Everyone agrees - creativity is an important skill students need to learn in school. Employers value it as one of the top qualities they look for, and the state of South Carolina even included creative qualities in the Profile of the SC Graduate which was made law a few years ago. But how do you get teachers, in all content areas, prepared to engrain creativity into their lessons? In this episode, we sit down with Kim Wilson of the Arts in Basic Curriculum Project to talk about how professional development opportunities, school cultures, and teacher education can help teachers weave creativity into their classroom.

They provide students, teachers, parents, and the public at large, a look into what students are learning in their school. And in the arts, we've got shiny new ones to show off in 2018!

In this episode, we sit down with Carrie Ann Power, Education Associate for Visual & Performing Arts at the SC Department of Education, and talk about new Visual & Performing Arts standards which will fully roll out in schools across the state next school year.

At the core of every piece of art, in every medium, is a story. We have always used art to tell our stories, and we're slightly addicted to them - telling them, hearing them, capturing them, and hearing them. In fact, we love stories so much, that we have an entire industry dedicated to telling them - Journalism.

In this episode we sit down with Elizabeth LaFleur, a journalist for The Greenville News, to talk about creativity, journalism, and the art of story-telling.
