The Entheogenic Evolution: Recent Episodes

Martin W. Ball

Welcome to the Entheogenic Evolution Podcast, hosted by author Martin W. Ball, Ph.D. This podcast is dedicated to the discussion of the nondual and unitary nature of being as revealed by conscious entheogenic energetic awakening as well as broad topics in psychedelics, therapy, philosophy, science, and culture. Featuring interviews, lectures, and conversations with leading figures in psychedelic research and culture, this podcast is a pioneering source of diverse information and perspectives. The Entheogenic Evolution Podcast is one of the longest running podcasts on psychedelics, having been first established in 2008, and has been a leading source of information about 5-MeO-DMT. In addition to interviews and talks, host, Martin Ball, also shares selections from his many audiobooks, recordings from events and conferences he's organized, and shares his own original music at the conclusion of each episode and his original art for cover images.

Here's chapter 2 from the audiobook of Facilitating 5-MeO-DMTwith the submission from my good friend Hal Lucious Nation of the Temple of Awakening Divinity (T.O.A.D.). As this is where I started with 5-MeO-DMT, being first served in the Temple back in 2008, it felt like the right place to start off the anthology and provides details of a highly ritualized and formal approach to serving "The God Molecule." The full audiobook is available at Amazon, Audible, and the iBookstore. More chapters to come between interviews!

Approximately 2.5 years ago, completely out of the blue, Psymposia came along and weaponized a then-five-year-old video of one of my public talks and through blatant distortion and radical decontextualization, launched an abusive campaign against me. Despite engaging in clearly unethical journalism, Psymposia's labeling of me as an "abuser" has been widely accepted, promoted, and complacently repeated throughout much of the psychedelic world. Their smear campaign has been very successful in getting me "cancelled," with a few notable exceptions. Because I'm continually coming up against the wall of exclusion that Psymposia created, I'm revisiting the issue here on the only real platform I have - my podcast. In this episode, I discuss what things were like before Psymposia, what Psymposia did and why it's unarguably unethical journalistic abuse, how I've been personally and professionally harmed and blacklisted, and issue a re-exploration of the context that Psymposia purposefully neglected. Ultimately, this is my request to have my case reconsidered by the public, hold Psymposia accountable for their abuses, and to encourage supporters to push back against the narrative they've created about me, my work, and who I am as a human being. Thank you for listening.

Two of the founders (and newly married couple) of the Church of Psilomethoxin, Greg and Jenna Lake, are my guests this week. We discuss the formation of the new entheogenic church whose sacrament is an edible form of 5-MeO-DMT, "psilomethoxin," which is produced by introducing 5-MeO-DMT to psilocybin mushrooms, which then go on to produce 4-OH-5-MeO-DMT rather than psilocybin and psilocyn for a true merging of science and religion. A decade ago the spiritual left and wide swaths of the psychedelic community sincerely believed that the end of the year 2012 would usher in the "end of history" and the "transcendental object at the end of time," and, needless to say, nothing of the sort happened as it was all utter BS to begin with. From the audiobook of The Entheological Paradigm, here are two essays I wrote at the time calling out the nonsense. Given contemporary trends around "conspirituality," I guess the lessons haven't been learned.

At the request of LAMPS, I've been sitting on this interview since April 11 when I had a 3-way conversation with Brad Adams (LAMPS founder) and Paul Lisy (videographer). We discuss the original video that Psymposia doctored into a hit-piece, their interest in my methodologies of working with clients, the unsuccessful attempt to make a film about it, what they thought of the whole manufactured outrage created by Psymposia, and why, based on their bad-faith actions, the proposed panel with them was cancelled. This is all coming a bit late in the game, as the desire was to have this come out after the LAMPSS event in LA the other week (which is referenced in the interview as upcoming).
