Today's episode isn't meant to teach you or tell you what to do. Today I'm sharing my experience with the question "should we have more kids?". This was a long process of making a decision. I had to take a look at expectations of myself from every direction. I share with you interesting thoughts I found influencing my decision on autopilot, and how I made a decision that I'm confident in.

This episode is a little out of the norm for me, but maybe, just maybe, It'll help someone who is in similar waters. Love you all!

This week we're taking a spiritual dive into trials. I'm pulling out a message I gave years ago to my church congregation. I love intertwining my knowledge of how our minds work and my knowledge of the divine. Many of these thoughts provide comfort and direction in times of deep sorrow and trial. I hope this message gives you inspiration and insight in your own trials, and how to find more peace amidst the struggle.

When dealing with a bad guy in your story or trying to get past judgment of one you love... This is the starting point that creates so much authentic change. Our self preserving brain wants to start on the actions and words to make a situation right. We want to know how to act and what to do about this person or situation..

But I promise the one place that will make this process a little easier for you is to soften your view of the villian.

If you can get past that outer layer where we want to defend and judge, the inner core creates compassion and empathy.

When you change YOUR state of being, the actions to take and the words to say flow a little easier.

Listen in to understand the outer layer and inner core.

I've noticed a habit among myself and my peers. Social media and amazing inventions like Amazon have brought so many good things to the world. But it's easy to get stuck in a habit of consuming. Seeing homes, fashion, and even bodies, at their best angel, in their best moment... It's easy for our brains to find fault in our surroundings, causing discontentment.

So today's episode I want to share with you my year of learning to create more contentment in my own life.

It's officially season two of The Mind Management Podcast! I want to start us off with a little love note, from me to you.

I've noticed a tone among the women I'm lucky enough to come in contact with. They all have felt a pull lately, almost a grand calling... To create something beautiful. For some it's within the 4 walls of their homes, and for others it stretches to people they might not even know.

But, the minute they start working toward bringing that vision to life, the resistance sets in. Of course it does. In today's podcast I speak to any of you who are also in the trenches of creating. I'll discuss two of my favorite ways to think about this expected resistance. I hope it finds you at the right time. I hope it gives you a little encouragement when times seem difficult.

Last week I heard the phrase "drop the should's and pick up the want to's" at the exact time I was teaching a class on our "shoulds". Then I started to notice it in coaching calls with clients. I started to get curious about WHY we do this to ourselves.

Once we gain understanding it becomes so much easier to deescalate and respond intentionally!

Hey, today I'm going to invite you to reevaluate those thoughts that served you SO well in the past. Sometimes, we outgrow thoughts. Kind of like our favorite pair of shoes as a child. When we first get them they're a little bit big and unfamiliar with so much wiggle room.. Then soon enough we've grown a little, they're broken in, and they become our FAVORITE go to shoe... But we continue to grow, and eventually they start causing us a little more discomfort.. and if we try to hold onto them it will certainly turn into pain.

This is exactly how some of our thoughts work.

This week we're talking about the all to common habit of "compare and despair". We look at what it is, why our brains like it so much, and what it creates for us.  Once we understand it, we look into how we can CHANGE that habit to something that serves us better.

We're not taught how to process our emotions. Along with that we have a cellphone in our hands to distract us from the need to process an emotion. Because of this we DON'T KNOW HOW to feel those uncomfortable emotions. They become something we fear terribly, so we try to manipulate, and control our surroundings and the people around us to avoid feeling them.

Here's the good news.

We are designed to be able to feel our uncomfortable emotions. It doesn't mean anything has gone wrong.

In this podcast I'll show you a process to walk you through feeling a negative emotion.

It's not fun, it doesn't feel great. But when we allow ourselves to go into our body and see what it's like to actually feel that emotion, it's cleansing.
