April 14, 2024 // Ephesians 1:3-14
Ephesians is a story of grace; God’s grace lavished on us and the way we are to lavish grace on others. Ephesians is a story of battle; battle against self-centeredness, a battle against preferential treatment, and battle against the enemy. Ephesians is a book about the church… God’s glorious and beautiful, though deeply flawed church.

March 10, 2024 // Amos 9:11-15
Israel was in a bad state. They were living in prosperous times but their religion had become rituals performed to invoke the blessing of God, much like the nations around them with their gods. Essentially, they had invented a god and God’s admonition to them is, “Seek me and live!” In addition, they were keeping the poor in poverty by stacking the decks against them. And God’s cry to them is: But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream (Amos 5:24 (ESV)).
The book of Amos is a book of grace because it is God’s warning to Israel of impending exile if they don’t repent. He gives them every opportunity to turn to him and he gives us every opportunity to turn to him.

Join us as we dive into a biblical narrative of Zaccheus. A man who had so much yet was an outcast. It was his position and struggles that led him to Jesus. It’s funny that often in our desperation we seek the Lord but often in hindsight we see it was the Lord that was seeking us all along.

What/who is the source of truth for you at this time? The media? Politicians? The government? The medical community? Social media? In this message, the case is made for absolute truth to be found in the character and actions of Jesus Christ—and in His Word. We should be challenged to regularly read, meditate upon, study, and memorize passages from the Bible. We must store up biblical truth in our hearts, that we might not sin against God. All Scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, that the man and woman of God is thoroughly equipped for every good work.

What is the right response we face real, legitimate difficult things in our lives? We see the Israelites face many life-threatening situations in Exodus as they journey out of Egypt. So we face difficulty, we are called to trust in God and remember his provision.

Drawing on the Old Testament more than any other New Testament Book, it seeks to show that not only is Jesus worthy of praise and glory but it outlines how he is the reigning king that every eye shall see. He is the fulfillment of the entire Old Testament and the focal point of all of history. If you are a skeptic or an honest seeker, you cannot discard Christianity until you have explored the Jesus of the book of Revelation.

The Great Commandment calls us to love God and love others. Jesus uses the parable of the Good Samaritan to reveal that our neighbors are not always who we think they are and that we are called to be a neighbor to everyone else. So, how can we be part of God's kingdom work by being a neighbor to others?

Luke 15 records Jesus' three parables of the lost sheep, lost coin, and lost sons. Lost sons? You may have always thought there was only one Prodigal Son. But, actually, the younger brother and older brother are both lost in different senses. However, by the abundant grace of a "prodigal" God, the younger brother is actually welcomed back by the father, and the hard-hearted older brother is far away from his father. So, where are you?

Jesus' call to rest involves activity on our part. First, we must come to him. But second, he asks us to put on his yoke, which is easy and light. Why is that? Because Jesus already did all of the lifting we need to do. He lived a perfect life in our place and he died a cruel death, also in our place. So when we put on his yoke, we are actually appropriating his perfect record for ourselves. We don’t have to work for acceptance with God. We get Jesus’ yoke; the one that says “It is finished!!”

What does it mean to follow Jesus? Certainly it is more than just learning about him from his word, though it is not less than that. We believe in a robust study of God’s word. But, of course, to be a true disciple, it must drive deep down into our affections. We must learn to love him with all that we are - all our strength, soul, heart and mind! But this is not enough either. It must also affect our priorities and what we do. Are we living on purpose for the kingdom of God? All of these dovetail into each other but all originate in Jesus himself. To follow Jesus means that I follow him with my head, my heart, and my hands. We want to know Jesus, enjoy him, and follow him.

The book of John, in particular, explains his character and points us to no other conclusion than that Jesus is God, who came directly from the Father because the Father loved his own! It’s a radical message of seeing our desperate need and his outlandish love for those he came to save.

Matthew 26 // February 3, 2018
It's easy to distance ourselves and downplay our sin. When we have done wrong, we often say "that's not who I am" or "I would never do that," but the fact of the matter is, we do sin and fall short so often. But all is not lost, and there is hope because we have a savior who has freed us from our sin and given us an identity in him, not in our sin.

Hebrews 4:14-16 // January 13, 2019
When our wires get crossed, something has gone wrong. The way we know something isn’t right is by noticing the smoke of our crossed wires, whether that’s anxiety, doubt, fear, anger, or something else. We ought to use this smoke as an indicator that something is wrong in our lives and correct these crossed wires by looking to Christ, who enters into our chaos and resolves issues which otherwise would go unfixed.

2 Corinthians 1:3-7 // November 4, 2018
In times of suffering and struggle, it often feels so easy to turn towards false hopes and away from God for comfort. But God is the source of all comfort, and he embraces us in a blanket of comfort in times of struggle. In doing so, he gives us power to pass his comfort to others who are struggling by sharing our struggles with one another. In doing so, it not only lessens these struggles for ourselves, but also for others who are going through hardships.

Matthew 6:19-24 // October 28, 2018
The essence of the gospel is God’s generosity to us in sending his Son to be a sacrifice for our sins. He gave everything so that we might become joint heirs with Christ. This means that everything we have belongs to Him. We long to be a generous church that gives of its resources and its time to help anyone in need and in so doing, reflect in a small way the overwhelming generosity of our Savior.

Isaiah 61:1-3 // October 21, 2018
God is the very definition of beauty, from the world he created to Jesus' sacrificial love on the cross. Beauty draws us in, as it captures the human imagination, especially through the arts. As a result, artists are often very influential in a society. With that in mind, our desire is to promote the arts for a couple of reasons: First, beauty in and of itself is a reflection of the character and nature of God. Second, the arts break down barriers for us to further the Kingdom of God.

Jeremiah 29:4-14 // October 14, 2018
The mission of the church is spreading the kingdom of God. Whether we are at work or at play; whether we are at home with our families or in the marketplace; whether we are on vacation or on a business trip, our first priority is the kingdom of God. We long to make the one that has transformed us known to those that do not know him. We are, indeed, ambassadors for Christ!

Psalm 62 // September 30, 2018
The big question in the Christian life is how to settle the restlessness in our souls. In the midst of a “hurry, hurry” world, we need to help one another find rest in a restlessness. Jesus is the only one that promises true rest. As we push one another to follow Jesus, we remind each other of the rest that he promises!

Colossians 1:28 - 2:7 // September 16, 2018
No one is an island. To grow in Christ we need each other. While a personal relationship with Jesus is vital, we also need others to speak into our lives so that we can grow in ways that would not happen alone. We believe in purposeful relationships and gospel conversations with spiritual inquiry to help one another follow Jesus.

Psalm 95 // September 9, 2018
The Bible teaches that all of life is worship and the Lord dwells in the praises of his people. God’s people coming together to worship him with a united voice is a beautiful and necessary part of the Christian life. Coming together to worship is a key element in helping one another follow Jesus.

Revelation 7:9-17 // October 7, 2018
The picture in Revelation of the throne room of God includes people from every tongue, tribe, people and nation. Our desire is to reflect the throne room in our church by providing a place for all peoples to come and be celebrated as we unite behind and worship the one that created a world of such diversity.

1 Corinthians 13 // September 23, 2018
Love is a central part of Christianity and is not something that happens passively. Rather, it is an action which we need to choose daily. Love in action doesn't have to be drastic, but it often manifests as small acts of kindness that make each other's lives a little better.
