Take a moment to think back on your life. Have you ever really been taught how to manage your mind or master your emotions? How about learning the foundations of what it takes to live a happy and fulfilling life?
All too often these core skillsets of emotional wellbeing, self development and personal happiness are overlooked and undervalued by society; leaving far too many people gambling with their emotions and wrestling with their own mind on a day to day basis.
This podcast changes that by empowering you with the actionable tools and an array of incredible guests to help you thrive.
What does it mean to be 'strong'? If you asked Kellee Cameron this a few years ago the answer may have focused mainly on physical strength, perseverance, and moving forward at all costs - often to the point of burnout. This approach to life has led to many successes for Kellee. She is a successful small business owner, as well as a highly decorated and awarded athlete in the field of competitive bodybuilding.
However, sometimes achievement and happiness don't go hand in hand. Reaching a point of burnout, alongside mental health struggles within her family, led Kellee to connect with us at BU and to begin learning more about her mind and emotions. Now, Kellee is on a journey of changing her definition of what it means to be strong. She's learning to embrace vulnerability, she's developing the skills to manage her mind and emotions more effectively, and she's stepping up as a leader to spread this positive ripple effect to the people she leads as a PT and fitness industry professional.
If you're a bit of a high achiever who feels the pressure to always 'have your shit together' then this is a fantastic episode to listen to.

GET OFF THAT TREADMILL!
No not the one at the gym, the one your mind has been stuck on for way too long.
The Hedonic Treadmill, aka the "I'll be happy when" trap, is one of the most common causes of dissatisfaction in life. In today's episode I'm sharing exactly what the hedonic treadmill is; and how you begin freeing yourself from it.

"We are the average of the 5 people we spend the most time with"
This saying, and others like it, have become somewhat of a cliche in the world of personal development. However, there's a lot of truth to them.
Have you ever hung around someone for long enough that you began talking like them? Ever found yourself enjoying a new hobby when you're dating someone new? Say hello to the proximity effect.
In this episode I'm sharing what the proximity effect is and how you can leverage it to accelerate your personal development.

When we first connected with Kaitlin Pell it was during the Port Macquarie stop of our Finding Emotional Freedom Tour. In that chapter of her life, Kaitlin was struggling to manage her mind and her emotions and she was blaming the world for it. In an on-the-spot decision that would end up shaping her development for years to come Kaitlin decided to trust her gut instinct, take action on the green light decision that equally scared and excited her, and enrol into the Happiness College at BU.
Now, years later, Kaitlin is absolutely thriving. She continues to grow, develop, learn and expand with every passing month and she is a fantastic example of just how much your happiness can change when you choose to prioritise it.
If you've listened to the show for a while and wondered whether or not the Happiness College is right for you then this is a fantastic episode to listen to.

Not another goal-setting episode! Oh yes, this overdone topic is back for another round. However, it's coming back with a twist.
Rather than focusing on big goals that only end up leaving you feeling overwhelmed and exhausted we are exploring the concept of micro-goals.
Too often people focus on giant leaps in their personal development when in reality it's the little steps adding up that make the world of difference.
If you want to make big changes in your life, but you want to do it sustainably and one step at a time - then this is the episode for you.

And just like that, we have our first requested topic of the season!
One of our avid listeners has reached out to us and asked us to explore "victim vs victor mentality" on the show.
If you've been learning about personal development for a while you've likely heard about these concepts before however you may not know how to implement them in a healthy way.
That is exactly why we are going to explore the healthy expression of victim vs victors mentality in today's episode of BU with Declan Edwards

What an honour it is to be joined for our first interview of Season 5 by the one and only Ami Rankin.
Ami is our Head of Coaching & Development at BU. She is also a podcaster, Coach and mother.
You may have heard me interview Ami before on this show a couple of seasons ago. I asked her back because since then her personal development and growth journey has only been accelerated and magnified by becoming a mom.
In this interview, Ami gets open, honest and real about the challenges and identity shifts that come with working on yourself. She also shares how the wellbeing tools she has been developing for the past 4 years are all helping her to navigate this new chapter of parenthood.

Have you ever felt like you're playing a role in life? Feel like you're disconnected from your true self?
If so, you're not alone. A lot of people unfortunately get stuck in the cycle of being a human chameleon. They go through life being what everyone else wants them to be instead of being authentic to themselves. Eventually, they're not even sure who they are anymore.
This is precisely what led me to start my own Coaching journey back in 2012. In this episode of the show I share how I began to reconnect with myself, how I started putting down the masks I was wearing, and how I learned how to live a more authentic life.

Welcome back one and all to Season 5 of the show!
What a way to kick it off this season! Today we are talking about the green light theory. This is the exact strategy that I use to overcome overthinking and analysis paralysis. It's also a perfect strategy to help you make better decisions in life.
Sometimes people think I'm kidding when I say that this technique is what led me to get married, start BU and move into a tiny home; but I'm 100% serious.
So if you want to learn how to get out of your head and follow your gut instinct then this is the perfect episode (and challenge) for you!

Buckle up because this episode is a bit of a truth bomb.
Your happiness is no one's responsibility but your own.
Too often I see people falling into the trap of gambling their happiness on someone, or something, else and then blaming them when they're not happy.
Your job won't 'make' you happy, your relationships won't make you happy, more money won't 'make' you happy. All of these things can help to contribute to your happiness but at the end of the day, your happiness is your responsibility.
This doesn't mean that you can't ask for help. It means that you're OK with taking the pilot's seat in your happiness journey.
If you feel like a co-pilot, or a bystander, when it comes to your own happiness in life. This is the episode for you

In this special episode of the show, I wanted to be raw, real and honest with you all. Despite having an amazing year with the show expanding into 13 countries and experiencing a 70% growth in listeners I've been feeling disconnected from the show for a few months now.
This is why there hasn't been a new episode for over a month and it's also why I've decided to let go of the show for the time being and take a step back. It takes a lot of effort, time and energy to make this show a reality and lately it's felt more like an obligation than a joy.
When I sat with this decision I realised it was a green light move (equally scary and exciting) for me to let go.
However, this isn't goodbye forever. My intention at this point in time is to take the next few months to reconnect with why I started a podcast in the first place. In that time I'll be exploring the key messages and themes I want to bring back to the show as well as lining up some incredible guests.
I'll also be developing a brand new show 'Working Well with Declan Edwards' to complement BU with Declan Edwards. Where BU with Declan Edwards will continue to focus on personal development and wellbeing, our new show 'Working Well with Declan Edwards' will focus on workplace wellbeing and what it takes to create a culture of thriving and happiness at work.
Season 4 of BU with Declan Edwards and Season 1 of Working Well with Declan Edwards are both going to be launch in late March 2021.
In the meantime please feel free to catch up on any episodes of the show that you've missed or to connect with me personally on Facebook and Instagram (@declanedwards_bu) as I'll be utilising these platforms to continue growing global wellbeing, one mind at a time.
Until next year, thank you for being a part of this journey and listening to the show.

For a practice that's been around for literally, thousands of years meditation seems to be getting another big 'heyday' in the 21st Century. Everywhere you turn people seem to recommend meditation as a practice to improve your physical and mental wellbeing. There are countless meditation apps and programs popping up left, right and centre. Meditation as a whole has really taken the world by storm.
But what happens if you just don't like meditation? If you've tried it and you can't stand it?
In this episode, we dive into how people can begin meditating if they hate meditation. We provide some handy tips about making meditation fit your life rather than the other way round. And we reveal two of the most valuable mindset shifts someone can make if they want to start enjoying meditation.

What do you do when you're married, in a well paying job, ticking all of the boxes of a 'successful' life and yet you're deeply unfulfilled? How do you know when it's time to let go of something to create space for a new life? How do you even begin that journey of self development and creating a life that aligns with you on a deeply personal level?
For this episode's special guest, Jeni Steep, this was the reality she was faced with. Episode 1 of Jeni's Personal Development and Wellbeing journey found her feeling directionless, purposeless and unhappy in life. Fast forward by 4 years and Jeni is now in a happy relationship, running an incredible business and is truly thriving and fulfilling her potential.
So how did she do it? Tune into the episode to find out.

Welcome back to another episode of BU with Declan Edwards. In this 15 minute mindset episode we're actually going to do 2 parts because there's no way we can fit all the juicy goodness into one episode (you may have noticed that this episode is slightly over the 15 minute mark).
To kickstart this 2 part special we are diving into the 7 common thinking patterns that will hold you back from happiness. These are thoughts that we've personally experienced in our journeys here at BU as well as thoughts that we regularly see our members struggle with at the start of their personal development and wellbeing journeys.
For each thought pattern we explore what the thought is, why it's an issue and, most importantly, how you can begin to overcome it and take a step forward in your wellbeing.

This is, without a doubt, one of our favourite episodes of the BU with Declan Edwards podcast.
Where do we even start when it comes to the incredible Dr Hayley Watson:
Hayley is a TedX speaker, mental health expert and pioneer in making mental wellbeing proactive and relatable. Her work has seen her positively impact lives in multiple countries around the world and help shape the future of how schools approach the mental and emotional wellbeing of their students.
At a young age, Hayley and her family were the victims of a string of bombing attacks - a crime that still has not been solved to this day.
The subsequent trauma and recovery process led Hayley to become particularly passionate about trauma recovery, mental health and emotional wellbeing in children and teenagers.
Throughout this episode, Hayley speaks candidly about her past, opens up about her approach to psychology and shares some exciting visions for the future of mental health on a global scale.
Out of all the episodes we've done this is the one that Declan was most starstruck for!

In the final episode of Season 2 I had the honour and privilege to sit down with one of our Freshman Year members, Ayrton Lowther, and have an upfront and honest conversation about his Personal Development & Wellbeing journey.
Ayrton's story is a testament to what can happen when you commit to investing in yourself and commit to getting outside of your comfort zone. His achievements throughout the program thus far are a credit to his dedication and discipline.
As his Coach I couldn't be more proud to have Ayrton on the show for the final episode of Season 2.

"Resentment and anger are our ways of punishing ourselves for somebody else's mistakes"
When I first hear that statement it hit home for me. How often in life do we fall into the trap of holding judgment and resentment towards ourselves or towards other people when at the end of the day all this does is hurt us and reduce our ability to move forward in our life?
In this episode I'm diving into the art of forgiveness and sharing how you can begin to develop a healthy relationship with forgiveness in order to free yourself from the past.

Welcome back to the Wizards of Wellbeing mini-series on the BU with Declan Edwards Podcast. In this mini-series we interview and connect with experts who we feel are making magic in people's lives.
On this week's episode of the show we are joined by our good friend, Scott Bidmead.
Scott is an entrepreneur, a media personality and a passionate advocate for all things wellbeing and flourishing.
In his past, Scott has been the presenter on numerous TV programs, has interviewed celebrities such as Morgan Freeman and Jason Momoa, and has grown a successful PR and Media Company.
In this interview though we are stripping back the glitz and glamour to focus more on Scott's personal story. In this interview, we dive into some of the changes he has made over the past couple of years as a result of reconnecting with his vision and sense of purpose. We also discuss concepts such as:
If you're feeling a bit disconnected from what matters to you in life, if you've been told that you should chase your dreams but you're unsure what you should be dreaming about in the first place - this is the episode for you.

So you want to be more self confident? Want to improve your self esteem? Want to maximise your ability to trust yourself?
These are common Personal Development & Wellbeing goals but a lot of people miss the first fundamental step and that's why it all comes undone.
See, it's impossible to be confident in someone you don't know.
It's hard to trust someone you don't understand.
And this is gap for most people - they don't truly know themselves.
In this episode I reveal why you need to start putting down the masks and connecting deeply with yourself if you ever want to experience authentic and deep self confidence.

We cannot believe it's taken this long for us to finally have Ami Rankin on the show.
You may already know Ami from instagram (@ami_rankin), from her own podcast (Nourishing Ami) or from the fact that she is our incredible Head of Coaching & Development here at BU.
Ami writes and runs half of our Personal Development & Wellbeing Accelerator program and has been making such a profound positive impact on people's lives since she came on board with BU way back in 2017.
But what you may know is that; true to BU's vision of "making an impact, starting with self", Ami's Personal Development & Wellbeing journey started with her being a member of BU.
In this episode Ami opens up about:
the tipping point that led her to start her Personal Development & Wellbeing journey
how her habit of repression was just leading to more anxiety and overwhelm
and how she navigated, and continues to navigate, identity shifts caused by huge changes in her life.
This is an episode not to be missed, I couldn't think of a better episode to finish Season 1 of 2020 on.

On the season FINALE of 15 Minute Mindset on the BU with Declan Edwards podcast we are talking about MINIMALISM.
If you're unfamiliar with minimalism it's essentially a movement and approach to life that focuses on having less material possessions and only keeping things that add value to your life.
Having recently taken a more minimalist approach to living I'm excited to share that this week's episode is the first episode I'm recording in our new studio home that my wife and I moved into as a way of decluttering our lives and creating more freedom for ourselves.
If you find that you tend to be bogged down by 'stuff' and that you're living a cluttered and busy life then this is definitely a great episode to listen to.

With all the uncertainty and changes happening in the world at the moment one thing is becoming increasingly clear; it's damn challenging to work from home.

Welcome to The Insider Scoop - the series where I sit down with people just like you and ask them to share stories from their Personal Development & Wellbeing Journey.
On this episode of the show I'm joined by BU graduate, Ash Murrell.
Ash and I first connected in 2018 and clicked straight away over a shared drive to help people live happier lives. What I could see early on though was that Ash had been so busy looking after everyone else she had forgotten to prioritise herself.
Ash took her first steps and ended up completing one of our coaching programs with our Head of Coaching & Development, Ami Rankin.
Now Ash is truly thriving in life and is making an impact, starting with herself.
In this show we discuss:
How it's easy for a helper to lose themselves in relationships
The concept of green lights in life (how to identify them and take action on them)
The best & worst wellbeing advice Ash has ever heard
And much more.

Ami Assigal is many things. A business owner, a mother, a leader and a changemaker.
But after so long juggling so many roles, and wrestling with a high achiever drive, Ami found herself at a place where she no longer knew who she was, what she wanted or what would fulfil her.
She was stressed, anxious and permanently hustling for her worth - never taking the time to slow down and appreciate herself or her life.
This is how we first connected with Ami in mid-2019 when she joined the BU movement as part of our Personal Development & Wellbeing Mastery Program.
Nowadays Ami is proud of who she is, is ok with slowing down and has a much healthier relationship with her emotional wellbeing. The best part is Ami is still kicking massive goals and achieving great things in her life but now she is doing so from a place of fulfilment and self-love.
On this debut episode of The Insider Scoop series, I sit down with Ami for the first time in person to find out more about the journey from her own perspective and to dive into how Ami is making an impact, starting with herself.
In this episode we talk about:
Ami's changing relationship with the concept of failure
How Ami developing herself has helped her positively impact the lives of her children, her clients and those around her
An incredibly exciting opportunity that has arisen for Ami to positively change lives in another country.

What a way to bring this special series of archive interviews to a close. On the 4th and final special archive episode of the show I am so grateful to say that we have Sebastian Terry. If you don't yet know Sebastian allow me to run through the dot points of some of his accomplishments below:
Founder of 100 Things and of Kindsum
International Keynote Speaker
His talks have been shared by the likes of GoalCast, Jay Shetty and Kerwin Rae
Published Author
And, on a personal note, Sebastian is the man who I consider to be my first informal Coach/mentor and who played a huge role in helping me become the man I am today.
In this interview, Seb shares the story that started with a bucketlist and somehow wound up with him doing things such as getting married in Vegas, delivering a baby, helping a man complete his first marathon and inspiring people globally to live a life of meaning, purpose and contribution.
To connect more with Seb check out his movement Kindsum via the link below

Australia we need to talk!
Did you know that over 50% of Australians are stressed about money?!
In fact, money is now one of the biggest causes of stress in the country!
To make matters worse up to 38% of Australian households are spending more than they earn and up to 86% of Australians don't know how much their monthly budget is.
In a first-world country this shouldn't be the case.
Joining me on the podcast today is a good friend of mine, Phil Usher from The Cheeky Investor.
In this episode, we dive into how money and wellbeing are linked, why we need to change the conversation around money and of course how you can begin putting yourself in a better position financially.

This week's episode of the show is incredibly exciting to me for two reasons
Our guest is not only an Alumni member of BU who I am privileged enough to personally Coach
She is also someone who takes what she learns from her own Personal Development and now uses it to help others.
Britt Barlow is many things but one thing that stands out consistently to me is her desire to help people live happier and healthier lives.
In this episode, Britt goes deep into how anxiety was a massive part of her life for 15 years and she shares how she hopes the approaches to anxiety and wellbeing as a whole will change.
Britt also shares the one message she wishes every single woman on the planet could embody (and it's powerful!).

We're often asked at BU what the difference is between psychology, psychotherapy, counselling and coaching are.
Our belief is that each approach serves people differently depending on where they're at in their wellbeing and personal development journey. They all have value and the key is to ensure the right approach is used with the right people at the right time.
This is a key component of Stacey Clarke's story.
When Stacey first connected with BU she had already been doing amazing work with a counsellor for years. However, she was reaching the point where she felt counselling was no longer helping her grow and began to think that maybe it was no longer the best approach for her.
Since then Stacey has completed our 6 month Confidence & Purpose Coaching program, enrolled in our Alumni Program and is now completing her 12 month Impact & Leadership Coaching program to learn how to make a positive impact in the lives of those around her.
Over that time Stacey has grown in leaps and bounds but has also definitely faced her fair share of hurdles and obstacles.
If you're someone who is unsure of what approach will most serve you when it comes to your wellbeing and personal development journey then make sure you check this episode out.

So here’s the thing
Lately I’ve been experiencing episodes of Imposter Syndrome.
If you’re not familiar with Imposter Syndrome it’s a collection of feelings of self doubt and thoughts of inadequacy in spite of any accomplishments you’ve already made.
So as part of my own personal development and wellbeing journey I’ve been diving into developing a better understanding of Imposter Syndrome and learning about how to overcome it.
What I found out during this research is that up to 70% of people will experience episodes of Imposter Syndrome at some point in their lives!!!

Personal development can often be glorified by social media.
The truth is it's not always upbeat seminars, exciting podcasts and an abundance of unicorns.
Personal development is often damn hard work.
Nobody knows that more than this week's guest, Dainis Purins.
Over the past few years, Dainis has been on a personal development journey that saw him lose everything that he hinged his self-worth on. As a result, he was forced to rediscover, and rebuild himself from the core.
I'm fortunate enough to call Dainis a personal friend, mentor and previous client of mine. I speak from the heart when I say that this man's story of personal growth is an absolute inspiration and one not to be missed.
If you've ever thought personal development was easy, or you've found yourself stuck in the growing pains that come with personal development then definitely check this episode out.

I'm going to be honest with you guys.
In the past few months I came close to burnout. I was regularly feeling stressed, overwhelmed and exhausted.
Then life threw a couple of curveballs that could've derailed everything. But instead I saw these as blessings in disguise.
Over the past few months I've come to deeply appreciate the saying that sometimes less is more.

If you feel overwhelmed, stressed or exhausted regularly.
And if you just want to feel like there's more time in your day than this is definitely the episode for you.
Join me as I share the perspective changes and practices that helped me regain my day and achieve more by doing less.

Not going to lie, this was an incredibly special episode for me to record. For two reasons:
Because it's my 26th birthday and I had the opportunity to reflect on my life thus far
Because I get real raw, deep and honest in this episode. I almost cry at the end. Yeah, it's that legit.
In this week's episode, I'm sharing the top 26 life lessons I've come to learn over the past 26 years.
I open up about my past, my beliefs, my relationships and why I'm so grateful to be living the life I am.
I also share why I know with 100% certainty that it is essential for other people to hear these lessons and apply them in their own life as well.
Tune in now to hear the biggest takeaways I've had throughout my life thus far and gain an insight into some ways that you can make an impact, start with self and most importantly.... be you!

Rather than focus on comparison, aesthetics and competition Chloe helped people focus on moving for their mind.

There are times in life when you get a chance to connect with people who just get it. They are on your wavelength, they share a similar vision and their passions align with yours.
This was the case for me when I interviewed Blake Worrall-Thompson.
Blake is an ex-fitness industry professional who fell in love with personal development and mindset. As a result of this shift in focus he took the leap of faith to leave behind everything he had spent years building and begin anew with a reignited desire to help people.
His story, and the knowledge he shares in this episode, is applicable to anyone who is stuck making a decision that lies between their head and their heart
This is definitely one of my personal favourite interviews yet.

One of the biggest myths I hear about myself is that I’ve “got all my shit together”.
Because I’ve been involved in the personal development and coaching space since 2011 people assume that I mustn’t have struggles anymore
This couldn’t be farther from the truth
Here’s the thing about personal development. There’s struggle involved. It hurts. It takes effort. And sometimes I want to give up
That’s why I still get coached. Knowing I have someone in my corner who can shine light on my blind spots, who can guide me when I’m lost and pick me up when I’m down is one of the most valuable things I know of
In this week’s episode I reflect on a recent coaching session I had with BU’s COO and Co-Founder Jordan.

That’s a lot of time for your career to really positively contribute to your sense of purpose, fulfilment and wellbeing - or to detract from these.
