This sermon is based off of Philippians 4:10-14
"I rejoice in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me; you were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity. Not that I complain of want; for I have learned, in whatever state I am, to be content. I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound; in any and all circumstances, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and want. Paul Robinson blessed our church by visiting us once again. He taught a good word about the power of our words and how they affect others, ourselves, and our relationship with God.
Our very own Mike Peterson steps in to preach. Members of Epiphany Covenant Church have enjoyed his short sermonettes and nuggets of wisdom over the years. This Sunday, we had the chance to hear a full sermon from our friend and brother.
Pastor Kevin goes into Gen 47 as we look at how God used Joseph to provide for Egypt during the famine.
Our exploration of the life and family of Joseph continues when Joseph reveals himself to his brothers and his father, Jacob, sees some good news. Pastor Kevin asks the question, why do we only rejoice once we've seen the provision? We are called to believe that God will provide before we see the provision.

God uses Joseph to provide for the people of Egypt during a terrible drought. How is this similar to the miracle of the Loaves and Fishes? What can we learn about recognizing God's provision and not confusing it with out own?

At this point in our series on the Life of Joseph, we find Joseph wrongfully imprisoned. Pastor Kevin, found it fitting that we arrived at this point in Joseph's story in time for MLK Jr. Day. Dr. King also found himself imprisoned a variety of times. On one particular occasion, King wrote a powerful letter to the Clergymen of Alabama, who did not approve of his methods. Today, we honored King's memory by listening to an audio recording of Letter from a Birmingham Jail. His message to the clergymen in 1963 still contains important and convicting messages to the Church today.

This week Pastor Roger Ross continues the Living Well series with his sermon, A Change is Going to Come (Mark 9).
2 Corinthians 4:1-12
Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart. Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God. And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.

Closing passage Hebrews 4 14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

How long, Lord, must I call for help, but you do not listen? Or cry out to you, “Violence!” but you do not save? Why do you make me look at injustice? Why do you tolerate wrongdoing? Destruction and violence are before me; there is strife, and conflict abounds. Therefore the law is paralyzed, and justice never prevails. The wicked hem in the righteous, so that justice is perverted.
