This is the second part of my interview with JR Spear. He's an online personal trainer that gets tons of people in for his fitness challenge, but that's not his focus. He just loves fitness. I mean, he had a couple of gyms before and a martial arts studio. So he has a lot of accomplishments under his belt.
What he's doing today is he’s coaching other PTs on how to grow their online business through marketing funnels. And he's helped clients grow from, let's say just a few clients to 50-60 in just a month with things like an intro challenge.
In addition, he's an Iraq veteran who survived a suicide bombing. In part one of my two part interview, you get to actually hear what he went through. What's interesting is that he's pulled a lot of lessons from that experience and being in the military, that's really brought him a lot of success in his business life.

This is the second part of my two-part interview with Jordan Berry where he shares the small but hugely impactful things he does with his trainers and his customers to create a sense of a broader brand, community and support without having a central fitness studio.
Jordan owns a New Zealand based personal training company, Kaizen Fitness, and host of the Kaizen Fitness Show, a podcast that interviews top athletes and health experts.
At only 21 he’s built up a successful personal training business with two trainers and a massage therapist. What’s interesting is that he’s built up a successful business without having his own gym space. He and his trainers actually train out of other fitness gyms.
This is a great low risk and low cost business model for any trainer to use to initially expand their business. The challenge with these businesses is it’s not so easy to find top-notch trainers and keep them. What’s amazing about what Jordan has done is through community events, training programs for his trainers, ongoing support, and even a podcast.

Our guest today, Joseph Dispenziere is a serial fitness business entrepreneur with over 35 years of experience in the health and wellness industry.
One of his ventures, a cross training fitness studio, was an in-home personal training business and also a small group and one-on-one personal training studio that had 18 trainers, and at its peak 20,000 one-on-one sessions a year before he successfully sold it.
He went on to start Core Fit Consulting, which consults gym owners from sales, to facility design, to lease negotiation, and even financing. And as an extension, he also formed, “The Gym Broker”, which as its name suggests acts as a broker for gym buyers and gym sellers.

I am so excited today because we're going to talk to Stephen Whittier. He's done it all in fitness. He's been a personal trainer, a fitness and martial arts gym owner, and is now a business coach to other fitness professionals helping them 5X, 10X their business.
Using his fitness and the analytical background, he's been helping fitness coaches since 2011 which is a while ago, and he's helped them go from three to $5,000 a month to make it even $40,000 or $60,000 a month.
With his main specialty being online training now, it's really interesting to talk to him. One of his students, Steve McKinney, was able to actually 4X his investment with just one post. I think we've all been there where we can't even get one response to some of our posts so it's really interesting what he's doing.

Always be time length focused and talk about it in days or weeks. Ex: 21 Days Buns, Guns and Abs Challenge!

I remember the first time I learned about challenges and decided we would put one on and it would increase sales for my gym!
When I actually started creating the challenge I realized that it wasn’t as simple as it sounded. How much should I charge for the challenge and what would be included since some of the challengers are already paying clients?
The challenge was centered around a worksheet that they would get and would fill out.
I showed it to one of our clients and I told her about the challenge and I saw her eyes light up, so I knew it was something that created motivation in her.
However, I didn’t know what was needed to make a challenge great. Should it be weight loss focused? Or would that offend people? I didn’t have any upsells ready to go, and I barely promoted it on social media.
That first challenge I put on, I would have to say, didn’t produce much for my small studio in the form of new sign ups, more sales, or results for the clients.
BUT it created some excitement in the club!
