In Baseball... The NL East Race is TIGHTER... the AL East Race portends to be TIGHTER with the Sawks and Yanks battling the Rays... anyone else paying attention in Baseball? NOPE... most folks have turned to FOOTBALL ... But they got rid of Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and the No. 22 pick in Thursday night's NBA draft... personally I think they're gonna IMPLODE... THANK GOODNESS at least we have THE OLYMPICS to add to our 'sports talk' as it'd be kinda thin considering we've already crowned the Bucks and Lightning.... baseball is lumbering along.... and of course we ALL are waiting on TRAINING CAMPS TO START for the NFL.
We DID talk about the Olympics of course... it was A SHOCK of sorts that Katie Ladecki LOST... well.... she got the Silver... in her event. What was MORE OF A SHOCK was the PUTRID showing of USA Basketball against the French. RUFKM?!?!? But at least the US Swim Team CHARGED UP WINNING in many of the events, to include the 4 X 100 Relays. USA... USA... USA!!
As you can see, I was wearing my Phillies football-type jersey because I'm stoked they split with the Braves... and retained 2nd place in the NL East. Can anyone catch the Mets? It remains to be seen... and the Rays took 3 out of 4 from the Indians (soon to be Guardians). The SOX came back and beat the Yank-me's.... but honestly NY is starting to suck like they did in the 1970's. For those that DON'T KNOW... yes the Yanks SUUUUUUUUCKED in the early 70's. Their main news items were two pitchers SWAPPING WIVES!!! I'm TOTALLY SERIOUS... I think Mike Kekich was one of the pitchers... can't remember the other one. LOL.

Novak Djokovic won his 20th Men's Grand Slam Title, taking Wimbledon for the third time in a row - Joining Borg, Sampras, Nadal, Becker and McEnroe. His 20 Slams tie him with Federer and Nadal...
Italy beat the host United Kingdom in the Euro Soccer Final 3-2 on Penalty Kicks (the game was tied 1-1 after the end of regulation) while Argentina beat Brazil in the other Major Soccer Match of the season.
And yes... my Phillies took two of three from the Red Sox. Can they get into the Playoffs this year? I'm saying NO... but I hope I'm wrong.

Speaking of Finals... how about Phoenix taking on Milwaukee... and Chris Paul's FIRST NBA Finals appearance? It's FATHER'S DAY 2021... and we didn't have any PERFECT GAMES like Jim Bunning threw for the Phillies against the Mets in 1964 - Although the Mets lost today like they did in '64 and the Phillies were PERFECT today... perfectly AWFUL against the Giants in San Francisco right after playing the Dodgers in L.A. the series before, winning exactly one game out of each three game series.
In other sports, Jon Rahm won the U.S. Open today in Torrey Pines... after he was made to bow out a few weeks ago because of COVID. That's a feel good story if I do say so myself. The Habs are playing the Knights presently after beating them two straight games in their Western Conference Finals... can VGK tie it up like the Islanders did last night against the defending Stanley Cup champ Lightning? We'll see during the show...

Yes, there was a basketball game tonight, too.... ((yawwwwwn...)) and we'll talk about it IF you wish (and I'm feeling masochistic). Guess the masochist in me won out... as we saw the Hawks beat the Sixers to face the Bucks in the East finals upcoming.
Of course FOOTBALL is always on our minds 7/24/365.25 out of the year... and to start out the show it was a GREAT THRILL to be joined by Ken Thomson of SportsX Radio / KDWN in Vegas... who brought some great tidbits about Solomon Thomas and our Raiders, along with some great insight about the Golden Knights.... Hey at least the Yankees turned a Triple Play during action before tonight's show...

In the other Hockey series, the Vegas Golden Knights will play the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night upcoming... in the NBA, the Bucks tied up their series with the Brooklyn Nets, mainly because the Nets' big-time players (Harden, Irving and Griffin) are in various states of injury. Phoenix will look to close out the Nuggets while our show is on... the Sixers are up 2-1 over the Hawks (winning game the other day), and lastly the Clippers look to even their series against the Jazz... both of THOSE game are on Monday.
In baseball, the RAYS are MLB's BEST while the Giants are the best in the NL... other division leaders are the Mets and Brewers in the Senior circuit and the White Sox and A's in the Junior AL. The Wild Cards are TIGHT all across baseball... and it won't get really testy until AFTER the All-Star Break... moved to Denver due to Politics from previously scheduled Atlanta... I'd LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE to talk about THAAAAAAAAAAAAT but Political stuff gets downright NASSSSSSSSTY on here... I'm just gonna say Baseball bowed to the Snowflake society and leave it at that...

Currently I'm watching the Lakers getting blown out by 21points in the first half against the Suns, where a few Lakers fans have ALREADY thrown in the towel. BYE BYE LEBUM... if not Tonight.... SOOOOOOON!!
We chatted about the Astros keeping it tight in the AL West... The Rays still the best in the AL OVERALL.... I even checked on my Phillies who have been HOT/COLD this year. What's new, right?

So the Hockey and Basketball playoffs are in FULL TILT. The Stanley Cup Champion Lightning made it to the next round following a tough battle with intrastate rivals the Panthers from Miami. The Islanders dispatched the Penguins, so I KNOW we'll hear from Jared and Jimmy soon. Boston threw the Crapitals (SIC) out of the rounds, so it'll be BOSTON VS the ISLES... and VGK and the Wild will go to SEVEN GAMES!!
In Basketball, the Sixers are up 2-0... the Lakers under LeBum (SIC) tied up their series with the Suns... THE Mavs and Nets are also up 2-0 in their series. It's looking to me (so far) like a SIxers/Nets tilt in the East... am I wrong? A few of our guests actually TALKED about Basketball, with Xavier from Boston stating the Celts would WIN IN 6... Jesse AND Kurtz stated LAKERS IN 5!! Brass balls!! Gotta Love it!!
In Baseball, the NL East is TIGHT AF, with First to Last place only a 3.5 game spread. While we're talking the East - but in the Junior Circuit, the RAYS have the BEST RECORD IN THE AL... with the surprising (well NOT really surprising) Padres having the BEST RECORD IN BASEBALL out in the NL West, with the Giants and Dodgers both a game back.

And as of this writing, the Lightning are winning 5-4 in Game 3 Third Period, The Pens/Isles and Knights/Wild series tied at a game a piece, and Boston leads two games to one over the Caps.
Baseball has 'settled down' a bit, and yes, the BBall Playoffs have started with play-in games... Did you see the shot by 'Bron last night to beat the Warriors? Hate LeBron but great shot...

For example, it came out TODAY that Notre Dame Linebacker and assumed First Round Pick Jeremiah Owusu Koramoah has a heart issue, which explains his drop in the draft. Could you see the Raiders picking ANOTHER Athlete with a heart issue? First off, they lost Leon Bender, a second round pick from UW decades ago, who died tragically before he got to training camp... and drafted First Round CB D.J. Hayden and DT Maurice Hurst, another assumed high draft pick who ended up being grabbed in the 4th round... because of a heart issue. See? Sometimes you just gotta wait and see what happens and WHY?!?!?!

Listen... unless you have spent the last 7months immersed in a film room going over countless video from EVERY draft eligible participant for this past draft... ok Jason Dean Hunter, you're ALMOST excused as you're the closest I know... then I don't give a FLYING FOXTROT what you think about YOUR Team's draft class! Even Raiders' GM Mike Mayock put out words to that affect when speaking to the NFL Network's Pete Schrager following up on what the Raiders did the last few days... YOU TELL 'IM MIKE!!
It usually takes at least three years to get a 'feel' for how your team did for a particular draft, so using that as a standard, we can go back to the draft of 2018 or earlier and give true draft grades. For Raider fans (they'll be my example) only first rounder Tackle Kolten Miller (STARTER SINCE DAY ONE), OL Brandon Parker (why does he still have a job?) and Marcel Ateman (bounced around from Practice Squad to Roster these last three years) remains.... so yeah, THAT DRAFT Aside from Miller SUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKED.

Since I was dutifully broadcasting and only kept a cursory eye on the screen, you'll have to tell me how many of those "Holier Than Though" Speeches actually were given....
Hockey is down to its last ten games before the Playoffs, so seating strategy is in FULL SWING. I'm still stoked about seeing how my team can improve for next year... is YOUR TEAM going to be playing past May? Baseball is nearly finishing its first month of the season, and the A's have made great strides since their beginning nose-dive... while the Yankees are a surprise out of the gate in all the wrong ways (although they took 3 of 4 in Cleveland this weekend. The Jays/Rays met in Tampa with Toronto showing who's boss in the AL East.
Having said all that, tonight's discussion centered on.... guess what.... FOOTBALL. First off, our deepest condolences go out to the Davis family in Arizona and throughout the country, as we learned tonight we lost a truly good soul and dynamic supporter of Raider Nation in #36... Hero of that frigid cold Playoff game in Cleveland... "RED RIGHT 88" and THE INTERCEPTION most famous in Raiders' lore prior to Jack Squirek's in Super Bowl XVIII and after Willie Brown's in Super Bowl XI.
On a personal note, I was humbled to learn of my upcoming honor scheduled for Raider Nation Explosion II this July in Madera, California... and I thank Mob Boss for telling me over my show... it truly was and will remain a humbling honor... and I thank YOU Raider Nation as well as M&M Productions. Yes, it was a relatively SLOOOOOOOW Thursday, but I was GRATEFUL to watch a FLYERS WIN over the Hated Pens Tonight! Awesomeness... yes, a Shoot Out "W" so the Pens get a point as well.... but it's ALWAYS fantastic to beat the Pens. Unfortunately for the Flyers, it won't be enough to make the Playoffs.... heard it RIGHT HERE... may not have heard it here FIRST.... but you heard it from ME HERE... FIRST.
We went over ALL the sports tonight... had our Pittsburgh report from Jared (before the Flyers beat them....lol) as well as hearing from Houston Raider Steve. We BITCHED A LOT about APPLE... sorry to say, since many folks who use APPLE want to become members to my YouTube channel and Apple just won't allow that to happen!! CURSES!!
In baseball we watched the end of the extra-inning Rays / Rangers game with the Rangers winning in the 10th. Honestly I like the way extra innings starts with a runner on 2nd... and many 'old timers' don't like that new rule, but I'm "DIFFERENT" from Old Timers in that way. Hey, I even could dig an ALL BLACK RAIDERS' ALTERNATE UNIFORM!!
So we discussed the Flyers.... Phillies... Rays... Pens... Lakers and Warriors in the NBA... the NFL Draft... the standings in the NHL and MLB... and DUUUUUUUUUUH WE TALKED ABOUT THE RAIDERS!! Yes... Tonight it's the NBA All-Star Game... but honestly I haven't watched an NBA All-Start Game intently since Jordan last played... maybe Kobe. But I'm MORE Interested in what's going on with the FLYERS tonight as they host the Caps in Philly. (SPOILER ALERT.... THEY LOST after two DREADFUL periods of play... but at least we were joined by the Philly Sports Guy immediately AFTER the game! Hey HE WAS THERE... dang wish I could've been there...)
We're about 10 games into Spring Training as well. What's YOUR take on YOUR team for Baseball this season? Locally the Rays - The Defending AL Champs - have brought in some pitching to compensate for the loss of former Cy Young Winner Snell.
And yes... we're about ready for the beginning of NFL Free Agency as well. What's on YOUR mind tonight? Just ASK CAPTAIN JACK...

HOCKEY is in full swing... and the local Lightning are SCREAMING past teams while my Flyers can beat ANYONE... errrrrrrr... well anyone NOT named the Bruins! Hopefully the Orange, Black and White can get it together before the Playoffs as they'll likely face Boston eventually...

Carson "Don't Call me Johnny" Wentz is now an INDY COLT... like most of us thought! What does that do for OTHER teams looking?
And since you haven't seen/heard from me since I was physically SICK following a 'Big NFL Game' a few weeks ago, figured if you had any OTHER things to discuss... yep... we can do that too. Besides, the FLYERS are back playing tonight... YAYYYYYY.

Hello Raider Nation... It's come down to our LAST GAME for the Raiders for the 2020 Season... but TECHNICALLY it is the FIRST GAME (Literally and Figuratively) for 2021 for the Raiders.
People are saying LOSE to get a Higher Draft pick. Well, honestly... if you think the CHARGERS are going to beat the Chiefs... IN KANSAS CITY... for their last game? Ummmmmm... that'd be the ONLY way I'd consider not beating the Donkeys in OUR game. Let's get to 8-8 and go from there. I feel the Chargers will STILL pick ahead of the Raiders even IF we're both 7-9. I may be wrong... but it's still likely.
WIN IN 2021. Get a REAL DEFENSE with a Defensive Coordinator with some chutzpah (look it up if you're not into Yiddish). BE AGGRESSIVE. And draft/get DEFENSIVE HELP in Free Agency this off-season. THAT is the ONLY WAY the Raiders will be a RELEVANT team in 2021.

We've seen some serious slippage... even though I HAAAAAAAAAATE Colin Cowturd, I caught some of his show today... and it is TRUE... THE RAIDERS under Jon Gruden are a HORRIFIC DECEMBER TEAM. THAT is COACHING... no doubt in my mind.
So what will the Raiders do the final two weeks of the season? It all starts with a DEFACTO Playoff Game on Saturday (and will be - in my estimation - the ONLY Playoff Game they'll be in this year) with a Prime Time contest VS. a Dolphins team I scouted personally (calling their game on the Apple COLORCAST App this past Sunday) ... and MIAMI is a team who plays hard... together... and WANTING MORE.
