Tom wants to bring a new level of consciousness to the average person and to enlighten everyone on how tax benefits are incentives and how tax law can be used as a roadmap to wealth. The tax incentives that the government incentives us to use are not just for the .01%--they are for all of us to use to have a tax strategy for building wealth and it’s Tom Wheelwright’s mission to break this down in easily digestible information.

Tom created the WealthAbility System, authored the bestselling book Tax Free Wealth -- which is #1 on Amazon in the Tax Law category a decade after it was first published – and has another groundbreaking book called The Win-win Wealth Strategy: 7 Investments the Government will Pay You to Make that’s launching this July, 2022. With this new book, Tom transforms the way you think about building wealth and challenges the paradigm that tax incentives are immoral loopholes. Backed by deep research in 15 countries, he identifies seven investing strategies that are A-OK with governments worldwide and will fatten your wallet while making the world a better place.

You’ll learn:

  • How to tax-effectively invest in business, technology, energy, real estate, insurance, agriculture, and retirement accounts
  • How to use tax incentives to help pay for your next car, house, or tuition bill

An indispensable and startlingly insightful exploration of straightforward investing strategies, The Win-Win Wealth Strategy improves your confidence in tax-effective investing, so you make better decisions with your money and supercharge your family’s generational wealth while creating jobs, developing technology and improving access to food, energy and housing.

For our first episode of the year, the RUN GPG Podcast welcomed Troy Jamerson, AKA Pharoahe Monch! With a distinguished career spanning more than three decades, Monch has worked with some of the biggest names in hip-hop, jazz, soul, and alternative rock.

Growing up in Queens, New York nurtured Pharoahe’s creative spirit. He attended art school and was always interested in graphic design and photography. He fell in love with hip-hop at the right time, early in its history.

“I was fortunate to fall in love with hip-hop during the time where it was becoming a cultural revolution,” Pharoahe said on the podcast.

The Grammy-winning rapper is universally known for his complex lyrics, intricate delivery, and multisyllabic wordplay.

In an interview with radio personality Sway Calloway, Eminem called Pharoah “incredible” and “ahead of his time.”

More incredible is the fact that Pharoahe became an accomplished hip-hop icon despite suffering from asthma. We talk about that and a lot more on this episode including the following:

  • Growing up in Queens, New York.

  • Earliest musical influences.

  • Where Pharoahe’s hip-hop journey began.

  • The Hip-Hop history of Queens and where it’s distinct style comes from.

  • How movies like Mad Max: Fury Road and The Joker helped Pharoahe’s creative process recently.

  • Pharoahe aims to create music with a longer shelf life.

  • Commitment to the ever-changing paradigm that has the music industry pushing to the forefront the “low-hanging fruit of disposable artists.”

  • How asthma affected and helped Pharoahe’s career.

  • Pharoahe’s fascination with the number 13.

Patrick Bet-David is the true essence of the American Dream with an incredible life story and entrepreneurial journey. From a humble beginning as a young immigrant escaping a war-torn country with his parents, to founding his own company and media platform, he has gained a first-hand understanding of what “rags to riches” actually means and how it is fueled by freedom and opportunity.

Patrick is a successful entrepreneur, best-selling author, and popular content creator committed to helping people get more out of life. He is the founder and CEO of PHP Agency, a financial services organization and one of the fastest growing companies in the industry, as well as the creator of Valuetainment, regarded as the #1 media channel for entrepreneurs and business builders.

Patrick authored the best-selling guide “to audacious professional goals,” Your Next Five Moves: Master the Art of Business Strategy.

This podcast was packed with insightful storytelling from Patrick. Here are some of the topics we covered:

  • Patrick Bet-David dreamt of becoming the Middle Eastern Arnold Schwarzenegger.
  • How he started his own insurance company with just 66 agents. Now, it has over 16,000 active agents nationwide.
  • Freedom is so unbelievably underestimated, undervalued. When you have it, you don’t even think about it. When you don’t have it, you realize that you miss it.
  • The best entrepreneurs are those who listen and are good at asking questions.
  • The success of his company is credited to having a real vision and mission, as well as being extremely urgent about executing strategies.
  • Businesses have to find a way to be technology-based in the next few years as some industries will have less face-to-face selling.
  • How Valuetainment started.
  • Patrick enumerates Valuetainment’s standout interviews including the late Kobe Bryant.
  • Valuetainment’s interview with the former mob boss, Michael Franzese opened a new genre of interviewees for the channel.
  • If there’s one thing that successful entrepreneurs have in common, it’s that they don’t want to be told “no.” They always want to prove a point.
  • Patrick talks about his book, Your Next Five Moves, which is really about sequencing your steps to success.
  • The importance of becoming a “blue ocean” where one becomes irreplaceable.
  • Pressure comes with the territory. It’s like a pendulum--the higher you move up, the bigger the vision you have, the bigger the pressure. The happiest person is the one who doesn’t have a clue what’s going on in the world.
  • While Patrick is quite political, he doesn’t intend to run for office. However, he believes that he can be a ‘kingmaker.’

The podcast ended with Patrick saying he hopes to celebrate a lot of things working well a year from now.

David Shing aka “Shingy” is an Australian futurist, creative director, strategic consultant, and entrepreneur. He is also called “The Digital Prophet,” with good reason.

“Shingy” is a multidimensional creative specialising in advising brands, companies, and clients about inventive and effective approaches to optimizing brand value within the digital landscape.

David’s story is an interesting one. His long list of accomplishments complement his long list of jobs, starting when he was a teenager. As a youth, David worked at a radio show and sold Levi’s. He also became a bartender at 15 years old while also learning hotel management in high school. He became an avid photographer. He even learned four chords to try to become a band member.

“I’m very interested in so many things,” David said during his sit-down with the RUN GPG Podcast.

David came from a large family in a small town in Australia. He studied both graphic and fashion design, but eventually chose the former as his profession. In his early 20s, David invented some internet technologies that opened many doors for him.

He then moved to the United States where he held many positions in large companies including AOL and Verizon Media. He left Verizon in 2019 because he said he wanted to be a better listener and teacher. That’s exactly what he is doing now, advising and consulting with companies about marketing and branding anchored on empathy.

The RUN GPG Podcast had a diverse conversation with Shing covering a lot of topics. Here are some of the topics we covered in the episode:

  • David Shing’s journey to being a branding and advertising consultant for some of the biggest companies in the world.

  • How he teaches people how to mind map so that people will think about peripheral ideas rooted in a core central thought. “It allows people to capture ideas quickly. Brand communication is lateral, not linear,” said David.

  • David describes himself as a creative with a very strong point of view, but at the same time, he closely aligns with empathy.

  • The pandemic has shifted people’s priorities and hobbies. Bedtime reading, baking, and people’s ability to discover things all went up during the pandemic. Companies have to adapt to these changes.

  • Every brand needs a point of view. Advertising is the business of making people want something, but brands that are smart make things that people want. It’s no longer awareness-based advertising or amplification. It’s actually about alignment.

  • One of the biggest mistakes brands make is that they want to amplify the brand when they should be talking about empathy. They want to do what they have always done.

  • Do we know what consumers are up to? No. We can guess but we don’t really know because there are different types of people with different psychographics.

  • Brands should focus on the “feel” and not the usual performance indexes. You have to focus on the feel and the story and not just hijack the internet with crap memes.

  • The importance of USP’s - What is unique about your brand, and how do you deliver that to your target audience?

  • There are multiple ways to connect with people and you should optimize these tools, whether it is through sight, sound, or motion.

  • A lot of brands are selling to the head to try and drive it to the heart. That’s the wrong way. Artificial intelligence is a great start but it’s not the panacea … yet.

  • What is the ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution? Intelligence and Data

  • Advice to aspiring ad executives: Act like the human who is consuming the brand. The #1 ingredient is a surprise, whether they laugh or they cry, the feeling of being surprised by the emotion can take the brand a long way.

  • The people David wants to have dinner with.

  • David wants to be known as somebody who inspired others to do better than they thought they could.

Anyone creating in advertising or branding should definitely pay attention and take notes on this one. David Shing has become an important voice as a ‘Prophet’ in the age of digital technology.

This multi talented professional first appeared on the showbiz radar when she was named Miss Teenage New York before eventually joining Miss Teenage America. Years later, Forbes Riley had a bigger crown on her head as the “Queen of Infomercials.”

Today, Forbes also bears another title “The Queen of Pitch.” When you watch or listen to our latest episode of the RUN GPG Podcast, you will understand why! She can pitch anything under the sun and that is why she is successful.

Through her lucrative stint doing close to 200 infomercials, including the first 35 ever infomercials, Forbes sold $2.5 billion worth of products. From the face of various products, Forbes also transitioned into the person who is ALSO behind the product through SpinGym.

Forbes continues to pitch and even teaches it. Her daughter is also following in her footsteps of being a trailblazer. They have created a system known as GSD, as in Get Sh*t Done!

By the way, Forbes is also an accomplished actress. She has appeared in over two dozen movies including the cult classic Splatter University, and guested on some popular TV shows like 24, The Practice, and Boy Meets World.

That’s not all! Forbes also gave Kim Kardashian her start on television by putting the reality star on her show a year before she became a household name through Keeping Up with the Kardashian.

There seems to be nothing that Forbes can’t do, but during the course of the podcast, she would always remind us that nothing comes easy.

“I always had a dream inside of me that I thought I was special but nobody else agreed. Nobody. They saw the outside of me and put me down and made me feel bad,” Forbes said, recalling how she grew up with frizzy hair, braces, and a crooked nose, while also being a bit overweight.

With a little help along the way, and a lot of perseverance and focus, Forbes became Miss Teenage New York and she has not looked back since.

“This is the life that I fought for and I’m helping others do the same,” she said during the podcast, where she also did some live coaching.

Forbes also talked about the following:

  • Beating out 500 girls for the title of Miss Teenage New York despite growing up overweight and with frizzy hair, braces, and a crooked nose.

  • Manifesting - Forbes Riley wanted to fall in love with someone who looked like they just came out of a magazine, and she did!

  • How she got into acting. She kept auditioning for lead roles but kept getting the chorus-girl role. But she persevered and got the lead for the play As You Like It.

  • Some people can sing, some can play the guitar, and Forbes can pitch.

  • How she helped create the concept of selling fitness on TV.

  • Meeting Jack LaLanne and his wife Elaine, who were behind the Power Juicer.

  • Brand is how you perceive something, whether it’s real or not.

  • Most people talk, Forbes chose to communicate. She does so with an end in mind.

  • Pitching is not selling. It should excite, engage, and enroll.

  • How do you get what you want? First, you have to know what you want.

  • How SpinGym came to be.

  • What mistakes do entrepreneurs usually make?

  • What do Bill Gates and Warren Buffet have in common?

  • *Brad Lea crashes the interview.

  • People are never going to be enough, but one just needs to step back and stop comparing.

  • How Forbes gave Kim Kardashian her start on television.

  • The three people Forbes would want to have dinner with.

  • “Life happens for you and not to you.”

Another quote that Forbes lives by is this: “Leap and the net will appear.” She said that you have to stop playing small.

There were so many lessons Forbes shared during the podcast, which is exactly the aim of the RUN GPG Podcast. Every week, we invite people who made a mark in entrepreneurship, business, personal development, and the real estate industry to help inspire our audience to scale their business and their life.

He was born in Detroit, Michigan and spent his teenage years in Albuquerque, New Mexico, but somehow, Xzibit ended up dominating West Coast hip-hop.

Born Alvin Nathaniel Joiner, Xzibit is a multi-platinum-selling rapper who did not move to California until he was 18 years old, but it was on the West Coast that he quickly became a hip-hop icon.

It’s all about creativity, which also allowed him to expand his repertoire. Xzibit is also a reality TV star, actor, producer, and entrepreneur.

“I see it as being able to come into an environment that was thriving and had rules and regulations and I was able to assimilate and blend well with the creative process that was happening,” Xzibit said during an episode of the RUN GPG Podcast hosted by David Morrell. “When you level the playing field, with creativity, that’s how you stand out in that environment.”

Xzibit wanted to be an architect and considered hip-hop a pastime. However, he built a solid reputation in the West Coast underground hip-hop scene. Eventually, he caught the eye (and ear) of Grammy-award winning rapper and producer Dr. Dre, who executive produced and helped name Xzibit’s third album Restless.

Dr. Dre also secured Xzibit a spot in the memorable ‘Up in Smoke’ Tour with Dr. Dre, Eminem, Ice Cube, Nate Dogg, and Snoop Dogg, among others.

Xzibit’s popularity transcended hip-hop when he hosted MTV’s Pimp My Ride from 2004 to 2007. He became so popular that he was more recognizable than the pope!

Following the popularity of his reality TV series, the acting offers started pouring in. He had roles in 8 Mile, which starred fellow rapper Eminem, whose framed photographs were on Xzibit’s background during the podcast, and XXX: State of the Union, which starred another fellow rapper, Ice Cube.

Other memorable roles were in the award-winning TV series Empire and films Gridiron Gang and X-Files: I Want to Believe.

Despite his success, there was a time when Xzibit experienced some setbacks that led to a five-year depression.

It wasn’t until he mentored James Savage, formerly known as Jayo Felony, that Xzibit was inspired to believe and start the creative process again.

“I was able to put one foot in front of the other and go from a crawl to a walk, to a run to a sprint, and it took me out of that hamster wheel that I was dealing with,” said Xzibit of the experience.

He shared this and so much when he sat down with David. Here are the other things Xzibit discussed in the RUN GPG Podcast:

  • The West Coast hip-hop experience.
  • Xzibit’s early music influences.
  • How Alvin Joiner became Xzibit.
  • Xzibit’s creative process.
  • About the Up in Smoke Tour with Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Nate Dogg, and many more.
  • Xzibit’s working relationship with Dr. Dre.
  • Some of Xzibit’s favorite collaborations are those outside of hip-hop.
  • What Xzibit says about Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Obie Trice, and Apathy.
  • How Pimp My Ride introduced Xzibit to a much bigger audience, which brought in acting offers.
  • Xzibit’s five years in a dark place.
  • James Savaged asked Xzibit for help, which in turn helped the rapper get out of his own head.
  • Xzibit is hesitant to embrace the term ‘mentor’ but says that he can dish out some good pieces of advice.
  • Xzibit says you cannot believe your best praise or your worst criticism.
  • The rapper says he had a choice between being a storyteller and telling his story, he chose the latter.
  • Acting is something Xzibit really had to work on, unlike music, which comes out naturally.
  • Xzibit shares something about Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Nicolas Cage, and Ice Cube.
  • Xzibit launched his new business last year.
  • Who are the three people invited to Xzibit’s dinner?
  • What Xzibit plans to celebrate a year from now.

What’s next for Xzibit? He will be releasing his next album, King Maker.

“Hip-hop is where I started; a successful life is where I end up,” Xzibit said during our podcast when asked how he wants to be remembered.

This is the 50th episode of the RUN GPG Podcast. So, host David Morrell decided to make the episode extra special by bringing in a special guest co-host to discuss some highlights from previous episodes.

Over the last couple of years, RUN GPG has brought in some of the most influential people in the world of entrepreneurship, business, personal development, arts, and real estate. It was a learning experience and a lot of fun picking the brains of some of the most successful individuals in their respective fields.

For the special episode, David invited a former guest to co-host: self-made entrepreneur Brad Lea, who is the founder, chairman and CEO of LightSpeed VT, the world’s only interactive knowledge commerce platform.

Brad also hosts his own podcast, Dropping Bombs. Incidentally, Brad also dropped bombs during the podcast with his honest take on some of the highlights from our previous episodes.

In this podcast, we give you some of the best soundbytes from our featured industry heavyweights. Among them are sales and marketing expert Ryan Stewman, businessman and writer Grant Cardone, entrepreneur and sales expert Weldon Long, and world-renowned body language expert Janine Driver.

David and Brad also comment on some of the things shared on the podcast by actress Elena Lyons (also Cardone’s wife), YouTuber and entrepreneur Andy Frisella, internet marketer Billy Gene, former crime boss turned motivational speaker Michael Franzese, negotiation expert Chris Voss, and real estate broker Ryan Serhant.

During the podcast, we also launched our new RUN GPG introduction created by rapper and producer Apathy, also a former guest.

Here are some of the topics David and Brad discussed during our milestone episode:

  • A look back to an episode with Brad Lea saying: “If you want to change what you’re getting, you have to change what you’re doing. And if you want to change what you’re doing, you have to change what you believe because what you believe determines how you behave and what you do.”

  • Ryan Stewman talks about the “death of the real estate agent.”

  • The “stupidity” of the four-hour work week.

  • The pandemic and the demand for AI (artificial intelligence).

  • Weldon Long on clarity: “You need to get ultimate clarity, like ridiculous clarity, on what you want in three areas of your life--money, relationships, and health.”

  • Janine Driver talks about the value of words and how smaller words could make you more influential because people will easily remember.

  • Andy Frisella talking about the customer: “Customer satisfaction is doing the bare minimum to not have that customer be mad. Customer loyalty is exceeding it so much that they’ll never shop anywhere else.”

  • Billy Gene on the unique selling proposition: Is it really unique?

  • Chris Voss on negotiating up to seven times a day.

  • Ryan Serhant on setting realistic goals.

  • David Morrell and Brad Lea discuss branding and selling - are they the same thing?

The RUN GPG Podcast looks forward to another 50 more episodes with impressive guests.

Does humour have a place in real estate? If you know Eric Simon or Matt Lionetti, you know that it does!

Eric is the founder and CEO of The Broke Agent, a comedic media brand focused on the entertainment of real estate professionals. Matt Lionetti is a real estate agent and content creator from Toronto, Canada. Matt has built his business on social media by utilizing humour into his marketing. He believes showcasing his personality is the best way to connect with his potential clients.

The two bonded over their shared love for comedy and real estate. While they haven’t yet met in person due to the pandemic, Eric and Matt co-host a podcast, the Over Ask Podcast.

This was a RUN GPG first, having two guests together at the same time, on the same show.

So, why does humour work for them in terms of real estate marketing?

“It’s actually more about finding your own lane,” said Matt.

“You don’t have to be funny. You have to do whatever works for you. A lot of people try to be funny and it turns out to be cringy because I believe a humorous skit, if you’re not 100% dedicated to that skit, it will come across as uncomfortable for you and the viewer,” said Matt.

For Eric, it’s about going viral. Humorous content has the potential to go viral and so it’s a way for real estate agents to grow their brand.

“There are so many agents now realizing that humour in marketing is the best way to go viral,” says Eric.

For Eric and Matt, their humorous content is also based on authentic experiences from real estate agents. This makes their content relatable.

However, it’s not just about being funny. Branding is also about producing really good content with consistency.

These were some of the topics we touched on during our fun and funny podcast:

  • How Eric Simon and Matt Lionetti connected with each other.

  • Funny content provides a different form of marketing in the real estate industry, which is why it works.

  • True humour is the funniest type of humour - this is on Eric and Matt’s propensity to make funny content based on real-life experiences of real estate agents.

  • A name that sticks out and consistency in providing content worked well for the branding of The Broke Agent.

  • A lot of agents are afraid to adapt to a new platform because it’s a lot to take on. However, if you want to get your name out there, you really have to.

  • How Eric and Matt deal with haters in the comment section.

  • Examples of Eric and Matt’s viral content.

  • How important is live content?

  • Advice for the everyday agent: Find your niche and do something you’re good at.

  • How Eric and Matt ended up in real estate.

  • What do people usually expect when they meet Eric and Matt?

  • What to know about the Over Ask Podcast.

  • Who are Eric and Matt’s dream podcast guests?

  • Navigating the world of podcasting.

  • About Eric and Matt’s merchandise.

  • The three people Eric and Matt want to have dinner with.

  • Eric and Matt play a game of “Shut It Down” with RUN GPG.

Having two guests provided double the fun and double the learning. Join us again next week as we have another guest that will provide insight in the world of entrepreneurship, entertainment, creativity and personal development.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Marshall Wilkinson has been a part of the high stakes world of real estate construction and development in one of the toughest markets in the world his whole life.

He is known for his skills in sales, negotiation, and closing.

Marshall, who made a name for himself in construction and development in New York City, has completed more than $2 billion worth of contracts with Hazen and Sawyer. He took his company to a 9-figure valuation. He is currently the vice president of Nautilus Consulting and chief operating officer of Eldor Contracting and Eldor Electric.

He wears many hats: contractor, investor, real estate developer, construction consultant, crypto enthusiast, as well as sales and negotiation coach.

Marshall is also the co-host of Risk On, a daily live show about investing and the markets. Listeners can tune in daily at 4:05 p.m. EST on the Cheddar Network, YouTube, or iHeartRadio.

This Harvard University graduate has been featured on Yahoo! Finance and Business Insider, among others.

Marshall’s success may be prolific, but his advice to people who want to succeed in business is quite simple. There are two things a sales professional should not do: disrespect other people and lie.

“When you disrespect a guy and he catches you lying to him, it’s over for you,” Marshall said when he dropped by the RUNGPG Podcast recently to share his expertise in the art of closing deals and so much more.

His success in business--various fields of business at that--never involved disrespecting people and lying. Instead, it’s about figuring out the best path to a successful negotiation.

“I’ve codified it. I’ve broken down the process, sequence of operations in an effort to replicate negotiations so I can have the success that is required in our business. I forced myself to figure out what is the best path, sequence of strategies to tie together in order to have successful negotiations,” Marshall also said.

“If I do one good deal, it’s not enough. Every deal I do has got to be good.”

Here are some of the other topics we covered:

  • Who is Marshall Wilkinson?

  • The art of sales and closing deals.

  • The phone is the great equalizer because you can be someone that you can’t be at that time.

  • The importance of knowing who you are and how to carry yourself.

  • Two things sales professionals should not do: disrespect people and lie.

  • Why Marshall is known as the sensei of negotiation.

  • What is the “concept of the ice cream man?”

  • Logic should rule the day, not emotions.

  • Things to say when closing a deal.

  • How Marshall dominated the New York City construction scene.

  • Who is Marshall’s mentor?

  • Mentorship is important because everything is derived from something that came before us.

  • The real estate market in 2021.

  • Ownership of assets is the best investment you can make.

  • Everything is inflating.

  • Bitcoin is freedom.

  • What Marshall does for fun: work!

  • Marshall says he can’t live without his iPhone.

  • The three people Marshall wants to have dinner with.

  • A year from now, Marshall hopes to celebrate buying a billion dollars worth of real estate.

  • Opportunity should be available to everybody.

Looks like Marshall is not stopping at dominating the construction scene, he wants to do the same in the real estate industry as well.

What does hip hop and real estate have in common? In a very personal and introspective interview, we answer that question and so much more, with Chad “Ap” Bromley, better known in the hip hop world as “Apathy.”

This hip hop legend explains how he was trying to make it as a white rapper before Eminem. Apathy found joy in hip hop music through his dad, who used to tape hip hop shows on the radio just when the music genre was starting to make waves.

Apathy was born to teenage parents in an economically destitute neighbourhood in Connecticut. But it wasn’t all that bad as he had always shared hip hop with his dad.

“My father had a big work van and we would drive around. I remember, summertime, bumping the Beastie Boys and my dad turning it up loud so it would bump and I just felt like the coolest kid in the world,” said Apathy, who dropped by the RUNGPG Podcast to share his experience in both hip hop and real estate.

Yep! This critically acclaimed rapper is also helping people find the right homes for them. And his hip hop background was actually a factor that led him to the real estate industry.

Apathy started rapping at the age of five, freestyling the intro to Chaka Khan’s “I Feel For You.” But it wasn’t until he turned 15 that he actually took it seriously, traveling to New York City for rap battles and ciphers.

His talent for rap battles almost got him killed at the famous Disco Fever nightclub in South Bronx.

Apathy eventually broke out into the music industry with an appearance on Jedi Mind Tricks’ debut album. In 2006, Apathy debuted his own album, “Eastern Philosophy.”

He has since worked with some of the biggest names in music: DJ Premier, Snoop Dogg, Nas, Linkin Park and Busta Rhymes.

So, how did he end up in real estate?

Apathy shared that after finishing a tour, he would usually have a pile of cash where he would whittle away from. He thought it would be smarter to invest the money he earned from his music tours.

He also had a not-so good experience with some real estate agents and he wanted to change how the business is done. Apathy shared that while looking for a house with his wife, the real estate agents he worked with never really educated him about the industry.

The rapper and real estate agent wants to sell houses for the right reason, and that is to help people find a place where they could make memories.

Here are the other topics we discussed during the podcast:

  • What it was like growing up in Connecticut.

  • His earliest hip hop influences.

  • How he started in hip hop.

  • What it was like being a white rapper.

  • How he almost got shot one night in the Bronx.

  • Where the name Apathy came from.

  • Making money doing something he loves.

  • His creative process.

  • The best and worst moments during live shows.

  • Working with Snoop Dogg.

  • His dream collaborations?

  • His love of Canada.

  • The biggest contributor to his longevity in hip hop.

  • His advice to up-and-coming artists.

  • About his latest album “Where the River Meets the Sea.”

  • How he ended up in real estate.

  • His upcoming projects.

  • The three people he wants to have dinner with.

  • The legacy Apathy wants to leave behind.

Apathy is a student of Hip-Hop. “I study them so seriously. Other people listen to rap and they are fans of it, but I study it to the molecular level. I pick apart everything they said, why they put certain words together, the alliteration, the phonetics, all of these things. And that’s why I write the way I do,” said Apathy.

NOTE: Apathy also created and mixed the new intro for the RUNGPG podcast.

Why is a woman leader important in branding and advertising? Because they provide a diversity of thought, and the industry needs that. Women, too, have the purchasing power. Despite that, only 0.1% of creative agencies were founded by women.

Barbara Yolles is here to show the creative industry that women leaders can make a difference. Yolles founded LUDWIG+, an organization that “permeates organizations to unearth their DNA and the soul of an organization.”

LUDWIG+ CEO and founder Yolles worked with the biggest agencies and brands in the world like McDonald’s, PNC Bank, John Hopkins Medicine, HomeGoods, Zipcar, and World Gold Council, among others. The organization, which was founded in 2019, is a brand-transformation and business-acceleration company that excels in mind-blowing digital technology, infectious social media, brilliant strategic planning, and laser-focused media planning.

Yolles dropped by the RUNGPG Podcast recently to talk about LUDWIG+ and the importance of having women leaders in the advertising world. “Every company I worked for is very male-dominated and that’s why it is the way it is,” said Yolles, who mentioned that it’s precisely the reason why the multi-awarded series about advertising is called Mad Men--not Mad People or Mad Women. “I had to spin off to my own agency to arrive to the level of running an agency. Women buy products, so they need to get involved,” she also said.

Yolles and LUDWIG+ also found a different approach to creating a company’s brand and that is by creating a culture from “insideout”--yep! Just one word. The process involves having the LUDWIG+ team being assimilated into the professional lives of their clients in order to unearth the core value of the company. Igniting it from the inside out will result in incredible growth for the company, Yolles also said.

She also noted how the job of a chief marketing officer changed radically over the years. While CMOs used to work as a brand police, today, a CMO needs to deliver results and revenues.

It was an engaging and educational podcast. Here are the other topics we tackled:

  • Who is Barbara Yolles?

  • How did Barbara Yolles start architecting brand and business solutions that changed the destiny of the company?

  • Why the advertising world needs more female founders.

  • Obstacles women leaders face in creative agencies.

  • The story of LUDWIG+

  • How the organization looks inside the soul of the client-company and discover gold in the process.

  • The job of the chief marketing officer has radically changed over the years.

  • What is the difference between branding and selling? (Answer: they are the same.)

  • The process of discovering what makes the company unique is really fun.

  • How to market brands faster.

  • The unique selling proposition is critically important.

  • Companies really need to think about their higher order.

  • Barbara Yolles’ advice to aspiring ad executives looking to make an impact in the advertising world and branding industry.

  • How Barbara Yolles’ shoes are her superpower.

  • What is Barbara Yolles’ daily routine?

  • Why Barbara Yolles wants to have dinner with Jackie Kennedy, Robert Frost, and Lizzo.

  • In a year, LUDWIG+ aims to be celebrating making it to the list of the top small advertising agencies.

We ended the podcast talking about legacy. Yolles hopes that LUDWIG+ is able to create an environment for their clients where they continue to pursue their own greatness.

For over two decades, Julien Christian Lutz, better known as Director X, has been responsible for some of music’s most iconic videos.

He has directed the videos for many of the world’s top artists and hip hop legends including Kanye West, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, Jay-Z, Justin Bieber, Usher, and many more.

His work has been recognized by MTV, Much Music, BET, and the Grammys with numerous nominations and awards. Julien has also entered the world of feature films directing movies such as “Across the Line,” “Center Stage: On Pointe,” and “Superfly.”

Currently, he seeks to make the world a more peaceful place through his community organization Operation Prefrontal Cortex. The organization aims to reduce gun violence and heal the effects of gun violence through meditation.

The 45-year-old director explained that in a person’s brain, you have the prefrontal cortex and the amygdala. They are both connected. The prefrontal cortex shouldn’t be too small compared to the amygdala because then violent tendencies arise.

Stress could shrink the prefrontal cortex but meditation can change that. That’s why he created the Toronto-based organization to encourage children to meditate.

We certainly learned a lot when Julien dropped by the RUN GPG Podcast to share this new project.

Julien / Director X is a prolific director with close to 200 music videos under his belt, plus a few films, a TV series, and some commercials.

As mentioned, he has worked with the biggest artists in the world. He described Kanye West as passionate while Drake is “a student of the game.” He also said that he was impressed with Rihanna’s growth from a young artist to a regal woman.

The “Center Stage: On Pointe” director also called Justin Bieber a “genius,” and was disappointed with how the singer was treated by people when he was only a teenager starting out in the music business.

While he mostly worked with hip-hop artists, Julien is really a versatile director. He also directed Demi Lovato’s “Commander in Chief,” Little Mix’s “Touch” and “Black Magic,” The Wanted’s “Chasing the Sun,” Korn’s “Coming Undone,” and a video for Chris Rock, among many others.

His “Life Is Good” video received a 2021 Grammy nomination.

Directing is about understanding human emotion, said Julien.

“You have to tell a deeper story about what attracts people to one another. You need to really get these things and study these things so that when you shape a story, you can shape it with subtle nuances. They will resonate on a deeper level,” Julien also said.

Here are some of the topics we covered:

Instagram is a place where people often share their selfies or show off their lives, but Sina Siadat found something more on Instagram . . . an opportunity to market luxury real estate.

However, it took some convincing. Seven years ago, realtors preferred to have their pictures on bus benches or put ads in newspapers. Social media wasn’t considered a marketing tool.

“What we were doing was pretty groundbreaking back then. A lot of times, people would just be posting inspirational things, but they never thought to take the due diligence to actually go and research who’s marketing the property, where it is, how much it is, and include that in the caption,” Sidaat shared.

He made a lot of calls and sent a lot of emails until he convinced a few agents to get involved.

As soon as the agents saw that it was bringing in money, the business took off.

Saadat is, of course, talking about Luxury Listings, which has sold over $250 million worth of property through Instagram. The account has over 2.3 million followers (and counting) and its posts have a monthly viewing of around 50 million.

The young entrepreneur said that part of his and Luxury Listings’ success is the drive to always innovate.

For even younger entrepreneurs, Saadat’s advice is to continue to be forward-thinking. Maybe Instagram is already saturated, but there is always a new platform out there. He singled out Clubhouse as a platform where people could find an opportunity.

Saadat, too, is not standing still. The next step for the company is to venture into virtual reality. He wants to be the first to take advantage of that technology in the real estate industry.

“You can build your own opportunity… It’s free. It’s the sweat off your back that really matters,” said Saadat.

The RUN GPG podcast was lucky enough to have Saadat as a guest recently. Guess what? It was Saadat’s first time to ever appear on a podcast.

These were some of the topics covered in the podcast:

  • Who is Sina Saadat?
  • About Luxury Listings.
  • When Luxury Listings really took off.
  • The content they make.
  • How to grow social media following.
  • Introducing lifestyle rather than just the property.
  • Branding vs selling: Branding is what sells when you’re not in the room.
  • Monetizing your brand on social media.
  • About Clubhouse.
  • The opportunity with Clubhouse.
  • Bringing virtual reality to the real estate industry.
  • Sina Saadat’s daily routine.
  • Why Sina Saadat wants to have dinner with Nikola Tesla, Albert Einstein, and Elon Musk.
  • Luxury means the ability to do what you want, when you want to.
  • “Shut It Down.”

Saadat is at the top of his game, but he’s only 28. There’s more to do. He wants to eventually shift the company from a social media platform to a tech platform.

He also wants to give back and inspire the younger generation.

Do you know anyone who's worked with Sir Elton John or Elon Musk, sent people down to see the wreck of the Titanic on the sea bed, or closed museums in Florence for a private dinner party and then had Andrea Bocelli serenade them while they eat their pasta? You do now!

Dubbed “The Real Life Wizard of Oz" by Forbes Magazine, Steve Sims is the author of Bluefishing: The Art of Making Things Happen. He is a sought-after coach and speaker at many events including those hosted by the Pentagon and Harvard, and has been featured in more than 30 TV shows and over 60 major publications.

Sims is a concierge for the rich. You think of a concierge as somebody you approach at a hotel when you need something. Sims reinvented the term to cater to the wealthy who want something unconventional, bordering on the ridiculous (his words), in real life.

As a concierge for billionaires, Sims goes beyond giving the clients what they need.

“I learned very early on, never give a client what they asked for; give them what they want, lust, and desire,” said Sims, noting that many times, the clients cannot fully intimate what they truly want.

Nowadays, Sims does more than just cater to people who have fat checkbooks. He’s done that in the last few decades.

He wants to help a lot of people become successful entrepreneurs before his death.

“I will be happy when I’m on my deathbed and I know I’ve helped enough entrepreneurs do and think differently. If a bricklayer from London can do this, you’re all out of excuses,” said Sims.

The entrepreneur’s first job was as a bricklayer in London. He then tried his luck as a stockbroker but that didn’t pan out. He moved to Hong Kong to do the same job but was fired after just five days.

He stayed in Hong Kong and found a job as a doorman at a nightclub. That’s when things changed as he realized that with his gift of gab, he could make things happen.

Sims then managed to make connections, inviting affluent people to the nightclub. He also started organizing parties and doing important events like those hosted by Elton John and the Kentucky Derby, among others.

Sims’ company, Bluefish, has been the official concierge for the L.A. and New York Fashion Weeks for years.

The former doorman puts a lot of emphasis on providing solutions rather than selling a product or service.

“Stop selling and start solving,” he said.

Sims took some time off his busy schedule to educate us about ‘making things happen’ on our podcast.

Here are some of the other topics we covered:

  • How Sims became the “make a wish foundation” for billionaires

  • Being angry led Sims to go from being a doorman to a concierge for the rich

  • Never ask a question where the answer can be “no”

  • “I never market to poor people because I know how it was to be poor”

  • Memorable experiences include a couple who was married by the pope

  • Working with Elon Musk

  • Working with Richard Branson

  • “Stop selling and start solving”

  • Being happy and passionate about what you do

  • When you focus on the bank account, you ignore the relationship

  • The world has become transactional

  • Growing and experiencing different things

  • Opening oneself to opportunities

  • Who would Steve Sims invite to dinner?

Sims also shares his knowledge about business and providing solutions through his podcast, The Art of Making Things Happen, which is very apt as he does make things happen.

The COVID-19 pandemic affected everybody and every industry. But there is always something to learn when the going gets tough.

Even successful real estate broker James Harris wasn’t immune to the effects of the pandemic. He, too, experienced fear and was in a state of anxiety for two weeks.

But faith is the opposite of fear. He woke up one morning and decided to get back on his feet and not to be crippled with fear.

“I immediately took to social media… I started to get creative. I started to think of outside-the-box ways to market my business,” Harris told us in our latest podcast.

He had to transform everything from print media to digital.

One thing that every business should take from the pandemic is that one has to change with the times. COVID-19 certainly provided the learning curve.

Harris is one of the most successful real estate brokers in the U.S. If you think he looks familiar, that’s because he’s one of the stars of Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles, which is set to return for season 13 this summer.

His career in real estate started in his teens. Born and raised in London, Harris has always had that entrepreneurial spirit. He made a name for himself as a residential investment agent in the U.K.

Harris then brought his British sophistication to the United States. He is the principal of The Agency Real Estate, and the founder of The PLS, a property listing service. He is also the co-founder of Bond Street Partners, which specializes in high-end real estate.

The British broker making waves in U.S. real estate may be successful, but he actually doesn’t advise other agents, especially struggling agents, to do what he does.

Instead, these agents should find themselves and think outside the box in terms of selling themselves.

“I think, struggling agents may look at successful agents and think, ‘what the hell am I doing differently and how can I be more like that person?’” Harris said.

Instead, the agent should look at themself and ask: What is my unique selling point?

Everything starts with the person, and it starts with motivation.

“Work on yourself so you can motivate and help others,” Harris also said.

In the podcast, Harris also talked about how the real estate industry remained strong in the middle of the pandemic--it was a combination of the change in lifestyle and low-interest rates.

We also discussed the following topics:

  • Real estate industry amidst the pandemic
  • How I stayed focus during the pandemic
  • Advice for struggling agents
  • Creativity & thinking outside the box
  • Boutique brokerages
  • Motivation
  • What agents should focus on in 2021
  • Achieving goals

No matter how big the company gets, Harris said there is always room for growth. His goals include continuing to rise and continuing to grow.

Part of his goal is to bring in “hungry agents” while also helping others invest in real estate.

Harris also has his own podcast where he talks about keeping a positive outlook despite a chaotic life, hence, the title Positively Chaotic with James Harris.

Academic education is not the be-all and end-all of success. Sometimes, a sheer determination can take a person a long way, which is exactly what Ricky Blair experienced.

Blair left school at 16 and immediately started working. He then started a real estate company in London, which won awards and became a subject of a bidding war among big-box real estate companies.

“I had this burning desire to prove the school system wrong and demonstrate that you could succeed even if you failed an education system,” Blair told us in our latest podcast.

Blair also founded Platform Seven, a business coaching consultancy that aims to help young individuals unlock their potential in business and in life. The goal is to teach people ideas and principles that they don’t learn in school.

It’s also his way of giving back considering how important mentoring was for him when he started out in the real estate business.

“It was huge for me,” Blair said about mentorship. “It saves time. It prevents you from making mistakes.”

Blair has a term for his mentorship program: success therapy. This didn’t just work in real estate, but for businesses across the board.

Here are some of the topics we covered during our conversation:

  • The importance of doing things differently

  • Less pressure, better performance

  • Doing the fundamentals right

  • Real estate is a process

  • Mentorship

  • Selling the company

  • Platform Seven

  • Education system doesn’t prepare you for the journey ahead (24: 11)

  • Burning desire to succeed

  • Pausing can make you see clearer

  • Reminder apps

Blair also touched on what he wants to see in the future. He hopes that Platform Seven is going to have an impact among Americans just like it did in England.

Blair has brought Platform Seven to Los Angeles after a successful stint in England.

On that note, Greater Property Group is also pleased to announce that it has partnered with Platform Seven in providing exclusive mentorship and real estate training to new agents.

The partnership aims to help new agents kick-start their careers, as well as help established agents take their real estate business to the next level.

The program will cover the following topics within 90 days:

  • Goal Setting
  • What Makes a Great Agent
  • Limiting Beliefs
  • Manifesting / Achieving Goals
  • Patience / The Process
  • Self-Doubt / Fear
  • Work Ethic
  • Discipline & Sacrifice
  • Challenging Times & Making Mistakes
  • Reputation in Business

She’s a hope dealer and an inspiration. Amberly Lago almost lost her leg and life after a harrowing road accident, but she turned tragedy into triumph through her resilience and grit.

Now, she’s teaching people how they, too, can turn any kind of pain or trauma into an opportunity to accomplish something great.

In 2010, Lago was in a motorcycle accident. A 911 call recorded a woman saying: “She needs paramedics, her leg is twisted up and there is blood coming out of her helmet…”

The easiest way out was to have her leg amputated. But Lago, a fitness trainer and dancer, wouldn’t have it. She wouldn’t be who she is if she didn’t have her legs. So, she endured 34 surgeries. Then she learned that her injury also resulted in complex regional pain syndrome, a condition also referred to as suicide disease, wherein a person experiences episodes of intense pain.

It would have been easier to give up, but Lago had hope and resilience. She details her recovery process in her inspiring book, True Grit and Grace: Turning Tragedy into Triumph.

In our latest podcast, Lago shares her life before, during, and after the accident that changed her life. Here are some of the topics we covered:

  • The Hope Dealer
  • Everything Changed in the Blink of an Eye
  • Coming Out of a Coma
  • Taking Power Back
  • What It Means to Be Resilient
  • Listening to Your Inner Self
  • Pain Has Been My Biggest Teacher
  • Getting Over Imposter Syndrome

Lago continues to share her story of resilience through her podcast, TED talks, and workshops. She is also a wellness coach and she has graced various television shows like NBC’s Today, The Doctors and Good Morning Lala Land, among others. She has also contributed to magazines like Fit Pregnancy, Health, Shape, and Disability.

Here’s a fun trivia: she is a fan of our podcast! She said she loves our podcast and that she could sit and binge our episodes.

On today’s show, we have the founder and CEO of the Broke Agent LLC, a comedic media brand focused on the entertainment of real estate professionals. Today we’re happy to welcome Eric Simon.

Eric got into real estate roughly 6 years ago. Beforehand he was working at the Laugh Factory Comedy Club as a marketing intern and assistant. He would promote them on social media and try to get more people to the venue.

Eric’s endeavors have not resulted in the direct closing of any real estate deals. However, Eric’s Broke Agent endeavors have greatly increased his relationships with other agents. Eric hasn’t had to market himself as a REALTOR® to his friends and potential clients because they often know about the broke agent. Eric does so much marketing with The Broke Agent that he has very little time to do things like market updates or posting media of open houses.

“I mean when you're, when you're scrolling through Instagram, you know, even if you're only following like 800 accounts, you're seeing so many ads, so many realtors, so many influencers, so much stuff that you just kind of gloss over it that you have to be unique to stand out for someone to actually pause on your Instagram, watch the video and engage with it. So if you're not unique, people are just going to go right past you whether it's on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.” Eric Simon

Some Topics We Discussed Include: * Eric's daily routine * How he started in real estate * How the Broke Agent Started * Strategies agents so they can start using Instagram for their business * Using Instagram Stories * Staying consistent * Being Unique * Which types of content you should be sharing * How many times a day you should be posting to social media * Tom Ferry * Gary Vaynerchuck

In this episode Ryan discusses the death of the real estate agent. He mentions real estate agents are no longer the gatekeepers of information. People don’t need real estate agents. 99% of agents do not have a clue what is going on in the industry right now.

He also discusses how to brand yourself around something. Ryan brands himself around his cars. You need to figure out what you’re into, and you will find other people who are into that too.

“They are going to put real estate agents out of business. The real estate agent, as you know it today, Sally, who shows up at the house and signs papers and sticks a sign in the yard, she's going to be homeless. If that's her process. Five years, not, not a half a century from now, five years from now, if Sally doesn’t learn how to get online and build a machine, guess what? As soon as Zillow's robots just bid on houses, what would I pay you 6% for? And let me tell you what, as a real estate investor, the biggest line item on every flip that I do is that real estate agents commission.” Ryan Stewman

David and Corey are back and we do a deep dive on what it means to properly follow up with leads.

The Greater Property Group has been doing this for many years and they have built systems and processes for agents to follow.

Internet lead generation is a big pillar for many agents and teams. There are many different providers such as CINC, Boomtown, and Real Estate Webmasters etc. and you can literally go to Google or Facebook, runs ads and start generating leads via PPC.

Technology and specifically Lead-Gen has changed the real estate business model for many agents.
