Stepping up to the SUNANDBASS Podcast and leading us into autumn is producer and DJ, Deekode. Originally from North West England but raised in the Midlands, Deekode has spent years shaping his style and sound, deeply influenced by SUNANDBASS Recordings.“I remember being a 15-year-old kid walking home from school rinsing Sun & Bass releases like ‘In The Shade’ by Fracture & Mark System, ‘G-String’ by Code 3, and ‘Rain’ by Skeptical on repeat in my headphones, daydreaming of one day releasing on the label. To be invited to guest mix the Sun & Bass Podcast is an honour & a dream come true, a real full-circle milestone & without a shadow of a doubt the biggest tick on my music career bucket list so far.”Deekode describes his sound as intricate yet stripped-back sonics blended with deep but energetic beats. November already and another month closer to SUNANDBASS 2022! This month's podcast is someone who represents the true spirit of SUNANDBASS, and she also recorded this mix live using only vinyl so you can enjoy the classic beauty of dnb right here. Very happy to have Alite back for our November podcast!
Perhaps a new name for you, but one you should definitely know! We're happy to have Rizzle providing us with this dark, sci-fi mix for our October podcast. Rizzle is continuously on the rise, from cutting his teeth on local label Wrec Records to consistently bringing the goods on established labels like Metalheadz, Dispatch, Overview, Shogun, Symmetry & Invisible to name a few.

It's September, the sacred month of SUNANDBASS and what a better way to celebrate it than with a podcast mix from Fava himself! Fava has picked his favorite SUNANDBASS tunes that mark the special moments we shared since 2008. Here's to good music, good company and great MCs!
This month's podcast is one that's very close to our hearts; from our very own family member Tom Moxham aka 'quince'. Tom has been a vital player to the SUNANDBASS core team for many years; maybe you've met or chatted with him along the way, or caught his sets in 2018 & 2019, or maybe you enjoyed listening to the podcasts that he curated during his time with us?
Although Tom has moved on to new adventures, he will always be one of the SUNANDBASS family, and after all of his years curating the podcast, we are now honoured to have him come back for his own mix this month, and what a mix it it!
"Having curated the podcast for the last 2 years and worked for SUNANDBASS for the last 6 years, doing a guest mix for the podcast is something I have wanted to do for some time, and it felt lovely to be asked. Having been lucky enough to play the Beach Stage and Ambra Night Gazebo the last two festivals, this mix really is exactly the sort of set I'd have planned for those if this year was happening. It's a showcase of as much of the new music I've loved since we last were all together, and what I completely envisaged hearing throughout the festival, but with one track that will forever be the track I've loved hearing most at SUNANDBASS. Maybe some of you will know it and feel the same. Colossal love to all of you and I hope I've captured just some of the essence of what might have been emitting from San Teodoro next month."
This special podcast mix from Need For Mirrors really hits the spot, giving us a glimpse into his mind & writing process for his SUNANDBASS 2019 performnace. Right now, mentally, we are under warm Sardinian skies with you all, with an Ichnusa in one hand and the other hand in the air! Don’t forget to order your vinyl copy of Ultra Violin EP out today!

It’s getting a little warmer, the nights are getting longer and Bailey has been kind enough to provide us with a mix for our May podcast! Bailey is part of our OG SUNANDBASS family, having played every edition of SUNANDBASS to date! Not only is he at the heart of our SUNANDBASS family but also the heart of the drumandbass scene. His story begins at the pirate station Energy FM, then to a residency with Metalheadz and to a 10 year tenure with BBC Radio 1Xtra; and he is still moving forward. You know you’re in good hands once you see Bailey behind the decks or in this case, on the SUNANDBASS Podcast!

Here we go, our March edition sees Djinn bring us to the dark, early hours of the morning-after. You’ll be very happy to put on headphones and let Djinn take you on this journey, reminding us of nights we haven’t had in quite some time.
Djinn cut her teeth playing underground shows around the UK since 2004 before settling in Manchester and usually tours internationally way back ‘before’ and we are very happy to have her back for our March podcast.

January is over and it looks like things are getting better, well it's definitely better now that we have Alegria as our next podcast. Alegria is a long time friend and SUNANDBASS veteran attending every year since 2009. You will always find him right at the front left to get the best views of the party!

It’s a new year and there is a lot of hope for the future, especially now that our first podcast of 2021 is from heavyweight Klute. A true rebel and rogue, the sound of Klute’s Commercial Suicide label is one of the pillars that represent what SUNANDBASS stands for musically today.
It has only been a little more than a year, but it feels like another era since DJ Flight held the EQ50 talk for us on a sunny September day in La Cinta Beach Bar. Aren’t you curious what happened to everyone? Digging deep into how the community will respond to the urgent call for equality further sparked by the blacklivesmatter movement, but also how including and encouraging of equality can be displayed in a COVID world swept void of gigs. What are future plans and has anyone had space for creativity while major life changing events happened nonetheless? DJ Flight brought us an update with Chickaboo, Reid Speed, Philo, Sweetpea, Mantra and Alleycat, and a big thank you to all these artists for taking part. Now, go and grab some of these yummy Christmas cookies and a hot chocolate, listen and enjoy.
Finally, what can we say about 2020? Apart from souls lost and dreams shattered, we‘ve learned a lot of lessons this year. To honour what we have lost means to make every day count. Let’s build on it and join forces to create a happier and better place. There were so many people volunteering and ready to help selflessly, raising money through music for charity. A lot of virtual events were inclusive and showed how successful and colourful we’d be if we leave no-one behind. Whatever the future is going to be, it is in our hands to write a happy ending and share love, trust and respect. It may be hard to predict where the world is going in 2021, but let's not sit around and wait for something to happen. This year, we will bring on the SUNANDBASS monthly podcasts, interesting talks, label releases and make new dreams come true. We hope this is a year where we can all create new things and continue to push through these difficult times together. Let’s rise above the challenge and look forward to 2021 and beyond! Your SUNANDBASS crew
During SUNANDBASS 2019, we were proud to host EQ50's special talk presented by Marcus Intalex Music Foundation Radio. The talk was hosted by DJ Flight who brought together and interviewed many of the badass womxn from our community and which ultimately inspired us to present them bit by bit this December calendar. These conversations are finally to be released as videos and podcasts for you to (re)discover little by little. It goes without saying that the MIMF would be deeply grateful for any kind of donation. http://www.mi-mf.com/donate/
Stay tuned. Stay home. Stay safe. Lift up your spirits. SUNANDBASS crew
ENERGY. Something I think we need a little of heading into Winter (at least for us Europeans. And for many, LOCKDOWN-2, electric avenue.
This couldnt really have been a better time for a mix like this from longstanding SUNANDBASS resident Jumping Jack Frost. Strap on a pair of trainers and go pound some pavement in your daily outside time, and I assure you. Actually I insure you, for feeling a whole heap better when you return.
Take us there JJ.
Now this, is an exciting one to introduce - it's the original vermentino bubbler, San Teodoro's fix-up ya troubler, simply none other, it's the Prince of Sardegna, the festival's champion, it's Sir. Stefano. Sechi....
Sechi has emptied his heart into his 1210's on this one, it's an all vinyl 93-97 Jungle Mix, and I must say, it's is an absolute musical scripture, a seminal text, ripened for the sabbath. Pull out your hymn book, and nod your head.
We've wanted the Shogun boys GLXY on the podcast for some time now and they've kindly crafted us a 90 minuter, peppered with rollers and forgotten classics. It's SUNANDBASS heartland through and through - so with (I hope) continued sunshine for you all across Europe and beyond, this fits the bill very snugly; to pop an Ichnusa and have a little bounce : )
Check out GLXY's debut album 'Research & Development' if you haven't already, aswell as their recent release with Degs 'Young Hearts', of which the proceeds are going towards Black Lives Matter Charities.

We've only bloody hit #100! Thanks to everyone that's been with us from the start, and if you haven't, well you have plenty to catch up on - and what better a time for it.
To celebrate, we've got a right lippy little gobshite of a mix from ever-brilliant DLR. Skanking it's way across your stereoscape, DLR has provided an asbolute stinker for us. If this doesnt make you wanna bust out of lockdown for a dancefloor sweat-out, well, we'll just give up now.
This month is Sofa King Sick LP month, a VA LP consisting of artists from over 8 different countries, many different dnb styles and sounds, a quality selection of beats and bass.
Sampler 1 is out now - DLR, Script & MC Fokus - Perception // Thematic - TDM - fanlink.to/ssdigi011
DLR is otherwise working on a plethora of projects, from The Sauce Recordings & Sofa Sound, to an exciting, and fitting project to raise money-for, and awareness-of hate crimes and racism.
He's a good egg. We like him.
'Let me take you on a trip. A journey full of sound and beats. One that will lead you down....' No it's not another quiz, but I bet you can finish that sentence... The remaining lyrics of that couldnt be more fitting for the current situation we all find ourselves in, but not least for the wicked path that our very own Acite takes us on in this months podcast. I think we are overdue a little bouncy lifter on the podcast and Mo does a lovely job of it in this.
Turn the lights off, set one of your flatmates on flicking the light switch on and off duty, and get on that living room dancefloor NOW. It's time for a floorfiller. Huge love to you all in the form of the genre we all love and depend on for solace : )

Lyndon Jarr of Unchained in Asia graces us with some of the sounds he's delivering out in China and beyond. The growing label and events company has a far stretching roster of artists that produce and playout across the region, and is well worth an explore. Lyndon's mix is plentiful of dubs, dishing out a brilliant cross section of what he's using to spread the genre-love across the Asia region.

Move aside carefully crafted NYE playlists, a Bryan G shaped grenade has been pulled and it's headed square at your pre-drinks - aHhHhghGhHggfnjsfnrwonfroh!!!!
V Recordings bossman has laid up some stonking beach sets for us over the years and 2019 was not one he held back on. Burdened with bangers, Bryan G's record bag erupted at La Cinta on the Monday, and it's time re-open pandoras box. . .
Happy New Year from all of us at SUNANDBASS. In another year full of political travesty, our genre still reigns supreme for love & escapism, and you guys help us make the ultimate forum for it. Truly, big up.
Big. Bad. And Heavy. From Bcee sunshine to gazebo dirt, we had to take you on a bit of a journey this month, and few sets tick off the late-night gazebo grit as well as @Mantra and @Djinn feat. @Blackeye and @Double-O . It's not hard to put yourself back in the sweatbox for the graveyard shift steppers...

No matter how dutty you love your gazebo wobblers, there is no denying how well ball-tickling liquid pairs with paradise. Kick back, shut ya lids, and put yourself back into the Garden of Ambra Night with the Spearhead Bcee (@spearheadrecords) alongside @tempza and @charlottehaining.

One of our favourite things over the course of SUNANDBASS week is the buzz around certain sets and people’s hype of the people that have killed it so far. Kim’s was one of those this year that so many people mentioned, and she’s kindly allowed us to publish it as part of this live series. Fulla bangers and tightly knitted, it’s @delahaye for Podcast 91.
We’ve had such a wicked response to the release of Total Science & Flights festival sets last month that we’ve decided to do a December special, giving you lucky little sun-seekers a newly released festival recording during the run-up to Christmas.
First up is the HIGHLY lauded @mcSystem ft. @cleveland-watkiss – we’ve been yearning to get a podcast release on Mark for as long as we’ve had hair – so it gives us GREAT joy to be gracing your eardrums with his smasher from Ambra Night.
On the first week of Christmas, my true love gave to me… Mark System baby.
We’ve not had a good jungle fix on the podcast for some time, so we hit up Flight to see if we could bag up and publish her set from the Friday of the festival. She has obliged! Alongside MC Chickaboo and Double O, it’s not hard to put yourself back in that steaming gazebo stepping along to those lary snares and wavey basslines. Enjoy!
As the temperature starts to dip across Sardinia and beyond, we've decided to spend the coming months bringing you back to the warm bosom of San Teodoro by showcasing some of our favourite recordings from this year's festival.
Kicking us off are legends of the game - @Total-Science & GQ - who ripped Monday a new one and kicked off the whole week with this grenade.
The festival lives on. Red red ready to riidddee.
It's the man who did the unthinkable and braved remixing one of the most well known D&B tracks of all time....and came out stomping.
The return of Unglued to the Island is a hugely welcome one, and we have the pleasure of him giving us a taste of what’s to come next week through this brilliant, and very fitting mix to launch the 2019 edition of Sun and Bass.

@Philth steps up for SUNANDBASS Podcast #82, and this one’s personal. A long time fan and attendee of the festival, it always means a lot to him to play there, a place he often calls his ‘happy place’. In this mix he’s really showcased what SUNANDBASS, San Teodoro, and Sardinia means to him, something that is also so important to us.
In customary Philth style, he’s put together an epic mix chock full of both fresh and classics, so get stuck in – but before you do, here’s a few words from the man himself to explain the context of it all:
When I was asked to record the latest Sun and Bass podcast I didn’t want to just gather up some promos and smash out a mix, I wanted to think about the festival and what it means to me and choose tracks that reflect what it feels like to spend a week in San Teodoro digging out some of my all time favourite tunes as well as exciting new music. As I collected up my music I thought about the main locations at Sun and Bass and how they all have their own particular vibe, then I selected a folder of music for the Beach, the Ambra Night ‘Garden’ and ‘Gazebo’ stages, just like I would do for the festival. The mix progresses on this journey, starting with mellow warm Beach vibes; picking up the energy and the euphoric feeling dancing under the stars in the Garden; and finishing up with the dark rinseout tunes to get sweaty to in the Gazebo. The final track is the sunrise at La Cinta beach before battling up the hill to get home... Sun and Bass is a place where the crowd are always receptive to deeper flavours of DnB so that definitely had an influence on my selection, along with a healthy sprinkle of classics, music that reminds me of good times at the festival both on the decks and dancefloor. There are plenty of my own productions but I didn’t want it to just be a dubplate mix - there is too much good music going on across the scene to only play my tracks. The mix features forthcoming Philth and Phil:osophy tracks coming on Dispatch, Flexout, Integral and Peer Pressure in 2019 so listen carefully no tracklist no ID’s!

SUNANDBASS Podcast #73 comes from the London based Production/DJ and Vocal Duo, @pault-edwardoberon
Responsible for one of 2016’s biggest tracks, the massive ‘Take My Breath Away’ alongside Serum, the duo have become one of V Recordings biggest double threats in the last couple of years, and are showing no signs of slowing down now.

Hospital’s Bristol via Cambridge recruit @Hugh-Hardie steps up for SUNANDBASS Podcast #73.
Already building a strong following for his upfront soul music, the young talent has in the last couple of years become a firm pillar in the soulful Drum & Bass scene. His name stands for beautiful compositions that tick all the boxes for home listening whilst still retaining a certain dancefloor je na sais quoi.
Currently busy in the studio (when not on busting moves on his board), Hugh has kindly taken the time to put together our latest Podcast, and has chocked it full of exclusives from both his peers and himself. Dig in!
New month, new podcast. SUNANDBASS Podcast #71 comes from @DJNeptune.
Known for releases on labels such as Astrophonica, Droppin' Science, Inperspective, Bassbin and Hospital to name a few, Neptune’s music combines funky rhythms and emotive strings with traditional sampling techniques and technological basslines.
Neptune is one half of the dynamic duo Fracture & Neptune, who set up Astrophonica in the early 2000s to showcase their visions of what the music was and what they thought it could become. It is now home to daring artists who share that same flair for rhythm and space, enjoy risk-taking and a have thirst for the new.
Last summer, Neptune played his maiden set at SUNANDBASS and tore down the dancefloor with his neurofunk sounds of the late ‘90s. This mix continues in that vein, showcasing some of the deeper aspects of said genre while dropping a few bangers from the time too, of course. Much like fine wine, these vintage records need to breathe; the mixes are long and the tunes are given space to do justice to the time that Drum and Bass was arguably at its peak. So please enjoy!

SUNANDBASS Podcast #68 comes courtesy of the Stateside connection – @submorphics and @t-r-a-c
Fresh off the back of Submorphics’ ‘Detroit Haze’ EP on The North Quarter, and T.R.A.C.’s ‘Life In Motion’ LP on V Recordings, this podcast finds these two right in their prime. Even though they reside in opposite sides of the US, their styles compliment one another’s perfectly, Submo’s obvious love of soul and funk and his great ear for a sample, and with T.R.A.C.’s hip-hop flows laid effortlessly over the top of proceedings.
The mix features of wealth of both hot new cuts and killer old draws, taking you from deep to dancefloor in one smooth move. Check out Submorphics and T.R.A.C.!
@djlee is a name synonymous with quality. Known as one of the key tastemakers within the scene since the early 90s, he built up his standing and craft with residencies at some of the finest events in the land, namely Fabio and Bukem’s ‘Speed’ and the infamous Metalheadz Blue Note Sessions.
He’s also no stranger to the world of production, having released tunes on labels such as Metalheadz, Metro, 31 and Advanced in the Drum & Bass world, and also for the legendary Watergate, the Berlin based house and techno label.
Although never stepping away from the music, or losing his love for it, he held back on the DJing for some time, but luckily 2017 saw him return to the fray, and the future now promises plenty more of DJ Lee, something music should definitely be grateful for!
And here he is with nearly 90 minutes of goodness for the SUNANDBASS Podcast. A fine blend of old and new, light and smooth, it’s a perfect start to 2018.

September’s 2017 SUNANDBASS Podcast comes from a scene stalwart. He’s a producer, DJ and promoter who has put in some serious miles to help shape the musical Drum & Bass scene into what it is today – this is Ben Soundscape.
Initially making his names as part of Bristol based duo ‘The Insiders’ in the early 2000s, Ben and production partner Joe signed tracks with almost every single heavy hitting label in the scene to great fanfare.
Alongside producing tracks, he runs his label ‘Intrigue Music’ that he set up in 2009 – an imprint that has become known for showcasing some of the biggest names in the scene, alongside numerous fresh up and coming talents. The label is run alongside and named after his infamous night ‘Intrigue’ in Bristol, one of the UK’s best-known and respected events.
With all this hard work put in for many years, we’re very happy to welcome Ben Soundscape to the SUNANDBASS Podcast – check it out!

SUNANDBASS Podcast edition 61 comes from DJ de la Haye, one of the leading ladies in drum and bass down under. Originally from New Zealand de la Haye has been a driving force in the Brisbane broken beat scene since moving to Australia in 2000.
Her sets are a diverse mix sure to set any dance floor alight, from rolling liquid, to tech step to dub & ragga beats, there is something to please all tastes. Before discovering jungle in 1996, her musical influences ranged from punk to soul to reggae & hip hop, which surely have had a hand in the wide array of music she covers in her sets.
De la Haye frequently plays around NZ and Australia, as well as running various club nights over the last 9 years such as the monthly Junkard sessions, her contribution to the Brisbane club scene has been an incredible asset. She has also been a regular at SUNANDBASS, playing at the festival since 2009.

Kazakhstan born Alexey Fuifanov has been releasing music under his Command Strange moniker for over ten years, consistently honing and developing his craft. With his first release on V Recordings back in 2013, he has since signed with the legendary label, dropping a selection of cuts in 2015 and 2016 to dramatic effect with his trademark combination of jungle, jump-up and soul vibes woven throughout the tracks.

Blocks & Escher have become names synonymous with quality, depth, musicianship – but perhaps most importantly, art. Possibly a dying attribute in dance music today, yet one that could be argued is more important than ever, whether stepping into the studio individually, or as a duo, Blocks & Escher have become known as artists who truly craft their own sound and path within the confines and frameworks of both music, and Drum & Bass.
With a string of releases on quality labels, it was truly after the formation of their own Narratives label, that Drum & Bass was forced to take stock of what the duo were doing and finally get the props they had so long deserved. With an album now wrapped up and ready to drop on Metalheadz, everybody will soon be singing their praises and lifting their stock worldwide.
We’re extremely privileged they have recorded the new Podcast for us – it’s time to drop in deep with Blocks & Escher.

His love for Drum & Bass was forged in the mid 90’s thanks to being passed tape packs from his English school exchange, none other than Utah Jazz. This burgeoning passion was soon cemented in infamous venues around South Germany, such as the legendary underground club Vibration in Forst, and the huge rave Mecca, MS Connexion in Mannheim.
In 2017 his hunger for the music is as great as ever. He continues to enjoy the full spectrum of Drum & Bass, always seeking out new and diverse sounds with a completely open ear to whatever style or sub genre it may be. This can be a testing time for some, but we’ve got a new podcast to see you through – this time from none other than Artificial Intelligence!
Freshly back from their debut appearance at SUNANDBASS, where they mashed up the outdoor stage at Ambra Night on Goldie’s night, their podcast will see you through to brighter days and nights, chock full of catchy melodies and good vibes – it’s just what the doctored ordered!
With just a few days to go until SUNANDBASS 2016, we’ve got our next Podcast to whet your appetite even further, this time from one of the legends of the German scene, Kabuki!
An artist who consistently shows an ability to turn his hand to a wealth of different styles, Kabuki has been joining the dots between high-grade liquid funk, jungle, hip-hop, footwork and beyond for the past 20 years! His releases on labels such as Reinforced, Sonar Kollectiv and V Recordings just go to highlight his versatility as a producer.
His SUNANDBASS Podcast shows his wide range of influences and ability to weave a wide range of styles together into a seamless narrative. Touching on musical, half-time, juke and jungle and beats, this one will take you on a journey – straight to San Teodoro!
With no less than seven albums to his name, and a whole raft of releases on seminal labels such as Moving Shadow, Certificate 18, Metalheadz and his own label DRP, Dom & Roland is a certified pillar of the Drum & Bass scene, with his contributions undoubtedly shaping the music and it’s sound.
His eighth LP is now on the horizon, and will be released on Metalheadz. This certainly promises to show a brilliantly crafted and no doubt technical side to his production, and is sure to be shaking dancefloors worldwide.
Check out his brilliant SUNANDBASS Podcast, which hosts a number of his tracks on this forthcoming album, alongside some of his firm favourites – this one goes off!

Releasing since 1997, with two LPs and countless 12“s and EPs on labels such as Good Looking, Metalheadz, Soul:R, Bassbin and his own Secret Operations label, Seba has been a tour de force in Drum & Bass for some time.
Initially known for his early, more atmospheric work with Good Looking amongst others, he’s also regularly shown other sides to his pallete, with deep, dark and heavy tracks also sitting comfortably next to his initial work. One factor often tends to remain constant though, and that is the effortless style he shows when working with breaks, a skill often seemingly lost in modern Drum & Bass.
Also a varied selector when playing live, he steps in for SUNANDBASS Podcast #49 and shows us what he’s currently up to and enjoying musically. Dive in and enjoy the sounds of Seba!
SUNANDBASS Podcast #48 comes from 'All Crews'. Here's what they had to say about the mix:
The ethos behind All Crews is to celebrate everyone’s talents. The crew's members include: JB Raw of London From The Rooftops, DJ Chef of Kool FM, DJ Staunch from Rude FM and All Crew's author Brian Belle-Fortune. Our sun-kissed logo was designed by Nadine Minagawa and The Voice himself Mr singing Fats accompanies us on this journey through SUNANDBASS, the special festival where we all bonded. And each Crew member plays a different SUNANDBASS venue. JB Raw ushers in warm liquid La Cinta's beach vibes. Chef entertains Bal Harbour's bikini & bass, pool and palm trees. Staunch militantly marches us straight into Ripping's Darkroom. And Brian 'No Prisnors' Belle-Fortune devastates Ambra Night.
Although we all live in London, all the mixes were recorded separately by each DJ, without knowing which tracks the others were playing. So it says much that no one selected the same tune. It's down to the talents of DJ Chef, engineering the mix, ensuring all the levels were correct, arranging Fats' words punctuating the music in exactly the right places.
This is All Crew's Bad Company collective. As DJ Staunch explains, "Expect to hear the mix and with each chapter think, 'Actually it's all about this style, that's what makes this culture so special. Each soul has their own take on it and we get to tell the same story a million different ways. I know when I hear you lot spin I'm like fuck me.' "
It's an honour to be called upon to play this SUNANDBASS podcast. And it's a delight to contribute to the SUNANDBASS Family. See you in September. And remember, All Crew Muss Big Up!
It’s time for SUNANDBASS Podcast #47 – and this month we’ve got Brazilian badboys Alibi on the controls.
Under their Alibi moniker, the guys started to make big waves last year. Made up of DJ Chap and Level 2, they’ve been releasing music since 2009 on labels such as V Recordings, Innerground and Chronic. Now signed exclusively to V, these guys look set to do great things in 2016 with plenty of music ready to drop.
Known their for love of a wide range of style of Drum & Bass, the guys effortlessly weave together dancefloor, musical, deep and upfront tracks in their sets, whilst all the time making sure to clearly show their roots and influences. Check out their SUNANDBASS Podcast for a taste!

DJ Storm really needs no introduction, at all. As one of the most important pillars of the foundations of Drum & Bass, Storm has seen it all and still stands tall at the forefront of the scene, an impeccable tastemaker with a highly refined ear for the music.
Initially infamous for her formidable partnership with the late DJ Kemistry, the pair were seen as some of the finest DJs in the scene and were hugely influential in the formation and building of the essential Metalheadz empire.
Storm has since gone on to forge her own distinct path, always known for picking out the finest musical gems and building and blending them together in her own inimitable style. We’re extremely happy that she’s taken the time to do so once again for the SUNANDBASS Podcast – check it out!
Tracklist:
Bryan Gee has been involved in music since his youth, starting off as a reggae soundsystem selector and pirate radio DJ. After already starting a prolific DJ career, he and long time friend Jumping Jack Frost started the infamous V Recordings in around 1993.
V Recordings soon became one of the most important labels in Drum & Bass, releasing some of the first tunes from new artists like Roni Size, Dillinja, Die & Krust and many others.
He was also responsible for one of the most important weekly nights in London in the late 90’s and early 2000’s called Movement. Known as a home of brand new, quality music, this was the place to go to check out what was fresh.
This just serves to highlight what a love and ear Bryan Gee has for Drum & Bass – and this is still the case today, highlighted in his new mix for the SUNANDBASS Podcast!
Happy 2016 to you all, we hope you had a lovely Festive season and New Year!
We’re jumping head first into it with a cracking new podcast from @anile.
Matt’s music has been of a consistent quality since he first made his debut back in 2010. Since then he has continued to grace a plethora of quality labels such as Soul:R, CIA Deep Kut, Commercial Suicide and Cylon to name but a few. His wide-ranging output is indicative of an artist with a broad taste in drum and bass, someone who can pick out quality within the music whatever sub-genre it may line in.
Fast-forward to 2015, and it saw Matt being picked up by none other than Med School for an album project – and what an album it was. Chock full of quality, styles and vibes – it showcased his production talent and variety in spades and is one that is sure to stand the test of time.
And now he graces us with a sublime SUNANDBASS Podcast. Flitting beautifully from deep and dark to musical and uplifting, it’s just what you need for the start of 2016.
The start of December sees SUNANDBASS Podcast #43 dropping – and it’s time to get cold.
Quadrant & Iris have very kindly graced us with a mix of epic proportions, showing us exactly what to expect when they step up to the decks.
Featuring a raft of their own productions, including some from their 2015 ‘206’ LP on Commercial Suicide, the mix also neatly ties together a wide range of flavours from many of drum and bass’ important players – but also some fresher names, proving they like to keep their ears to the ground for hot new tracks and talent.
Enjoy the mix, it’s going to warm up the place!
LSB steps up to mix SUNANDBASS Podcast #42, showcasing the sound that has seen him catapulting through 2015.
After solidly building his catalogue for the last couple of years, LSB has now become one of the go-to names for musical drum and bass. And with tracks such as Leave and The View to his name, the demand just seems to be growing.
With another stellar EP set to drop on Spearhead shortly and plenty of other music in the pipeline, LSB looks set to keep gracing our ears with musical gems.
Back with a bang, back with a bump – however it is for you, welcome home after SUNANDBASS 2015, we hope you’re feeling A OK! Hopefully you’re not on your last legs, but if you are, we have the perfect remedy for you:
Last Life.
Not much is known about Last Life, but we’re very lucky to have him grace us for SUNANDBASS Podcast #41.
His debut EP for Cylon is coming soon, test presses are already approved – so keep your eyes peeled for that, and meanwhile, enjoy the sounds of Last Life – it’s the first you’ll have heard from him, but surely not the last…
SUNANDBASS Podcast #40, and it’s the sound of sunshine with @djpatife!
Just a few days until SUNANDBASS 2015, and what a perfect way to bring you to the Island for your yearly dose of beats, beach and bass.
DJ Patife is a name synonymous with drum and bass and Brazil. Involved in the scene there since the 90’s, his unique take on the sound began to reach further afield after he and fellow countrymen bought us the ‘The Brasil EP’ on V Recordings in 2001.
An exciting, fresh release coming from a new angle at the time, the EP opened the door for the Brazilian take on drum and bass to reach that little bit further, and to help spread their vibe to the world.
And now as he steps up for our Podcast, he’s delivered a brand new mix full of exclusives to once again show us how he does it! Dive in, we’ll be seeing you soon!
Just over one month to go until SUNANDBASS 2015, and our new Podcast comes from none other than @marcusintalex.
His closing set of SUNANDBASS 2014 showed us exactly what the festival is all about – but not content with just blowing the roof off with that one, he’s back once again to show us how it’s done.
This one is chock full of freshness – good luck to the tracklist spotters!
Best thing to do is stick this on and get yourself thoroughly in the mood for the fun that awaits us in one months time!
Enjoy!
SUNANDBASS Podcast #38 – @f-d & @i_am_arpxp
Welcome to a special edition of the SUNANDBASS Podcast!
As of September, SUNANDBASS will be bringing it’s own label to the table once again. With some of the artists closely affiliated to the festival making some great music, SUNANDBASS wanted to release it to the community and share their sound to further represent what the festival stands for.
FD and ArpXP are these artists, and their first EP for SUNANDBASS will be released in early September to coincide with this year’s edition of the festival.
Featuring two tracks from each artist, the EP covers a range of moods and feelings, and each forthcoming release will do the same. Just as with the festival, the releases will not be restricted in style and will showcase the amazing width drum and bass has to offer.
ArpXP and FD have kindly put together this months Podcast to gives us a great insight into what they stand for musically. Flowing smoothly between a wide range of flavours, they have a trained ear for digging out both the freshest new music and the essential classics, and seamlessly weave them together here.
Keep an eye out for the release, coming soon on SUNANDBASS!

SUNANDBASS Podcast #37 is upon us, and joining us for this months instalment is none other than Metalheadz’ @Jubei-1.
Known for rolling it out, whether on the ones and twos or in his productions, he has spliced together some of his favourite tracks, new and old for this mix. Expertly blending smooth, tough, musical and hard, he shows why he is often thought of as one of the best DJs on the scene, able to put together a wide variety of tracks whilst still maintaining a common theme throughout.
With a new EP for Headz just over the horizon, we thought now would be a good time for him to show us what he’s about, and he’s done that in spades here once again. Tune in, zone out and check Jubei.
Spring is in the air – and it feels like the countdown to SUNANDBASS 2015 is truly underway!
What better way to celebrate this than to have a brand new SUNANDBASS Podcast from some of the biggest legends in the drum and bass scene – Total Science!
Releasing records together since 1996 (and individually since 1991!), the guys have since graced the scene with 3 LP’s and hundreds of singles and EP’s, their contribution to the drum and bass landscape both essential and highly influential.
Their SUNANDBASS Podcast is typical of their style when behind the 1’s and 2’s. It’s absolutely chock full of fresh and unheard tracks – and ranges from the more melodic side of the spectrum, through to the harder and more rolling style too.
Total Science just like good music and you can hear it here - if you want to get to know some of the tracks that are sure to be new drum and bass essentials in the coming months, check this!
Long time friends of the SUNANDBASS family, Kred & Handy (aka Matt Elms and Andy Easton) have rolled out this month’s Podcast.
They’re an extended part of the family, having first attended SUNANDBASS in 2006. In 2008 they got to show people their cards musically, playing the now highly coveted opening night slot at La Posta – and it was a night to remember, with people dancing on the pool tables and slapping the walls! Since then, they’ve been back in the mix at SUNANDBASS every year.
Back in London, they help to run one of London’s finest independent Drum & Bass nights, Launch, whilst also finding time to host a weekly radio show on Origin FM.
This Podcast showcases the classic Handy & Kred style, a blend of old and new, smooth and abrassive - mixing classics with new favourites, and with the odd dub thrown in for good measure. Recorded live, they suggest you serve with a chilled Ichnusa and enjoy!

His set at SUNANDBASS 2014 literally took the roof off of Ambra Night – a killer selection expertly put together – Spirit’s set was red hot and so it was a no brainer to get him back for the Podcast.
An important pillar of the Drum and Bass scene, Duncan Busto aka Spirit has been putting out essential tracks since 1996 on a whole host of labels including Metalheadz, CIA, Renegade Hardware and his own Inneractive imprint amongst many others.
His SUNANDBASS Podcast showcases yet more strings to his bow – the first half made up of some of his favourite new deeper cuts, expertly woven together and illustrating his interest in a whole range of music and a style people might not expect. In the second half it’s time for an education, ‘Spirit’ style, as he takes us back to the early doors of Jungle and Drum and Bass – this one’s going to be on rotation for a while to come for sure!
Blindside steps up for Podcast #33.
Dan has been integral to the UK scene for a hot minute now – schooled on Ratty, Pilgrim, Scotty, Fabio and Bukem at Quest from ‘92, he helped run Pro-Session and Autumn before starting his own event in 2006, Break Thru, and has since joined the SUNANDBASS crew in 2014.
He is also the founder of Blindside Recordings, a label that has been responsible for releasing music from some of drum and bass’ most important producers from the early 2000’s onwards - including the incredible DBridge remix of Dreamworld by Physics, Konspiracy by Marcus Intalex and Noisia’s first release. Blindside Recordings will be making a come back later this year beginning with a release from Calibre, so stay tuned for that!

Podcast #32, our first for 2015, comes from one of the masters of our music, and this mix is nothing short of superb. A lesson in the creation of sound - no names, genres, pigeonholes needed, just genuinely fantastic music.
Up steps Calibre for the SUNANDBASS Podcast, and what a perfect start it is to 2015.

John’s been coming back to Sun And Bass time and again to grace us with his great party vibes and serious selection – whether it’s drawing for his native drum or bass, or taking us through his epic 80’s collection, we always know that we’re in for treat. If you witnessed his San Teodoro 80’s party set this year, you’ll know just what we mean – the whole town was popping off!
And this mix is no different. An eclectic mix of light and dark, rolling and heavy, he’s dropped us a real quality set here, encompassing both future masterpieces and stone cold classics.
Sit back and bask in the rays of John B, you’re going to feel the heat…

SUNANDBASS Podcast #30 comes from Stateside badman Stunna.
A classically trained pianist as elegantly shown in one of our recent video diaries, he’s had a raft of releases on quality labels, all showcasing his own unique sound and take on drum and bass. And not just satisfied with highlighting his own achievements, he also hosts his own weekly ‘Greenroom’ show on Bassdrive every week, a true testament to his love and passion for music.
His mix for Podcast #30 draws you straight in. He doesn’t necessarily need to draw for the hottest exclusives or big name artists, but this mix screams quality and vibes from the get-go. Go get on that, it’s rolling!

As the leaves start to change to a thousand and one shades, the evenings draw in closer and we all want to be snuggled up in front of a nice roaring fire, the first podcast of post SUNANDBASS 2014 has arrived, and this time from one of our oldest residents.
Gato Perez has been part of the crew since 2004 and here he indulges us in another thick slice of his top shelf tracks. Influenced by the late 90’s Frankfurt Techno scene, Gato likes to draw for both grooving and minimal tracks, and build up a story of wonder, layers and flavours.
We hope you enjoy it as much as we are right now, and that your trip back to reality hasn’t come with too much of a bump!

This one the sound of the @Loxy_ !
Only 5 days to go till Sun And Bass 2014 and we’ve got a nice bit of extra hype in the shape of SUNANDBASS Podcast 28; to tide you over while you pack your bags, buy that sun cream and try and contain your excitement!
Loxy has been representing for proper drum and bass since the start of the 90’s, on both the decks and the production boards.
Known to pretty much never drop a beat and be absolutely on point with hunting down the latest and best sounds, his technical ability and superb selection have seen him asked to be a resident DJ for some of the best in the business – Metalheadz, Hardware, Exit – and the list could go on and on. He’s also really increased his own production output in the last years, gracing labels such as Exit, Digital Soundboy, Metalheadz and of course his own CX:Digital imprint.
All of this makes his contribution to the music both undeniable and totally essential – immerse yourself in the sounds – and we’ll see you next week on the island!
As we edge ever closer to SUNANDBASS 2014, one of our long time supporters steps up to the plate.
Utah Jazz has been holding the drum and bass torch up high since his first releases in 2000, since then gracing us with 4 albums, the most recent of which, his ‘Portfolio’ LP, has just been released on Spearhead.
This mix nicely showcases Luke’s style, blending dubs and new tracks alongside some stone cold classics that always deserve an airing.
Sit back, get this mix rolling and smell the Sardinian sea air – soon come!
Drum and Bass has probably been around since around 1993, give or take, depending on where you stand on the ‘is it jungle, is it drum and bass?’ debate.
Paradox has been releasing vinyl since 1992 under his Mixrace (alongside DJ Trax), Brown Assassin and Paradox monikers. This makes Dev Paradox an essential part of drum and bass and jungle music, and he’s been on the cutting edge of it all since then – even if the kids just started stealing his hairstyle ideas now!
SUN AND BASS Podcast #26 comes from the man himself, and put together in his own inimitable hosting style, he educates us on the music and airs some of the finest cuts currently around, yet as per usual, never with any arrogance or elitism.
Check this podcast if you want to know about the best drum and bass has to offer right now – you’re going to enjoy it.
Up steps Skeptical to the Sun And Bass ones and twos for Podcast #25 – and once again he does what he does best, rolling out the beats and bass to maximum effect.
Since his first releases a few years ago, Skeptical has been carving his own niche of stripped down beats and bass and fresh grooves, ensuring his name in the history books with the anthem ‘Marka’ alongside Dub Phizix and Strategy.
His Sun And Bass Podcast once again shows his take on things – buckle up for the ride!
Nu:Tone steps into the fray for SUNANDBASS Podcast #24.
The Drum and Bass landscape would be quite a different place without Dan Gresham. After a number of 12’s and the defining ‘Future Sound of Cambridge’ EP on Hospital in 2004, Dan has since graced our ears with 3 Nu:Tone albums and also a Nu:Logic album with his brother and sparring partner, Logistics.
Just the shear wealth of music cannot be ignored, but the quality control that he has managed to maintain throughout is beyond impressive. He is certainly an artist that Drum and Bass needs to be thankful for, bringing musicality, soul and depth, yet also a distinct ear and knowledge for what the dancefloor requires.
His DJing is no exception to this, and his SUNANDBASS podcast shows it in spades. Touching all bases, musical, halftime, deep, dancefloor – this podcast has something for everyone, so dive right in….

The Daddy Randall, the DJ’s DJ, the inspiration and role model for nearly all other drum and bass DJs such as Andy C and Friction. He’s been DJing since the mid 80’s, and ripping up drum and bass raves since they began, so it’s fair to say he knows a thing or two about this game!
SUNANDBASS Podcast #23 comes from none other than DJ Randall, and we’re super chuffed to have him join us for the series. Almost 90 minutes of live, fresh, real beats, this one’s chock full of dubs of course, so make sure you lock in and listen carefully for another top drawer lesson!
Our March podcast comes from a long-standing member of the family, Rumba. Since 2005, he has been responsible for looking after all the sound matters for the festival, while still finding time to grace the decks in Sardinia with his own inimitable smooth yet energetic style.
Influenced by a wide spectrum of sound including reggae, dancehall, live percussion and all kinds of electronic music, his love for drum and bass began after moving to London for one year – and you can hear the 10 years of history in his selection and faultless mixing. Enjoy!

Tokyo Prose takes to the controls for SUNANDBASS Podcast #21 and he takes us on a journey showcasing again why his stock is so hugely on the rise.
With his debut album for Samurai Music almost complete, this mix gives us a good idea of what to look forward to – musicality, depth and emotion.
A couple of little teasers of his new music feature, the fantastic ‘Goodbye Hands’ that he kindly gave for the SUNANDBASS 10 Years Selection album which you all know well, and also the brand new ‘Songbird’ on Hospital, both great examples of what we can expect on his forthcoming LP.
Enjoy the mix!
SUNANDBASS Podcast #19 comes from Clarity – the name on a lot of people’s lips right now.
Soon after starting to send his music out, Clarity’s tunes were jumped on by all who were lucky enough to hear them. Sparse, stripped back, ice cold yet immensely powerful, the sounds he was producing belied his tender age – and of course with tracks like this, it wasn’t long before labels such as Samurai and Exit were knocking at his door.
His performance damaged SUNANDBASS this year, and now he’s back for more – let’s call it an early Christmas present. Get wrapped up, the volume up loud and check what the man has in store for us all…
As we all try to come back down to reality, we thought we needed to give you another dose of SUNANDBASS podcast goodness - and we’re honoured to have the legend that is Doc Scott at the controls.
Check this out, Scotty nailing the freshest vibes as always, here’s the perfect soundtrack for your post SUNANDBASS blues! Keep your chins up, only 51 weeks to go! ;)
Nymfo steps up to the controls for Podcast #17, get ready!
Already well known for his DJing with many years of experience under his belt, Nymfo is also a well respected producer, working closely with Commercial Suicide but not just stopping there, also clocking up releases on seminal labels such as Ram, Metalheadz and 31 Records.
This mix is a lovely warm up for September, check it out!

Podcast #12 comes from a long time supporter of Sun And Bass and one of Hungary's biggest drum and bass exports, Chris.SU.
Known and respected for his use of melody and texture as well as his upfront production and huge sound, this mix is a good representation of that, taking in old, new, tech and musical tracks - and also some Sun And Bass anthems for good measure.
Spring is springing here, this mix will get you in the mood, even if it's grey where you are!
Sun And Bass' own linchpin Alite brings you podcast #11. A vinyl only mix - and using only first presses (geeks take note!), this mix gives a great insight into how the organisers see and feel about Sun And Bass, Alite having carefully picked each track to represent different feelings and moods they experience each year!!
