They say all good things must come to an end, and after 110 shows, countless guests and experiences, Hearsay On the Air bids adieu. In the last few years, I've learned so much from our guests, hosts and fellow employees and am forever grateful that they shared their stories.

There are so many people to thank for sharing the experience, and I'll begin by thanking my co-hosts: Ronny, Eli and Alissa.  I asked them to take a chance on the show and to bring their unique insights to the program.  Each had a different approach to the show, and it was a pleasure working with them.

Thank you to our guests!  Whether they were industry thought leaders, customers or our own employees, everyone came prepared and were open to the format even when I would throw them a curve ball or two.

Finally, I'd like to thank you, the listener. The show was always built around wanting to inform and entertain you, hence our "Info-tainment" We hope that the show kept you engaged, provided some new insight, and maybe made you laugh from time-to-time.

If you'd like to keep in touch, please find me on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/victorgaxiola

Thank you for listening,

When we started this little “experiment” we never imagined it would last to see 100 episodes, and yet, here we are. Hearsay On the Air has become a part of our culture bringing together the voices of our people, customers, partners and industry thought leaders. Along the way, we’ve had some fun taking the show on the road, and adding value through “infotainment.”

To celebrate the milestone, we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than to bring back Ronny Kerr (@ronnykerr) and Eli Menaker (@elizelig) to share their favorite episodes and experiences on the program as well as provide us an update on what they have been up to since their days at Hearsay. I thank them both for coming back to the show.

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thanks to ALL of our guests on the show who have taken time out of their schedule to lend us their thoughts, stories and ideas. You are the show, and we could not have done it without you.

Finally, we’d like to thank all of our listeners. Thank you for listening and for providing feedback and encouragement along the way. Whether you are walking the dog, commuting, or exercising as you listen to our program, we hope it’s brought a smile, a laugh or made you think along the way. We hope you enjoy listening to the show as much as we enjoy recording it.

In Episode 97, Brittany Hedin (@justalittleBrit), Executive Assistant in Customer Success and Marketing at Hearsay Systems joins me to review and expand on the 12 digital marketing trends in 2017 from Business 2 Community. Taking advantage of our global team visiting in San Francisco for our bi-annual Company Kickoff Event (CKO), we also asked a few individuals to weigh in on their own predictions on what marketing trends we can expect this year.

12 digital marketing trends of 2017

  1. The increasing dominance of video ads - YouTube and FB have these down but Google has entered the fray with in-SERP video advertising.
  2. More live video - Every major social network has jumped on this train and has proved to be the internet's shiny new toy. Live video and influencers will likely unite in 2017 with product placement and sponsorships becoming more common.
  3. Mobile will completely dominate desktop - This continues to be on the list but it's still important since the desktop is still fading away and hand-held devices are still on the rise.
  4. Dedicated apps will find their way - An app offers all the features of a mobile-optimized website but in a more intuitive, convenient, and accessible way.
  5. Social conversion is coming - Social media will work as new conversion channels and offer tools to convert prospects directly into buyers.
  6. Search algorithm will change. And change again. - Search engine giants will keep on updating their algorithm to decide what content should get priority and rank higher in search engine result pages.
  7. Online advertising will become more expensive - As the demand for top advertising spots rises, the prices for online advertising will increase.
  8. Unique, high-quality content will be the key - The influx of professional writers and video producers will make content marketing more competitive, and there will be a huge demand for niche-based writers who possess knowledge and expertise in their subject matter.
  9. Conversion rate optimization to offer high ROI - Conversion rate optimization helps you track user behavior on your site and identify elements that are producing the highest number of conversions.
  10. Growth hacking will continue to evolve -The need for digital marketers to quickly grab their audiences’ attention through social media channels, viral marketing, and organic ads in 2017 will take growth hacking to an even bigger level.
  11. Using all the big data - One of big data’s way of being useful is personalized customer experience and marketing. One-to-one marketing will slowly become more prevalent as brands weigh opportunity and cost and find ways of introducing it into their messaging.
  12. Native advertising - Native advertising is an old method, but Smith thinks that market forces should increase its prominence in 2017 because the diminishing penetration of many ads – through ad blockers, reduced social media organic reach, and the decline of banner ads – will see an increase of native advertising.

As 2016 comes to a close we reflect on the themes and activities of the year as well as the special guests we’ve had on #HSonAir. 2016 was a tumultuous year with a divisive presidential election, the deaths of notable entertainment and political figures, and the uncertainty of the DOL fiduciary rule in 2017.

At Hearsay, we continued our focus on upgrading the social and digital experience for end users supporting the rise of the omnichannel advisor. We also expanded the conversation on the changing landscape of our industry at the annual Innovation Summit, industry conferences and our regional customer roundtables.

We’d like to thank all of our guests on the show- especially our customers who joined us to share their insights and experiences as well as the many industry thought leaders and pioneers that are making our industry better each day. I would also like to thank our employees that not only share their talents to improve our products and services, but the ongoing support of the show with the many “asks” that I make throughout the year. Finally, I’d like to thank you, our listeners, for lending us your ears and taking the time to share the show with others. We wish you all a very Happy New Year and as always invite you to be part of the conversation with us on Twitter using hashtag #HSonAir.
