The weekly sermon and media podcast of Sycamore Hill Church - Hockessin Campus. A Gospel Centered community near Wilmington, Delaware. Relevant and thoughtful teaching about Jesus and from God's Word by Pastor Jon Boulet.
If our struggles are cyclical, there's a good chance the problem resides within. The first step toward breaking the pattern is to honestly confront the depth of our relationship with the Lord.
When God calls us into something, we may be afraid. And yet, He goes before us, invites us to follow Him, and remains close to us as we travel through our fear.
False gods cost more than expected and give nothing in return. Jesus has paid the cost of our sin and gives us everything.
Our own sin seeks to blind us to the part we play in the problems we face, but if we we are willing to examine ourselves and allow God to draw near, He can deliver us.
Whether it be ungratefulness in the midst of a gift, pride borne out of success, or simply settling to escape hardship, we must be wary of these phenomena when setting out to do the work God has for us.
There are things to come that we ought not give too much of our attention, while on the other hand there are things to come that will truly test us.
What hope do we have faced with the immovable inevitability of death? For those willing to admit their need for Him, Jesus has already rolled the stone away.
Jesus was spared nothing in His suffering so that we might have a full salvation. He even endured being forsaken by God so that we might never be...
Though Jesus was mocked and rejected, He is ready to accept all who would call upon His name.
May our prayers be ones of boldness and vulnerability, so that when our time of testing comes, others will see that we have been with Jesus.
A true disciple loves the Lord openly and sacrificially, even if their actions are misunderstood or criticized.
Jesus reveals how all we are rightfully belongs to God, and to love Him with all that we have is the essence of discipleship.
The fruit we bear is not merely a measure of our faith, but rather an outworking of our satisfaction in Christ, the object of our faith.
How do we know if we're approaching Jesus in the right way? Can we filter through the noise to dial into what He is truly offering us?
We must be willing to tear down facades we create to see what God is building and what he asks us to be a part of.
Whether it be expectations, prejudgments of others, or something we've worked so hard to achieve, we are often called to let them go to wholeheartedly follow Jesus.
God has made provision for our hard hearts, but we grow in our faith when we stop asking what's allowed and start pursuing His good design.
We must be willing to be salted by fire, allowing Jesus to preserve us, purify us, and wholly transform us.
Are we prepared to see Jesus for who He has revealed Himself to be? We cannot afford to hold on to an incomplete version of Him.
The way we understand who Jesus is affects our ability to have our lives molded by His.
The Lord is sovereign over all our circumstances, working His lovingkindness into our lives and through us to the world.
When we observe our lives through God's eyes, we can see the ways that he is at work and we can say "Everything is going to be okay."
In milestone-heavy seasons, we need to be all the more spiritually awake so that we cross them well.
When faced with the hardships of this life, Jesus is the one we can cling to, and He is the one who will take us back home.
We must be willing to accept that God will allow disruption in our lives to refine us with His Spirit.
Ministry tasks can take on many forms, including things anyone could do, things you are gifted to do, and things you must do. All of them work together for the common good of the church.
When we walk with the Spirit, we can see an outflow of His power through the fruits we bear and the gifts we share.
In the midst of difficulty, can we receive the good through the groaning? Can we walk with the Spirit who advocates for us in perfect alignment with God's will?
How do we KNOW we have received the Spirit? And if we have indeed received Him, why is our spiritual experience seemingly limited?
Christianity is not merely accepting the gift of Jesus' righteousness, but also walking in the Spirit.
Sometimes, ensuring our spiritual house is in order is worth the small discomfort of testing it, lest we be caught asleep.
Let us strive to maintain the faithfulness shown by these churches whom Jesus commends.
When reading Revelation, we are best served looking for Jesus, and what we find needn't be reduced to abstract imagery.
God uses the ordinary to accomplish the extraordinary. He entrusts His Kingdom to us, the church.
God is faithful in the big and small things, and we maintain our peace best when our priorities are aligned with his.
Forgiveness is offered to us as a gift. But at what cost? And who can receive such a gift? Only when we understand the answers to these questions can we truly appreciate what is being given.
Does Jesus have permission to allow the storms in our life so that we might recognize our own smallness? And isn't it His intervention in the storm that reveals His vast care for us?
The vastness of the universe is made small in God's hands, and yet He was and is overlooked by so many. With childlike faith, we can appreciate Him for who He is.
The package is not fit to hold the treasure within, and yet we have been chosen for His purpose.
In the New Covenant, the veil has been lifted, and we can freely access all that God offers by His Spirit.
We need to turn down the volume on the noise that drowns out what we ought to be listening to.
What does it mean to believe in Jesus? How do you know your belief is pleasing to the Lord?
The gift of our salvation came at great cost - God's only son - but was given to solve a great problem
We ought not deceive ourselves that we are neither incapable of atrocity nor able to be used by God in monumental ways
Pastor Jeff Keith preaches on Colossians 1:24-29 and shares about his calling to lead the Wilmington Campus.

On May 15, 2011 Hockessin Baptist church gathered with over 500 people at the historic World Cafe Live at the Queen Theater in Wilmington, Delaware. We were there to celebrate and worship and dream about a community of faith in the City of Wilmington. To our knowledge, this was the first worship service at the Queen Theater. We had an amazing time of worship. Thank you for joining us!A little background to our story...Hockessin Baptist Church opened LOMA Coffee at the corner of 3rd and Market Street in Wilmington, Delaware in November of 2010.A year ago the phrase "Market Street" was said for the first time at Hockessin Baptist Church. It wasn't long before we opened LOMA Coffee at 3rd and Market as a community coffee house. Little did we know, we would be joining a movement to change our city.
