We kick off into the new styled podcast with the first of Ian and Nicole's episodes. They will be entitled The Interviews and will focus and continue our tradition of talking to the best names in comics. Mike and Pete will be back with their episodes of Yakapedia in the New Year.
We start with political cartoonist Martin Rowson. Martins cartoons have appeared in a wide variety of newspapers and magazines including The Guardian, The Independent on Sunday and The Daily Express. He has also had success with poetry books, comics such as the Communist Manifesto, and was appointed the Cartoonist Laurette for London in 2001.
Martin comes on the show to talk about his career, how he got into political cartooning and what exactly was in the cocktail, the Martin Rowson. There's no introduction to the episode sadly as the podcast household has been struck with that virus. We want to wish all our listeners a Happy Christmas and here's to 2022.

We have managed to hit 100 episodes on the Lakes International Comic Art Festival Podcast. To celebrate we invite Awesome Comics Podcast host Tony Esmond on to interview Nikki, Ian, Pete and Mike about the podcast and comics. He delves deep into our time as podcast hosts and asks some deep and not so deep questions. It was a blast to record and we hope you enjoy it.
We also talk about the move the Lakes Comic Art Festival is taking next year, moving from Kendal to Bowness on Windermere which is sounding very positive. Big thanks for the past 100 episodes goes to Pete and Mike for their help in running the show, the Lakes Festival team, Julie Tate and John Freeman for whom without their help the podcast wouldn't be possible.
If you enjoy the show and want to help support us please give us a review on any podcast device.

On episode 96 we chat to comic creator Lyndon White. Lyndon has been creating comics for over 8 years and has produced a huge range of comics and graphic novels including Sparks, The Mind of James Svengal and his latest book Candles. Candles, a fantasy epic about a young girl trying to save her drying village by stealing magic from an evil witch. Lyndon also discusses his comic degree and has some great advice for creators starting out in the comic world. You can find his book which is published by Cast Iron Books on kickstarter now.
Pete and Mike are off this week however Pete has a kickstarter for a new project currently up and running. Back in the day, the determined funny book fan spent weekends and Summer holidays searching the shelves of every newsagent, paper shop and drug store for the fantastic thrill of discovering a full colour floppy bundle of joy that was a comic book. But occasionally, if you were lucky, you would hit the jackpot and find a sealed pack of childhood gold that was the comic pack. Not one, not two but three sensational stories for a bargain price, bagged and protected from the pawing of other collector's clammy mitts. Check it out on Kickstarter now, just search for Catfood Comics.

We do treat you all so well as this episode we have two interviews. First we have a chat with Leonard Sultana from the website An Englishman in San Diego. We discuss his love of comics, the future of DC movies, the San Diego Comic Con and the UK con scene. We also have a chat with Chris Butcher and Andrew Butcher about the Toronto Comic Con and scene over there. We recorded this in October 2017 just before the LICAF at a joyful pub so ignore the background noise. We talk about two new kick starters, one from The Etherington Brothers and the other Nick Prolix. We also shout out about the first lot of announced guests to the 2018 Lakes International Comic Art Festival... and its good. Keep an eye out too for a brand new show from us... called My Neighbour, it will be a monthly Ghibli based review show. ike talks about how his comic tastes have changed and how he's reading more. In particular he looks at Monstrous. Pete continues with part 5 of Jack Kirby's life looking at the years 1955 to 1958. A short time frame but a very important one in Jacks career. We close the show with some music from a local band based in Lancaster called Promethium. Some would say you need to bow to the god of metal but I say just rock. The track's called Shell Shock from their new album Faces of War. Rachael Smith is interviewed on this episode. The creator of the Rabbit and the biographical comic Wired Up Wrong, Rachael has shown how creating an honest factual book can generate HUGE support as well as helping people along the way. The power of comics is a wonderful thing. Rachael discusses these things as well as her early years. We review the latest Marvel movie Black Panther which we have differing opinions on. We also review the book Pyongyang A Journey In North Korea which sees Guy Delisle tell his story of working in the country. Shocking and odd are two of the many things you feel after reading this book. Mike takes about an odd comic this week and has chosen this series due to International Woman's Day coming up. The title of the series is Bitch Planet... I'll let Mike explain the link. Pete continues his look at Kirby with part 4 of the series. He covers Jacks life between 1947 and 1954. A different episode this time as rather than interviewing a creator we pick Pete Taylors brains on how to create a comic. We start from the beginning with thinking up ideas to writing and then drawing the comic. Finally we finish with what many creators believe is the hardest part and promotion. This was discussed to help us in our journey of creating our own comic but we hope it helps others as well. We review Square #16 Summer Dairies by Ian M which as it says is a day to day comic of Ian's life. We also look at The Smell of Starving Boys by Frederik Peters and Loo Hui Phang which follows an exploration into the territories of the west of Mississippi as a group of three map an area they hope one day will support a new civilisation. Mike continues his look at TV series moving into comics with the wonderful Sons of Anarchy and we have news all about the 2018 Lakes International Comic Art Festival. Yes... the news has started.
