Why is it that some people say that homeschooling is so hard while others say they love it and it's so fun?

I believe that those who are struggling in their homeschool don't have a strong foundation, so every time their child doesn't do their work, or something doesn't go as planned, it's hard for Mom to stay calm and show up how she wants to show up.

That's why in today's episode I am sharing with you how to create that strong foundation in your home. With summer right around the corner, now is the perfect time to focus on creating that foundation, so homeschool gets to be amazing this September.

Have you ever worried if you should quit homeschooling? Whenever I have a big change in our home, I start to doubt myself and my ability, and wonder if I should quit homeschooling. This fall I will only have three kids living at home, and two of those kids are mostly independent in their education. That means that I will be only be homeschooling one kid at times. Something that I have never done before. When I started homeschooling, I had five kids, so to go down to one feels foreign and challenging. I want to share with you of what I have been worrying about and if I am going to keep homeschooling or quit.

There once was a lady who would cut the ends off her roast, and one day her husband asked her why.

She said she didn't know. It was the way her mom always did it.

So she called her mom and asked her why she cut the ends off of her roasts, to which she replied, "I don't know. That's what my mom always did."

So she called her grandma and asked her why she cut the ends off her roast, and she said it was because she didn't have a big enough pot, so she had to cut it off so it would fit.

I had a few interesting conversations over the last few weeks with two different women who each had two children.

One woman told me why she thought having more kids made it easier to not yell at your kids, and the other women told me why it was easier to have independent kids when you have more kids.

The truth is that it doesn't matter how many kids you have. Whether or not something is easy or hard, is all in the way you think about it.

Tune in to today's episode, to hear what are some of my thoughts about having seven kids.

Mike Tyson once said, "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face."

Months ago I created my dreamy homeschool plan. I had visions of what it would look like, and I couldn't wait to do school with my kids. Life has a funny way of punching you in the face sometimes and forces you to adapt.

In this episode, I talk about some of the ways I have had to adapt my schedule, and I want to challenge you to look at your own schedule and see if there is something you could adapt.

I am so excited about this episode.

I had the opportunity to interview Daniel Harmon.  You may know him from the Harmon Brothers and his viral videos from Squatty Potty, Chatbooks, and Purple just to name a few.

He has taken his passion and talent for creating and has joined forces with Connor Boyack, the creator of the Tuttle Twins, and has made the Tuttle Twins TV show.

I do not promote TV shows lightly, so that is saying something about how much I have enjoyed this. Also, as an added bonus, they are completely free to watch!!

If you don't want to watch the show, they do have graphic novels instead. They are a cartoon style book that goes right along with the show.

This week I have a confession to make.

I did a full episode of how to create an amazing birthday and/or holiday, and then guess what? I ended up getting upset over my husband's actions about my birthday.

I am trying to embrace my humanness, and I want you to do the same. So today, I want to share with you what you can do when you show up in a way that you wish you wouldn't have.

Here are the journal questions from today's episode:

  • After you have written your thought download, circle what are the facts.
  • What is your thought about the facts?
  • How did you feel when you thought that?
  • What actions or in-actions did you take when felt that way?
  • How do you wish you would have shown up instead?
  • What would you need to be feeling in order to do that?
  • What thought would create that feeling?

I hear a lot of parents concerns about their teens. One of the concerns I hear is the worry that their teen isn't planning for their future. That their teen won't be able to provide for a family, or do anything with their life.

But what if you're wrong?

What if your teen is going to make some awesome choices and some dumb choices, and they will learn a lot from all of them?

In today's episode, I want to give you some journal questions to ask yourself if you are struggling with your teen and choices they are making in their life.

  • Why am I afraid of my teen’s plans?
  • What would happen if I trusted in them to make the best choice for them?
  • How do I keep a connection with them no matter what they decided?
  • How could their plan be amazing?

Did you feel inspired to homeschool? Did it seem like a crazy idea?

When I felt inspired to homeschool, I had five small children, had been hospitalized for health issues, and was still battling severe depression. It seemed like a really terrible thing to add into my life.

And yet, the Lord inspires people to bring about His purpose. I can now look back and see that if I hadn't followed that inspiration, that I wouldn't have the family that I have now. I wouldn't have the connection that I have with my children, and I wouldn't have grown so much myself.

Just because you felt inspired, doesn't mean that it will be easy, but through faith the Lord will help you succeed beyond your fondest dreams.

Babylon and Zion cannot coexist.

Has public school become a modern day Babylon? Babylon is used as a symbol of the wickedness and evils of the world. Babylon is known for being a center of sin, carnality, and worldliness. More and more schools are coming out with wicked and evil teachings. Children as young as four are being allowed to choose their gender, and parents are where LGBT activists are telling parents that they cannot protect their kids from transgender ideology.

Zion is the opposite of Babylon. Zion is based on righteousness and holiness. Being of one mind and one heart.

Can you imagine what would happen on a plane if the flight attendants started freaking out every time there was turbulence? Most of the passengers would probably start freaking out too. Instead, the flight attendants are usually calm, and peaceful. They are trying to make sure that everyone else is ok. They are able to be a creator or peace instead of chaos in that turbulence. What would your school look like if you responded like a flight attendant instead of the panicked passenger? You are going to want to listen to today's episode to see how you can become the flight attendant.
