DJ Latam
Latam first played music at a party in 2004 in circumstances rather unexpected, going with the flow in a synchronistic situation. He had no serious prior plan to become a DJ though he was very passionate about electronic music in general and goa psytrance in particular. Nonetheless, after a period of learning and practice, encouraged by things going constantly up, he decided to give up any other business and commit to everything related to music and dancing. Curious to experiment, he started to gradually explore more and more the multitude sub-genres of electronica, playing in parallel for some years psy, trance, techno, electro, progressive, house, chill-out, in various forms.
Now he is focusing on the groovy hypnotic side of psychedelic trance, with a versatile approach that can vary depending on the party profile, audience, location or hour. BPM is more often than not around 135-148, but can go above or below. As a trademark, he is good at building bridges between different styles and tempos, something that can have a lot of value for a line-up flow. Every now and then you can hear him also mixing downtempo in an eclectic chill fashion at the alternative stages. In addition, he has an alter-ego called Fractaliceanu for faster darker psytrance, and another avatar, Blooni, with whom he ventures into deep techno territories.
Besides DJing, Latam is involved in organizing and promoting events through Thrancians organization that he manages, plus Unda and Spacesheep associations, being a co-organizer of Waha and Rebirth festivals which featured legendary names like Juno Reactor, Astral Projection, Psykovsky, Kindzadza, Sensient, Son Kite, Atmos, Ticon, X-Dream, Etnica & Pleiadians, Cosmosis, Banco De Gaia, Dickster, etc. He has collaborated and partnered with many different international and local crews also.
Over the years he performed at numerous events, from big festivals to small underground gatherings or private parties, in various locations and venues around the world in countries like Germany, France, England, Portugal, Austria, Netherlands, Hungary, Italy, Panama, Denmark, Serbia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Norway, Malta, Ukraine, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Republic of Moldova, Crimea, Romania.

The DJ set from Hadra Festival 2024 main stage, biggest psytrance festival in France with over 10,000 attendees and one of the oldest and most established psychedelic gatherings in Europe. I played on Sunday morning starting 7:00 AM, last day of the festival. Twilight vibes in the beginning, slowly driving the audience into a deeper more settled sunny sound. My DJ set from the mighty Ozora Festival, 2024, the Ozora (Main) Stage. I played on Day 4 between 8:30 and 10:00am, it was Thursday. Morning vibes, the sun was shining up and already starting to hit pretty hard, that time of the day when the rhythms on the dance floor are changing from night time psychedelia towards more melodic and atmospheric grooves. This mix reflects that transition, now it feels hard but then it's deep, it feels intense but also smooth, goes from dark to light and then again darker, the bassline changes all the time and it's very playful, the elements are a fusion of electronic and organic, it's the kind of psytrance that would be difficult to put in a box. As usually i tried to give something different to the audience and even be a bit provocative. It's a journey, like a musical trip that begins at 147 BPM and finishes 142. Iโve been thinking for a while to record a set where I would explore the more emotional side of psytrance and when Universal Tribe Records from Australia wrote me and asked if I would do a mix for their series it turned out to be the perfect opportunity. They gave me access to their entire catalogue, so after listening thoroughly to everything I spent 2 days on the tracklist and how the musical story will unfold because I kept changing the tracks and their order. This is the end result and I think it goes even deeper than I initially thought in invoking the human emotions through music. Enjoy your own experience of it. My DJ set at Ozora Festival 2023 Pumpui Stage, Sunday evening, the closing night of the festival. I started right when the main stage was closing and played before Modus who played before SFX aka Astral Projection. Went really well and i got very good feedback, in the beginning there was a crowd of a few hundred people dancing which grew and grew until the end to a few thousands. The atmosphere was absolutely electric and i received a lot of appreciation from many people, i still feel the vibe and the emotions in my body and still processing what happened there that day. Was a memorable one! The mix starts with a dark-ish more classical zenonesque sound, but then goes deeper and deeper and deeper, gradually introducing melodies, trance inducing atmospheres, tribal elements, psychedelic twists, intelligent percussions, acid sounds, modern grooves, irresistible rhythms, slowly changing the style until the end. It's psytrance that doesn't sound like the usual psytrance, sounds techno-ish but it's not techno, seems progressive but it's not quite progressive, and even has some goa influences. DJ set from Mumush Festival 2022, new emerging and promising festival in Transylvania, Romania, in a beautiful green location between a long panoramic hill and a forest. It was Saturday evening-night and i had the responsibility and the pleasure to do the warm-up for Dekel, who was the headliner of the edition. Initially i thought i would have to start my set differently because i knew Tsu who was scheduled before me plays dark-ish psytech, but surprisingly he played much more atmospheric and melodic than i expected so i had to continue from where he left off and take it to where i knew i had to leave it for Dekel. It slowly builds up while having several ups and downs and plenty of variation but always accelerating the tempo, starts at 130 BPM and finishes at 140. I had a lot of fun during my performance, i love these kind of sets where you can have more room to experiment and play around, in contrast to a peak time set where you have to deliver a full on full power music. It's a very eclectic breaking-the-barriers fusion of psytrance, techno, progressive, zenonesque, acid, tribal and goa, constantly alternating the moods and switching between different styles and sounds. I've been experimenting for a while with some new sounds and grooves, a fusion of zenonesque, progressive, techno-ish psytrance, acid, tribal and some goa influences, the spirit of this music. I find it that rhythms between 130 and 140 BPM offer many times more possibilities to play with bass notes and thus generate interesting basslines, which for me are the main generator for dance moods. Plus that you can smoothly blend together elements from different sub-genres of electronic music, that was my intention in this mix as well. It's both a play and a serious experiment, a sonic journey from light to dark, organic to digital, groovy to deep, Earhtly to spacey. Starts at 134 BPM and finishes at 139. The title 'Hide & Seek' is life inspired.

The DJ set as imagined at Flow Experience Festival, biggest psytrance gathering in Austria held in special pandemic conditions in the summer of 2021. Was the 1st big commercial festival that took place in Europe after the almost 2 years break caused by the covid19 lockdowns, and even though it was limited to 5000 people (normally they would have doubled that number) still felt almost surreal. To be able to have such a crowded dance floor and to be surrounded by so many people having fun was an incredible feeling. I played at 7 AM on Sunday morning and had to make the transition from faster night time oriented psychedelic to melodic psy progressive, so it's mostly morning psytrance with an eclectic approach, as i many times do. Starts at 148 BPM, goes through various grooves and styles, finishing at 140 BPM. There was a lot of classic fullon and progressive played at the festival so i tried to do something different, i would say i managed. Hope you will enjoy.

Chillout and ambient set going through various styles and moods, from psychedelic to laidback, uplifting to relaxing, deep to minimal, down tempo to dub, electronic to organic, etc. I did this in 2011 for a bio food and healthy life-style event organized by a friend, it's been sitting on one of my computer's hard drives with me bumping into it from time to time, usually years apart. I found it again now and thought of relistening to it exactly 10 years later, i really enjoyed the music, it's mostly old school gems with some tracks being true classics and decided to upload it and share it with everybody else who wishes to enjoy some old but gold. The name of the mix was exactly the name of the event.

The DJ set from Tribal Gathering 2020 in Panama, an event which famously became to be known as The Last Festival On Earth because of its story and the circumstances surrounding it. It started end of February 2020, before the Covid 19 was considered and declared a worldwide pandemic, and ended mid-March 2020 when the whole world was already going into lockdown. Because of the panic concerning the spreading of the virus we were forcibly quarantined at the location of the festival for an extra week after the official ending, with a lot of uncertainty regarding the returning home to our countries - most of the flights being cancelled with no alternative options thus some making it, some not. I was one of the people who made it, took 3 days to land in Romania where i was directly quarantined alone for 2 weeks. Crazy times and unforgettable adventure.
The festival itself is one of the best experiences one could have, it lasts more than 2 weeks with so many interesting things going on every day from various styles of music on several stages, cabaret shows, circus, theater, cinema, performances, ceremonies, yoga, healing, indigenous practices, local food, amazingly beautiful location at the Caribbean Sea beach, warm sunny weather, soft sand, coconut trees, forest-jungle to give you shadow and to explore, and so much more i could write. I played two sets, one night and one morning-noon at the Lotus (main, psytrance) Stage. This is the morning-noon set. It's a mixture of modern groovy rhythms with old school vibes, atmospheric and psychedelic fit for the day time. Fun times.

I made this mix in November 2008 for Tranceload, my friend Atma was hosting a show there and asked me to do something more melodic. I thought about it and decided to go for an old school approach, i was experiencing quite a lot at that time but never recorded a goa set so for me it was a good chance. It's a mixture of different sounds and grooves, old school goa, psychedelic, tech trance, progressive psy, with a deep acidic feel. This mix has been on my mixcloud profile for more than 10 years and it's one of the most listened and liked on that platform, people really like old school! The DJ set from Trance Orient Express, a Dutch concept of psytrance parties with a long tradition, held at Ruigoord church in Amsterdam, October 26, 2019. Ruigoord is a former village evacuated in the 60's by the municipality, which intended to extend its harbor, but the plans fell through. In 1972 the village was squatted by a group of artists who planned to make a colony there. As such it exists to this day, being legalized in the meantime. Now there are all kinds of events regularly organized in the formerly Roman Catholic village church, from poetry festivals to techno and psy parties of course through the connection to the hippie-goa trance movement.
This was my 2nd time i played there, both times we had a great party but this time i could better feel the energy of the place and people. The crowd was a rather diverse mixture of different styles, from old hippies that are a local specific, to the familiar goaheads and psyfreaks that i often see at psytrance parties, to young people probably freshly discovering this music, to mature adults that you expect to see in a movie theater, to street style looking small gangs, you name it. But all with one thing in common: the appetite to dance and have fun, putting into action the 'unity in diversity' saying, a concept that i really like. And there were a lot of true connoisseurs of the music, i can definitely say this from all the discussions and feedback i got. Not sure if it's the fact that Ruigoord has an old tradition of memorable parties, or maybe because it's an old church, or just Dutch people being so cool and social, probably a mixture of all this, but you gotta love Netherlands and Ruigoord.
First hour of the set is more groovy, 2nd goes more psychedelic. Mix from Waldfrieden Wonderland Festival 2019 at the Main Stage. Super nice festival in Germany at the edge of a forest, full of color and psychedelic art all around the location. They certainly know how to make good use of the lights-trees combination. Many people everywhere, up to 10000 in total maybe, i played at the beginning of the night with a crowd of maybe 3000 and the atmosphere was electric! It's a 2 hour 30 min psychedelic trance dance, when i started mixing i thought i have 90 min in the schedule so it was a surprise for me as well. Starts 145 BPM, the first hour of the set is more groovy, the middle breaks a bit the patterns (i did that on purpose, i like doing that), last part goes fully psychedelic up to 149.

Mix recorded at Hadra Trance Festival 2019 Main Stage (Pendular). I was scheduled around noon and had to make the transition from morning psytrance to daytime progressive. Starts 143 BPM and finishes at 138, going through several styles and grooves and changing the approach and mood a few times during the evolution, to create a comprehensive journey while keeping the flow. I love to do these kind of sets, it's challenging but they are a perfect opportunity to play around and have fun, put to work my eclectic tastes in music. Be advised: this one is very eclectic!

The DJ set from a party called Biocross at the infamous Cross Club in Prague Czech Republic, one of the most spectacular clubs in Europe with it's futuristic Mad Max look, March 21, 2018. When i got to the club the DJ before me was playing dark progressive and i had to pick up from there, so the whole set and the way it evolved and finished turned out to be a surprise even for me. Starts with a more industrial tech-trance sound, goes into psychedelic trance territory but with keeping a techy vibe, ends with a more organic twisted feel. Groovy :) If you like out of the box psytrance i think you will like this mix. BPM range is 139-146. Enjoy!

The name of this mix and the way it progresses and evolves throughout as the music flow reflects my state of being over the past few months starting with the late autumn of 2017. One could say life is filled with ups and downs, i would say that the important thing is to keep exploring in order to grow. A good analogy would be surfing, sometimes you ride the wave, other times you're under the water, yet it's fun and challenging.
It was also part of an application for Shankra Festival in Switzerland so the track selection was intended to be more melodic, but without having fixed idea the result was quite surprising for me too. Goes up, in the middle part changes the mood and takes new directions. Let it surprise you. BPM is 144.

Was a memorable night, a festival organized in a hurry rather but which had an unexpected success for everyone. The concept was something new at that time, 9 scenes with almost all styles of electronic music, psy, techno, house, dnb, raggae, chill, etc. Around 5000 people attended, the Psy Stage being perhaps the most successful according to many opinions. Organized by Spacesheep, pioneer goa psytrance organization from which i was part of, placed in a hidden meadow, beautifully and colorfully decorated, surrounded and covered by trees on all sides. It was full non-stop while i was mixing, super energy on the dance floor. It's a special mix for me because it was during the period when i was taking a solid direction, crystallizing my own style that i felt it represents me well after a few years of experiments, and was probably the biggest event i played at up to then.
