Didgeridoo Theme Yoga Mix by Dubtrak on Mixcloud
Description:I'm sure there is didgeridoo-theme yoga mix out there, I just haven't come across one yet.
I've heard this instrument being showcased in the same way shakuhachi or pan flute are in many new age albums, and it's a bit of a shame since didge can produce such a broad spectrum of sounds and project great variaty of emotions. There is way more to it than tagging it with "ethnic", "meditative" or "soothing". Aborigens used it for millenia for spiritual reasons but in today's music it is featured in wide variety of styles: from ambient, through trance and electonic, to folk, roots and World Beat.
In this mix I would like to incorporate some of these genres. I believe - as much as some may argue the point - that didge ultimately is a great instrument as a backdrop for yoga practise: after all, it is used as both drone instument (mindfulness / breath) and rhythem instrument (movement). I hope you'll enjoy this journey.

Still-Life-Within Yoga Mix by Dubtrak on Mixcloud
Description:Many Zen symbols, like pebble arrangements and lotus flowers, illustrate state of mind that
meditation should bring about. Even though in many yoga classes taught today it seems to come as an afterthought, stillness of the mind should be an integral part of your practice: as much as movement and steadiness of the breath are. And you know you are benefiting from your yoga class when mindfulness is its direct outcome. Its results spill over to the rest of your day: the practical, the social and the spiritual aspects of your life.
For this mix, I've selected tracks that, I believe, will help enhance mindfulness of your yoga
practice. The three opening tracks are by Within Reason, following by Dublicator, Planet Boelax
and yours truly brand new track "Moonwalk". Carl Sagans Ghost and Graffiti Mechanism tunes close
this mix with the hope that you'll feel reinvigorated and mindfully focused.

In the last yoga mix ("Desert Garden") I've included a track "Garden of the Gods" which is from my side project Art Sonic.
I thought I should post some links to more Art Sonic music, specifically, the last album, available as a free download.
I wrote "Roadside Sketches" during a 3-week long road trip to American Southwest, and it's the first part of the Southwestern trilogy, a project inspired by the mountain streams, rugged beauty of the desert, tales of the Old West and freedom of an open road. I've recorded a wealth of material during this trip and also did some field recordings which later, back in my studio, got incorporated into the tracks’ arrangements.

Big prairie skies, Rocky Mountain panoramas, desert vistas, ghost towns and ancient Anasazi ruins, all provided inspiration to pick up the guitar and attempt to translate sights into notes. I hope you'll enjoy these little roadside sketches.

Description:After 6 months hiatus, Mixes for Yoga returns with a new selection of music. While the last, ‘Oceanside’ mix, explored tranquility of a beach, I’m starting 2013 with a desert theme mix; a place also filled with sand but, instead of the soothing sounds of surf, we explore silence and sensation of open space one can find in a desert. While many tracks in this mix come from netlabel releases and lesser known artists, I also included some rarities by fairly recognizable names like Massive Attack’s remix of Nusrat Fateh Ali Knah “Mustt Mustt”, Liquid Stranger’s early track “Between the bubbles” and Robin Guthrie’s (of Cocteau Twins fame) collaboration with ambient pianist Harold Budd. Sitar theme yoga mix by Dubtrak on Mixcloud
Description:
In this, fourth, installment of Mixes for Yoga, sitar is in the spotlight.
Classical Indian sounds of sitar by Anoushka Shankar and George Koller start off this mix before any beats are introduced. Well known downtempo tracks by Thievery Corporation and Bombay Dub Orchestra take the mix slowly in more upbeat direction, where number of ethno-trance tracks pick up the pace and energize the flow. Among them, there is an interesting sitar cover of Rolling Stones hit "Paint it Black" by Kaleidoscope Jukebox. Behind the Mirage - Hot Yoga Mix by Dubtrak on Mixcloud
Description:
This mix starts off with some mid-tempo middle-eastern beats, progressing gently into a flow of great dub electronica and psytrance tunes in the middle. The last 3rd of the mix eases off into mellower and more melodic climates. Bombay Dub Orchestra, TJ Rehmi, Karsh Kale and Anoushka Shankar tracks bring the mix nicely toward its beat-less and meditative completion. Ambient track by Arcticology allows for perfect closed-eyes motionless cool off period.

Here we go! So, this is the inaugural post with the very first mix called "Easy Groover Yoga Mix". It should pretty much set up a pattern of how these mixes will be done. The dynamic flow may change from mix to mix, depending on the mix's theme but I will usually try to incorporate a healthy dose of both, established artists and lesser known musicians, producers and DJs whose music is posted on sites like SoundCloud.
