. Speaking God’s Living and Active Word is a cure for all that comes your way. May this week’s message be a strong encouragement to you. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we studied the Ten Commands and the uniqueness of God’s holiness in relationship to that of sinful man. We learned that the law is good and useful for us in our lives if we understand the purpose of the law. God uses the law to define His holiness, our sinfulness and a need for forgiveness. In the Old Testament the sacrificial system was established so that blood could be shed to cover sin. However, in the New Testament, Jesus Christ comes as Lord and Savior to die on the cross and shed his blood so that once and for all our sins can be completely wiped away. We are instructed to celebrate the law and honor the law but in Christ we find the end of the law for those who believe. Jesus Christ fulfilled the law and is now living in the hearts of those who believe. This means I am not trying to adhere to the rigorous demands of the law, but rather trusting Jesus Christ to live out His purposes of the law in and through me. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we discussed the holiness of God and why it is so important that we know His character if we are going to approach Him. In Exodus 19 we see the nation of Israel being introduced to the God who performed all the amazing works and wonders to deliver them from the hand of the Egyptians. Here at Mt. Sinai, Moses is summoned to the top of the mountain to receive instructions for how this meeting is to take place. He returns and tells them how to prepare themselves for meeting the God of the universe. They are told to consecrate themselves for three days so that they will be ready to meet with God. They are also told to keep their distance when they approach Him. If they or anyone else or an animal crosses the boundary that has been established, they will be put to death. God arrives as fire on the mountain, and they experience an earthquake all of Israel is terrified! God is so holy that Israel needs to recognize He is unlike anyone or anything they have ever known. As Moses warns the people it is a reminder that we must warn people about the holiness of God. Without understanding God’s holiness, we miss out on the fullness of the Gospel. May this week’s message challenge and encourage you in your walk with Jesus Christ. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we discussed how we can strengthen our relationship with Jesus Christ and how we can become a leader of leaders. Once a person is saved there is a strong desire to serve the Lord, but often we don’t feel like we are doing a good enough job. Books, leadership conferences, podcasts attempt to help us gain the confidence we need but often leave us feeling inept and believing that we are just not ready to make disciples. The enemy works overtime to show us how we are not able to be used by God to the full, which leads to discouragement. Thankfully, God’s Word provides insight in how we can best serve the Lord and how it is possible for every single believer to have influence in a mighty way. May this week’s message encourage and bless you as you take steps with the Lord to invest in others. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we studied the beginning of Israel’s journey with God through the wilderness. Following an amazing spiritual victory on the banks of the Red Sea, Israel celebrated with praise to the Lord lead by the men. However, it only took three days until Israel was frustrated again with the fact that they were thirsty and there was nothing to drink. They grumbled against Moses for being a poor leader and yet God graciously provided for them anyways. God is so merciful that He is always providing, however He was teaching Israel what they needed to do in order to experience His ongoing blessings. In the section of Scripture God was helping them understand what His requirements were for His children to continue to experience His best. If we want to experience God’s gracious provision in our lives, He has given us the instruction necessary for us to obey. May this week’s message speak clearly to you as you continue to seek the Lord. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we discussed how we can trust God in our trials. Jesus told us that in this world we would have tribulation. It’s a promise that when we walk with the Lord there are going to be challenges that we did not expect. How we respond to these challenges will make a huge difference in our walk with the Lord and the impact we will have on other people. In Exodus 14 we learn of five musts for trusting God in our trials. What was true a few millennia ago is still true today: we have a tendency to desire to respond in our flesh rather than responding in faith. We also have a proclivity to forget that God is still at work and using our trials that He has authored for our glory. Through our trials we have some of the greatest potential to see God show up and show out! So, when trials come, follow these truths and expect to see God move mightily. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we discussed the need to pass the spiritual baton to the next generation. Our salvation is very important to the Lord, but He wants to use us to build up our children and their children so that they can go further than we ever dreamed. God created the family and wants parents to model and champion His values so that the next generation will live for Christ. Even those who have no children are to entrust the truths of God to the next generation. With young people leaving the church at an alarming rate, what can we do to ensure that that the kingdom of God advances in this next generation? When we turn to Exodus 13, we learn some very significant truths to share and how we are to live so that the spiritual baton is passed effectively. May this week’s message encourage you to grow in Christ. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we discussed how we can truly be set free in Christ and no longer remain a slave to our sin. In the book of Exodus, God sent the first 9 plagues to punish Egypt for their disobedience to Him. After the Pharoah and Egypt refused to repent God sent the tenth plague which was the death of the first-born in every home. In order to protect Israel God prescribed the blood of a lamb to be applied on the doorposts of every home. This blood would cause the angel of death to “pass over” that home and spare the life of the first-born. Not only did God use this plague to show His power, but it was also the final plague that caused Pharoah and Egypt to beg the nation of Israel to leave. In this text we see God’s power and protection of Israel as well as His strong hand to deliver. This story not only reminds us of the necessity of the body and blood of Christ, but also His desire to deliver us completely from our sin. May this week’s message and these questions help you to grow in taking steps of faith towards true freedom in Christ. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we discussed how long-term obedience in the same direction transforms our lives. In chapter 11 of the book of Exodus we read about a different Moses than when he was called by God. He went from a wishy-washy, nominal follower of God to becoming a passionate, bold representative of the Lord. This was not an accident because when a man or a woman decides to give Jesus Christ their all, He begins to change them over time. He is willing to take anyone who is willing and transform their lives with His power. This section of Scripture, which is often glossed over when reading Exodus, is replete with the details of how God’s transformative power is at work. May this week’s message touch your heart and grow you into deeper obedience with the Lord. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we discussed the courage it takes to respond to the Gospel and the courage it takes to share it with others. Throughout the Old and New Testament God calls His people to not only live the Gospel but to share it. Jesus Christ is Lord and wants us to bow our knee to Him in submission and serve Him only. This study of Exodus shows us how we can share with the unrepentant and how we can make sure that we courageously respond to the Gospel ourselves rather than some form of religion. Jesus Christ is the Way the Truth and the Life and we need to lift Him high so that He will draw all men to himself. May this week’s message be a catalyst for you to respond to the Gospel and to share the Gospel with others. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub

This week we addressed two consistent themes that pervade the Scriptures: The glory of God and the advancement of His kingdom. God wants to make Himself known throughout the whole world and chooses to use His servants to advance kingdom. Even as we pray The Lord’s Prayer, we initially discuss the holiness and glory of God followed by asking for His kingdom to come. In the book of Exodus, we see how God’s chosen servant was called to demonstrate God’s glory to Pharoah and for His rule and reign to take place in Egypt. As Moses goes to Pharoah there is more than a discussion, there is a proclamation that God wants to be made known in the way He chooses. Pharoah’s rejection of the true God and lack of repentance results in compounding plagues that ultimately show God’s glory and the fact that His plan will indeed succeed. May this week’s message be an encouragement to how God uses you to advance His kingdom and demonstrate His glory to a world that is desperate for Him. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub

There is nothing quite so painful and disappointing as unmet expectations. Some of life’s greatest challenges arise in areas of our lives when we are expecting something that does not materialize. This can happen on a micro-scale when somebody does not show up on time for a meeting or on a macro-scale when we are overlooked for a position that is handed to someone less qualified. Throughout our lives we experience unmet expectations and therefore we work to shield our lives from this by aligning our lives with people we trust. One of the blessings of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is that He is completely trustworthy, and we can rely on him one hundred percent of the time. However, we find through experience that following Jesus can be disappointing at times. This week we unpacked five surprising expectations that will help us as we journey with Christ. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub

This week we discussed how when God sees a problem and has a solution, he goes looking for that man in order to make him a worshipper. Often when we consider the notion of worship our thoughts wander to liturgy and style rather than to the person of Jesus Christ. Worship is when a person gives their full allegiance in all areas of their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ. God wants us to seek Him first and yet so often we want to simply have God in the background just to help if we encounter problems in our journey. God wants to be our God. God wants us to know and fear Him and yet also recognize His mercy and grace that overflows abundantly! In this study of Exodus 3 we seek how God reveals Himself to Moses and how God wants to use his life. God has been active in Moses’ life from the time He was born but now is growing deeper in His understanding of the Lord. Our patient God wants us to know Him as the Sovereign Creator who is all powerful and Transcendent, loving God who cares for every area of our lives! May this week’s message challenge you to become a greater worshipper of the Lord Jesus Christ! Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we discussed God’s sovereign orchestration for every single person’s life. We learned in the Word of God that every human being is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139) and that we are God’s masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10). He has set the times and locations for us to live (Acts 17) and desires to use our lives for His glory. As believers in Christ, we often ask the question, “What is God’s plan for my life?” or concern ourselves with the belief that we are not living out our destiny. In Exodus 2, we learn that God is always in control and by relying completely on Him and seeking Him first, He will certainly use us for His glory. As you listen to the message, consider how special you are to the Lord and how He is using you even when you don’t realize it. May the Lord give you great hope and remind you of His incredible love for you as you seek Him. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Difficulties occur all the time in the Christian life because we live in a sinful and broken world that is hostile to the Lord. When these trying circumstances occur, we sometimes understand that this is a normal part of the Christian life. The challenges mount when these situations escalate and no matter how hard we pray, worship or read our Bibles our situation goes from bad to worse. During seasons like this we can often question God’s goodness or if he even cares for us. Learning to trust the Lord in difficulties is one of the ways that God grows our character and helps build spiritual muscles in God’s plan for our lives. Learning what we can specifically trust God for can truly help us as God orchestrates our circumstances. This week we highlighted four areas where a believer can trust in God. Use these to help you mature in your faith. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
So often when we hear the word discipline we immediately think of punishment instead of understanding all the nuances of the word. When we talk about the discipline of God we are talking about His comprehensive standards that He works tirelessly for us to accomplish. He teaches, coaches, trains, admonishes, encourages, and scourges those who are his children. While God accepts us just as we are, His purpose in discipline is a blessing so that we don’t remain there. God’s desire for us involves growing in righteousness and reflecting the holiness of God. This section of Scriptures causes us to consider the purpose of God’s discipline so that we will be thankful for His hand in our lives. May this message encourage you about the grace of discipline. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we addressed the need to be faithful finishers for the Lord Jesus Christ. Right after the author spends an entire chapter discussing those who died in faith he tells us the reason he was addressing them. The reason is so that we know we have a great cloud of witnesses who have gone before us and if they can finish faithfully, then so can we. In the church today we need more men and women who live lives of faith that are examples of the Lord Jesus Christ. Christ desires to live his life through each and every one of us and this passage teaches us how to persevere in faith all the way until we meet Jesus. May this message and these questions help you understand how you can be strong to the finish. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we highlighted Hebrews 11:7-22 and discussed the challenges to faith. Many times, when we are encouraged to grow in our faith our motivation wanes due to challenges that appear. Because the Christian life is not automatic it is imperative to be aware of the challenges that will occur once we begin to take steps of faith. Knowing the challenges on our path help us to navigate properly with the Lord, which also keep us from being surprised. The enemy of your soul hates faithfulness and so he uses these challenges to keep us from experiencing God’s best. May this teaching open your eyes to the some of the challenges that you will face so that you can be an overcomer. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Hebrews 11 helps us to comprehend the significance of faith in the life of a believer. Understanding and applying faith in our life pleases God and unleashes His favor upon us. The challenge with faith is the ability to believe it before we see it. In our world of uncertainty, we are often taught to see things before we believe them. God wants us to trust Him FIRST and then we will see the result of our faith. This takes spiritual discernment and practice so that we can grow in this discipline. Faith is not only an essential ingredient in the life of a believer but is the key to growth. Studying this passage will unlock opportunities for you to grow as a believer. This message challenges believers to believe their blessings. In the church, we often encourage people to count their blessings, perhaps even enjoy their blessings, but it’s rare when Christians truly believe their blessings and live differently as a result. Through Christ’s death, burial and resurrection we have been offered a new life. While it’s imperative to talk about the necessity of the cross it’s just as imperative to talk about our new life in Christ. We have the hope of Christ in us and with that hope, we have so many blessings that God wants us to have and enjoy. A thorough understanding of Hebrews 10:1-25 will instill confidence, freedom, joy and hope in the life of a believer. Take the time to ponder these truths from God’s Word and live the Christ-centered life God intended for you. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub

Today, many people in the church want to talk about all the benefits of Christ but refuse to talk about the necessity of His shed blood. Throughout Hebrews 9, we hear about need and blessings that result from Jesus Christ shedding His blood on Calvary. If Jesus Christ had not shed His blood on the cross, we would not be able to have our sins cleansed, would not have access to God, and would not have a secure inheritance. However, Jesus Christ did indeed die for our sins and rose from the dead so that through repentance and faith, we can have life in His name and look forward to being in His presence for all eternity. Throughout this message, we discussed four truths about the blood of Christ that help us grow in our intimacy with God. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This message examines Hebrews chapter 8 and the superior ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ as our Great High Priest. Our society balks at the fact that Jesus Christ is the only way to God and even young, immature Christians can often doubt the validity of Christ’s exclusivity. However, Hebrews chapter 8 highlights the superior ministry of the priesthood of Jesus Christ and demonstrates why He and He alone provides for everything we need. When Jesus inaugurated the New Covenant, everything changed. Jesus Christ fulfilled the law and therefore the types and shadows of the Old Testament are no longer necessary for relating to God. Because in our sinful hearts we often prefer religion to reality, God makes it clear that Jesus Christ is everything we need. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This message examines not only how Christ’s priesthood was superior but how it has prevailed. Because Jesus Christ is from the order of Melchizadek, he is the only One who qualifies as the eternal high priest. God in His Word promised that Jesus Christ would be the great prevailing High Priest and that He would be preferable. As we study the work of Christ’s priesthood we learn about His better covenant, His permeance and the fact that he prays for us. His perfect nature with His personal attention makes Christ the Greatest High Priest of all time. Knowing that God hears us and intercedes for us gives us a great confidence and hope in Him. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This message discusses Christ’s superior priesthood. Converted Jews in the first century had become concerned because they no longer had a priest. Since becoming Christians, they were no longer welcomed back into their Jewish faith and therefore didn’t know where to get the spiritual help they needed. The author of Hebrews answers this question using the Hebrew Scriptures to demonstrate that there has always been a priesthood of a higher order that provides everything they would ever need. By studying the order of priesthood of Melchizedek we learned about Christ and His superior priesthood, and how he is the only priest they will ever need moving forward. Understanding the Lord Jesus Christ as your Great High Priest will provide great comfort for every believer. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Often times we get so caught up in moving forward and getting to the next thing, that we don't stop to thank God for all the ways He blesses us. As we celebrate the first Sunday in our Englewood North building, we take time to pause and praise Him for His mighty work and provision in this season and over the life of BRAVE Church. Jesus came to seek and save those who are lost. This Easter, we look at the two sons in the story of the Prodigal Son and how the heart of the father is of love no matter what - just like the heart of our Heavenly Father. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub

After warning about the dangers of those who refused to make Jesus Christ their personal Lord and Savior, the author of Hebrews transitions to encouraging the saved. He calls many of His listeners Beloved and tells them they possess many things that accompany salvation. This text in Hebrews encourages the believer by showing them not only what accompanies salvation, but also how to strengthen their hope in their own personal salvation. Here we learn from God not only what accompanies salvation, but also where to place our focus so that our hope in Christ will grow. May this message provide hope for each and every believer that listens. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This message discusses another warning passage that demonstrates some who have experienced Jesus Christ have never made Him the Lord of their lives. It is a warning to anyone who falsely thinks that by simply having a positive encounter or experience that they are truly saved. Salvation is a gift from God that is appropriated through repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior. This sobering text warns the false professor that to get that close to the faith and then commit apostasy makes it impossible to ever return to Christ. When properly understood this text encourages the believer and invites the false professor to repentance. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
God uses unlikely fighters to face unbeatable giants so he can accomplish an unimaginable victory! Speaker: Greg Stier
The author of Hebrews continues to demonstrate that Jesus Christ is the greatest. In this message, we learn that Jesus Christ is the greatest high priest, which begs three questions for us to ask and examine. First, what is a high priest? Next, why is Jesus Christ the great high priest? Finally, what is the benefit of Jesus Christ being our great high priest? Asking and answering these questions will help us understand how fortunate we are to have Jesus Christ mediate on our behalf. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub

Millennials sometimes use the word FOMO to describe the Fear of Missing Out. This message discusses the healthy fear of missing out on the truth of the Gospel. One of the greatest questions we can ask and answer is, “Am I really saved?” This is a question that even churchgoers must ask. You see, we only have the time while we are still alive to make a decision for Jesus Christ to be the Lord of our lives. The author of Hebrews goes to great lengths to help his readers and listeners understand the importance of settling the issue of salvation. This resolve can bring rest now and rest in the future with Christ. The challenge is that many people today either falsely believe they are Christians or simply do not see the gravity of not believing in the Lord Jesus Christ. In this chapter of Hebrews, we see the imperative to turn from sin and turn to Christ. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
In this message, we see that the single greatest way to grow in your relationship with Christ is to Obey Today. To experience God’s favor and blessing requires that you listen to His voice and honor him through taking the next step of faith He requires. Sometimes we get into a rut in our faith because we are hearing the Word of God without putting it into practice. The greatest way to grow in wisdom, knowledge and stature is to hear His voice and obey what He says. When we hear the word “obedience” we can often think about someone being domineering over us that doesn’t care for us. But God designed us and through obedience, we experience the greatest joy and God receives the greatest glory. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub

In this message, we discuss the incarnation of Jesus Christ and the humility He endured on our behalf. Jesus Christ, as the second person of the Trinity, has always existed and yet just over 2000 years ago He put on flesh and became a man. In humility, Jesus Christ came to earth, fulfilled the law, died on the cross and rose from the dead so that we who have sinned and are deserving death may be completely forgiven and may experience the Life of Christ. While many Christians understand the concept of the incarnation many have not spent the time growing in an understanding of the humility of what Christ endured for us. The author of Hebrews wants us to understand that Jesus Christ was willing to be humiliated so that we could be in a right relationship with God. As you listen to this message and engage with the questions below may God give you a greater awareness of all of His work to demonstrate His love for you. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
“May I have your attention, please?” This question may perk our interest but often times we are simply reminded of a truth we already understand. Therefore, at times when we are warned we simply do not pay attention to the warning. This can be very true for us in our relationship with God. Sometimes when we read or hear warning passages read, we think this is a passage for someone else because “I know that I am already saved.” However, the purpose of warning passages instructs the believer and admonishes the unbeliever to be sincere about their relationship with Jesus Christ. At times, warning passages can be challenging but they are essential for us to continue in a right relationship with God. As you listen to the message this week, open your heart and allow God to do some “spiritual surgery” on you so that you can experience a greater measure of His grace. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Angels are spiritual beings created by God for the purpose of serving and worshipping Him. They were used of God to bring the law to the Jews and are seen throughout Scripture as powerful messengers and worshippers of God. The author of Hebrews through the wisdom of the Holy Spirit wants us to know that Jesus Christ is greater than the angels because of what He possesses. Throughout this message we discussed the superiority of Jesus Christ and why this is important for the believer. As you listen to the message and answer the following questions may your heart be stirred to the importance of understand that Jesus Christ is superior to angels. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
In the first three verses of Hebrews seven attributes of our Lord and Savior are listed. Each of these attributes are extremely powerful and exclusive. Just a casual reading of the book of Hebrews causes the reader to pause and understand that Jesus Christ is the premier prophet, priest and king. When understood properly the book continues to ask the reader, “How are you going to respond to the greatness of Jesus Christ?” Throughout our study we are going to see the greatness of Jesus Christ on display and will then be forced to respond to His greatness. This sermon series is going to be a great journey and if you seek the Lord and open your heart you will be in a deeper and more mature place with the Lord when this study is complete. So, let’s get started and begin to understand the greatness of our God. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we discussed the three critical confessions that God desires every person to make. Understanding and living these confessions changes a believer by faith. You see, a confession is made by faith through agreement with the Word of God. When your lips confess what the inerrant Word of God reveals your life begins to change by faith. These three clear confessions will help the believer towards wholeness and help them grow in their intimacy with Christ. In addition to the teaching this week Pastor Jeff shared the vision of where BRAVE Church is heading and some of the marvelous ways God is at work among us. May we continue to thank God for His goodness and kindness towards all of us. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
The primary ministry of the Holy Spirit is to magnify the resurrected Christ. When Jesus Christ was on the earth the Holy Spirit descending upon Him at His baptism and remained upon Him for ministry. After Jesus rose from the dead and ascended into heaven the Holy Spirit was dispensed upon His disciples so that their personal ministry would glorify the resurrected Christ. What the Spirit accomplished through Jesus Christ He still desires to accomplish through His church today. Using selected Scriptures God showed us much about the ministry of the Holy Spirit and His desire to work in and through our lives. May you hunger and desire more of the Spirit’s work. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
While it is clear from the Scriptures that we are given the person of the Holy Spirit to indwell us when we believe, the Scriptures also make clear the need for us to continue to be filled with Him. This means that we received ALL of the Holy Spirit when we believed, but the Holy Spirit may not still have all of us. Today we were asked to pray daily for the filling of the Holy Spirit so that we can be more effective in our mission. Considering the purpose of Spirit’s is essential to help you experience the fullness of Jesus Christ. May your pursuit of the Lord allow the Holy Spirit to fill you afresh this week. Speaker: Cal Rychener
God’s design for every believer is to be transformed and conformed to the image of Christ. Using 2 Corinthians 5:14-21 as a foundation we discussed four truths for experiencing total transformation. Allowing God’s Word to shape you will help you grow into all that God has designed for you. God’s love for you is so great that He will accept you right where you are, but not allow you stay there. Understanding God’s love for you and His purpose for you is paramount to experiencing God transforming power. Understanding the truth of God’s Word will help you in your growth with Christ and help you become a better ambassador for Him. May His grace about to you as you reflect on this week’s message. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Once we are saved that we are disciples of Christ who are called to grow into His likeness. The reality is that Jesus wants YOU! God the Father demonstrated His love to the world by sending His only begotten so that whoever believed would not perish but have Eternal Life. Jesus Christ paid the penalty for all the sins of humanity on the cross for everyone who believes. This free gift is received by grace through faith. However, once you become a believer, Jesus Christ demands full allegiance to Him and His mission on planet earth. This week we discussed four actions that Jesus wants every one of His followers to take. Although the call can be demanding, it also provides the greatest joy and peace for those who follow Him. May the Holy Spirit guide and convict you so that you may become all that God has purposed for you to become. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub

Before we are saved we are in a spiritual battle with the devil but have yet to realize that fact. Once we are saved, we learn that the devil, the world and our sinful selves attempt to limit us from God’s best. The Scriptures teach that when we are on mission for Him that we are the most satisfied and He is the most glorified. We live in a world that is hostile to Jesus Christ, churches that are complacent and apathetic, and countless souls that need to hear and see a demonstration of the Spirit of God in power. As Paul concludes His letter to Timothy, he provides four commands that are essential to allow the church to bring the greatest glory to the Lord. As you listen to the message and read the study questions, consider what application the Lord wants you to make from His Word today. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Just as there are skill sets to grow in relationships, finances, marriage, and parenting, God has provided a means for us to grow in godliness. A growing devotion and reverence for Christ is not automatic and requires a rejection of certain errors so that we can move forward. While these challenges from God’s Word are often difficult to hear, they are necessary for understanding how God works to grow us. However, the key is not simply knowing what to do but being willing to apply God’s truth to our lives. Consider what application God wants you to make from this week’s message. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
God loves the church and has appointed leadership in His Church so that the kingdom of God can be advanced on the planet. God loves those who lead for Him and He desires His Church to love and honor those leaders as well. As we learn about the different types of leaders in the church, it is also important to understand how to respond to leadership in a way that honors God. Following God's Word on these matters is essential for healthy and strong leadership in the church, and will allow the Holy Spirit to pour out blessing on the church. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
When a person is born again they are placed into the Body of Christ. Since every believer now shares the same Heavenly Father we are all brothers and sisters in Christ. In other words, Christians are now a spiritual family. Therefore, God gives clear instruction for his children to relate to one another in His Church. These instructions not only teach us how to have a great love for one another but also provide a great witness to the world. Knowing how to treat older and younger men as well as older and younger women is paramount to our walk with Jesus Christ. Also taking care of widows, which demonstrates the very heart of God, should also be on the forefront of our minds. After you listen to this week’s sermon, engage in the following questions in order to help you grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Learning about a prophet can help one understand if he is called to be a prophet and also help those listening to see if they are truly hearing God. In a world where we have experienced lies, it is imperative to discern if we are indeed listening to the truth. Understanding the five marks of a prophet helps us in our ability to hear, believe, grow, trust and hope in the Gospel. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
In this message Pastor Jeff discusses how we as believers in Christ can have consistently good service to our Lord and to other people. Four lessons emerged from the text that are important for every believer to understand for their personal growth. If we will listen to God’s Word and apply His truth into our lives we can live as good servants of the Lord Jesus Christ. Some of these lessons are difficult to hear and some are difficult to implement but with the help of the Holy Spirit these truths are foundational for continued maturity in Christ. Once you have listened to this week’s message, please consider your own life as a servant of Christ and carefully consider how Jesus is guiding you. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
“How can I inherit eternal life?” Human beings were created differently than anything else in God’s creation. We were created in His image, which is why asking the question about life after death is essential to what it means to be human. The truth is that God wants you to know how to have a relationship with Him and wants you to be in relationship with Him. My encouragement to you is to listen to the message this week and respond to the good news that Jesus Christ wants a relationship with you. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Character and conduct are the bedrock for solid Christian service. Sometimes, service can be considered to be a work for someone else so that we can receive a benefit from them. At other times we do indeed serve but miss out on the blessings of serving because we are only serving in order to be noticed. Pride can easily creep into our minds if we do not allow the Spirit of God to shape us. The truth, however, is that we have been created by Jesus Christ for service and we are most truly alive when we are serving Him. As you listen to this week’s message and engage these questions, consider how the Lord may lead you to be of your greatest service to Him. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
It is essential to understand that God created both men and women with equal value but has distinct roles for each gender within His kingdom. God has designed the heart of a man to be a protector and a provider and to live with courage and integrity. As the Holy Spirit lays out the requirements for an overseer, it is imperative that every man understand that these are the character qualities He wants all men to have. Even if a man does not serve in the role of an overseer, he certainly will want to hold to these standards in his own life and ministry. May the Holy Spirit of God use His Word to conform the men at BRAVE Church into His image. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Since God has established His church to reflect the values of the kingdom on planet earth it would benefit us to honor His Word in every way. As we study gender we understand that God is creator of human beings and the designer of male and female as the only two genders. Men and women are completely different but of equal value in the sight of the Lord. Understanding and applying God’s Word will help us in our cultural sea of uncertainty and provide love and direction for God’s people in the coming days. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Praying for the lost to hear and experience a witness of the Gospel is of primary importance in the local church. Sometimes as believers we set up fences between ourselves and believers and instead of praying for them to hear the Gospel we fight them on the ground of principles. Paul instructs Timothy that the primary witness in a church should be that all of God’s people are praying for everybody. This means that people in our culture that are far from God, should be regularly lifted up in prayer believing that if God changed their heart, the world would be a different place. May we be encouraged this week to pray for the lost in our sphere of influence. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Although we only looked at three verses they provided insight into how we can continue forward in our relationship with the Lord. As the Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy we hear His heart for being bold and resolute in His ministry for Christ even though it will be opposed. God not only saved you to bring you to heaven but so that you could be His enlisted soldier for the Gospel. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
While many people hold onto politics, money, prestige and influence the Word of God instructs us to trust Jesus Christ and His gospel. The gospel is not simply a set of beliefs to get a person into heaven. The gospel is a profound mystery of Christ in us, the hope of glory. When a person trusts the good news of the gospel, Jesus Christ completely forgives them and comes to dwell inside of them through the Holy Spirit. While this relationship begins here on the earth, it continues throughout eternity. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
In the same way it’s important for us to check God’s Word so that we understand all that God intends for His church rather than relying simply on our opinions and preferences. A Biblical understanding of the church is foundational for us because Jesus Christ established the church for His disciples to experience the kingdom of God on the earth. As His ambassadors, the gathered church is His Kingdom Embassy on earthly soil for God to accomplish everything He desires in and through His people through the power of the Holy Spirit. As we began this series we talked about three things every believer must have to be a long-term contributor to Christ’s church. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we launched our ministry calendar and spent time considering where the Lord is leading BRAVE Church this year. Using Hebrews 11:1&6 as our main text, we discussed ways that we should take the next step of faith as a church and as individuals. Not only did we talk about depending upon the Lord, but also discussed that without faith it is impossible to please God. Therefore, if we want to please God we must take steps of faith. Four areas of growth were highlighted as well as 7 areas to consider at BRAVE Church this year. Let’s continue to trust the Lord for a great year! Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Paul’s doxologies in Ephesians 3:20-21 teach us about the character of our great God. When we truly understand our God, we learn that He is genuinely awesome! It’s imperative for us as believers to truly understand our God in order to hunger in our pursuit of Him. The more that we learn from the revelation of God’s Word the more we will grow to love and trust our God. As you hear and study this week’s message may your heart hunger and thirst for a deeper relationship with our God! Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
While we were certainly not saved “by” good works we were certainly saved “for” good works. Unfortunately, in our current Christian culture this challenging truth often gets neglected. Far too often fruitless religious activity has replaced being fully engaged in the mission of Jesus Christ. Worse yet, is the other extreme where Christian “couch potatoes” sit around and discuss theology without doing anything at all. The desire of our Lord Jesus Christ is that all people would serve Him and serve Him to the full. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
In one short verse of Galatians 2:20 we learn the secret to Paul living a victorious Christian life. In writing to the Galatians, he shared how the grace of God is what grows us and sanctifies rather than outward behaviors. This means that the Christian life is not about what I begin to do or stop doing that pleases God, rather it involves Christ being able to live His very life in and through me. This amazing truth helps us to root our identity in Jesus Christ and believe that we are truly everything that God says about us because we belong to Him. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
As the world changes and difficulties arise, looking to true stories in the Bible like the Exodus of the Israelites from captivity and the parting of the Red Sea are so important. As we walk through Exodus 14, we will find it teaching us how to wait on God, navigate life’s struggles using Scripture and it will help us to find ourselves walking in God’s will for our life. Speaker: Justin Hart
The majority of Christians, despite knowing Jesus miss out on experiencing the fullness of life and joy that He offers us. Jesus leads his disciples through a vineyard to offer them a teaching moment about what a life filled with joy looks like. It is found not through striving or searching in the world but through abiding and resting in the true vine. Speaker: Josh Mackey
The culmination of this series involved five reasons to get ready for what is coming. These five reasons, coupled with five exhortations, have been embedded in the book of Revelation and seen throughout the entirety of the Scriptures. Hearing the proclamation of God’s Word expounding the truth of Revelation 22 will prepare the believer for the upcoming and expected blessings, but also convict the unrighteous of their need to repent and believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ. May this message set your heart aflame for the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords and may you eagerly await all that the Lord Jesus Christ has in store for us. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This exciting text whets the appetite in the life of the believer for what God has planned in the future. Some may consider that this text is referencing the eternal state; however, it worthy of considering that this text is discussing the Millennium. Either way, the truth of the text does not change and the expectations for the believer remain the same. As you spend time reading and pondering Revelation 21 may these five truths encourage your soul. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we discussed four events from Revelation that will certainly take place, even though we have been waiting for a long time. Three of the four of these events thrill our heart, while one of them causes us to soberly pause and consider the importance of the Gospel. All of the events highlight the glory of God and His eternal power as the Sovereign of the universe. Considering the truths of Revelation 20 are imperative for clear understanding of what will take place. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week our guest speaker, Pastor Luis Peralta from Harvest CDMX in Mexico City, earnestly urged BRAVE Church to live out the “A” in BRAVE! He challenged us to be authentic in acknowledging the sin in our lives. This week, we looked at Psalm 51, David’s example of a fully surrendered heart. This is where true freedom lies. Speaker: Luis Peralta
From the moment you stepped foot into the Kingdom of God, you began training for reigning and you became a target of the enemy. But not to worry, because the One who leads you beside quiet waters is also the One who supplies everything you need in order to be victorious. A deeper look at Psalm 23:5 provides us with four realities that enable us to walk in victory and freedom. Cal Rychener is the founding Senior Pastor of Northwoods Community Church in Peoria, Illinois where he has served for nearly 40 years. In addition to his love for the local church, Cal has two other great passions - his wife Susan and their children and grandchildren, and the Green Bay Packers. Cal is also the author of two books, Living at a Higher Level of Faith and God Can. Speaker: Cal Rychener
Sometimes we consider Hallelujah a word that should only be said in a church service; however we learned that we can Praise the Lord at any time because He is always so worthy. As the scene unfolds for how Christ will quickly engage in the final battle of Armageddon it thrills our heart to see our Lord and King defeating his enemies; not to mention the fact that we will have a front row seat! This encouraging text from the book of Revelation should provide a clearer picture of Jesus Christ and who we truly worship. May the Lord give you insight as you continue to meditate on this passage Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Movies, media, magazines and ministries highlight all sorts of ways that events will occur; however, the Bible is the only reliable source. The sudden halt to the economy and commerce will be devastating for those who have built their lives upon the sand rather than on the Word of God. Hearing messages like this should encourage the believer to flee from a lifestyle of sin and live holy, righteous and upright lives that honor the Lord. May God be gracious to you as you continue to journey with Him. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we studied Revelation 17 and learned that there is definitely a finality to false religion in the world. Today, people choose to worship whatever or whoever they want in whatever fashion they deem best. However, the words of Jesus being the way the truth and the life are just as true today as they have ever been. It is important for us to understand what true faith looks like and the challenges of worshipping anyone other than the Lord Jesus Christ. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Bonus Content: Downloadable charts are available hereThis week we studied the final seven bowl judgments of God’s wrath on planet earth. When studying God’s wrath, we sometimes forget it is because of His awesome character that He is acting in the way He chooses. However, a closer look at the Scriptures reveals the incredible character of our God and why He is going to do the things that He chooses in the future. Understanding the nature of the character of our God will help us as we continue to take steps with Him. May God’s Grand Finale of judgment unveil more about the splendor of His character and the reason why He is worthy of your celebration and worship. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
It’s very important for you, as a believer in Christ, to be centered on God’s Word and His promises so that the enemy doesn’t cause you to live in fear. God allows and will continue to allow satan a rebellious spirit for a period of time. However, that time will be short-lived and God will have His way as He has promised from the very beginning. As saints of the Lord may we persevere in our faith and continue to seek God’s face. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Understanding their identity, practice and plan helps us as believers to know what to expect in our world as we move closer to the end. During the final three and half years of human history the antichrist will attempt to establish his authority as a political and military leader. The false prophet will be his minister of propaganda and facilitate his leadership. These times will call for perseverance and wisdom of the saints as they endure faithfully to the end. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Bonus Content: Download "Who I Am In Christ" hereIn sporting events and theater, we like to learn about the “cast of characters” and what is really going on behind the curtain. This week, we studied Revelation 12 and began to learn of some of the significant characters that will be in play during the end-times drama. Chapters 12-15 are parenthetical, and help us to better understand what will take place during the last three and a half years on our planet. The five characters we discussed prove important if we are to understand God and how he relates to us. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Our Heavenly Father loves us so much that He has given us everything we need pertaining to life and godliness (1 Peter 1:3), most importantly the Holy Spirit in us! So, though we have a spiritual enemy, God has given us the spiritual resources we need to walk increasingly in victory over daily sin and temptation. Our Father does not want us to be ambushed by our enemy, that’s why in His Word He exposes the schemes that Satan repeatedly tries to use against us (2 Corinthians 2:11, 1 Peter 5:8). Speaker: Jon Gaus
During seasons of challenge, trial and crisis, we need to make sure that we rely completely upon that which is certain. Choosing to place our hope and trust in Jesus Christ is essential, but as believers we need to know what else we can be rely on in any given situation. This week we studied Revelation 11 and learned about the two witnesses and the seventh trumpet. Studying this passage helped us to understand five certainties that will keep us sane in trying times. These five truths from God’s Word will always be true and bring great comfort to those who trust Him. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
John sees the angel descend and set his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land and then make an oath by the God who created the universe that this age was ready to come to an end. As this book has been progressing this hiatus in the text instructs us how to respond when circumstances become difficult. Listen to the message again, read your Bible and then spend some time considering the questions. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Revelation 9 contains sobering words about the severity of the first two woes. While the first four trumpet judgements focused on the ecology of the earth, the next three trumpets focus specifically on unrepentant people (the fifth, sixth and seventh trumpet are referred to as the three woes). As the fifth and sixth trumpets are blown we learn of God using a demonic hoard to punish unrepentant people on the earth. This unrelenting punishment during the Day of the Lord is difficult to read and even more challenging to engage since many of us picture the people we know who are presently lost and apart from Christ. However, a clear understanding of Revelation 9 helps us understand the holiness of God and the necessity of His judgment. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
As Revelation chapter 8 opens we hear about silence in heaven for about a half an hour because God’s wrath is finally going to be unleashed on planet earth. This sobering text shows us the severity of our sin and the truth that God’s holiness that cannot tolerate it. In the book of Genesis, we saw God destroy the world with a flood and in the book of Revelation we see a how God will ultimately purify the world from sin so that He may establish His reign. As you read Revelation 8, listen to the message and ponder the questions, may our God show you the importance of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
For over 150 years the evangelical church has mainly been taught a pre-tribulational rapture of the saints, which theorizes the church will be raptured and then the 70th week of Daniel will begin. Some have been taught that Jesus returns at the midpoint of the seven years and still others believe He will return at the end. This week we took the time to set a context for what the Scriptures said would happen. God desires for us to know what to expect in the last days and therefore has given us His Word to study. May the truth of this week’s message stir your hearts to love God more. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
What does it mean to be a "Spirit-filled spouse?" When moments of crisis come our way in relationships, how should we act? Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Bonus Content: Downloadable charts are available hereWhen the scroll is opened, prophetic events will begin to take place on the planet in an unprecedented manner. The opening of the scroll beings a major progression of challenges that begin to ensue at the beginning of the 70th Week of Daniel. These events in chapter 6 begin with the first seal of the antichrist and end with the sixth seal that portends (or foreshadows) the wrath of God that is coming upon an unbelieving world. God is preparing His saints for what is coming so that we will endure to the end. May we know the Lord and be ready for His return. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we studied Revelation 5 and learned four characteristics or qualities of Jesus Christ that made Him the only One worthy to open the scroll. In the midst of the beauty and majesty of the throne, Jesus Christ is seen looking like a lamb standing as if slain. This amazing picture of our Lord demonstrates His love for us in purchasing us through His death on the cross. We also see the four living creatures and the 24 elders continuing to worship Him because He has purchased people from every tribe tongue and nation. All creation will ultimately understand that they were designed to give God our highest and best praise. As we live our lives we are encouraged to be prepared to worship Christ our King. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This chapter is simply a preview of what is to come in our worship. Many times, we become cavalier in our worship and need to be reminded of its importance in our daily lives as we prepare to meet the Lord. A study in Revelation 4 causes us to be overwhelmed by God and His character as we prepare to meet Him. Regardless of how we view God, our view certainly is not big enough. As you listen to this week’s message, meditate on God’s Word and review the questions, may God grant you a greater desire to worship Him. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
The uniqueness to this letter was that it was the only church where no strengths were mentioned. This lukewarm body of believers had made the Lord nauseous because of their lethargy and complacency. They didn’t care that Jesus Christ was prominent in their church even though he was standing outside the church knocking on the door. While this church received no commendation, Jesus was still trying to come in so that He could experience a relationship with this church. In our culture today, this message is needed as we continue in our journey with Christ. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
The church in Sardis had a reputation for being alive but God said it was a dead church. The church in Philadelphia, on the other hand, had little power but God declared it faithful and strong in the Lord. Studying these churches in the book of Revelation provides insight for how God is leading His church and what He values. Not only should we be serving in a life-giving church, but we should be life-giving Christians who are growing and maturing in the Lord. As you listen to this week’s message and ponder the questions, allow the Spirit of God to help you understand what you need to learn. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we studied the churches of Pergamum and Thyatira in chapter 2 of the book of Revelation. Both of these churches were strong in some areas but ultimately suffered in a similar fashion due to false teaching from within. In Pergamum, they were rebuked for some who held to the teaching of Balaam and others who held to the teaching of the Nicolaitans. In Thyatira they tolerated the teaching of Jezebel, which was also leading God’s people astray. God hates false teaching because it leads people away from God and often times into sexual immorality and idolatry. This study should not only help us take note of BRAVE Church as a whole, but should also encourage a time of self-reflection. The only way out of immorality and idolatry is repentance. May this study be an opportunity to repent and get right with the Lord. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
After a quick overview of the seven churches that we will be addressing we spent some time discussing the structure in each of the letters. These six items can prove helpful in our interpretation of the Scriptures. We began our study by looking at the first two churches. First, we studied the church in Ephesus. Ephesus was a strong church who had become performance-driven rather than living in their identity. These factors caused this church to lose its primary ministry to love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ. Next, we studied the church in Smyrna and learned that this church was encouraged to persevere in trials, imprisonment and even death. This church reminded us that we should not fear tribulation or death in the work of Christ. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Many people still have a picture of Jesus that depicts Him as meek and mild and soft. As we discussed the vision of Jesus Christ spelled out in Revelation 1:9-20 we were alerted to the fact that Jesus is the all-powerful king of kings and lord of lords. Having a true picture of Jesus Christ readies us for His coming and prepares our heart to love Him even more. May God’s Word grow you in your pursuit of Christ! Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Why Teach Revelation? With so many people in the body of Christ who have become jaded, confused, frustrated and divisive over the content of the book, why should it be studied? To answer this question, we read and unpacked the first 8 verses of this great book and discovered 5 reasons why this book was worth studying. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
From the creation of the world to the cradle which held our LORD, God has had a purpose and a plan. The more we know and understand about the Word of God the more we understand about our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ. In discussing the birth of Christ, we learned four qualities of being a disciple that prove helpful. As you spend time listening to the message and reading the questions, may the Spirit of God guide you into all truth. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Even though we often do not understand all that God is doing we certainly know that He had a plan from the very beginning. In Genesis we see that God had a plan from Noah’s son, Shem, to bring about Abram who would become the Father of the nation of Israel. God chose Abram and Sarai, even though they were unlikely choices. He made a covenant with Abram that He would bless Him and make his name great. God has delivered on His promise and has not left Himself without a witness in every nation in the world. God desires all people to come into a relationship with himself. We simply need to respond through our faith in Him. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
God’s desire for His image-bearers was to multiply on the earth so that His glory could be seen in all of His world. Unfortunately, sin in the heart of man created a desire for them to stay in one place to build a city, worship who and what they wanted and to expand their own greatness. Even though the people rebelled against God, He demonstrated His miraculous grace. Rather than punishing His people again He chose to confuse their languages so that they were forced to scatter out across the globe. God’s confusion of language allowed for the development of cultures, ethnicities and people groups. These are all wonderful things when we understand that we are all of value to God. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
After 377 days on the ark, Noah and the other seven survivors were now responsible for moving forward. Therefore, God provided instruction for how they were to live and what they were to prioritize. In Genesis 9 we see the character of God, the sinfulness of man and how God expects his image-bearers to live. Understanding the character of God then helps us understand how to live now the way he would desire. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Genesis 7 and 8 tell of God’s complete destruction of the world through a global flood. Prior to Noah there was never a global flood and after Noah God promised there would never be another global flood again. God is true to His Word and while there have been local floods there has never been another global flood. God promised that He would give 120 years for man to repent and yet only Noah and his family were saved through the ark. The entire world lived completely apart from God and perished in the flood. The tragedy of the story is that many people today are still living apart from God not realizing that their sin will bring about their own destruction. May we learn from this story and repent and turn to Christ now! Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Sometimes we have difficulty understanding the full character of God because we have only heard of an aspect of His nature rather than the entire story. Some Christians falsely believe that God’s love means that you can do whatever you want and there is no consequence. Others falsely teach that just one sin will land you hell and every day you must stand on alert ready to repent or face His wrath. The truth is that God is all-loving and all-just because He is holy. That means He has a great love for us and at the same time will punish sin because that is His nature. In Genesis 6 we learn how God responds to a broken, sinful and disobedient world. What we learn from Genesis 6 will help us understand how He deals with us today. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
In this message we compare and contrast the genealogical lines of Cain and Seth. It’s not uncommon for people to skip or skim this text but God writes His Word to us because He has a message for us to understand. This week as we studied the text we saw the differences in the posterity of families based upon who the men were in the family tree. We discovered several interesting facts and learned what God wants us to understand what He values most in our lives. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
For many of us even when we know the answers to the questions we are being asked we are uncomfortable with people prying into our lives. This week’s four question quiz was an opportunity for all of us to allow the LORD to help evaluate our worship of Him. This is important for us to understand because the worship of the LORD Jesus Christ is paramount to our relationship with God and brings us the greatest joy. The good news about this quiz is that even if we are not doing well we can start afresh through confession and repentance. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
There are three problems with sin that demonstrate our need for a Savior. In Genesis 3 we learned that although God created a perfect world and a made human beings the crown of His creation (image-bearers) both Adam and Eve sinned. This sin changed our relationship with God, one another, and the world He created. Since we can’t hide, avoid punishment or save ourselves we are in great need of mercy. Fortunately, God provided a promise that one day satan would be defeated and God would provide a way for mankind to be redeemed. Understanding God’s Word in Genesis 3 provides the need for a Savior and demonstrates God’s goodness in spite of our sin. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Genesis chapter 3 highlights the fall of mankind by showing how Adam and Even listened to the voice of satan rather than being obedient to LORD God. Our LORD God created a perfect world to be inhabited by human beings who would bear His image; however, when sin entered the world everything changed. Our relationship with God and others is now contaminated by sin causing all sorts of problems including the fact that we will all die. While this story is painful and tragic it is imperative that we study and learn from this story so that we can learn the Gospel and grow in Christ. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Genesis 2:4-25 shows more from God’s perspective of His creation on Day 6. God not only made the earth a unique planet to be inhabited but created human beings as the crown of all of His creation. Although the earth was wonderfully made, it was not complete until God had human beings placed on the earth to accomplish His work. We also learned about the beauty of marriage and God’s design for deep relationships and procreation. God’s Word is a very accurate, historical account of how the universe was created and established by Him. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
In this message we will study the opening narrative in our Bible. Pastor Jeff will attempt to ask and answer three specific questions: First, Who created the universe? Second, How was the universe created? Third, Do you believe this? In an attempt to answer these questions, we read the entire passage from Genesis 1:1-2:3 and then began to allow Scripture to help us search for answers. By simply allowing God to speak for Himself we learned that God created the everything in the universe in six, literal, 24-hour, consecutive days and then rested on the seventh day. The biggest question that must be answered is whether you believe the plain reading of God’s Word or not. As mentioned in the message this is not an issue of salvation but of Biblical Authority. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
The first message in our Alpha and Omega series helps us understand how God established the world and how He plans to restore the world in the future. Because these topics have been deemed controversial, many Christians have not taken the time to explore and believe the truths found in the first 11 chapters of the Bible. However, God makes His Word clear and therefore it remains imperative that we allow the Word of God to speak and that we place ourselves under His authority. As we began our series we answered two main questions: Why teach Genesis 1-11 and how is God introduced? Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
In the great commandment of Matthew 22, what we see is that all of scripture finds it’s fulfillment through our love for God and our love for others. God desires our lives to be fully devoted to Him, that we would have an abiding relationship with God. From that abiding relationship, we would then pour that out and love those who are around us. Jesus tells us to go out and make disciples, and so our faith is not for ourselves but for all those we come across in our lives. It’s important to know that this isn’t easy, and it all has to be done out of God’s strength in and through us. Speaker: Mark Guthrie
Throughout history, we have seen generations ebb and flow in their faith and even have entire generations, such as the judges 2 generation that did not know the Lord. That will not be our story here at BRAVE. We want to invest in the next generation and not experience generational faith drift. As you listen to this sermon, pay attention to the ways that the Israelites missed the mark and ask the question...how might God be asking me to help build up the faith of the next generation? Speaker: Josh Mackey
When we see the landscape of our culture and ask the question, “What in the world is going on?”, that is a signal that God is wanting to gain our attention. As Christians, we may wrongly think that God is simply upset at non-believers and is ready to punish them, but the fact remains that He cares so much about us as His children that He wants our hearts to be completely centered on Him. As you listen to this sermon and review the notes, it is our hope that God will get your attention and that you will respond in faith. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
As Israel transitioned their leadership from Moses to Joshua, Moses encouraged the entire assembly of Israel as well as Joshua to be strong and courageous. The reason for this confidence stemmed from the fact that it was the Lord who was going before them, would be with them, and had a perfect track record of faithfulness. In our lives today, the Lord is the One whom we can trust as we set our hearts upon him. As you listen to this sermon and review the notes, it is our hope that fear will no longer have a grip on you. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
In our world, at times, we begin to think “if only” we could change our circumstances; our feelings on the inside would change as well. However, the reality is that at any time, we can experience the presence of Christ and be content no matter what situation we face. By being obedient to God’s Word, we can grow and remain in a state of contentment. May God continue to grow you in your contentment in Him. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
In a world that causes uneasiness, worry, doubt, and fear, and it important that we trust God for His leading in our lives. As believers, we have the ability to be consumed by Christ’s peace in any given moment. This is because peace is not the absence of conflict; it is the favor of God through it. We learned that stress, worry, and anxiety are an invitation by God for us to seek His face and pray. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
The Apostle Paul writes from a prison cell to let us know that joy is not just an idea but a reality for those who know the person and work of Jesus Christ. In seasons of difficulties and uncertainties, sometimes it becomes difficult to maintain our joy and yet it is completely possible through Jesus Christ. Consider the Word of God this week as you aspire to experience the fullness of the joy found in Jesus Christ. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Jesus not only came to bring us eternal life, but he also provides us abundant life here on earth. His first miracle of turning water into wine not only helped authenticate that he was the promised Messiah, but it was also a foreshadowing of how he alone would provide cleansing of sin for whoever would repent and call on his name to be saved. Speaker: Jon Gaus
It doesn’t matter how you start, it is how you finish. Clearly, we know that we have reached the finish line when we meet Jesus Christ face to face. The challenge today is that too many believers simply assume that finishing well is a guarantee, but the reality demonstrated that comparatively few believers finish well. In this section of Scripture, the Lord highlights the requirements for finishing well and how we are to live presently in order to see that accomplished in and through our lives. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Our fellowship with Christ is a relationship that must be nurtured and cultivated. Our walk with Jesus Christ is not some mechanical set of principles to ensure that we will arrive in heaven; instead, it is a relationship that continues to grow if we do not get sidetracked by external or internal challenges. In this passage, God warns us that those outside of the faith, as well as internal pride, can hinder our relationship with the Lord. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Many believers know that they should experience their deepest significance from Christ but are still trapped by the temptations in our world that encourage us to find our significance elsewhere. The attitude we should have towards significance should reflect our identity in the Lord Jesus Christ. Only with Christ at the center of our lives is it even possible to find significance in Him. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
All of us as believers in Jesus Christ desire to grow in Christ and have more of His life living in and through us, but rarely do we understand the metrics on whether or not we are growing. In Philippians 2:12-18, we learn what God sets forth as a standard for us to grow and learn that it is indeed possible to grow in our relationship with Christ if we posture ourselves correctly. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Jesus Christ modeled humility by leaving the glories of heaven and taking on human flesh for eternity. He became obedient to death on a cross for the sins of the world. The incredible model of humility demonstrated from our Lord Jesus Christ should motivate us to live like Him. In our world, we are normally taught to put ourselves first, whereas Jesus Christ helps others understand that we should place God’s desires first and others second. We should come in a distant third. The only way this is possible is by knowing our identity in Christ Jesus and knowing where we are heading. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
In our society, being a servant can often become about comparison. In other words, it’s easier to judge the service of others rather than allowing God to earnestly show us our own hearts. Becoming a servant for Jesus Christ involves resting in our identity, believing in who God says we are, and acting upon what we believe. May God continue to grow us as servants as we continue to seek Him. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
We know Paul, as a pastor for the church in Philippi, wanted his people to understand their identity as Kingdom citizens. Being persuaded by the media and current circumstances can deflect what is most important. It can also cloud your relationship to Jesus Christ and what it means to honor Him. As a community, we represent Christ and are His kingdom citizens. With the Gospel as our foundation and Christ at our side, we are called to live for Him regardless of the consequences. Even if it means suffering for Christ, we know this is simply a sign of our salvation and the fact that our opponents are facing certain destruction. May we grow in our understanding of our citizenship and may pastors guide the flock with these convictions. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
How can we grow our prophetic voice so that we are actually able to "talk our walk"? In other words, what are the necessary foundations for us to be able to speak up in a situation and have our words matter? The Apostle Paul never had to change his messaging because he was indeed a man whose deeds aligned with his words. Sometimes, as believers, we yearn to be more aligned with what we truly believe. During the growth of our sanctification process, God is helping us to develop in our character, so we reflect His glory. May God help you set a stronger foundation in your walk with Him so that your voice is stronger and has a greater influence for Him. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Answering four questions addresses how we can share the Gospel more effectively. There is more to the Gospel than simply passing out a tract or sending an email. Your very life communicates the very message of the Gospel. Even when the answers to these questions affirm our readiness, we can always grow more in our effectiveness. The Apostle Paul celebrated that his time in prison actually furthered the progress of the Gospel. People were hearing of Christ, and Christians were exercising more boldness in sharing their faith. May Paul’s example exhort us to become stronger in our witness. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
Spending time in the presence of God changes us. When we go to God in prayer, we become humble because we realize we are nothing more than willing slaves for His glory. Yet, at the same time, we are saints of God through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Spending time in God’s presence also makes us grateful for the opportunity to participate in Christ’s mission of the Gospel. There is no greater joy than knowing that God is using your life to impact the world for Christ. Through this mission, we gain deep friendships and a love for God that is deep and special, unlike any other, and we also gain a strong desire to see God’s people mature and grow. As the Apostle Paul writes under the influence of the Holy Spirit, we should grow in our hunger to spend time alone with Jesus. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we discussed the responses people always have to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Four soils were addressed by Jesus in His parable. Jesus provided three examples of bad soil that produce nothing because the Word is not allowed to take root and be nourished. However, when good soil is available, the Word of God always produces exponential results. Jesus said this story was foundational to all the other parables that He would teach. Even today, we understand there is never a problem with the Word of God; the only problem can be on the heart where it lands. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we discussed some of God’s glorious attributes and how we should respond based upon Psalm 139. This wonderful Psalm depicts the fact that God knows all things, is everywhere and is all-powerful. These attributes of God should absolutely blow us away. God is so far beyond anything we are, and yet He is intimately acquainted with all of our ways. As you spend time in your groups this week, encourage one another to own the truths about God’s character and how we should be responding to Him. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week we talked about the importance of endurance as we continue our walk with Jesus Christ. Four ways of continuing to run were addressed in Hebrews 12:1-3 that can help us grow in our faith. At times when we are discouraged and want to quit, God’s Word proves helpful to show us that when we finish, it will all be worth it. It also helps to have people around us to encourage us to keep taking steps. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
This week on Resurrection Sunday, we looked in the Gospel of Mark to gain an understanding of how Jesus defined one of His followers. So often, we hear the facts that Jesus rose from the dead, but this week we discovered the results of what responding to the resurrection does in the life of a believer. Four crucial points were highlighted in the text, which all followers of Jesus Christ believe. Since Jesus is THE Life and wants us to be made alive, we have the opportunity to repent and trust Him, and because He is returning soon, it becomes imperative for us to respond to Him now. The biggest question is, Who do you say Jesus is? Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
In the book of Joel, God used His prophet to instruct Israel during a time of agricultural crisis and fear of attack from an enemy. During this time of crisis, God instructed His people that He was in control and wanted them to return to Him in humility and dependence so that He would be glorified as the preeminent One! Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
The onslaught of fear-based messaging by the media has caused many people (even believers) to question why the current situation is happening. Yes, COVID-19 is a very real concern, which can lead to tragic results, but in the midst of this, God wants us to understand that He has always been our source of peace. When distress is prevalent in our culture, God wants to understand “why” so that you can find your way back to Him, because He is waiting for us to find Him. Speaker: Jeff Schwarzentraub
