Carly’s soulful classes are full of reverence, dynamic challenge, and spirit. her light-hearted but comprehensive teaching style weaves yogic philosophy, Sanskrit, anatomy, eclectic music, and authentic connection to the Jivamukti method. Her offerings are not only designed to make you move, sweat, and reflect, but to empower fearless curiosity, increase self-acceptance, reconnect you to your humanity, and inspire spiritual activation—all while keeping your sense of humor.

the Jivamukti Method is grounded in the original meaning of the Sanskrit word asana as “seat, connection” – relationship to the Earth. Earth implies all of life. wherever life takes you, i’m so glad to be able to share some time on the mat.

a full flowing Jivamukti class that ends with extended savasana (a led nidra session) and meditation (in apana vayu mudra) we dive in to the A – the beginning; U-the sustaining aspect; and the M – the resolve of it all... The sound of OṂ (A+U+M+silence) and its cosmic resonance is known as Śabda Brahman. Reflected in savāsana lies the grace that reveals itself only when we allow for “un-doing”. Yogis know that we cannot “do” enlightenment, it is our practice to go through the steps to be receptive to it..

This practice is oriented around hip-opening asanas, and will leave you feeling ready to act in accordance to your deepest truth.

a true celebration of light, and honoring of darkness.

this class will leave you (perhaps with a tear in your eye) and definitely with a spring in your step!

.The Winter Solstice marks an auspicious shift in daylight, when we begin to emerge from the darkness back into the light. On the shortest, darkest day of the year, we are urged to call on the divine light from within. The long dark days of winter can lend themselves to physical stagnation, fatigue, and hibernation. In this yin yoga sequence, we honor the pause before we are called to expand once again.

Just as the muscles need our attention to stay healthy and resilient, so does the connective tissue In order to keep our muscles healthy we need to approach them in a dynamic way, we need to move and stretch. Muscles respond to stress and effort, however our Yin tissues are very different.

Rather than movement and striving, which are yang ways of approaching things, our yin tissues need gentleness and acceptance. When we go into a Yin posture the first line of resistance we face as our joints open or close is from our muscles.

Get cozy, dim the lights, and please let me know how you feel after the practice.

A quick session for when you are especially tired. Since this session doesn’t involve tensing your muscles prior to relaxing them, it’s particularly helpful if you have physical conditions such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, or other difficulties with tensing your muscles. This session incorporates physical, energetic, and mental relaxation, as well as intuition. During the practice an inner sanctuary of peace and calm is developed using guided imagery. The sanctuary can be recalled and experienced during stressful times to bring relief or during yoga nidra if it gets to intense and a break is needed.

This was a special experience I am happy to share with you. In the Bay Area it seemed as though the sun never cam out due to the ash in the air. In Colerado (where a member of the live class was zooming in from). the scorching summer heat overnight turned in to a snowstorm, and we practiced with the theme of Kriya yoga, and in particular, Tapah, dedication to practice to create heat, to cleanse, to clear! “If you want peace, joy and happiness, perform actions that bring about peace, joy and happiness for all. When we devote all of our daily activities arduously toward harmony, we are performing Kriya Yoga.

The physical practice is deep and grounding, we also practice kapalabhai kriya.

Through deep relaxation, a state of Yoga Nidra arises, which can lead to kaivalyam, or samadhi, in which the sense of individualization merges with absolute, transcendental joy. The practice of shavasana (corpse pose) can facilitate the arising of this state. But for success in shavasana, you have to understand, as Shri Brahmananda suggests, “how to use fixation, suggestion and sensation, and how to use the proper pause for time.”

Just as the muscles need our attention to stay healthy and resilient, so does the connective tissue. In order to keep our muscles healthy we need to approach them in a dynamic way, we need to move and stretch.

On the river of Nada Brahman, divine energy we flowed through this dynamic Jivamukti Open level class, the asana is oriented around twisting asanas, moving in to arm balancing, baby grasshopper is the peak posture.

Nada means sound or divine music, Nada Bramha, divine sound, or could be defined as the river of consciousness itself. So we are trying to tap in to that stream of consciousness, not just our personal individual consciousness, but that pervasive consciousness.

On the auspicious day of Krishna Janmastami (appearance of Shri Krishna) we flowed through this dynamic Jivamukti Open level class, the asana is oriented around hip opening and balancing, Visvamitrasana (compass) and Eka Pada Koundianasana are the peak postures. we explore the role of the teacher, and situations of our life as teachings, through shining light on even the darkest corners of our hearts and minds. Numerous are the gurus who rob their students of their wealth. But I consider it rare to find a guru who instead steals away the miseries from the student's heart. at the beginning of the class we chant:

OM AJNANA-TIMIRANDHASYA / JNANANJANA-SALAKAYA CAKSHUR UNMILITAM YENA / TASMAI SRI-GURAVE NAMAH I OFFER MY RESPECTFUL OBEISANCES UNTO MY SPIRITUAL MASTER, WHO HAS OPENED MY EYES, WHICH WERE BLINDED BY THE DARKNESS OF IGNORANCE, WITH THE TORCHLIGHT OF KNOWLEDGE. Yoga Nidra for spiritual renewal.

Offered during a time of political un-rest, so we can rejuvinate, replenish, and pick up our practice as spiritual warriors, clear, sharp and ready to fight for the freedom of all living beings tomorrow.

Studies have shown that 1 hour of yoga nidra equates to 4 hours of deep sleep! So in times of anxiety and difficulty unwinding i’m so delighted to offer a yoga nidra session that will help you sleep like a baby.

Yoga Nidra is a state of complete bodily relaxation, in which the mind rests in a suspended state awake, yet calm, and free of all distraction. The body, senses and material mind are magnetized.

-Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati

The practice of shavasana (corpse pose) can facilitate the arising of this state. This is a yin sequence to open your heart and shoulders. The meridians that we mainly work with are for the heart, lung and small intestines. Yin yoga is so amazing complimentary effects to the more yang lifestyle and yoga practices we do. Ideally we have both energies in our life: yin is the more feminine, receptive, lunar quality and yang refers to the more active, striving, masculine energy. From a physical point of view there are aspects of the body that are more yin – the connective tissue, and aspects that are more yang, –the muscles.

Long held postures to release tension and return to our Yin nature.

for this 75 min Jivamukti Open level class, the asana is oriented around inverting and backbending and then we put it all together with scorpion (Vrschikasana). You will need some wall space for the second half of class and a sense of adventure.

the dharma of this class is inspired by Simon Haas’ imagery around being in the here and now, and we chant a traditional mantra to the guru:

om ajnana-timirandhasya / jnananjana-salakaya / cakshur unmilitam yena / tasmai sri-gurave namahI offer my respectful obeisances unto my spiritual master, who has opened my eyes, which were blinded by the darkness of ignorance, with the torchlight of knowledge.

to protect our world, it's important to make the "field of now" a sacred space, free from negativity.if someone carefully protects this space- the field of now -she protects the full extent of her perceptual universe. this is because all of life unfolds in one place only; the here and now.this is the arena of life.

This is a dynamic Jivamukti Open level class, the asana is oriented around hip opening, we do a lot of prep for padmasana (lotus) and we bring in some balance with lift to the tip-toes, Ardha Baddha Padma Padangusthasana!

the class is inspired by these words from Sharon Gannon’s focus of the month:When someone is enraptured by prema that love for the divine, that mood or bhava, overflows into love for all beings. In Sanskrit, this is called sarvatmabhava and it is what allows the person to become released from the clutches of avidya. When avidya lifts, the jiva understands that they are not their body or mind, this comprehension, instead of increasing self-importance makes one more humble. Humility is a winning ticket for the soul who yearns for yoga—for enlightenment.

This is a dynamic Jivamukti Open level class, the asana is oriented around hip opening, kurmasana is the peak posture. We explore the teachings of the Demi-Goddess Saraswati Devi, and our very lives as Political action. "Politic refers to the tribe, the people, the other folk we live and thus interact with on all levels. We live under the same sun, we breathe the same air, we drink the same water. Our individual actions affect the communal sun, air and water. Reflecting upon that - it becomes apparent that all actions are political. We can’t help but to be political. Everything each of us does as individuals affects the whole. To be politically active is to be conscious of how your actions affect the community and to strive to improve and contribute to the enhancement of that community. Yoga teaches that we have an individual body and a universal body, and when we perceive and care for both equally—when we try to see ourselves in others—then we are moving toward the enlightened state" -David Life AT THE BEGINNING OF THE PRACTICE WE CHANT: Om A-eem Saraswatayai Namaha Om “Om and salutations to the bestower of wisdom, intelligence, knowledge and creative artistic energy.” to find creative solutions to challenges which arise.

This strong and well rounded Jivamukti Yoga practice gives some extra attention to opening the hip, an area relating to karmic ties with past lovers, business/creative partners, those we were very close to. We explore the ideas of softening to the challenges of life, rather than turning the other way. “Most of us do not take these situations as teachings. We automatically hate them. We run like crazy. We use all kinds of ways to escape -- all addictions stem from this moment when we meet our edge and we just can't stand it. We feel we have to soften it, pad it with something, and we become addicted to whatever it is that seems to ease the pain.” -Pema Chodron

This class draws inspiration from a past Jivamukti Focus of the Month essay written by David Life. Physically the emphasis is deep in backbending, with the peak posture bringing us in to a variation of eka pada rajokapatasana on the wall. There are many intermediary steps along the way in this dynamic flowing practice. Make sure you have some wall space available.

"If our desired result is to create a world where the green ones can live as free as the yellow ones and the red ones, we need to proceed carefully—one step at a time to untangle the confusion and ignorance that underlies much of the life we share on this Earth with infinite beings, who are all holy temples of an infinite Hari. Eventually, we can come to the knowledge that “otherness” itself, is avidya –misknowing. We will become aware of the ways to sift through the important ethical decisions we make every day and be sure that we do not act unconsciously with biases wired invisibly and arbitrarily into our nervous system by each other, and the larger culture. As we make the important decisions that each of us need to make, we must pray for the grace to make the right decision, the conscious choice: to be kind and compassionate." Yoga Nidra for spiritual renewal.

Through deep relaxation, a state of Yoga Nidra arises, which can lead to kaivalyam, or samadhi, in which the sense of individualization merges with absolute, transcendental joy. The practice of shavasana (corpse pose) can facilitate the arising of this state. But for success in shavasana, you have to understand, as Shri Brahmananda suggests, “how to use fixation, suggestion and sensation, and how to use the proper pause for time.”

This class was recorded as Instagram Live, on the event of a SuperMoon! just get cozy and let go. During a time while we are mainly staying at home, let us stay connected through practice and reverence. Join along and breathe with us. 💛 Donations are greatly appreciated to keep things going financially while external work is on hold.

This class builds heat with some balancing postures at the beginning and then ends up cooling down with a deep pranayama practice to slide us in to savasana and meditation. Appropriate for all levels, share the link and practiec with a friend. We are inspired by the tolerance of a tree. A tree will stand in the scorching sun to give shade to others. A tree will bear the freezing cold of the winter and give wood to create heat for all. A tree will silently give up even its life for someone to build a comfortable house with. That is tolerance.

Who is a great personality? One who is more tolerant than a tree. This may seem impossible, but it is actually our nature. Where there is love, spiritual love, there is unlimited tolerance and humility.

at the beginning of the class we chant:

yaṁ hi na vyathayanty etepuruṣaṁ puruṣarṣabhasama-duḥkha-sukhaṁ dhīraṁso ’mṛtatvāya kalpate

The person who is not disturbed by happiness and distress and is steady in both is certainly eligible for liberation.

THE PRACTICE OF YIN YOGA IS A WONDERFUL TOOL TO EMBRACE OUR SOFTER, INTUITIVE SIDE. IT HELPS TO STRENGTHEN OUR INTUITION, WHICH LEADS TO MORE COURAGE TO FOLLOW OUR HEART AND LIVE OUR DREAMS. YOU CAN LEARN TO MAKE CHOICES BY OBSERVING MORE CLEARLY, BY ACCEPTING AND EMBRACING CHANGE.

The word solstice comes from the Latin roots sol, meaning sun, and stitium, meaning to stop or be still. With unassuming clarity, these etymological elements describe the precise moment of a solstice when our radiant solar star appears to pause in the sky as its trajectory undergoes a perceived directional shift. This cosmic pause welcomes our attention as we prepare to enter the next cycle of our planet’s breathwave.

at the beginning of the class we chant: OM Tryambakam yajambahe, sugandhim pushti vardanam, urva rukhamiva bhandanan, mrtyor mukshi amamritat, swaha! This class was recorded as Zoom a call. In order to have change in the world around us, we have to inspire change within us. The world outside of us is a manifestation of the world within us. This class has an emphasis on inversions, shapes which bring a new world view. if we look deeply at the hurt and violence in the world we can see there is a common thread that underlies all of these incidents, and that underlies all violence, and that thread is not generally recognized in the media and public discourse: a sense of separation from others—separation of one human from another, of humans from other animals, and of humans from the Earth.

As soon as they hit the border of the pond they start to come back to the original spot. So every action we’ve done in this life and past lives are inside this body. The results are the restrictions, the tightness, the closed mind. The inability to be creative, spontaneous and to invent new possibilities is because of those past actions. The yoga practice allows you to bring those past actions to completion. Get them out of there!
