Be a part of the building of the Kingdom. I Cor 3:10-15. As people we tend to value the right now over the future. Prov. 13:15. Are you spending your life asking the question right now OR what then? Investing. 10/10/80 principal. Choose to put God first. Don't worry about tomorrow BUT care and plan for tomorrow.
Eph. 2:10, Matt 25:14-30. Talent - the value of currency measured by weight of gold or silver. It's only in finding Christ that we find our true worth. We lose in life when we make life a competition.
Luke 2:8-11. We all struggle to remember what Christmas is all about. To understand the significance of the event, you havre to understand the importance of the invitation. Numbers 13:28-33. It's not enough to believe in God's promises. You have to believe in His preferences.
How we find hope. Where we find hope. Through Jesus and other people. Rom. 8:28. God's "signal" is always good. If your connection is faulty, you are going to struggle. How do you establish good connections in your life? II Tim. 1:6. Have someone you can be transparent with. A good relationship involves effort for all involved. Ask for help. You can't do it alone. Being around other people is a good "mirror" to fully realize our spiritual status.
Gal 5:16-17, Fruit of the Spirit Gal 5:22. If change is the fruit, then what is the "seed" that starts the process? Surrender. Not try...trust. Surrender our deadlines, surrender our heart. You get into and out of things the same way...one step at a time. Real change is only revealed through testing.
A gentle hand will help you get what you want. Don't kick the bee hive. Encouraging speaking will bring out creative thinking in people and team spirit. Rudeness does the opposite. Prov. 30:32. Hold your tongue. 33 forcing wrath leads to strife. 1) Analyze.Look at what and why. 2) Extrapolate. If this, then that. Prov 4:26. 3) Prioritize. What do you want? 4) Navigate. How are you going to get it?
Rom 12:2. If you can win the battle within, it will make you better equipped to win the battle outside. Often, it is our memory of a habit, behavior, or sin that is holding ups back from freedom or victory. Do not be conformed to the world's value. Focus on godly values. Rom 10:9-10. The heart believes, the mouth professes. Sanctification is a process of changing. The mind is the key. This is not mind over matter; it is trusting God. It is capturing thoughts and bringing them into submission to scripture. 80% of our daily thoughts are negative. Negative thoughts can never lead to a positive life.
Taking up the fight within. How do we win this war within? It's going to take some heart. Pro. 4:23 - guard your heart. Noting great has ever been done with 1/2 a heart.
Acts 1:4-5. Gifts of the Holy Spirit are supernaturally empowered. How do we stay filled? By letting Him remind us that we have been gifted with salvation. II For. Because He does us. It is not something we earn. Sin doesn't affect our forgiven status but it affects our relationship status. He reminds us of our purpose. We receive it by grace. I For. 12:7-11. There are 9 gifts of the Spirit. He reminds us of our potential. Relationship with Him requires us to empty ourselves so He can fill us. Keep being filled.
Acts 1:4-5. The gift of the Holy Spirit is supernatural, empowered by the Holy Spirit. How do we receive this impartation? He reminds us that we have been gifted with salvation. II Cor. Because He loves you. It is something you cannot earn. Sin doesn't affect your forgiven status, but it affects your relationship status. He reminds us of our purpose. We receive it by grace I For 12:-11. There are 9 gifts of the Spirit. He reminds us of our potential. Relationship is required. It takes an emptying out of self so He can fill us. We need to keep being filled, continually.
Mark 12. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind. Love one another. We receive grace from God and pour out to others. Ephesians 2:6-10. The world view is you have significance by achievement. You are self made. Then you are accepted. The kingdom view is grace. We all need a savior. It starts with acceptance. Ps. 139:15 Jesus was continually sustained by the Holy Spirit.
Mark 4:35-41. The Storm. 1) Why are you so afraid? Everyone has storms. We must FAITH the storms in our lives. Physical, mental, spiritual, relational. Storms come like waves. I Peter 4:12. Don't be surprised. Praise God that you bear the name christian. 2) Jesus permits storms to test our faith. I Peter 1:17. a. Pressure test. b. People test. c. Persistence test. 3) Storms force us to cry out to Jesus. 4) Jesus will either calm the storm or He will calm you. 5) If Jesus is in your boat you know you will make it to the other side.
John 9:1-3 Blind man. Jesus healed him by putting mud in his eye and telling him to go wash it out. Jesus was hated and reviled but it didn't phase him. So many times we look at the circumstance instead of the solution to someone's pain. What are our blind spots? Confess our sins to one another so you can be healed.
I Peter 2:9 If you can talk, you can pray. Just because something is simple doesn't mean that it's easy. There's nothing more important in a relationship than communication. We are called to be a prayerful people who are pressing into God. James 5:17 Elijah. Drought. First thing he did was repair the altar which represents a place of getting right with God. A place of seeking God. 1. Prayerful people forgive. 2. Prayerful people believe. 3. Prayerful people sacrifice.
God's call to remember. The first one in the Bible is to remember the Sabbath. Josh. 24:23-27. Humans are inclined to forget what they are supposed to remember and remember what they are supposed to forget. Remembering God's faithfulness in the past builds our faith for living in the present. Blessing of remembering and freedom of forgetting. Repentance and forgiveness.
Ps. 23:5-6. The real question. The real reason, that makes it difficult is that I have to decide daily. I have to decide, will I hold onto my harp? Will I maintain my integrity? Will keep serving God? Will I keep blessing the Lord at all times? Praise. Let it go. Return to senderI Samuel 18 and 19. Generally speaking,...when you win a battle what you win is the opportunity to fight another battle. If you want peace, prepare for war. Getting a handle on difficult seasons in life, requires learning how to handle difficult people. The greatest tests of your life are not always how you handle difficulty but how you handle success. Be careful of the song of social media...the song of comparison. Comparison will make you crazy. It produces pride. It becomes about our ego.
I Samuel 30. At the endow David's life on the run he comes to Ziklag. The meaning of which is winding. David decided ahead of time how he would respond during the down times. "I will bless the Lord at all times." It is a choice beforehand. 1) Learn to encourage yourself in the Lord. 2) David inquired of the Lord. 3) Learn to interpret your steps. The key is obedience.
We are in a spiritual battle and we need to be fully equipped in that battle. II Chron. 6 - Solomon. You learn from mistakes. You gain wisdom. You can also get God's wisdom by asking (without having to make mistakes to learn.) Vs. 19-21. 1) God is waiting to hear from you. Vs. 22-23 2) God wants to help you heal your personal relationships. He wants to be involved with us being involved with other people. Vs 32-33 3) God wants to provide for you. Vs 7:14 4) God will help anyone that calls on His name.
I Sam 17. David defeats Goliath and marries King Saul's daughter. He becomes a national hero. Saul begins to see him as a threat. By I Samuel 19 David becomes a fugitive, running and hiding from Saul. I Sam. 22:1 He is overwhelmed by life. Lessons from the cave: 1 Even strong people get overwhelmed. Ps. 142:4-6. 2 Even when I am overwhelmed, God is still over all. Blind faith - close your eyes to life's problems. Biblical faith looks at reality and faces life's problems. Ps. 57:4. Shifts focus to God. Ps. 34. 3 The presence of problems does not mean the absence of God. John 20:1.
On the cross God left no doubt about His heart for you, II Sam 14:14. It is finished is a financial phrase meaning "paid in full". The cross leaves no doubt about our future with Him. Forgiven people go to heaven, not good people. Easter is God's confirmation notice.
Mark 1:14. Jesus was servant hearted and kingdom minded. In John he wrote that our best defense is our sword (the Word). Jesus said follow me and I will teach you a new way. Why is change so difficult? Good fishermen expect to catch fish. When we follow Jesus we want to do what He does. He came to rescue and redeem. Good fishermen go where the fish are. We have to go out. Matt. 28:16. Good fishermen understand how fish behave.
Worship matters. Everyone worships something. We are made for praise. Who or what will you worship? We are created to worship through singing, clapping, raising arms, Ps. 134:2. Ps 96:1-2. Your praise is God's response to Satan's rebellion. II Sam 6:12-15. The kind of worship God requires: involves sacrifice, is not about you.
I John 5:4-5. John 16. Overcome the world. Greek word "niki" means "victory" in Greek. As soon as you embrace the word of God as truth, you overcome satan. Our citizenship is in heaven. Rules to being an overcomer: Faith - believe that Jesus is the Messiah Eph 2:8, Love - Love God and His children with agape empathy, Obedience - obey His commands.
Matthew 9:9-13. Luke 10. Simplicity over complexity. First core value of our church, everyone matters. Keep the message simple. Jesus said "Follow me." With understanding comes responsibility to action. Simple does not mean the same as easy. Jesus told the law expert, "Love God. Love your neighbor." Simple, but now easy. The message is not what you need to stop doing, but what you start. The hope of Jesus is contagious. We are meant to be on the offensive and let our hope rub off on others. Matt 28:19-20.
Joshua 9:1-5. If your enemy can't bring destruction in your life, he'll settle for distraction. Joshua 9:6, 9:14-16. Joshua 10:12. There's nothing more fatiguing than fighting someone else's battle.
Joshua 1:1-8. Get ready. In a relay the passing of the baton takes places within a limited space called the "changeover box". We have a tendency to look beyond God's boundary He has for us, reaching for something that wasn't intended for us. In doing this, we don't appreciate and enjoy the blessings that are within our boundaries set by God. God puts the blessing He promised you inside the boundary He prepared for you. Ps 16:6. The key to contentment is seeing and celebrating the beauty inside your boundaries.
Eph. 1:15-23. In this message Jason makes an analogy between the prayer in Ephesians and the movie The Force Awakens. Prayer of blessing. That you would experience God's immeasurable power and fulfill God's destiny for your life. 1 )- Wake up call. Many have a past that they are trying to forget. Something gives them hope. 2) - the riches of God's glorious inheritance for the saints. Col 1:27, 3:4. 3) - God's immeasurable power.
Deut. 34:4-12, Deut. 34:6. You can't plan for it but you can PREPARE. Hebrew word "Gretan" means to weep over or to grieve a death, When we don't break free of past regrets, we "re-grieve" over and over again. Re-grieving what we had once keeps us from receiving what God has now. We get stuck. There comes a time, after a season of grieving and healing, to leave what is dead and buried and move onto the newness God has for us. God never uses what left, to bless you; He uses what's left to bless you.
Exodus 3:21-22, Deut. 29:5, I Peter 1:6-7, Exodus 35:4-5, 21-22. If you don't turn your pain into preparation and praise, you'll waste what you went through. You buried it but Good wanted you to bring it.
Luke 2:1, 3-7. Just because you didn't choose where you are doesn't mean God can't use where you are. When things are at their worst God is at His best. God is there in the place of frustration, rejection, and opposition.
What you think disqualifies you from God's purpose is actually what distinguishes you for it. Luke 5:1-11. At some point you have to decipher are you going to live your life based on what you've seen or what He has said! Never-the-less kind of faith. Start casting your nets, rather than just spending time cleaning your nets. God doesn't change His mind about His calling on your life.
II Tim. 3:16 - All scriptures is God-breathed. The only way you get to know Jesus is to hang out with Him in scripture. II Cor. 3:16 - The veil is lifted. Scripture does not come to life until it is in you, or spoken. Matt 13:18 - Sustaining a relationship with Jesus requires sowing the word of God into your being - mind, soul, body, spirit. How do we help our brothers and sisters grow roots?
What do we do with our doubt? Admitting your doubt to God is the first step. Ask God for help. Be open to His miraculous. Rely on Him. God doesn't always live up to your expectations but He always lives up to His word.
Phil 2;5-12, Luke 5:17, 19. What God has doe in you, isn't just for you. 3 signs of spiritual sitting-disease. Lack of expectations. We favor information over transformation. We allow the crowd to get in the way.
Phil 4:11-13. 1:18-29. John 11:38-41. The struggle in seeing it to the end. We listen to them instead of him. We don't want anyone to smell what stinks in our life. We're waiting for God to move before we do.
Genesis 37:3-8, 12. Favor always follows faithfulness. Glimpses of your destination are not always for declaration. Sometimes they are for meditation.
Genesis 5. The Bible is a message system, a love letter. Isaiah 49:16. There is power in a name. God's love for you is woven and written throughout all of the scriptures. John 5:46. Luke 24:44-45. The gospel can change a life. Matt. 5:17-18.
John 9:1-11, But this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me.
The struggle is His stage. We serve a God who specializes in the impossible. He is made strong in our weakness. Our struggles shine a light on His strength.
Job 1:1-5. Stop blaming yourself. Keep praying for your family. Trust God through your pain.
Prov 18:21. Your relationship will taste like whatever you speak about. Gen 3:1-7, 11, 20. If your spouse doesn't believe in you, you won't either. Speak words of apology.
Genesis 35:1, Genesis 35:15-20, Genesis 35:27-29. The story of Jacob. The greatest gift a parent can give their child is see God's purpose in them and say it over them.
Final message in series. Gal. 5:2, Gal 5:16-28, I Thess. 5:23-24. The best way we stay free in our spirit is being linked with His. Where are you? Where do you want to be? What is your Isaac? God's calling you to let go because he wants to provide something so much more.
The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing. Life is finite. Humans cannot deal with this mindset separate from God.
So many of us have uphill dreams but downhill habits. Discover how we can charge the hill of our dreams & hopes by developing some holy habits in life.
Most of us think that church is something that we do, a place that we only go to on the weekends. But what if I were to tell you that church is so much more than that? As for so many of us it’s the missing piece when it comes to breakthrough & growth in our lives. The church isn’t a person, it’s a people. Ps 92:12-15, Matt 16:18, Heb 10:24-25. Ekklesia: a group that’s called out for God. Excuses…I’m waiting on the perfect church, I don’t like the people, fear of commitment. God loves to use imperfect people to carry out His perfect plan. Commit to a soil. Get beyond the surface. Grow roots.
As we look to tackle the issue of regret...maybe the regret of a missed opportunity, a failed relationship, or what felt like an epic failure. Unpacking what the Bible has to say about how we can move beyond a place of regret to a place of redemption. Just as there’s no such thing as an overnight success, there’s no such thing as an overnight failure. Luke 22:54-62. Your greatest regret won’t be the things you did but wish you hadn’t. Your greatest regret will be the things you didn’t do but wish you had.

Apathy befriends apathy. Apathy always makes excuses.

Stop asking God to save you from the very thing he is trying to use to save you. How is my attitude? The problem isn’t the problem, the way you respond to the problem is the problem. Have I asked God for help? James 1:13-16. God allows trials to pull out the bad in us, while the devil brings temptation to bring out the bad in us.

When you truly understand the extent of God's love for you, you can't help but give it out to others.

Adoption: Act of leaving one's natural family and entering into the privileges and responsibilities of another. Rescued people, rescue people. Eph. 2:10, Luke 15:17-24. You are created for something bigger than you.

We have a daily sabbath, a weekly sabbath and a personal sabbath.

Consecrate means “to separate, or to devote, make holy”. To dedicate ourselves to God above all else. To focus on God more than other things. In the miracle of the parting of the Jordan River, God was already working upstream. Today God still works upstream in our lives.

Vs. 21-22. 3) Fix your focus and keep up your courage. Vs. 23-26.
Luke 23:44-49. John 11:1,3. With God, a waiting season is never a wasted season. God’s delays are not necessarily God’s denial. John 11:4-5. Waiting is not about a God who is distant from us, but it’s revealing of how close we are to Him. If God always met your expectations, He’d never have the opportunity to exceed them. The only thing harder than waiting on God is wishing that you had.

The truth about the FlipSide is that it’s closer than you think when it comes to eternity. Luke 16:19-26. Everyone is fully conscious after they die. Everyone lives forever somewhere. There are 4 cultural assumptions about eternity that are incorrect. Hell is a physical place. It is a permanent place. It is a choice. 2 Peter 3:9. God is not willing that any should perish. “Hell is the backdrop that reveals the profound and unbelievable grace of the cross. It bring to light the enormity of our sin and therefore portrays the undeserved favor of God in full color. Francis Chan.”

Rev 21:1-3 “a new heaven and a new earth.” God’s plan for this world has always been becoming in the end what He intended from the beginning. Rom 8:22. The whole of creation has been groaning. We have an inner groaning and yearning. What do we do with that? What you believe about death and eternity will determine how you live. We should have a different motivation, attitude, and life.

Romans 8:22, I Cor. 13:12, Rev 21:1-3. God’s plan for this world has always been becoming in the end what He intended from the beginning. 1. To be in relationship with our creator. 2. Have purpose in life. 3. Have true community with others. What you believe about death and eternity will determine how you live.
We all have dreams for the future, but if we don’t bring those someday desires into today’s routine, they are never realized. Kick start your life and get some traction on God’s plans to leave your mark on eternity. Matt 6:5-7 and Luke 11:5-10. Most of our problems with prayer are due to our misconceptions about God. Necessity drives prayer. Prayer actually changes things. Sometimes the most amazing thing that happens in prayer is not what is happening to my circumstances but what is happening to me. Prayer works best when it’s off script.
