We hear many stories of the trials families are experiencing and many stories about the trials single parents are experiencing. These are real and legitimate struggles, but not one is talking about the struggles single people are experiencing. Being alone, not seeing anyone and not talking to anyone directly takes a tremendous toll on one's emotional and mental well-being. Today I spoke candidly about my experiencing as a single person living alone and the loniliness I have experienced.

On this episode of the Joyful Living Podcast, I spoke with Shelda Askew of S & K Caring 4 Life.

Shelda spoke with us at length about her experience with drug addiction, recovery, overcoming embarrassment and dual diagnosis of drug addiction and mental illness and how the two are related.

If you are interested in becoming a peer support specialist, visit www.skcaring4life.com to schedule training.

**Please note that Authors and Arts Studio, our location sponsor, is located next door to a church. They were having service the night of our podcast recording. I had two options  1. Not air the podcast because of the background noise and perhaps miss the opportunity to help someone battling addiction.  2. Post the video even though it is not perfect and provide someone with the information they need.  I chose to help someone instead of focusing on my ego.  Above all things I pray that God uses me to help others. I will not allow anything or anyone or background noise to stop me from sharing information that might save a life.
