You know what cool is? Cool is seeing a girl that is usually on the other side of the fence, cheering for her guy decide that its time for her to get on a bike and learn how to ride. Cool is being super nervous but digging deep and taking those first steps. Cool is not letting a fall stop you from trying again. Cool is knowing that its not easy - but going for it anyways!
I'm lucky to know a lot of "Cool" Girls.
Meet Brielle, a sweet Mum of a wild Labrador named Zoey - pictured.
Brielle has only been riding for about a month and happened to be riding at my house the other day. I watched her taking multiple laps - with each one she was gaining slightly more confidence.
Its been months since I have made a podcast. Things have been super busy for me but seeing her so new out there hit me - this is the core of DBGA.
I had to ask for an interview to find out more about Brielle at the very beginnings of her dirt biking journey...

I am convinced that there is no better time then RIGHT NOW for women in the sport! So many "RAD CHICK'S" are making their marks with their own creative twists! In 2012 when DBGA first popped on the scene it wasn't quite as easy to connect with other female riders the way it is today. Now here we are in 2020 and while it's been a challenging year so far, there is for certain no shortage of inspirational women. I found "RAD CHICK'S SOCIETY" and had to connect with its founder, Jessica Nason. Jessica may be a new rider but she's not necessarily new to the sport and she is #livinglife pursuing her passions- which personally are passions along the line of one of my own... highlighting "RAD CHICK'S" who do extreme sports like Skate Boarding, BMX, Surfing, Motorcycling and much more! MK from Rutstoracelines.com Marika is paying it forward after, Natasha a good friend of hers encouraged her to step out of her comfort zone and introduced her to "Track Days" where speed seeking sport bikers converge to drag armored knees on rubber etched pavement. This sport biker has had an epic journey on two wheels where you can not only find her pushing the edge on paved ribbons but also challenging herself and others to get a little uncomfortable in the dirt. MK creates women only events and instructional opportunities to get them riding what she enjoys - her love for the sport and her edgy no bull style is as badass as the sports we love. MK says she is "Dedicated to help women build confidence and skill to become better and safer riders!" and how can we not all want to stand up and give her a virtual high 5 for that?!... Starting the podcast off interviewing a great friend and riding buddy, Heidi Hawkins!
For as small as our dirt biking community is - we are incredibly diverse. Some of us started riding as small children and some not until they were well into adulthood. Some of us take the sport to the greatest heights in seriousness and some just want to have a little fun on the weekend. Some of us have brand new bikes every season and some of us mend and repair old ones season after season. One thing that is we all have in common is we love to ride and we feel pretty hardcore when we get on that bike and kick up some dirt... One thing I have felt since I became a motorcyclist is that everyone has a story and if it includes a motorcycle I want to hear it!
This is Heidi's Story -
Heidi is one of those people that does amazing things in life and makes big impacts on others, yet she is so humble most would never even know it.
In this episode, Heidi will talk with us about how she became interested in riding and share a little bit of her riding experiences with us... Heidi also discusses how she connects her dirt bike hobby with her career as a Chief Probation Officer! She is definitely one of those unsung hero's as she constantly works to make her community a better place and helps to get troubled youth back on the right track.
It's a great story and I'm glad to share it with the DBGA Community.
