ProtegoCast is an animal rights in the Wizarding World exploration podcast from the first, and only Harry Potter-inspired animal rights charity, the Protego Foundation!
The Protego Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization committed to ending the abuse of creatures in the muggle world using messages from the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts series. We strive to create a wizarding fandom that is more considerate of the rights, feelings, and treatment of all creatures regardless of species, size, or magical ability.
In ProtegoCast, we will discuss animal rights messages in Wizarding World franchise, talk about our views on veganism and animal rights, and even host some very special magical guests!

Hello all you witches, wizards, and magical people! For Episode 3 of ProtegoCast, Emma, Jordan, and Tylor dive into the subject of elfish welfare and try to imagine a better world for House-Elves in the future of the wizarding world. Also in this episode:

- Tylor also shares a way to rephrase the term “House-Elves” to remove the focus on their usefulness to wizardkind: “Elves used in houses.”
- What can we learn from the difference of opinions we see in Elves used in houses: Dobby is delighted to be free, however, Winky and Kreacher have very different opinions?
- Hagrid argues that it’s “kinder” to let Elves work - how is this hindering the progress of Elfish Welfare? What sort of parallels can we draw between these arguments and discussions we see when advocating for animal rights?
- What should the end-goal be for House-Elf activists?
We also answer a brilliant question from one of our listeners regarding last week’s Merpeople episode and discuss the practices we think Sea World would have to change to become a more ethical, animal rights friendly organization.

In this episode, Tylor, Jordan, and Emma speak about the brightest witch of her age, Hermione Granger, and her role in defending magical creatures. We are joined by The Protego Foundation’s close friend - and campaign partner - Christina Maki Linville, CEO and Founder of Accio! Box, the world’s first fully vegan Wizarding World subscription box!
Christina joins us to speak about her animal rights journey, the creation of Accio! Box and Tylor’s hand in the box turning fully vegan, and Accio! Box’s role in The Protego Foundation’s ‘Find Dougal’ campaign. Christina is a huge fan of Harry Potter, of course, and you’ll want to stay tuned as we move into a discussion on what we can learn from Hermione Granger as an activist, how S.P.E.W could have been better, and what it means to be an activist!
