Meet Jeannine Peters
Jeannine Peters is a certified spiritual director with an MA in Religion and Religious Education from Providence College and an MA in Theology from The Catholic University of America. She is certified in Theology of the Body through the Theology of the Body Institute, trained in Unbound Healing Prayer through Heart of the Father Ministries, and holds a certificate in Spiritual Direction from Divine Mercy University. Jeannine lives in Pennsylvania with her husband and their two daughters.
A Story Shaped by "The Hound of Heaven"
Jeannine opens up about how Francis Thompson's classic poem "The Hound of Heaven" became the lens through which she understands her own faith journey — a soul running from God, only to be relentlessly, patiently pursued by Him until she finally surrendered.
Growing Up in Chaos, Finding God in Lourdes
Jeannine shares candidly about growing up in an alcoholic, emotionally abusive household, and how a spontaneous, unplanned visit to Lourdes, France set the stage for one of the most significant turning points in her life — an unplanned pregnancy in her mid-to-late twenties that ultimately drew her back to God.
Healing Through Theology of the Body and ACA
Jeannine describes how studying Theology of the Body helped her understand her worth and dignity intellectually, while Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACA) gave her the practical tools to actually live out that healing — teaching her how to be authentically herself with God, her husband, and her children.
A Miraculous Reunion
Thirty-one years after placing her birth daughter for adoption, Jeannine shares the incredible story of how her daughter reached out, and how God orchestrated an unplanned meeting in the same state at the same time — allowing Jeannine to hold her daughter for the first time since birth, on her daughter's birthday.
Her Message of Hope
Jeannine closes with an encouraging word for anyone struggling to trust God: He is faithful, He never gives up on us, and He meets us exactly where we are, even in our smallest steps of surrender.

Meet Sam Halligan
Sam Halligan is the city director of Forge in Des Moines, Iowa. A Des Moines native (Saint Pius X and Dowling Catholic) who spent a decade serving with the young-adult mission Damascus, Sam and his wife, Whitney, recently moved back home with their kids. He shares the John 2:5 verse — "Do whatever he tells you" — that has anchored his marriage and their mission-driven family.
What Is Forge?
Forge is an on-the-ground movement of small groups dedicated to strengthening families by focusing on men. Sam breaks down Forge's guiding acronym, TAU (Thriving, Apostolic, Orthodox), and explains why reaching the heart of fathers changes the spiritual trajectory of an entire household. Since launching in late 2023, Forge has grown to 55 small groups across the Des Moines area — open to men of any faith background.
Redefining Authentic Masculinity
Julie and Chris dig into words like authority, dominance, and patriarch — terms the culture often paints as toxic. Sam makes the case for redeeming them, tracing masculinity back to Genesis, where Adam is called to till, keep, and protect the garden. He argues true masculine strength looks like Christ's: powerful, but exercised in humility and service.
How Wives Can Support Their Husbands' Leadership
Drawing on Edward Sri's book Men, Women, and the Mystery of Love, Sam and the hosts talk about the mutual responsibility spouses have to help each other flourish. Sam encourages women to offer affirmation rather than critique as husbands grow in their faith leadership, and Julie and Chris share personal stories of learning to trust their husbands' God-given roles.

This week on Catholic Women Now, hosts Julie Nelson and Chris Magruder open with a reflection on the Encounter Conference, a Catholic ministry event in Brighton, Michigan focused on healing, prophetic prayer, and encountering the Holy Spirit. Both hosts share personal healing testimonies from the conference before welcoming their guest.
Meet Jane White
Jane White is a wife, mother of four, grandmother of ten, and co-founder of Millions of Monicas alongside Jane VanHouten and Joan Bellamy. Jane is also an artist who teaches fluid art on her YouTube channel, Jane White Fluid Art.
The Origin of Millions of Monicas
Jane shares how the ministry began during a Zoom call in the early days of COVID-19, when she and Jane VanHouten decided to pray for each other's children instead of their own. That shift in focus led to a shared sense of calling, and the two women — later joined by Joan Bellamy — founded Millions of Monicas.
Who Was St. Monica?
Jane explains the story of St. Monica, mother of St. Augustine, whose persistent prayer for her son's conversion became the inspiration for the ministry's name and mission.
How the Ministry Works
Millions of Monicas hosts one-hour, parish-based prayer gatherings for mothers, always closing with the Rosary. It is not a support group — there's no discussion of children's struggles, just focused, surrendered prayer for each mother's intention. The ministry is free to join and requires a pastor's permission to begin in a parish.
Growth and Impact
What started with 130 mothers at the very first gathering has grown to roughly 200 active communities, with 25 more forming, and the ministry has expanded internationally to Costa Rica, Australia, Canada, and Mexico.
A Personal Testimony
Jane shares her own story of surrendering her worry for her son, who returned to the practice of his Catholic faith last October — and how the mothers themselves are transformed just as much as their children.
Getting Involved
Mothers, grandmothers, and spiritual mothers interested in starting a Millions of Monicas group at their parish can find more information at MillionsofMonicas.com.

After nearly two decades as a certified yoga instructor — including as an Ashtanga teacher — Linda Carl had a conversion moment that changed everything. When she opened Scripture to 1 Corinthians 10, the call was clear: leave yoga entirely. What followed was years of untangling herself from a spiritual web she hadn't fully recognized while she was in it.
What Linda Covers in This Episode:
Catholic Alternatives to Yoga:
How to Heal After Yoga:
Linda emphasizes the treasure of the sacraments — frequent Confession (one major exorcist has said one confession equals one hundred exorcisms) and daily reception of the Eucharist. She also recommends prayers of deliverance after Confession, the Rosary, and intercession through saints including St. Benedict, St. Padre Pio, and St. Joseph, Terror of Demons.

A Cradle Catholic's Long Road Home
Tim Francis grew up in New Carlisle, Ohio, in a faithful Catholic household — but by the time he reached college at Ohio State, the faith took a back seat to partying and eventually substance abuse. His journey into addiction in his early twenties set him on a dark path that would last years.
The Mom Who Kept Praying
While Tim was drifting, his mother Patricia Ann was praying — rosaries, Mass, Holy Hours, prayer journals, and letter campaigns. She was sending Tim cassette tapes of Scott Hahn's conversion story as early as 1988, even when he wasn't remotely interested. She never pushed, never gave up, and never stopped interceding.
A Slow, Surprising Return
Tim's path back to the Church wound through a megachurch Bible study, debates with Catholic apologists Tim Staples and Father Mitch Pacwa held in his own living room, and a stunning Fox documentary on a woman with the stigmata — a tape his mother sent him. Each thread, years apart, was quietly part of the same answer to the same prayers.
The Book — and What Came From It
Tim is the author of From the Crack House to God's House: The Power of a Mother's Prayer, a raw and honest account of his journey that he says will make you "hate me and love my mom." He also has a new book in the works: The Men Who Knew the Apostles, expected out within the month.
A Message for Moms with Kids Away from the Church
Tim's direct word to Catholic moms: don't stop praying. Use every tool available — including the stigmata documentary his mother sent him, available on his website — and ask the Holy Spirit to go before your children as they watch it.
Learn more and find the stigmata video at ScienceTestFaith.com

Julie Nelson and Chris Magruder sit down with Stephanie Parks — Director of Campus Ministry at Dowling Catholic High School in Des Moines and co-author of Michelle Duppong: Hope in the Depths of Suffering (written with Patti Armstrong) — to tell the story of a modern woman whose life and death are captivating the Church.
Who Was Michelle Duppong? Born in 1984 and raised on a North Dakota farm, Michelle was a faithful Catholic who experienced a powerful conversion through FOCUS and Eagle Eye Ministries summer camp. After graduating from North Dakota State University in Fargo, she served six years as a FOCUS missionary — opening campuses and discipling students — before joining the Diocese of Bismarck for adult faith formation. In late 2014, she was diagnosed with stage four cancer and given two months to live. She lived a full year more, transforming everyone around her — hospital staff, nurses, cafeteria workers — through her contagious joy. She died on Christmas Day, 2015, surrounded by her family. Her cause for canonization was officially opened in 2022, and she now holds the title Servant of God.
The Book Stephanie co-authored Michelle Duppong: Hope in the Depths of Suffering with Patti Armstrong, whose connection to Michelle's family in Bismarck perfectly complemented Stephanie's perspective from inside FOCUS. The book covers Michelle's life, her heroic suffering, and the signs of hope her family experienced after her death — including a beautiful account from her sister Lisa.
How to Support Michelle's Cause Prayer cards are available. If you experience a grace through Michelle's intercession, report it to the Guild overseeing her cause.

On this episode of Catholic Women Now, Chris Magruder and guest co-host Leslie Teeling welcome back Deborah Colloton for a deeper discussion on infertility, IVF, and the growing movement toward restorative reproductive medicine.
Building on last week’s conversation, Deborah explains how restorative reproductive care works by identifying and treating the root causes of infertility for both men and women. The conversation contrasts this approach with IVF, examining not only the physical and emotional toll, but also the ethical implications surrounding embryo loss, surrogacy, and the commodification of human life.
The hosts also explore how cultural acceptance of IVF has led to complex and often troubling scenarios—from legal conflicts in surrogacy arrangements to the rise of “designer embryos” and a largely unregulated fertility industry. Grounded in Catholic teaching, including insights connected to Humanae Vitae, this episode challenges listeners to think critically while offering hope through faithful, science-based solutions.

On this episode of Catholic Women Now, Chris Magruder and substitute co-host Leslie Teeling sit down with Deborah Colloton to tackle a sensitive but important topic: infertility and reproductive technologies.
Deborah shares her personal journey through infertility and how it led her to discover restorative reproductive medicine—a science-based, ethical approach that seeks to identify and treat the root causes of infertility rather than bypass them. The discussion dives into the differences between restorative reproductive care and IVF, including medical outcomes, costs, and moral considerations from a Catholic perspective.
The conversation also addresses surrogacy, the reality of embryo loss, and the dignity of human life, while offering hope to couples through emerging medical advancements. This episode provides both clarity and compassion for those navigating fertility challenges.

On this episode of Catholic Women Now, Julie Nelson and Chris McGruder dive into the beautiful and often-misunderstood tradition of the Twelve Days of Christmas—the joyful season that begins on Christmas Day and continues through the Feast of the Epiphany.
The hosts reflect on faith lived out in everyday life, including encouragement, goodness, and visible Christian witness, before walking listeners through each of the twelve days. They explain the biblical and catechetical symbolism behind the classic Christmas song, rooted in Catholic teaching during times of persecution, and connect each day to Church feast days, saints, and key elements of the faith.
Drawing from family traditions shared by Sue Smith, they offer creative and practical ways to celebrate each day—whether with young children, teens, or adult families—through food, prayer, service, music, and fun. This episode is a perfect reminder that Christmas is not just one day, but a season meant to be savored, celebrated, and passed on.

Sadie shared her conversion story from Muslim to Catholicism last April on the show. Today Sadie joins us to talk about Part 2 of how Mother Mary guided Sadie and her husband, Tyler, through the healing of their marriage. It started with a thought planted by the Holy Spirit and now has become an event attended by thousands of Catholics. The Christ Our Life conference launched in 2012 and has been changing lives ever since. Held every two years in Des Moines, Iowa, Marilyn Lane and Ellen Miller have poured hours of love into this event. World-class speakers have graced the stage in years past including Bishop Barron, Cardinal Dolan, and Immaculae. This year's line up will bring the best: Sister Miriam James, Fr. Donald Calloway, and Deacon Harold Burke-Silvers to name a few.
Marilyn and Ellen share conversion stories from past conferences. And we hear how this all began. You will enjoy hearing the humble beginnings of this life-transforming Catholic faith experience and what the power of the Holy Spirit can do with a simple "yes".
Many know her from SEEK, EWTN, and the Abiding Together podcast. Sister Miriam James, SOLT, has an amazing story of God's mercy in her life. In today's world, we are being constantly inundated daily with the news happening around our church, our families, and our nation. Are you feeling despair? Fear? Helpless?
Before any great endeavor, the people of the Bible prayed and fasted: Moses fasted 40 days before going up the mountain to receive the 10 Commandments, King Darius fasted for Daniel's safety in the lion's den, Queen Esther fasted before approaching the King to save Israel, and the apostles fasted before going forth to preach.
We are inviting you to join us in the Let Freedom Ring 40 day fasting and prayer for freedom- spiritual freedom organized by Fr. Bill Peckman, Fr. James Altman, and Fr. Richard Heilman is a series of daily prayers and reflections as well as physical components to bring freedom back to our families, our church, and our country by expelling the demonic influence trying to infiltrate our world. Julie and Chris will be praying the prayers daily on the Catholic Women Now FB page, too. Christ, Jesus be our Victor!

Carrie Schuchts Daunt is a wife and mother. As the developer of the Undone women's event at the John Paul II Healing Center, Carrie has accompanied many women through the journey of restoration. In her book, Undone, Carrie has compiled a collection of raw and redemptive testimonies from real Catholic women who encountered truth and healing. Today she visits with us about healing and our identity restored.
Relationships are the core of our security and wholeness. When the are fragmented, parts of our identity are damaged and broken. There is pain-filled part of ourselves we do want others to know or to see. Enter the Shame Cycle.
Shame prevents us from discovering knots of our heart that God wants to untie and restore to our authentic feminine beauty.
We believe lies: I not good enough, they won't like me if they knew me, We make inner vows: I will never let ..... hurt me. I can do this myself..
How do we release our shame and fear and find the freedom of being the woman God created us to be? Undone is a compilation of women's stories of this journey to be restored and free.

Covid-19 Mass guidelines has spurned conversation regarding Communion. People who have been receiving communion on the tongue and now upset cannot receive it. There is a lot of hurt and anger. There is contradiction and inconsistency; people and even clergy are feeling betrayed .
Our Bishops are doing their best. What are the church guidelines on reception of Jesus in the hand? How was the Eucharist received in the early church and what did the Saints have to say?
Mark Mallet, Catholic singer, songwriter, speaker, and author, joins us to discuss how to receive the Holy Eucharist. Mark is a blogger and wrote a thoughtful article on this top ic (Link below). Listen to hear the wisdom he has to offer and how it can help you find understanding and clarity.

Our goal is heaven! We are pilgrims on this earth; this is a short walk for eternity.
Many people fear their own death and the passing of a loved one. Anxiety and all of kinds of fears begin to take hold of the mind. How to do you find peace in all of this? Consecrate your death and the death of a loved one.
Consecrating your death doesn't hasten your death. It means your moment of death belongs to God. There are four stages to do this and each taken at your own pace. People have found healing and peace from fear through this beautiful act of consecration.
You only have one life to live and how do you chose to live it for God? We tell the story of a monk, Fr. Daniel Natale, who was given the gift of a second chance. He was a good friend of St. Padre PIo. Fr. Daniel died after a long surgery. He was given the vision of Purgatory, which was torture on his heart. However, much worse was when the Lord showed him what God had planned for Fr. Daniel's life. Fr. Daniel was miraculously raised from the dead and given a second chance. How it came to be for his new life is worth a listen. You will be amazed as we were!

There are many misunderstandings of the Catholic Church teaching on where the soul is after suicide. Fr. Chris Alar saw suicide first hand through the loss of his grandmother and two good friends to suicide. In his own grief to grapple answers, he discovered the teaching of the Catholic Church to be hopefilled for his grandmother's and friend's souls. After Suicide is not a preventative book but is meant to help those coping with the after life of their loved one. Fr. Chris's message of hope and mercy has helped many. He shares 3 principals to cope with the loss. Listen in to this important topic that is affecting many today.

Throughout the Bible God showed his people his protection. In the Old Testament, God revealed to Moses to instruct the Israelites to place the blood of the lamb over the doorpost so the Angel of death would pass over and spare anyone in the home from death. In this episode, we share sacramentals that provide protection for those who have the faith of a child. And we have a natural remedy given to seer and locutionist Luz de Maria de Bonilla, who suffers from the stigmata. Her messages have received the Imprimatur of the Catholic Church since 2009.
While in seminary, Fr. Mitchell, LC, encountered a season of doubt. In God's divine mystery, a copy of St. Faustina's diary was left at his door. Thus began a path for Fr. Mitchell path that has lead to continually discovering the richness of Divine Mercy.
An apostle of Mercy is more than carrying an image of the Divine Mercy or reciting the chaplet of Divine Mercy. The Divine Mercy is a spirituality - a way of life and a gift for the Church. Fr. Michael shares how we can live this in our lives. What does Divine Mercy say to a Catholic woman today?
Fr. Michael is a national director of Mission Youth. This is an international mission organization to Latin America. Joining us today Jennifer Ristine, consecrated lay woman with Regnum Christi. Jennifer is the author of the book, Mary Magdalene: Insights from Ancient Magdala.
When Jennifer's mother passed away, Mary Magdalene began to befriend Jennifer. Surrendering fleeting securities, Jennifer looked to Mary Magdalene as a woman who could help her purify her heart. Mary Magdalene had traveled this path in her own life. As Jennifer prayed for Mary Magdalene's intercessory aid, she began to understand deeper redemptive love. The big surprise and gift came when Jennifer was assigned to a mission in Magdala. In those four years, the heart of Mary Magdalene became even more evident. Jennifer helps us, the modern woman, to learn from Mary Magdalene's journey as it is ours, too.
And~ listen for the surprising Easter tradition associated with Mary Magdalene that is celebrated in the Eastern church. We are thinking of making our Easter tradition, too.
