It’s no doubt Nicky has “foodie” flowing in her veins. She’s originally from Chicago, one of the top restaurant city’s in the USA. It wasn’t until she decided to move to Las Vegas with her husband in 2017 to finally start pursuing her passion which is food and travel. She decided to have Corporate America take a back seat so she could jump start her food and travel blogging brand. Nicky possesses a Master's degree in Managerial Leadership and a Bachelor's degree in Speech Communications.

Nicky had been working in human resources and workforce development for 10+ years, but her job was very stressful and ultimately, she was unhappy. Nicky and her husband planned to move out West to Las Vegas for his career and decided to sell their house and pack up their things. While trying to figure out her next career move, Nicky decided to start her food and travel blog called Nicky’s Savory Travels, combining her two passions. Las Vegas is her home base and when she’s not hosting visitors on a Taste Buzz food tour on the Las Vegas Strip, she travels the world, eats, and writes about her adventures! She has traveled to 48 of our continental 50 united states, and 25 countries in 6 continents. Her goals are to visit Alaska and Montana, by next year, Antarctica when she turns 50 (In just six more years), and every country during her lifetime.

When it comes to food, what’s your definition of a FOODIE, and would you say you are one? Someone who has a keen interest in different foods stemming from a variety of ethnic backgrounds. I would definitely say that I'm a foodie at heart. I enjoy learning about interesting dishes as I believe they tell a story and explain the influence of specific seasonings and spices used.

How did you end up settling out west, and why Las Vegas? My husband was extended a great job opportunity in the gaming industry which led us out West to Las Vegas. I lived in San Diego and Orange County, California many moons again, so it was easy for me to get re-acclimated living out West.

What are some dishes or foods you’ve had while traveling and said, I have to learn how to make that? I had jerk oxtail stew in The Cayman Islands; okonomiyaki (A Japanese-style meat and/or veggie pancake) as I lived in Osaka, Japan for two years as an English Language Teacher; and Singaporean noodles in Singapore.

On this episode you will learn the Tricks of the Travel system and how to travel the world on a dime

Guest BIO

Ronnie Dunston was born in Passaic New Jersey. His father was in the military, which allowed his family to visit and live in various places, including Germany, Texas and Washington State. From a young age, Ronnie loved traveling to new places.

Ronnie attended Seton Hall University and majored in Psychology with a minor in Business. From there, he earned a master’s of Psychological Counseling from Monmouth University, along with three additional Master degrees, an MBA, MPA and MHRM from Keller Graduate School of Management. Ronnie served as a Dean of Housing and Student Services for many years, taught in the School of Business and is currently a Senior Training Specialist with the Department of Energy. He realized he has a passion and talent for teaching and helping others pursue their academic and career goals.

Since Ronnie started traveling at a very young age, he traveled often as an adult. The more places he visited, the more of the world he wanted to see. He also wanted to help others travel the world. In 2011, he started his first travel business, Pay Cheap Rates Travel Club ®. This company aimed to help those who are interested in seeing the world for a fraction of the cost and included a full concierge service to book vacations. As he gained more experience in the travel industry, Ronnie learned new ways to travel the world for cheap. After selling his business, he set a personal goal to see 100 countries, with his new fiancée Dr. Sheba. Over the years, they have learned the ins and outs of the travel industry, and Ronnie developed a new education-based Tricks to Travel system, teaching others how to travel the world for cheap. Instead of booking vacations for others, the aim is to teach others how to find and book their own vacations, as well as gain free flights and hotel stays, essentially travelling for free. With years of experience as a counselor, professor, trainer and business owner, Ronnie is passionate about creating a travel network and helping others accomplish their personal travel goals, for a fraction of the cost.

Five years ago I had no interest in traveling overseas until it was presented to me as a career opportunity. I had a passport, so I asked myself, why not. Since then, I have visited 20 countries (Philippines 15x and India 6x), I’ve started an Instagram travel blog page and I’ve become a self-taught travel concierge on Facebook. I have also become savvy in making trips within a trip by taking advantage of layovers when booking trips. One of my monikers is the #Layoverking. It took me a while, about 37 years to be exact, but travel is what I do and I enjoy and appreciate the connections I make globally.
