Dr. Ed Young is the Senior Pastor at Second Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. He is a gifted and dynamic communicator, seen and heard around the world via the radio, television and internet ministry of The Winning Walk.
We live in a celebrity-loving culture that values fame, reputation, and name recognition. As we seek to serve on God’s team, we must recognize that the values that truly matter – servanthood, accountability, trustworthiness, and justice – may make us subject to criticism and even ridicule.
If the culture seeps into the church, it is like a poison that undermines its very foundation. To prevent this, we must have a clear understanding of who we are in Christ, what we are to do, and how we are to live. Three powerful metaphors explain what we are to be as we grow and mature in our walk.
When you develop a hunger for the spiritual nourishment God provides through His Word, you will become better equipped to know the mind of Christ, to arm yourself with the weapons you need for the warfare in which we are engaged, and you will learn how to stand firm against the forces of evil.
God makes available to us, through His Holy Spirit, the very mind of Christ. Imagine what that is like, and how this can transform your daily walk, your vocabulary, your habits, and your relationships. What an amazing gift is ours when we have the wisdom of God, which is the very mind of Christ.
The world may applaud prestige, power, and wealth, but God has leveled the playing field through His Son, who embodied both the wisdom of God and the power of God. Through His sacrificial death on the Cross, Jesus made new life available to all who receive it, and provided our only basis for boasting.
You may have encountered people who believe that there are many roads and many paths to heaven and that it doesn’t matter which one you take as long as you are sincere. But those who are in Christ know that there is only one way to Heaven, a way that was planned by God, prepared by God, and provided by God through His Son.
Because God wants us to live with confidence in this life and have assurance of eternal life with Him, He has given us all the evidence we need that Jesus is who He claims to be. Jesus came out of the light of eternity to enter the darkness of this world that we can know that we are members of the family of God.
Love is encompassed in who God is, what He has done for us, and what He continues to do. When our walk is consistent with what we profess, others will know what love is because they will see it demonstrated in how we live. The Holy Spirit in us helps us model the kind of love the world has never seen and cannot comprehend.
Can we know when a choice we make is consistent with God’s will? How can we discern when something is valid and true and will stand up to the pressures of life? God’s Word has given us several tests and resources that will help us know for certain that our decisions are based on biblical truth.
Nothing is hidden from God and there is no comfortable middle ground for those who embrace the worldview of a Christ-follower. To do so means you may often be misunderstood or unpopular, and you will go against the flow of the culture. But you will also experience the incomparable joy of knowing your life is pleasing to God.
When God’s Word tells us to do something, it always gives us the reason why. While change may occur in a moment, godly character is developed over time as we obey those commands that make a difference in how we live, affect the way we relate to others, and help us face the future with confident expectation.
We are in a battle in which the enemy uses whatever means possible to keep us from walking in the light and walking in the truth. Only when we remember that this world is temporary can we resist the enemy’s lies, refuse to compromise, and walk consistently and victoriously in the reality of eternity.
The better we understand who Jesus is, the better able we become to trust that what He has done on our behalf has truly set us free. No matter what He calls us to do, we wlll also have the assurance that He will give us the capacity to do it.
Far too many people create their own false image of God, and this is the God they worship. In order to see God clearly, and to know how He sees us, we must walk in the light of His Word so we can have a real, vibrant and living relationship with Him.
Have you ever responded, “I think so,” or “I hope so” when asked about your understanding of God and His love for you? If so, you can experience true joy when you learn to replace doubt with belief, and confusion or uncertainty with understanding.
The word “faith” is one of the most misunderstood words in the Bible! Far too often we limit ourselves by focusing on the size of our faith, when what matters is the object of that faith. Little faith can become strong when you place that faith in God, then allow Him to take it and use it to do amazing things in and through you.
So many of us are lost in life because of our foolishness, carelessness, or selfishness. Even our nation has wandered away from God and is lost. Discover how our Heavenly Father handles our lostness through three parables of Jesus in one of the greatest chapters in the Bible, Luke 15.
Love your neighbor as yourself. That is one of the greatest commandments, but how do we determine in today’s culture where to expend our time, energy, or money? In other words, how big a circle should we draw around ourselves in order to identify those we include as our neighbors?
In three parable vignettes, Jesus draws a dividing line between a life built on the rock of commitment to God and His will and purposes and one built on the shifting sand of lip service and worldly “fun and freedom.”
The parables present truths God uses to challenge us and wake us up to apply His principles in our daily lives. But just as seed that is sown in a garden depends on the condition of the soil to determine whether it germinates and grows, how we respond to the truths of God depends on the condition of our hearts.
In this candid and engaging message, Dr. Young is interviewed by his son, Dr. Ben Young, about what God’s Word says about parenting today, and about what he has learned from his own life experiences as a father and grandfather. It is a Father’s Day message that is relevant any day of the year!
The joy of Heaven will include a wonderful time of celebration and reunion. Not only will we see God, but He will be the lens through which we see everything else, and our love for our neighbors, our family and our friends will continue in the perfection in Heaven.
Heaven has views beyond anything you’ve ever seen.
Imagine the best self you could ever be, and that will give you just a hint of what you will be like in Heaven. Even the best we experience in this life is merely a foretaste of what we will realize when we receive our supernatural, heavenly bodies.
Imagine the best self you could ever be, and that will give you just a hint of what you will be like in Heaven. Even the best we experience in this life is merely a foretaste of what we will realize when we receive our supernatural, heavenly bodies.
We have an inherent fascination with heaven and what it will be like, because we sense that there is something more and bigger than this world. Everything changes when we comprehend the basic but amazing truth that heaven is real!
In a very real sense, the whole story of life is acted out in history on Mount Calvary. It was here, on what we refer to as Good Friday, that Jesus was crucified between two thieves. We learn from them that the way in which people respond to the message of the Cross determines their eternity for all of eternity.
Do you want to experience the approval of God? When you genuinely receive Christ as your Savior and Lord, you can have confidence that you are approved by God! The smile of God will be on your life, and you will begin to see yourself the way God sees you.
The truth is, You Can overcome Temptation.
So many great events in the story of God’s people took place on a mountaintop. From Elijah calling down God’s fire on Mount Carmel to Noah’s experience on Mount Ararat, God leads His followers to the summit to show them something new and unexpected that could only come from Him. God’s calling you to a unique and intimate experience of His presence. So don’t stay stuck in the valley... you were made to climb!
God is currently working out His plan for you specifically.

The Christian life must have balance.

Motherhood is not only demanding, it is also a high and sacred calling. This Mother’s Day testimony defines and honors motherhood as perhaps nothing else could, and it celebrates the forgiveness and reconciliation that God makes available to those who love Him.
What we believe should determine how we live, the direction we go and the choices we make. Romans 13 provides clear guidelines for living under the authority of government without compromising our allegiance to Christ or the teachings of God’s Word.

This very practical “how to” guide provides detailed instructions for loving both fellow believers within the church as well as non-believers outside the church. When we commit to love people as Christ commanded, we discover what authentic love is all about.
What kind of church would you have if everyone in it was just like you? God has a plan and a purpose for your life in the body of faith, the church. When we each fulfill the role God has for us in this body of faith, we become a mighty symphony orchestra for Him.
Consider how amazing it is that the Creator of all the universe and the Creator of life itself wants to have a personal relationship with you! As this psalm suggests, the best way to start any day, even the difficult ones, is to look to God, seek Him in prayer, and ask for the guidance He freely provides for the choices and decisions you will make that day.
Just as a child who is frightened and alone wants to be comforted by his father, we seek comfort in moments of desperation by crying out for God to hear and answer our prayers. What a relief it is to know that God not only hears us but invites us to walk with Him into the light of His presence.
What sustains you in moments of crisis? What should you do when you feel that everything is against you? You may turn in a number of directions, but only when you look up will you recover from your brokenness and pain as you restore your trust and confidence in God.
God is a refuge to those who place their trust in Him. We live in a culture that recognizes no absolutes and finds biblical morality unacceptable. This can be disturbing until we remember that while they may repudiate God’s leadership and seek to ignore His sovereignty, He is in control, and they are in His hands.
When a nation or culture experiences division, disagreement, and partisanship, there is a solution instead of yielding to passivity or anxiety. God has provided a practical and workable outline for restoring relationships and pointing people to the healing message of the Cross of Christ.
How should individuals, and how should the church, respond to all the problems besetting our country today? Instead of becoming defeated by the challenges all around us, the answer is that we remember, and cling to, the foundational truths that define our identity, our purpose, and our ultimate destination.
At some point during your lifetime, you will most likely experience a thorn – a problem or situation you perceive not only as a weakness, but as something that limits your effectiveness. How God wants you to respond is one of the most critical principles you will learn in your walk with Christ.
When we are confronted with the big issues of life, it is not the strength of our faith that will matter, but the object of that faith. Because Jesus has the power and the authority to meet every need in our lives, we can confidently place our faith in Him.
Everything good happens at the feet of Jesus! That is where healing, and restoration, and forgiveness begin. Spend time at the feet of Jesus and you will begin to see yourself, and the world around you, in a way you have never seen them before.
God desires to be with us, to touch us, and to be relevant in our lives. The Bible tells us that God is nearer than any of us can imagine or understand. We can trust Him to be present and available to His children in every circumstance of life.
We have all experienced how circumstances can change in an instant, and mountain top experiences may be followed by moments of despair. Fortunately, when we learn to turn to God in our brokenness and pain, He can turn even our lowest moments physically into our highest moments of spiritual power and strength.
The hidden childhood years of Jesus reveal an important principle for effective parenting. If you want to help your children determine their life purpose and realize all that God wants to build into their lives, provide opportunities for them to spend time with their Heavenly Father.
Some questions are so important that they need to be answered before any real understanding can be achieved. The teachings of Jesus enable us to walk with Him through His public ministry and learn what He said and what He did so we can answer the question that will make the most significant difference in our lives.
In a season of uncertainty, or when something happens that you didn’t anticipate, how can you know you are making wise choices and are headed in the right direction? As we begin to walk and grow in the power of God, we can rest in the assurance that the Holy Spirit will guide and direct us in the way we should go.
When we become members of God’s family, He gives us the Holy Spirit to be our counselor, our helper, and our healer. The Spirit operates like a floodlight in our lives, pointing us to the things of Christ, giving us a new mindset, and redirecting us to become the people God wants us to be.
The genius of the Christian life is to know that you are “in Christ.” But how did Jesus – through His birth, life, death, and resurrection – fulfill the requirements of the Law so that we might be forgiven, free, and no longer u
Romans 8 provides the ABCs of the Christian life. It teaches us how to live as God intended, and it contains the welcome news that God has done for us, in Christ, what we could not do for ourselves. He has set us free from both the penalty and the power of sin.
Wise parents soon learn that God’s way isn’t complicated, but it is costly! Parents who want their children to have lives that are worthwhile and fulfilling will discipline in love, let kids experience the results of poor choices, and recognize that their goal as parents is to help their kids grow to experience all that God intended for them.
Distractions can be detrimental to family health. Kids need both the time and focused attention of their parents. Successful parents know how important it is to create and take advantage of timely opportunities to connect with their kids.
Jesus issued severe warnings to anyone who would harm a child or cause him to stumble. When parents love their children unconditionally and provide the discipline and instruction they need, they help them grow into the men and women God created them to become.
As the foundational cornerstones of our culture crumble around us, it is more important than ever for men and women to know how to hit the center of the target in the way they parent their children. Parents have the highest calling in the world, and they exercise that calling by helping their children find and fulfill God’s purpose for their lives.

Today’s world is filled with uncertainty and danger, so it is not surprising when people feel helpless at times. But if you are a child of God you can be confident that, whatever happens, He has you in the palm of His loving and capable hand.
Stand at the foot of the Cross and you will see how great the love of God is for us. He is sufficient for every situation in life, He meets our needs, and He provides the comfort that will sustain us in times of suffering and loss.
Fear may convince us that God is not present in times of danger, and that He will not - or cannot - help us. Our problem is one of focus. Turn your thoughts toward God, and you you will remember Who He is and how he works in the lives of those who trust in Him.
In times of crisis, God equips His children to minister to their families and community as they become the hands and feet of Jesus in extraordinary ways. As we feed the hungry, comfort the afflicted, and encourage the broken-hearted, we fulfill - as at no other time - our God-given assignment.
It takes a lot of strength to swim against the tide of our culture. But that is precisely what biblical marriage requires. God has a plan for marriage, and when we understand and live according to that plan, we will be in a right relationship with God and with our mate.
Gradualism is a frightening word. It refers to what happens when we move away from operating on the basis of the wisdom God provides for us. To combat gradualism, return to the blueprint God has given us that contains the instructions we need for victorious daily living.
One of the greatest challenges of our culture is that, as a people, we have lost our sense of the holiness of God. The solution: Don’t put God in a box! Draw near to Him, listen to Him, and invite Him to occupy the place He desires – and deserves - to have in your life.
Sometimes God’s grace comes to us in the form of discipline. If we fail to listen to God when He whispers to us in love, He may force us to listen when He shouts to us in discipline. But God is also in the business of forgiveness. When we return to Him, His amazing grace will restore us, heal us, and bless us for His service.
There are defining moments in every life. Depending on how we respond to them, our lives thereafter may be forever changed. As we encounter those defining moments, we can trust God to lead us in the direction that honors Him and equips us to make a difference in the lives of others.
Walking with God is a daily discipline. When you are consistent in your walk with the Lord, and apply the timeless principles of His Word in your marriage, in your family, and in your everyday life, you will gain the confidence He gives to those who trust Him in every circumstance of life.
Have you ever stopped to think that one way we are unique in creation is that God has given us the capacity to worship Him? When our worship is genuine, we come to God on His terms, humbly asking Him to help us see the world as He sees it, and to see ourselves as He sees us.
Whether you have been married for five weeks or fifty years, God has a plan for your marriage – and that plan is beautiful, exciting, dynamic and fulfilling. When we follow HIs blueprint for this covenant relationship with our spouse, we learn that in marriage, as in all of life, God’s plan works.
Sometimes we need a wake-up call to keep us from becoming complacent! In the same way that parents expect their children to grow and develop, God monitors the development of His children. He expects us to avoid the paralysis of the status quo.
Once you have enrolled in God’s school of faith, you can expect to encounter some challenging tests along the way. The tests God allows us to face are demonstrations of our willingness to give Him highest priority in our lives, and to surrender to Him anything that we may treasure more than our relationship with Him.
The life of Jesus is bracketed by two miracles: the Virgin Birth at Christmas and the Resurrection at Easter. In this insightful message, we discover how these two major prophecies are supported and understood from the parallel accounts of the genealogies of Jesus.
The Incarnation, which we celebrate at Christmas, is one of the great mysteries at the heart of Christianity. The birth of Jesus was unlike all other births, as God became man and dwelt among us to demonstrate the depth of His love for us and His desire to have a personal relationship with us.
It’s unfortunate, but true, that we don’t always keep the promises we make. But when God makes a promise, He always delivers! We can celebrate the fact that God kept His promise when He visited this world in time and space in the person of His Son, Jesus, who became flesh and blood and dwelt among us.
It is possible to avoid the dangers of becoming stagnant in our Christian walk. When we know that we belong to Christ, we grow day by day as we invite Him to transform everything about us. The result is joy – real joy – and the overflowing, abundant life God intend for His children.
Whether you came to Christ through a natural, gentle process, a dramatic encounter with the Lord, or following a painful prodigal experience, we are all called to grow and develop in our walk with Christ day by day. God calls us, and equips us, to commit to an ongoing, intentional growth until our lives reflect the presence of Christ in us.
Is there a standard for measuring Christian maturity? How do you move from being an immature, adolescent Christian to a mature believer who has the sweet aroma of Christ in his life? The answer may surprise you!
Of the thousands of promises in the Bible, how many of them have you claimed? In other words, how willing are you to take God as His word? To receive the promises of God we need to believe not only what He says, but trust that He will do what He has promised and have confidence that He cannot fail.
Do you know how to handle temptation when it comes? We live in a fallen world that bombards us with evil every day. We can expect testing to come, but we can be confident that God will not lead us into testing that is greater than we can endure.
Forgiveness is at the very heart of the Lord’s Prayer. To stay right with God, we need to ask for forgiveness when we have missed the mark or gotten off course. Then, as we receive the grace of God, we need to offer grace to others.
When we really pray, we begin with worship as we recognize that all of life is sacred. We acknowledge who God is and who we are, and we come into God’s presence in wonder, awe, and humility. We meet with God as He meets with us.
When we become part of the family of God, everything about our lives is transformed. Our prayers will have power because we can approach God as our Father, knowing that all the holes and gaps in our lives will be filled by Him.
How we respond to the disappointments, temptations, and injustices in our lives depends on our perspective. Only when we learn to practice vertical living will we be able to see God at work. And only then will we discover that we no longer have room for envy, resentment or bitterness.
Feelings of sadness, a sense of hopelessness, unexplained fatigue, and a loss of zest are painful but familiar symptoms of depression, one of the leading causes of disease in the western world. While there are many contributing factors, the first step toward a cure is consistent: a willingness to let God have His way in our lives.
What happens when your focus shifts from your own blessings to those of someone else? Jealousy sets in and it is not only subtle, it can be deadly. We don’t like to deal with it, but it is at the root of so many problems. Instead of seeking to explain it away, God wants us to confess it and let Him set us free.
Storms in life can initially seem overwhelming, but we can be confident that God will use these storms to help us grow in our faith. It is in the storm that we are confronted with our weakness, and where our little faith can become big faith.
Anxiety can choke all the joy and contentment out of life. If we’re totally honest with ourselves, we admit that most of our anxiety comes from our desire to run our own lives. We worry about the mistakes of the past, and fear the uncertainties of the future, instead od trusting God’s daily provision for every situation.
God has placed boundaries in our lives to protect us and those we love, but today’s culture is intent on tearing down those boundaries and destroying our marriages and our families. Only when we live within the boundaries God has given us for our good will we have lives filled with joy, peace, and blessing.
The fabric of America is delicate, but it is also strong. Today, as never before, this fabric is being stretched, and the very foundations upon which America was founded are in danger of crumbling. We must never forget the price that was paid, and continues to be paid, to preserve this nation as the land of the free and the home of the brave.
As we interact with contemporary culture, we need to exercise discernment with everything we see and hear. As the culture redefines and reinterprets truth to fit their worldview, we need to seek a biblical perspective – and distinguish between truth and nontruth - – about socialism, capitalism, and the church.
A culture with no absolute truth is characterized by a constant flurry of counterfeit “truths” that lead to confusion and chaos. As Christians, we must have discernment to separate the true from the false, as well as the biblical knowledge to defend our faith so that we may speak the truth in love and protect our children from the sound of many false voices.
In today’s culture, the biblical definition of marriage and family is under severe attack. It is increasingly evident that the family, like a house, needs a firm foundation if it is to survive the storms that threaten its stability. Only a firm foundation will enable the family to be strong, to grow, and to become all that it can and should be.
There are injustices in our society, and we know that racial animosity has led to wars, discrimination, and oppression for centuries. The church has a responsibility to advocate for the poor, the sick, and the marginalized, but to also remember that God is no respecter of persons. Only at the cross do we see what true reconciliation looks like.
A dangerous and ungodly challenge to a biblical worldview has infiltrated our schools and the institutions that serve families. Jesus issued a particularly stern warning that is still relevant today to anyone who would place a stumbling block in the path of a child and thereby corrupt the innocence of childhood.
We live in a society that increasingly seeks to undermine the very foundations of our Judeo-Christian faith. When the need to penetrate the darkness and stand firm against the evil in our culture is so great, why does the church appear to be silent? What should members of the family of God be prepared to do?
In times of crisis, God equips His children to minister to their families and community as they become the hands and feet of Jesus in extraordinary ways. As we feed the hungry, comfort the afflicted, and encourage the broken-hearted, we fulfill - as at no other time - our God-given assignment.
When we take an honest look at our lives we may identify a painful problem or debilitating circumstance we have allowed to persist due to the shame or embarrassment of the situation. The solution, and the way out, is to respond to God’s amazing grace, His forgiveness, and His power to cleanse and restore.
At the Cross, Jesus satisfied the justice of God and demonstrated His love so that we could know what God is like and understand His plan for our lives. God becomes increasingly real to us as we fellowship with Him and invite Him to give our lives the significance that comes when we fulfill the purpose for which we were created.
We can never do enough or be good enough to restore a broken relationship with God. It is only through our acceptance of His grace, love, and forgiveness that we can return to Him. God takes the initiative to deal with the trash and hypocrisy in our lives so we can experience the wonder of being found by – and accepted by – Him.
God understands us completely and knows that we are vulnerable to the false dreams and dangerous lies of our culture. That is why He has placed eternity in our hearts so that, when we lose the joy and freedom of our relationship with Him, He can restore us to what we lost when those dreams caused us to wander away from Him.
If you seek to live on your own terms it will lead – ultimately – to the “far country” and a wasted life characterized by restlessness, emptiness, and an unhealthy sense of entitlement. But because of His great love for us, God welcomes back those who are lost when they return to Him and acknowledge His purpose for their lives.
Let’s face it. Most of us like to run our own lives and make our own decisions. When we mess up because of our pride, the solution is to acknowledge the sovereignty of God and to trust Him to work out His purpose for us.
Why am I here? That is life’s most basic and most significant question. Because we are created in the image of God, the surprising answer to the question of meaning in life will be found in our capacity to do something that distinguishes us from the rest of creation.
Get caught up in the world’s value system, and you will end up always wanting to have more, do more, and be more. Only as we recognize that God has planted eternity in our hearts are we ready to discover how He wants us to live.
Each day of our lives contains 86,400 seconds. We can’t accumulate them or get them back once they’re gone. Time is a gift from God that He wants us to use in ways that honor Him and have a positive influence on the lives of others.
If you have ever turned onto a dead-end street, you know the frustration of discovering that you are suddenly going nowhere. We can make the same mistake when we pursue anything that actually moves us farther away from a life of purpose and joy.
Parenting is a lifelong calling and responsibility that requires time, talent, and prayer. While the challenge can seem overwhelming, God has given parents clear and timeless principles for encouraging and training children to reach their full potential, and to make wise decisions that honor Him.
Far too many books on marriage and the home provide lists of guidelines for a healthy family. But God knows that we will never become everything He wants us to be just by trying harder. Only He can change our marriages and our homes so they are filled with joy and with irrational love.
The moral compass of America is broken, and this had had devastating consequences for family life today. How do we get back on track and build the right stuff into our kids and our homes? Only God can provide the practical instruction we need to build a healthy family in today’s culture.
Passive parents are not spiritual leaders in their homes, they do not provide the direction their children need, and they fail to build the right stuff into their children. By contrast, godly parents know that what they say and what they model is important, and they make the daily sacrifices essential to filling their homes with the affirmation, appreciation, and affection that constitute parenting with grace.
Parents are mirrors for their children and play a vital role in how their children see themselves and their potential. Parents who want their children to develop a healthy self-esteem will love them unconditionally and become cheerleaders for them rather than allowing their words or attitudes to limit their child’s horizon.
The key to laying a spiritual foundation for your children is to equip them to develop a biblical worldview. Parents who use the wisdom God provides can help their children understand that God’s Word is true and that His precepts are essential and relevant to every dimension of life.
Discipline in the home, if it is to be consistent and appropriate, is demanding work and requires wisdom. But discipline is a critical part of the job description of every parent as it is an important tool for helping children develop spiritually, emotionally, and mentally as it sets boundaries, provides healthy guidelines, and helps children achieve their best.
For children, love equates to time, both quality and quantity time spent with them. Parents can demonstrate their love for their children by being involved in their lives and making time for them. Love is sacrificial, and parents reveal they have open hearts by being present and available for their children.
Our homes are the most important schools our children will attend. So, if your home is a classroom, what are you teaching? Parents need to know what their children read, where they go, and what they see in order to equip them to fulfill the destiny that God intends for their lives.
Parents are called to accept responsibility for how their children are molded and shaped. Children will do what you say for a while but then they begin to do what you do. Instead of leaving it to the culture or the school to train your children, trust God to help you set an example that will serve as a godly road map for
The Bible gives practical principles – or commandments – for successful parenting, and the first of these is to truly love our children. We say “I love you” by giving them a sense of security and significance, by modeling what we want them to do and become, and by leaving a legacy of unconditional love.
To effectively apply biblical principles for parenting in our families, we need to understand that the foundational problem in the home – and in our lives in general – is our reliance on our own skills and resources instead of depending on God. Identifying our self-sufficiency and inviting God to help us are the keys to allowing Him to begin His healing and transformative work.
Whatever season of life you are in, you probably recognize that the family is in trouble. Economic challenges, conflict in the home, addictions, legalism, and abuse are epidemic, making the dysfunctional family the #1 problem in America today. God’s Word provides principles that can help us break unhealthy patterns and take important steps toward healing.
When our mind, emotions, and spirit are not in harmony, the resulting tension may be caused by a crosspull between our will and God’s will, between our desire to do as we please instead of living according to God’s plan and purpose. To resolve this tension, surrender to God and trust Him to draw you back to Himself.
When we consider the Cross of Jesus, we begin to understand just how much God loves us. It is the power of the Cross that enables us to return good for evil and to forgive our enemies. Jesus on the Cross won the victory over evil forever.
Life is not just a race or a boxing match, it is a war – and we are not bulletproof. That’s why we must appropriate the full armor of God every day. Not only does it protect us; it provides everything we need to win against the forces of evil that confront us.
If there was ever a time for boldness, it is now! In the battle we’re in, light armor will not do. Be fully clothed in the armor of God so you can defeat evil and be a difference-maker in your culture, your home, and in your sphere of influence.
Whether you’re on a mountaintop or in a valley, Satan will attempt to keep you from fulfilling the purpose God has for your life. But God has provided the resources you need to experience victory in the daily conflict against evil and all that is sinister in our world today.
If God loves us, why does He allow us to experience pain and suffering and to grapple with the consequences of evil in our world? The short answer is that His ways are higher than our ways and His agenda is beyond ours. The good news is that, in every trial we encounter, we can know that He is right there with us in the middle of our suffering.
The teachings of Jesus shine light on your finances.
Generosity is the basic determining factor of what a Christian is and does. It’s probably why Jesus said more about material stuff than anything else while He was here on earth.
