We are blessed with an opportunity to serve our community through the Interfaith Shelter program, an initiative dedicated to assisting our unhoused neighbors. From March 9th to 23rd, we will open our doors to individuals who are working towards a life beyond homelessness. This is a chance for us to extend our compassion and support in tangible ways. Shannon interviews Elizabeth Lou from Nile Sisters. Nile Sisters Development Initiative aids newcomers and migrants to San Diego beyond the initial allocation period. We also assist refugee and immigrant families who experience difficulties after assimilation. Since 2001, Nile Sisters has served thousands of refugees and immigrants.

On the recent mission trip to Malawi, Pastor Paul got to sit down with the new Lingadzi CCAP Church Pastor D.F. Salimoni. Rev. Salimoni had only been at the post for four weeks but he brings an incredible ministry of prayer, healing, and blessing to both the church and to La Jolla's visit.

Since 1983, The Ladle Fellowship has served San Diego's homeless community with hot meals and clothing.
However, for many people on the streets, the lack of hope is an even greater risk factor than lack of proper food, shelter, and clothing. By sharing God's gospel of grace, and living God's law of love, the Ladle Fellowship gives help and hope to those on the edge of society in our city.

The restaurant and hospitality industry is the largest in the country by a magnitude of 2x and is growing faster than any other. Yet – in addition to many truly amazing people – this one industry is the catch basin in our nation for all of the most vulnerable demographics. Including single parents, income insecure seniors, at-risk teens, immigrants, and those formerly incarcerated ready to make a new start. This concentration is the result of some very good news… anyone willing to work can get a job. But put so many at-risk individuals together under one roof and it is not surprising that this industry has the highest rates of people struggling with alcohol and drug addiction, massive amounts of divorce and broken relationships, redline stress levels, job instability, rapid turnover, and almost no safety net.
Yet, because this is the HOSPITALITY industry, these employees must have smiles on their faces to greet the rest of us. This causes their stunning level of need to rarely be noticed.
