Are you going crazy, or having a spiritual awakening..? Seriously have you suffered a mental health crisis or had a psychic shift? Today we discuss shades of awakening and what really causes a consciousness shift, is it our neurology, biology, environment, is it god or the universe?Today, to answer these big questions I am honoured to have an incredible guest on the show, Josh Burkhart.Joshua is a holistic life coach with a private practice at Paths of Transformation as well as a partnered practice at the Living Free Institute. His passion for transformation began with his own need to heal and change after a mental break-down in 2009, a bipolar diagnosis, addiction, and a history of trauma. After failed attempts with conventional psychology he set about to find his own path and eventually found a spiritual path and mentor. Since then he has been trained and certified for Peer Wellness Support for both mental health and addictions treatment with S.A.M.S.H.A., the United State’s Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services. He has undergone hypnosis and coaching training with Positive Changes where he worked for a year and witnessed the overwhelming number of clients whose struggles originated with their trauma. Recognizing that the underlying condition of their challenges was going untreated he opened up his own practice where he could better work with people in their dynamic wholeness in mind, body and spirit.Along the way Josh has healed from his own bipolar symptoms, anxiety, addiction, and much of his trauma. Listen in to this incredible podcast to learn more around healing mind, body and spirit, finding the gifts in mental health challenges and opportunities to self-heal.

I am truly humbled to welcome today’s guest, Alan Clements, onto the show. Honestly trying to condense Alan’s bio into something shorter than his entire podcast, has been a challenging task. In short, though, and trying to not to do this globally recognized Spiritual Leader a disservice. Alan was born in the US, he is a former Buddhist monk, and was ordained as one of the first Buddist Monks in former Burma. In 1984, forced to leave the country by Burma’s military authorities, Alan returned to the West and through invitation, lectured widely on the wisdom of mindfulness, in addition to leading numerous mindfulness-based meditation retreats and training's throughout the US, Australia, and Canada. Years later in Zagreb, he wrote the film Burning while consulting with NGO’s and the United Nation’s on the pivotal role of consciousness in understanding human rights, freedom, and peace.Alan has made a career of integrating his classical Buddhist training with a political awareness that includes global human rights, environmental sanity, democracy and the preciousness of everyday freedom. His efforts working on behalf of oppressed people led a former director of Amnesty International to call Alan “one of the most important and compelling voices of our times”. A speaker at UN, Amnesty and global events, we can say with complete confidence that Alan knows a thing or two about living a meaningful and intentional life.If you are at all interested in hearing from this poet, writer, artist, creator and global speaker on seeking what the soul desires, conscience reflection on the quality of our presence on earth and falling in love with life in the moment amidst troubling times, then settle in and listen on as Alan blows my mind with his poetic and eloquent deconstruction of the times we live in and how to face up to life’s challenges with conscious intention.
