We tend to sin in ways that are blatant and obvious or in ways that are more discreet and not as noticeable. But both are sin. This message looks at the 2 caves David found himself in & encourages us to turn away from sin!
4 Significant areas we have to learn to exist in as we are waiting for and working toward the good part + 1 Samuel 18.
David & Goliath - If we are going to be Christ-like, we have to be able to see things the way He sees them!
An introduction into the series, David.
David’s life is full of high highs and low lows.
He is one who is extremely likable but also one who is far from perfect.
His story reminds us that God is always the hero of our lives. Will we allow Him to speak to us?!
Are you the accuser or an accused?
Jesus wanted to lead the accused and the accusers to repentance.
We reserve God for the gaps - the places we need God to come in and fill
When there is: Pain we ask God to fill this gap with peace , doubt - direction, rejection - restoration, weakness - strength
The moment we don’t have a need for God, we no longer NEED God.
We can’t confuse the callings and the promises of God for just another phase.
This message looks at 2 points on how to examine and expect the Promises of God & not just live life with God as a phase.
A back-to-school message & challenge for all of us.
Kids- obey your father and mother and it will go well for you!
Parents- train up your kids in the way they should go so that when they are older, they will not depart from it.
We are so used to having tension that we don’t know what peace is TRULY like. We must depend on our Prince of Peace to provide what we can't find in the tensions of this world & life!
In this messy world we have to put our hope somewhere. Jesus is our only hope. A look at the third time Jesus interrupts history.
⚠️ warning: the scripture says half weren’t ready.
Do it today, get ready, stay ready.
🙏Help us Lord to choose you every single day - to choose to be ready.

Because he lives… the invitation is still valid. Because he lives… our relationship with God is still secure. BECAUSE HE LIVES!!!
Death tried to break the Covenant… that Jesus invited us into. But because He lives that Covenant is still in place.

The FREE GIFT is something we can't take for granted.
This is core & essential, we will fight for this as a church!
We can’t keep the “free” separate from “surrender”
We need both of them as followers of Jesus

⚠️The world will invite you to leave God.
But choose today whom you will follow
🗺️ God says, I have a specific design for you, for your family, your spouse, your finances, your life… God is asking that they live within the bounties of the promised land.
When it comes to the promises of God, close enough is not a winning strategy.
Audacious means 2 distinct things: rude or disrespectful // showing a willingness to take a surprisingly BOLD RISK. Our world needs an audacious church...one that is willing to take bold risks.

In a crowd there are various stages of life/ spiritual walks people are in.
4 areas that the seeds fell
🌱hard soil - hard hearts, the Word of God doesn’t penetrate… easy to see the anger, frustration
🌱rocky & shallow soil - some visible growth but not real growth
🌱soil full of weeds - a distracted heart, a busy heart,
🌱good soil - producing fruit that leads to eternal value
🔥The seed represents the Word of God
When you are around hard soil people keep talking about Jesus
We often don’t want people to think about us like they think about God.
This culture will not choose God for you.
We can’t grow the seed, only God can do that. But we can change the soil.
Too easily, we become slaves to the things that bring temporary fulfillment, but God hates temporary fulfillment! He didn’t send his son to die for temporary fulfillment.
God doesn’t just want us to experience Him, He wants us to be changed by Him and be moved to action!

📖Acts 7:20-34 - Moses
Vs. 22 and Moses was instructed in all the wisdom do the Egyptians, and he was mighty in his words and deeds.

God never confirms Moses is a clumsy speaker (He gets mad at Moses for saying that)
Just because someone says something about himself in fear and doubt doesn’t necessarily mean it’s true
WE CAN’T MISTAKE EXCUSES FOR TRUTH
🚨⭐️With the closet we think God is going to go in and pull out all the skeletons…expose them BUT it is the gifts of the anointing, the call of God that you have hurried in the closet are the indicator of a lukewarm faith
🎁WHY ARE THESE GIFTS COLLECTING DUST?!
Dealing with the lukewarm is extremely difficult… it’s hard
1️⃣ TIME ⏰ Romans 11:29, it was given such a long time ago…
2️⃣ OPPORTUNITY - you never got the chance so you quit trying
3️⃣ FAILURE - you have convinced yourself that because you failed you are a failure.
4️⃣ FEAR - the call feels bigger than anything you can bear
Lukewarm = not honoring Jesus with the talents/ gifts he has given to you. What are you doing?
Let’s never be ok with lukewarm
Fear has many forms
We allow fear to dictate what we do, how we act, lead…
For the sake of our freedom, fear has to fall.
🔦Because what darkness conceals, light
reveals 🔦
📖1 Samuel 17:11, 26
⭐️David weighed what he heard against what he knew - his faith in the Lord was greater than his fear.
💡No matter how dark it is, light gives way to sight💡
🚨The dark things in the basement no longer have power because they are reduced to nothing when the light comes in… fear has no power.

Our responses to Jesus should include worship and repentance.

The Right Table often has the "wrong" people. In the last part of The Table series, Pastor Chris talks about how people want to be important & how we can play a role in that.
You can not function if you can not forgive! This powerful message pushes us to live a life of FORGIVENESS because we have been radically forgiven. Pastor Chris walks through what forgiveness is and what it is not. Get ready to begin forgiving!
There is NO POWER in pretending BUT POWER in PRAYER! The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power & produces wonderful results. - John 13:16b Challenge this week: pray for 3 people for 30 days.
THANKFUL and THANK YOU are not the same thing, there is separation. Don't allow yourself to believe that you can do everything on your own. Be humble & say thank you! Pastor Chris shares in week 2 of The Table, the things that Thank You requires and does.
The Table is a place to belong. The world isn't going to be moved by the church or impressed by believers when we try to show love for those far from God but treat the family of God like garbage. Pastor Chris expands on these statements and on what happened around the table with Jesus in John 13.
Noah's Architect - Pastor Dillon walks through the story of Noah & shows us how to live a "But Noah" (Genesis 6:8) life. Main points: Walk with the Lord + Follow the Lord's Instructions - We are called to be "But Noah" people.
When things got hard for the Israelites in the desert, they turned to grumbling and complaining, longing for the "safe haven" back in Egypt. Thankfully, their story shows us that even in our “going back” and “grumbling," God gives us grace!
The story of Jonah proves that when we run… God pursues. When we sleep… God awakens. And when we sink… God’s mercy consumes.
God asked Gideon to do some very brave things. God just nudged him along to one step of obedience after another, after another. And sure there might have been a few adjectives in front of the obedience… nervous - cautious - covert - but it was OBEDIENCE that ultimately brought him success.
We love to tell the stories of the victories and the miraculous and the walls that come tumbling down in our lives. But we often overlook the march that preceded the miracle. Keep your eyes on Jesus and stop worrying so much about the wall. It will come down, but until it does...Keep Marching!
Paul has mentioned several different areas that are keys in the life of the believer… these are foundational… they come standard. Sometimes the things that come standard need to be serviced. Just because it comes standard doesn’t mean that you never need to give it any attention. Just because it is foundational doesn’t mean that you don’t ever have to work on it. We'll discover what those things are in the life of a believer and what we can do to keep running!
Eleazar, one of David's three mighty warriors, knew what it took to be Godly man, ready for battle! If we, as men, want to embrace our divine purpose, we have to ready our sword, stand our ground and keep swinging!
Waiting on the Lord increases the value and the blessing of our relationship with Him. Unfortunately, none of us like to wait. But as we look through this repetitive theme through the book of Psalms, we will begin to learn how to wait effectively.
When we look at the world that we live in today, there are some things that seem impossible. Dead things that we think could never be raised to life. Dry bones that could never possibly take their original form again. But then God asks, "Can these bones live?" When God asks a question like that, usually it's because He's about to do something! So what dry bones will you expect God to raise again?
Looking at this Psalm from David, we get the sense that he was in awe of his Good Shepherd. As we dive into it, we'll find multiple reasons why we should live amazed by the God who guides us and gives His life for us.
As followers of Christ, we need to understand that when the first follower diverts from the intended path… the following followers follow. In Psalm 101, David lays out four principles to help us follow well.
Whatever stage you are in… we can say with confidence the same thing that David said in Psalm 62, "Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us."
If you are a Martha, be a Martha that loves Jesus. If you are a Mary, be a Mary that loves Jesus. Moms, don’t worry about what everyone else is or isn’t doing.
When a person finds Jesus, they begin to think differently… talk differently… act differently… interact with people differently. When a person finds the treasure, everything changes!
God tells us we can live on one of two mountains: Gerizim (a blessing) or Ebal (a curse). Where are you going to live?
You are not weak, feeble, or frail. You were created in the image of God. You are capable of far more than you know But in all of your potential, you can not carry the weight of your sin. It will destroy you — unless and until you understand the power of the Cross.
If you are a follower of Jesus…stay! Stay till the end. Stay committed to his calling. Stay committed to his word. Stay!
The Lord desires that his house would be full so in his grace and mercy, he extended the circle. Do not let apathy and arrogance convince you that any response other than enthusiastic acceptance is acceptable to His invitation.
Paul faced shipwrecks and snakes. But God used these things to all start a revival on the tiny little distant island of Malta.
Some of us look at everything we can think of to provide hope, peace, fulfillment, identity, and everything else. For many of us, we are like the Pharisees… looking everywhere but to Jesus. It is time to Look Again!
The Lord isn’t looking for a bunch of Bubble Wrapped Believers who are only willing to sit on the sidelines of life.
The church and believers are there to love, support, pray for, and encourage you. Find a circle that will kneel in the sand with you.
We need to do what we can to stay awake. But more than that, we need the Holy Spirit to open our eyes!
There are times when it feels like as believers we are under attack. The mob has gathered — they are angry and aggressive. But don’t ever lose heart because Jesus is still in control.
Sometimes, as believers today, we play games. We pretend that we can operate in the authority of Jesus without having a relationship with Jesus.
In the middle of our difficulties, if we stay devoted to Jesus and what he is calling us to do this year, we will see Him do great things.
Paul, passing through Athens, was alarmed by the city full of idols. And Paul, in order to tell these people about Jesus, is looking for opportunities to connect with these people. He saw a statue to honor “an unknown god,” and he saw within it an opportunity to introduce Christ.
Satan is going to actively and aggressively oppose the Word of God. Without it, you are going to get pushed around… but when you examine the Word it will give you the power to push back!
The church in Philippi began with an unlikely trio. From the outside looking in, there is nothing that they had in common. Between a wealthy widow, a demon-possessed girl, and a blue-collar duty-bound man to the Roman empire, no one would have expected a church to blossom the way it did.
What do we do when Conflict Resolutions strategies don’t work? Because sometimes, no matter how hard we try, life doesn’t always end like a 30-minute episode of the Brady Bunch. So what do we do if the 30 minutes are up and I’m still mad at Marsha?
When we walk by the Spirit and don’t allow the division of the day to deter us from an UNdivided pursuit of Jesus, the effects will be eternal!
it feels like we are living in a world that is Designed to Distract. At every moment there is another distraction that is demanding our attention and pulling us away from our purpose. The only way that we can ever be effective for Jesus is if we learn to intentionally ignore the distractions and keep our hearts focused on Jesus.
The journey from Saul to Paul wasn’t instantaneous. He didn’t change from Saul (Christian killing Terrorist) to Paul (Church Planting… Scripture Writing… Kingdom Advancing… Super Star) in a single moment. There was a process.
Sometimes we get so frustrated that God isn’t moving in our situation. And the truth is God is still waiting for you to Tie Your Shoes!
In The Book of Acts, Chapter 10 is the final piece, it completes the picture of the church. And you are a significant piece of the church puzzle. Without you, the picture is missing something.
When we Act like Jesus, when we pray like Jesus, when we Serve like Jesus, when we Give like Jesus, when we have Faith like Jesus, we will begin to see the bedridden spring to their feet and we will begin to see the dead rise.
In Acts 8, Jesus sends Phillip to the desert road to pursue not just the masses, but the individual. Could you change the destiny of one?
Jesus is looking for ALL IN people, people who will purposefully walk the road to Samaria. But too many of us have settled for a cheap counterfeit.
Sometimes God will ask you to embrace the menial because he is positioning you for the miraculous.
Check your Circle: If you are in the World — be the Church! If you are in the Gathering — be the Church!
Barnabus didn’t just give, but obediently and sacrificially gave. On the other hand, Ananias and Sapphira used lies and deception. These two stories offer us both encouragement and a warning.
And as long as the church stays tied to the stake of prayerless we remain artificially bound. Like an elephant, with enormous power, held in place by a small rope.
When you step into the Promises of God, it will require strength and courage because the enemy always opposes the promises.
In the story of Acts 3, an interruption happened so that Peter and John could point people to Jesus. Then the investigation was answered so that people could see clearly the power of Jesus. Finally, the invitation was to flee from sin and toward Jesus.
In Acts 2:14 is Peter’s response to the question… “What does this mean?” on the day of Pentecost. Which in reality is the very first sermon preached in the Church.
Tension has the potential to force us back together. And tension has the potential to ignite a separation that can cause a lot of pain and suffering. But where there is tension there is potential.
The commission given to the believers in Acts 1 is the same commission given to the believers in 2021, to be an empowered witness of the Gospel of Jesus. And that is why He sent the Holy Spirit so that you would have the POWER to do all the things that Jesus asked his followers to do.
The beauty of the book of Acts is that the Holy Spirit was given some random ingredients and created something so amazing, it verges on perfection. If He can do that with the ingredients he was given in the early church, He is certainly capable of creating something amazing today!
Jesus said, “I will build my church and the gates of Hell will not prevail.” Then he extends an invitation for us to be a part of the work. God has a plan for you, God wants to use you. God speaks to you, God is calling you. God wants to work in you so he can work through you.
Sometimes life and people dish us out really scary circumstances that can drive people far from God. Every one of us has something to break free from, every one of us has things in our life that restrict us from living life the way God intended for us to live. But everyone has the potential to radically impact the kingdom of God, and that is why people far from God matter to God!
God wants our best… he deserves our best… so in all we do, we should strive for excellence. We should willingly give our best. And determine to live in a constant state of improvement. Excellence is giving the best of us to glorify a Magnificent God.
Even when we feel so unqualified and fall so short in so many areas, God still gives us a plan of life and hope for our future! We may think we’re disqualified and the world may think we’re disqualified, but God hasn’t counted you out yet. God will never count you out. In fact, He’s the master at using imperfect people for Big things!
We have to be willing to grow. No matter how much we know or how long we have been following. We often convince ourselves that we have arrived… we have come far enough… we are better than we used to be so we are fine to stop right here… but we can’t. God has more to reveal to us and do through us.
Our victory was bought with the blood of Jesus and guaranteed in the resurrection. Jesus was never outmatched… outmuscled… overwhelmed… overpowered… or caught off guard... in fact, the fight was fixed. Jesus allowed the Cross because he loves us!
God called on Jonah to rise up and reach the Assyrians of Ninevah to repent and turn to God for their wickedness and selfish living. But Jonah had no heart for the people of Nineveh. If people far from God matter to God, then they should matter to us to!
Fasting is giving up WHAT sustains us for WHO sustains us. When you fast for sin it implies a resolve to fast from it. It is a declaration that it will be fed no longer. When you do hard things, God begins to do impossible things.
God rarely asks us to do difficult things but sometimes compels us to do hard things. Often times the simple things can be the hardest to do. In our relationship with God it is easy to get ready… but hard to stay ready.
Guest speaker, Jeff Grenell share his experience with hardships and how God does His greatest work in the midst of our greatest needs.
If you want MORE of Jesus… it is going to require less of you. This means that we have to actively and sometimes painfully make room for MORE of Jesus.
God Granted Jabez's prayers: Bless Me... Expand My Territory... Be With Me... and Keep Me From...
God has MORE to give… and MORE to show… and MORE to bless. The problem is that too many times we allow our small faith puts a cap on God’s MORE. When you give your nothing to God he can fill it with MORE than you ever thought possible.
Jesus is worthy to be praised. We celebrate the birth of Jesus because the Death of Jesus rescued us, it redeemed us, it restored us and it set us free.
God declared to the world that every man, woman, boy, and girl have access to the savior — there is plenty of room for us all.
Jesus is fine to stay with us, or be in our lives as long as he doesn’t disrupt our comfort level… and as long as it doesn’t cost us anything. But when you begin to make room for Jesus in your own life you begin to realize he isn’t a burden he is a gift. He isn’t a sacrifice he is a savior. He doesn’t come with a cost…he paid the cost.
Sometimes the way we start isn't very impressive. But you are never too small, too inexperienced or too late to be used by God.
In Hebrews 12, the comparison between two mountains is explored: Mt. Sinai and Mt. Zion. Sinai is a physical place, while Zion is an eternal place. Which is your mountain of residence? Do you spend more time focused on the physical or the eternal?
