Isaac, Olivia, and Walker (and eventually Walter and a surprise special guest) tackle Tom Holland's fourth outing as Spidey, now officially the most-tenured web-slinger of all time, fresh off a $972 million opening weekend. Sony's product placement is somehow more shameless than ever, LeBron James gets dragged for slander against Memphis, and the crew settles into a full ranking of every live-action Spider-Man movie ever made (number one will SHOCK YOU). Also covered: 3D vs. Dolby, the merits of the Amazing suit, and why nobody should ever be allowed to helicopter into their own city again.
We’ve got another OW episode coming at ya. Olivia and Walker discuss the 2024 3-part documentary, Ren Faire. Why? Well they just love a good renaissance festival. Big renaissance people. Actually, it’s in preparation for the release of Lance Oppenheim’s film, Prime Time. Join OW as they discuss the intricacies of the Texas Renaissance Faire and the man behind it all, known as King George.
On this epic journey, your co-hosts navigate Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. They venture through the cast, the score, and the monumental filmmaking process.
Walker and Olivia are inviting you to an episode covering The Invite (2026). This film is receiving rave reviews from Hollywood, but how will this movie be received in the flyover states? Tune in to hear what our co-hosts think. You might be surprised by the opposing takes.
Isaac isn't on this episode but here's what he thinks about all this: "If I were making the description it would be about how annoying it is that invitation has been shortened to invite. Invite is a verb, not a noun."
A quick and non-comprensive list of topics covered in this grab-bag episode:
Walter is back this week and we'll see how it goes !!!
Tune in to hear Walker and Isaac explain Disclosure Day to Olivia and praise Courtney Grace's amazing performance!
Walker and Isaac discuss a plethora of topics in this rare duo outing. Tune in to hear more!
The Devil Wears Prada is an American metalcore band from Dayton, Ohio, formed in 2005. They derived their band name from the novel of the same title.[2] At one time known as a Christian metalcore band, it consists of members Mike Hr-
oh my bad I thought Isaac and Olivia did a whole episode talking about one of the most influential Christcore bands to ever hit the scene. Sorry about that. This one's about the new movie with Princess Mia and that one actress who played Mamma Mia.
(Walter wrote this. I'm back now)
Mother Mary is the new film from David Lowery, director of A Ghost Story, The Green Knight, and Pete's Dragon. This movie is a chamber piece drama two hander with Anne Hatheway as a troubled mega popstar and Michaela Coel as her estranged friend and former stylist. We all had strong responses to this movie and it is a meaty subject for discussion. Tune in to hear more!
The Bodyguard is a 1992 drama action starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner. We recorded it like four weeks ago and no one really remembers what we discussed BUT its the first one with just Olivia and Isaac in a MINUTE -- so tune in to hear more!
The Drama is one of the best - and most provocative - films of 2026 thus far. Starring Robert Pattinson and Zendaya as an engaged couple disentangling terrible secrets mere days before their wedding, this film feels like a classic psychological drama. They really don't make them like they used to, folks. Tune in to hear more!
Here who comes? It'd be nice if the title of the movie told us who was coming. Clearly it's in first person so it's spoken direclty from the perspective of the person saying it. So THAT person is coming, but we don't know who THAT person is. What am I supposed to do with this information? Because also, consider this: it doesn't matter if I'm ready or not. We started with that. Ready or not? Doesn't matter, obviously. So SOME person is coming but we don't know WHO it is and it doesn't matter if we're ready or not. Huh.
Walker and Olivia talk about this movie, though.
Amaze, amaze, amaze. Welcome to Walker, Olivia, and Walter glazing this movie for about an hour.
Reminders of Him is the newest film adaptation of a Colleen Hoover novel, aaaaaand we didn’t love it. Tune in to hear our thoughts, to see Walker drink a whole bottle of Jameson, and to get a better understanding of the inner mechanisms of our brains.
Once again revisiting a classic, the crew takes a close look at Blazing Saddles! This episode is rich with high-brow analysis, mind-bending cinematic lore, and a brutal critique of modern politics.
None of the above is true. Maybe you should just turn your brain off sometimes and laugh at a stupid movie.
Featuring a special guest, Zac Walthall, the team gets together to discuss the modern classic animated film, the Lego Movie! It's no Lego Batman, but it will do. Also, is everyone else tired of Chris Pratt yet?
No, we're not telling you how to make a killing! We're just talking about the movie that has that name!!!
This is what happens when you let Walter write the episode descriptions.
Welcome to another Walker and Olivia Special where we cover The Silence of the Lambs! The 1991 film is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, and we cannot express how much we love this film. We basically just glaze this movie for an hour and talk about the powerhouse performances from Anthony Hopkins, Jodie Foster, and Ted Levine.
Joined by a VERY special guest, the Flyover crew tackles Season 2 of the hit video game-turned Amazon Prime series, Fallout. While Walter didn't have time to talk about his celebrity crush on Ella Purnell, they did wax poetic about the connections to the games, soy faced over the plethora of fan service, and how the writers still managed to make this vast and complex world approachable to anyone who's never even played the games.
Send Help! Walker and Isaac join forces for their first outing in a crash landing deep dive into San Raimi’s latest (and, spoiler, greatest??) film. The two dissect the powerful chemistry and dynamic of Dylan O’Brien and Rachel McAdams, the wild swings, and the incredible gross out, laugh-out-loud scenes. One involves a boar. Tune in to hear more!
Do you love alien films? We love ‘em. We LOVE ‘EM.
Super 8 is a pre-Stranger Things, Spielberg-inspired, 80s-set monster movie hearkening back to an era where kids rode bikes everywhere without fear of death. Directed by J.J. Abram’s between his first and second Star Trek films, this movie is a lot of fun but doesn’t make a lot of sense? We had a great time discussing several of the child actor performances, particularly a young Elle Fanning. Tune in for more!!
We usually do this off-mic, but we thought it would be fun to bring along our faithful listeners to plan every SINGLE episode for this year, including new theatrical releases, revisiting older films, and everything in between.

Little Woods debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2018 to critical acclaim, particularly applauding Tessa Thompson and Lily James’ performances. DaCosta is directing the upcoming sequel to Captain Marvel, The Marvels, starring Brie Larson and Teyonah Parris.

After the startling reveal that Olivia is the true Scarlet Witch, Isaac dives into his many qualms with the final two episodes of WandaVision. Midnight Special is Jeff Nichol's 2016 sci-fi homage to Spielberg featuring a super-powered child, a protective father, and Adam Driver as a charming NSA agent. Released the same year as his Oscar-nominated civil rights drama Loving, Midnight Special is Nichols’ most ambitious and personal movie and strangely, his least successful. Nichols has stated in interviews that this was his least well-executed story and that he wrote it with a chip on his shoulder. Olivia, Eric and Isaac discuss this intense action movie, the story that Nichols was in the running to direct Aquaman, and A Quiet Place Part 3.
Welcome to Flyover Film Country’s third episode in the Jeff Nichols miniseries! Join them during this layover to muse on the accuracy of the Spider-Man 3 rumors featuring Maguire and Garfield, chat about how Pietro Maximoff is back from the dead (?), and hear some slight technical difficulties threaten to derail the entire recording. Thankfully, the production was saved. It truly seemed like a Westside sort of glitch in the hex. Take a listen, and be sure to share with anyone you know who loves Marvel!
"Plagued by a series of apocalyptic visions, a young husband and father questions whether to shelter his family from a coming storm, or from himself." We're stepping off the plane at Wilcox Field and headed to the Hampton house for One Night in Miami... in our earliest recorded episode ever, we kick off conversation with some 6:30am banter and then head to the tarmac to take flight into discussion about Amazon Prime's latest hit. The film is based on a play by Kemp Powers, writer of Disney+'s Soul, and directed by the fabulous Regina King. It's about a fictional encounter of a real-life night wherein Malcolm X, Sam Cooke, Cassius Clay, and Jim Brown argue for the whole night, and it's just as good as it sounds. Nearly every aspect is excellent, especially considering this is King's big screen directorial debut. We can't recommend it enough. Tune in to hear more about One Night in Miami, and also a preview for some fun episodes coming soon!
"This is one empty-ass town. If I owned this town, I'd sell it."
Flyover Film Country embarks on its first filmography mini series: the movies of director Jeff Nichols! A Little Rock native, Nichols and his small team filmed Shotgun Stories in southeast Arkansas around Keo, Scott and England in 2006. According to Nichols, Michael Shannon was always the actor in mind to play Son Hayes. Weeks after Nichols cold-called the actor to share his vision for the film, an impressed Shannon read the script and joined the cast. Eric, Olivia and Isaac discuss this incredible debut, brimming with sincerity, optimism, filmmaking prowess, and Arkansas sports talk.

This episode continues our mini-series chatting with film professionals both in Hollywood and right in our backyard. Todd Greenlee of Homefront Pictures joins us to share his experience as a production assistant on movies like Bright, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, Girls Trip, and Trumbo. He and his brother Alex are in post-production on their new movie All Eyes, which Todd directed and Alex wrote. The horror flick features a disgraced podcast host whose new story puts him in the path of a terrifying monster. We had a blast discussing the difference between filming in LA and Todd's home state of Oklahoma (flyover country!!!), his favorite directors (Paul Thomas Anderson and the Coen Brothers!!!), and what it's like filming indie movies in a COVID-19 world.
Things look different in this episode as Flyover Film Show takes you to beautiful downtown Little Rock Arkansas, filming location for "A Violent Storm". This powerful short was recently named a San Francisco Independent Short Film Festival official selection, as well as an official selection of the Independent Shorts Awards. Director Timothy Barnett, cinematographer Brad Fugere, and leading man Eric Watts discuss what it takes to turn the dream of making a film into reality, inspiration in each of their unique roles, and how spoken word informs the story and theme. Later, we're joined by two residents of Flyover Country with unique careers in Hollywood. Ben Stockton's latest Atlanta-based project was faith-based hit The Chosen, where he served as a production assistant. Whitney Butler is an alumnus of the University of Central Arkansas Digital Filmmaking Program, and after graduation worked in public relations in Los Angeles. We discuss drive-in movies, Academy Awards campaigns, and of course, how COVID-19 has dramatically affected their professional lives. We had such a great time conversing with these intelligent, creative individuals. Tune in to hear more!
Dr. Manhattan said, "Nothing ever ends." Well, he wasn't talking about our series covering Watchmen: this is the last episode in our mini-series. The masterful HBO show gets reviewed as Eric, Isaac, and Olivia review their top five moments from the Watchmen universe, including Zack Snyder's 2009 film, Alan Moore's graphic novel, and the 2019 HBO series. We also cut loose a little bit! You'll hear the gang give their dream casting for an older version of Nite Owl II, an ad read from a guest who was supposed to be killed by Dr. Manhattan, and Eric and Isaac's love of The Irishman.
Watchmen grapples with nearly every difficult topic, and this episode finds our three hosts unraveling the series' thoughts on God, religion, and philosophy. Ozymandias, Dr. Manhattan, and Laurie Blake all have different takes. Amazon's The Boys also gets a bunch of coverage as there are interesting parallels between S1E5 featuring the "Believe Expo" and Olivia's personal experience with religion.
Episode 3 continues the team's dive down the rabbit hole of weighty themes found in the HBO Watchmen mini-series, this time tackling the politics of the story. And boy is there a lot to discuss. We didn't get to all of it, but Regina King's masked alter ego Sister Night is discussed (and the logic of masked cops in general), as well as police accountability, and the overall sentiment that this iteration of Watchmen was "too political." Also, we discuss Kurosawa's Throne of Blood briefly (what an ending to a movie!!!!!)
Episode 2 finds the Flyover trio diving into the gritty, ugly, uncomfortable topic of racism and how HBO's Watchmen addresses it in 2019. The series' inclusion of reparations in Tulsa as a response to the Tulsa race massacre of 1921 is a fascinating realization of the concept.
Flyover Film Show is taking off to the land of... 2019 Tulsa Oklahoma? That's right, it's time for HBO's Watchmen! We cover the history and accolades of the graphic novel source material, the 2009 Zack Snyder vision, and Damon Lindelof's sublime continuation of the alternate universe.
In the last discussion of the movie, Isaac, Olivia, and Eric discuss the cast and what they have done since Scott Pilgrim. There's even talk of them reprising their roles for an animated series. Thank you for joining us on this journey, and we hope you stick around for our next series, HBO's Watchmen. First episode debuts on August 29th!
In the Scott Pilgrim vs. the Pod penultimate episode, Olivia, Isaac, and Eric team up and share their top 5 characters from Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Isaac zags hard on his #2 pick, Eric takes a stand for Rian Johnson's sci-fi flick Looper, and Olivia breaks out her therapy training to analyze a character.
Episode 5 is the big-time debut of our first guest, Eric Pham! Other than attending high school with Olivia, Eric also shares the honor of being a University of Central Arkansas Alumnus with your Flyover Film Show co-hosts. The three of them list their top five evil exes in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and there is a striking similarity between two lists in particular. Amazon's The Boys is also discussed, particularly the episode satirizing prosperity-gospel mega-churches. It's good stuff. :)
Olivia and Isaac explore the soundtrack of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, including the comic creator Bryan Lee O'Malley and director Edgar Wright's love of music. They then go battle of the bands style with their individual top tens of the best songs in the movie!
Bryan lee O'Malley's best-selling comics are the basis for the 2010 film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Olivia and Isaac break down how the two are similar and different and also get on a gripping tangent regarding supporting local libraries.
In the second episode in the Scott Pilgrim series, Olivia and Isaac take a trip down memory lane to ten years ago when the film released and try to determine exactly why the movie bombed at the box office. Exploring the world of 2010 has a lot of laughs and vivid memories.
In the first episode of Flyover Film Show, co-hosts Isaac and Olivia share the vision of the show: the perspective of movies and Hollywood from two people living in the south. This episode is an introduction to the show itself and an overview of the first series: Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. They talk about the first time they saw it and read some testimonies (both positive and negative) of the movie from their friends and family.
Flyover Film Show is a podcast about movies from the perspectives of two people who live in places oft-forgotten by Hollywood. We keep up with the goings-on in Hollywood but remain very much grounded in midwest America. And although we can’t just up and move to LA, we can still share our love for movies with our friends and neighbors. Olivia Clement and Isaac Sims are your cohosts!
