The La Palmosa Ranch in Mexico is conservation success story. Ty sits down with Rene Hernandez who shares the history of the ranch along with how the desert bighorn sheep went from being extirpated to thriving in the area. Heather and Justin Wise also join the conservation. Heather was lucky enough to win a hunt on La Palmosa through the Wild Sheep Foundation. Check out our previous episode to hear how to hunt went.
Heather Wise won the desert sheep hunt donated to the Wild Sheep Foundation by La Palmosa Ranch. WSF gave away the hunt at their life member breakfast in 2018. The kicker to this giveaway is you have to be present to win. Heather, being the trooper she is, made the breakfast still three sheets to the wind from the night before. When they drew her name she wasn't able to hide her condition and stumbled on stage to accept the prize. Listen how this hunt went!

Courtney LeVesque and Steven Dahn from Elevation Fitness Training sat down with us at The Northwest Mountain Challenge at Hoodoo ski resort. Courtney and Steven are both Certified Personal Trainers. They are both very active in the hunting community and have started an online Personal Training business called Elevation Fitness Training. Whether you want to train at home or the gym, they will design a custom program based on your needs to help you achieve your goals! In the past year Courtney underwent 4 major surgeries, one of which being shoulder surgery. As an avid hunter and a dedicated archer, she breaks down what it took for her recovery and how she worked around her injuries to remain active in what she loves. With one arm in a sling she picked up a bow and decided to shoot with a mouth tab. Throughout her drive and persistence she became very accurate out past 40 yards. Courtney's success with her mouth tab inspired Josh to pick up a left handed bow and give it a shot! Listen as she gives Josh tips and pointers on everything from how to set the bow up, to form and shot sequence! At the 2018 BHA Rendezvous, Rex Wolferman and Josh got the opportunity to square up with Jack Lander of Golden Roosie Outdoors. Jack Lander is an avid and successful archery hunter. He's also a boots to the ground conservationist. Jack is a board member for Backcountry Hunters and Anglers. Last year Jack had the best hunting season of his life. He harvested his largest Roosevelt bull and his largest Blacktail buck to date. In this podcast Jack breaks down some of his style and technique on hunting these Roosies, as we like to call them. This is the first ever live podcast event Shoot'n The Bull has recorded. We recorded this episode at the 2018 BHA Rendezvous in front of a live audience. Following our last podcast with Chris Parish on lead ammunition and the toll it is taking on our Peregrine Falcon, we wanted to learn more about non-lead ammunition and its performance. We found Russell Kuhlman, a new hire at BHA. Russell is currently the California and Nevada Chapter Coordinator. He has quite an extensive background in firearms and ammunition and even has a degree in Wildlife Biology. Prior to his newly acquired position with BHA, he was the California Non-lead Outreach Coordinator. There he shot and tested the performance of various lead and non-lead ammunition into ballistic gel and jugs of water. He shot everything from pistol, rifle, shotgun and even muzzleloader ammunition. He was also a Skeet and Trap Coordinator at a local gun range. In this episode Russell shares his research and spreads a wealth of knowledge on how different non-lead ammunition types perform. It was shocking to find out just how well some of these no-lead ammo's perform at long ranges! So if your curious on how this no-lead ammo performs and where you can get your hands on it, give this episode a listen!

Chris Parish is a wildlife biologist and the Director of Global Conservation for The Peregrine Fund. Chris is a mountain of a man, ex college football player and a redneck. An elite group of men faced treacherous conditions deep in the Alaskan Wilderness that most would consider a situation of survival. The Seacat Creative crew was on a film project with Backcountry Hunters and Anglers. They were on a multi day float trip through a wilderness in Alaska when they received an alarming call that one of the crew members was having a baby in an emergency situation. They needed to get him out of the wilderness as soon as possible so he could witness the birth of his first child. As planes couldn't land to pick them up, their only option was to float their way out through the worst of weather conditions. At the 2018 Western Hunting Expo we sat down and caught up with our good friend Braxton McCoy. The prior year at the Hunt Expo we interviewed Braxton on episode 21. On that episode we introduced Braxton and he told his amazing story of recovery and talked about a book he was writing. Braxton has now published his book The Glass Factory. Sitting down with Adam Weatherby of Weatherby Firearms at the Western Hunting Expo we learned about 73 years of family craftsmanship. Weatherby is currently moving their family business from California to Wyoming. Adam explains why they're moving after 73 years but most importantly why the move is emotionally tough. In 2016 Weatherby released the 6.5-300 Weatherby Mag caliber and we wanted to get the low down on that "hot rod" as Adam refers. We shared some great hunting stories and we all shared our insight and support for conservation.

Ryan Callaghan, best known for his mustache is also a veteran hunter who see's more success in the field than he does on the dating scene. Conservation & public relations director for First Lite, Ryan has been a conservation warrior for many years. Ryan shares his Montana elk hunt where he and his hunting partner packed some heavy loads of the glorious protein to top off an already full freezer. We also got to hear about a Montana deer hunt where they did not.
Cal, as we affectionately call him, also shares with us his B.C. Moose hunt from last year with Arron Snyder, if you listen closely you can hear the circus music playing in the background. A few stories Josh and Ty can relate to all to well. Hunts rarely go exactly as planned and in most cases they are far from comfortable. As they say in B.C. - its a Shmozzle and we love it!

Braxton is an active BHA chapter member and his love and passion for the outdoors fuels his fire to fight for our public lands. 2017 Smacked us right in the face, didn't see that coming!!! And so the struggle to plan out the next year begins. The struggle is real as Ty and Josh and Hunter navigate the frigid December waters of Montana in search of waterfowl, whitetail and keeping the canoe upright with two men a girl and the new hunting partner, Abby the bearded lady.
