Jam session last night. Opened with a peaktime disco mix followed by some 100-110 slow burn psychedelic head fuckers to close. I was gonna splice the recording, but thought I'd just up the whole thing. Think there's a couple random tracks in between the mixes when I was getting sorted for what I was gonna do next. Anyways, enjoy and keep it #tamb.EDIT: This was recorded Feb of 2020, but I took it off private, so disregard the age displayed.
THIS MIX IS IN NO WAY AFFILIATED WITH DON'T TRUST HUMANS/ONLY FOR ROBOTSThis was only available on archive.org, so I decided to upload it here. This mix bent my head in every way when I first heard it in 2009, and still holds up. Heavy club action front to back.Words from The Fader - Brit badboys Bok Bok and L-Vis 1990 have been purveyors of some of our favorite music this year, between getting creative with new, self-coined genres (dubblestep? hyper bass?) and bodying dancefloors and headphones with their regular Night Slugs club nights and mix show on Sub.FM. They're about to drop a Night Slugs EP, so to promo it they made this mix of all their actual dubplates, most of which sounds like seeing yourself getting injected with adrenalin from the vein-and-blood cell point of view a la CSI/House. Sprung with boingy syncopated basslines, triumphant twerky synths, they're working in the most basic confines of genre—bassline, funky, garage, whatever—but have a super fresh, nigh cartoony approach that inspires energy and reflects creativity.01 – BOK BOK – Ripe Banana [Dress 2 Sweat]02 – Buraka Som Sistema – Generale (L-VIS 1990 remix) [Fabric]03 – Royal T – Beat Fighter (BOK BOK remix) [No Hats No Hoods]04 – Hardhead – Toothbrush Country (L-VIS 1990 edit)05 – BOK BOK – Citizens Of The City Dub06 – L-VIS 1990 – Zahonda [Sound Pelegrino]07 – Little Jinder – Youth Blood (BOK BOK remix) [Trouble & Bass]08 – L-VIS 1990 – Compass [Sound Pellegrino]09 – Untold – Stop What You’re Doing (BOK BOK edit)10 – BOK BOK & L-VIS 1990 – Wake Up Early [White]11 – L-VIS 1990 – Hide [Dress 2 Sweat]12 – Riton & Primary 1 – Who’s There (L-VIS 1990 remix) [Phantasy]13 – Egyptrixx- Just Say Really (BOK BOK remix) [Idiot House]14 – Kingdom ft Shyvonne – Mind Reader (L-VIS 1990 remix) [Fools Gold]15 – L-VIS 1990 – Changes16 – Secret Agent Gel – Crew (BOK BOK dub) [Bass Tourist]17 – Gucci Vump – Sha, Shtil! https://soundcloud.com/danijelkevic [Bosnia]So, we had a little mixup with scheduling, and pulled the original 202nd mix from BLACkMOON77, which will go live at a later date. I pushed up this lush, vibrant and perfectly blended mix of top shelf House cuts from Danijel. Please enjoy!BIO thanks to https://soundcloud.com/avenue-red - Originally from the country's second city of Banja Luka, now based in the nearby city of Prijedor, Danijel is a key member of the Bosnian underground scene and has been collecting, producing and playing music for more than 10 years. He has released his strongly Motor City & Windy City-influenced music on a host of fine labels such as Minuendo Recordings, Kolour Recordings, Tit Zero Recordings, Open Bar Music, Waxx Trax and Manuscript Recordings among others. Here Danijel has showcased his vibrant, deep, soulful brand of club & bar-friendly house music with a slickness, a professional touch in the name of tight flow and intricate mixing. This, we can confirm, is true house music.linktr.ee/danijelkevicAcid Grooves EP - https://twtr.to/AFsly

The 201st Only For Robots is now live courtesy of Munich's, Dschen.
BIO - After an initial interest in Hip-Hop/Turntablism culture as a teenager, Dschen soon became attracted by the early Atmospheric & Liquid Drum'n'Bass sound, which led to his first gigs and experiences as a club DJ. This was until around 2007. More than 15 years later the focus of his DJ sets today lies mainly on hypnotic, deep or driving Techno and organic halftime grooves, sometimes merging both styles in the same set through proper track selection and mixing techniques. Current DJ sets are regularly published in his own "Temporary Escape Podcast“ on SoundCloud and YouTube.
In addition to his activity as a DJ, Dschen has delved deep into the world of modular synthesizers in recent years, following a long phase of experimenting with different production and composition methods. Now his tracks are created as intuitively as possible, often by recording live jams in the studio to capture a special sound aesthetic and authenticity. His debut album “One Armed Statue“ (see below) came out in early 2023 on the Mexican label, https://soundcloud.com/secuencias_temporales, and embodies this recent artistic development. Focusing on deep, organic Downtempo Techno, halftime tracks and Ambient on the mentioned LP, his upcoming releases will also delve into faster and more driving Techno territory. Stay tuned!

Very excited to welcome back DJ Hockey (OFR163 - see link below) for our 200th edition of Only For Robots.
DJ Hockey approaches techno by intermingling layers of contrasting elements. Defining characteristics for his selections are grounded, thick, encompassing atmospheres often on the introspective side. Psychedelia is present in all of his musical expressions, crafting dynamic journeys resulting in playful and groovy sets.
With releases on labels https://soundcloud.com/modelfuture, PPRZ and RF Records, DJ Hockey is propelling his interpretation of techno with his productions, and is working on more EP’s for 2023.
DJ Hockey started https://soundcloud.com/pprzrecords and mix series with https://soundcloud.com/adamtwo with the intention to showcase techno from the PNW and beyond with a cheeky nod to queer culture in underground dance music.
About the mix: I had the pleasure of playing a condensed version of this mix to a intimate crowd at a rave on a small family farm / inside an empty barn. The barn had beautiful visuals projected on it courtesy of Mollie Bryan (@mokedo) on Instagram, who also organized the event.
This mix is encapsulates every quality I admire in techno, and feels like one of my most authentic expressions yet.

We close out the one hundreds with a mix of oddball dancefloor variates thanks to a Midwest DJ with exceptional taste. Huge thanks to Kitty Spit for the generous contribution to the series.
If you’re at Great Beyond this weekend you can catch her on the main stage from 3-4p Saturday, 7/29.
Bio - Kitty Spit is a Madison-based DJ, curator, and connector. Her dance-floor education began inside the walls of legendary Midwest clubs like Chicago's Smartbar and Detroit's TV Lounge. She discovered her love for DIY culture and the underground ethos at warehouse parties like No Way Back and the infamous Even Furthur festivals held deep in the Wisconsin countryside.
In 2013 she started playing out with her friends at Foshizzle Family in Madison, learning the ropes of party curation, production, and danceflooor facilitation from some of the best in the area. 8 years later and she's still holding it down, lending her talents to the Madison-based Remain in Night event series and Jams party crew.

For our 181st OFR, we welcome Chicago's, DSC, who put together some peak time Techno business. Enjoy!
Travis Courtney McDaniel, aka DJ DSC, was born December 18th 1975 in the Roseland neighborhood. His influences stem from one of the main stays in the early House scene right across the street from where he lived, Mendel High School. This is where house legends like Farley Jackmaster Funk, Wayne Williams, and Gene Hunt often played. Also, growing up in high school, Dj DSC found his love of dancing through house music. In the early 1990’s he became part of the dance group House-O-Matics and befriended house music pioneers such as Paul Johnson and Armando Gallop. This furthered his knowledge in House Music and shaped his sound into Jackin and Acid house as well as Techno. Along with these influences DJ DSC has had the opportunity to spin along with other great and phenomenal House pioneers such as Kid Enigma, DJHyperactive, Wayne Williams, T. For the 167th Only For Robots, I am happy to welcome my dear friend, Sean aka Floating Sea. Some of you might know him the Chicagoland band, Chachuba. Sean came to me with some new ideas, maybe a year or so ago, and has been dabbling in live sets and solo production thanks to the downtime COVID has provided. The amount of music I have had the pleasure of hearing throughout that time is pretty extraordinary.
For OFR167, Sean pieces together an all live 70 BPM set of peaks and valleys that create quite the emotional rollercoaster using Ableton live, push 2, access virus ti, moog subsequent 37, big sky, timeline, and various other vst plug ins.. HIs ability to take the interesting elements of bass music to create his own vision is rather refreshing.
Lastly, I had the honor of featuring a spastic Drum and Bass/IDM leaning production on the tail end of a compilation I curated benefitting Chicago's, Brave Space Alliance. All proceeds will be going directly to BSA, a Black-led/Trans-led LGBTQ+ center dedicated to creating and providing resources and programming for LGBTQ+ individuals on the south and west sides of Chicago. www.bravespacealliance.org Compilation - https://bit.ly/2P15aPG

Very excited to share the 162nd OFR courtesy of Chicago based DJ and promoter, JS Alvarez, who heads Research & Development.
JS Alvarez is a dedicated and adventurous connoisseur of music but is loyal to no one genre. At an early age, Alvarez engulfed himself in punk, hardcore and metal while growing up in Miami. While performing with a handful of hardcore punk and post punk bands, his musical taste expanded widely. So he decided to give DJing a chance. After celebrating 2 years of running a successful dance party in Miami, he moved on to Chicago, cutting his teeth on more disco and soul. Now he finds himself as a resident at Chicago's Smartbar with a monthly series called Research & Development. Although Research & Development focuses on techno, it consistently seeks to highlight artists who blur the lines of genre and experiment within and outside dance music.
This particular mix was recorded during the Halloween season and moves through some sci-fi horror vibes while ending in what I'd describe as "perfect for that blood rave scene in Blade."

Madrid related artist part of the collective Possible Others.
“In this mix I want to share the music that I’m playing lately, mostly club-oriented, with high doses of BPMs, a lot of percussion, a bit of footwork and always keeping the breaks in the main plane. Around the end, some of my favorites happy hardcore tunes. I had some difficulty recording it since I couldn't hear the music properly at the moment, but I am happy with the final result. Hope u like it :)”

As a buyer, writer, and salesman at various record shops in NYC and as the curator, graphic designer, and resident DJ of Industry of Machines, as well as a published critic for The Quietus, Bandcamp, RA, and others, Albert Freeman has been one of the leading advocates for harder, more experimental, and more industrial strains of dance music in NYC since 2010. Beginning in the Midwest in the late ‘90s studying music academically while digging into massive record libraries doing shows on public radio, he developed a strong interest in electroacousic music, industrial music, and the then-cutting edge innovations in techno, dub, house, experimental electronic music and IDM. This interest continued and intensified through spells in the UK, in Montreal during the peak of its experimental minimal era, and then in New York, which was circa 2010 undergoing its own renaissance in dance music and related experimental sounds. Continuing to the present as a critic, writer, DJ and promoter, as well as an avid buyer and commentator on contemporary electronic music, this history informs his tastes and fight against the many strains of complacency now overtaking the industry.

For our 136th Only For Robots, we welcome Philadelphia's, Crouse. Enjoy!
BIO -
You may know Matthew Crouse as the co-founder of Psych-dance outfit Risky Disko (Philadelphia). The duo began in 2012 and quickly made themselves known with residencies at The Dolphin Tavern (Try it out: 2013-2016) and Ortlieb’s (Wet Boogie: 2014-2016). They recently released an EP of edits on Brazilian label About Disco entitled "Disco Afreeka".
His sound has been described as cosmic, psychedelic and moody- which makes sense when you consider the wildly varied influences he draws from; including but not limited to post-punk, Italo, house and left-field disco.
https://soundcloud.com/joey-anderson [Jersey City] https://soundcloud.com/inimeg-records
Our first mix of 2019 comes from none other than Joey Anderson, and we really cannot overstate our excitement about this one. Since the first Exchange Place releases on Strength Music over a decade ago, Joey has solidified his place as one of the great talents of USA dance music. He came to DJing and production via the dance floor, where he spent years dancing, battling, and educating, and his artistic ethos is imbued with all of that dance floor magic -- that flow and stellar quality that only arrives via a respectful and practiced listener. His sound exhibits a reverence for the underground house networks of NYC/NJ, but his palette seems to strike from some distant moon. He truly has a voice all his own, and we thank him for sharing this session.

For our 133rd OFR, we welcome Italy's, Nghtly. This one slams, so prepare yourself for an all out assault. Enjoy!
Bio: Francesco Tella Born in Sessa Aurunca (Italy) in 1996, soon as a boy he began to appreciate electronic music. He started playing at the age of 14 and entered the world of production at 18. Thus his "Analog" project was born, dedicated to one of the first science fiction magazines and, obviously, to the analogy of sound. He loves dirty music, where he speaks of himself through stubborn and gloomy sounds without a precise metric, with different rhythms that is how analogical he likes to define himself. His releases on Archivio 01, Kindcrime Records, Raven Sigh and his latest EP on Blacklapse Records have collaborated with artists such as Exsiderurgica (IT), End Of Mortal Life (FR) and many others.

Antiphase belongs to the Second Wave of mad biochemist DJ dads. However his beginnings were much more humble. Coming from rural Michigan, Antiphase (real name Andrew Schook) seemed destined to own a pickup truck and grow a mullet by his mid 20s. Thankfully his move to Chicago in 2000 allowed him to discover the city's vibrant dance music scene and he honed his musical taste at a superhuman rate. Instrumental in formulating the NBFC's master plan of world domination, Antiphase has since successfully melted faces all over North America with impeccable selection, variety and unnerving charm. As he weaves his vinyl tapestries, Antiphase is fond of everything from minimal house and techno to alien electro, italo disco and dry raw acid.

He is one of those reliable "DJ's DJs," one whose trajectory is firmly rooted in the rave sensibilities of the nineties. He is a resident of the London club night, "I Love Acid," and has played all over the world, including appearances at Glastonbury and BLOC. Big thanks to Paul for sharing his sounds! For our 127th OFR, we welcome Leesh, who brings us a mix of what started this journey for her. It is always exciting to hear from another music lover what it was that sparked this change in their life forever. She was kind enough to share some words on the idea behind this set below.
"if you are curious about my introduction to the rave, it was mostly through dnb and uk dubstep and jungle and grime and breaks (as well as downtempo melodic stuff of course!). Then I started discovering dark and heavy techno and my world warped. those sounds are what got me freaking speakers. since I've started DJing i haven't yet dipped my toes in mixing what came before the house and techno that has guided me all of these years.
This mix was my first time trying these origin sounds out and after recording i felt a wild sense of completion, a sweet high. and it was insanely fun and natural creating it! I got to play some of the tracks that I used to lose my mind over as a young 17 year old Leesh, and some new ones that i can't get enough of."
bio: Fresh behind the decks but no stranger to the dance floor, Leesh has been a dedicated speaker freaker for nearly a decade. She cut her teeth throwing local parties with REDUX in Buffalo, NY until heading to the Midwest. She is new to the Chicago scene and has participated as a mentee in each installation of the Chicago-based Walking & Falling DJ mentorship program geared for woman-id and nonbinary folks. Inspired by this she created Daisychain (https://soundcloud.com/daisychain_podcast), a weekly podcast series to showcase these artists and DJs and celebrate intersectionality in dance music. As a writer and music lover Leesh fused her two passions by founding Sequencer, a website covering the underground house and techno scene.

For our 125th Only For Robots, we welcome Klectik Records label head, Jason Patrick. Enjoy this deep journey through the hypnotic shades of techno.
BIO -
Originally from Detroit and currently based in Chicago, Jason has established himself as a dj, producer, and label manager of Klectik Records. Timeout Chicago has referred to him as one of the most technical techno djs in town. Jason plays at many of the top clubs including his residency at Spybar, where he is regularly featured and has provided direct support for top international guests. A sound dj for over 15 years, Jason has played gigs in NYC, Italy, Miami, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and in Berlin at Tresor, Chalet, and Sisyphos. In June of 2010 Patrick was tabbed by the one and only Jeff Mills to open for his Axis Records Presents Something In The Sky event in Detroit.
The type of sound you can expect to hear in his sets is a moody hypnotic techno vibe, rich in the classic Detroit spirit. As a producer, Jason has released on Kevin Saunderson’s iconic KMS Records, Gynoid Audio, Spades, and Frequenza. His tracks have been played by djs such as Richie Hawtin, Scuba, and Julia Gavor. Together with friend and Klectik artist Pat King, a new vinyl label, Estetika was launched in early 2018 with a streamlined Techno focus.

For the final segment of our PDX artist mini series, it’s a pleasure to share the music of Moonchild. Moonchild is the mind behind the celebrated Portland party series, ODYSSEY. They’ve long been a community advocate for electronic music, booking and promoting events since 1997. ODYSSEY, now coming up on its 111th edition, is a safe space for freaks and lovers – a place for music heads to lose themselves outside the confines of establishment venues. It’s worth noting that each of our 4 previous Portland artists have been invited by Moonchild to play ODYSSEY parties, as has DTH co-founder, Debbie. As both a host and DJ, Moonchild’s tastes are quite varied, spanning many genres and eras. This recording is the final 2 hours of a 5 hour DJ set played by Moonchild at their birthday party last summer. Many thanks to Moonchild for sharing their sounds with us, and for all the wonderful nights both past and future. Cheers.
DJ Screendoor, aka Justin Grall, delivers OFR122. Now Portland based, Justin began DJing in Milwaukee in 1996, cutting his teeth on the Midwest rave circuit in Chicago, Minneapolis, Madison, etc. A veteran practitioner with a DIY sound system sensibility, and the versatility to broadcast for a range of atmospheres, venues, crowds, and moments. The first couple minutes of this mix are a great contextualization of Screendoor's trajectory. Now focused on the Disposable Commodities label, and gigging as time allows alongside PDX staple crews Faceless, Spend the Night, Believe You Me, and ODYSSEY. Be sure to check out the DIS.CO bandcamp - awesome label with many varied offerings. Huge thanks to Justin for providing this fantastic mix - decade spanning, no frills house and techno from a Midwest veteran!

BIO -
Situated pleasantly on the more unconventional end of music and sound, Vancouverite Jen P aka Nancy Dru has a kind of important message embedded throughout her style. Engaging in her sets is like sitting with her at a card table while the chaos of the casino persists in the periphery: glances of determination alongside a type of stoicism about fun are passed around, undermining your confidence of the game, questioning your initial goal to win, diffusing what you thought it meant to win at anything.Known internationally during the IDM days as The Square Root of Evil, Jen now delivers dense, driven techno, as solid as urban pavement. Nancy Dru is where Jen's personal and deep comprehension of sound marches through each corner and transition of her set. Rendering her work more potent is its vocal aridness. Though this style is alive with language, it is an idiosyncratic, non-verbal kind, accessible to all who are at least level two versed in techno. Having shared the stage with the likes of Steffi, Voices From the Lake, Carl Craig, Headless Horseman, Shed, Hodge, Dasha Rush, Rødhåd, Erika, Kangding Ray, Andy Stott, Annie Hall, Matrixxman and many more, as well as playing celebrated sets at Basscoast, Mutek, Soundwave, and Communikey, Jen has gained a laudable reputation as not only an artist with a severe approach to music, but also as a techno advocate with an esoteric, tenacious language, argot required for propelling the global dance community forward into its unknown, tremendous future.bio by Evelyn Malinowski

For our 116th OFR, we welcome Chicago DJ and producer, Ariel Zetina. Ariel has provided us with a hard hitting, club ready mix built for the dance floor. Enjoy!
"If you are interested in the future of club and dance music, look no further than Ariel Zetina. A popular rising underground DJ, Zetina has begun making a name for herself in the city’s club venues and across the country (through the power of SoundCloud) for her eclectic and progressive sets. Straightforward hip-hop or bro-oriented EDM are never on the menu during her performances (thank goodness). Instead, listeners and partygoers will be immersed in Zetina’s glitchy, strange, yet totally fun dance music. Zetina aims to use sound and text works to transform club settings and performance spaces, making them more socially inclusive and sonically forward-thinking.This year, Zetina launched an ongoing residency at the Hideout, best known for its iconic dance parties." - Britt Julious, Chicago Tribune

For our 114th Only for Robots we welcome another member of the https://soundcloud.com/secondnatureseattle collective, AOS. Enjoy!
Aos is a Seattle-based producer and DJ whose musical explorations are influenced by her interest in the haphazard, subversive nature of DIY spaces as well as deep curiosity in the contrast between the textural and the rhythmic. A product of Tacoma, Washington's vivid metal, punk, and electronic underground, she established her eclectic brand as a DJ on KUPS, the area’s esteemed college radio station, before bringing her heady strains to Seattle. Bio: Percussionist, DJ, sonic collage artist, and producer E.M. Malinowski has been playing and combining music for nearly twenty years. Serving formerly as a keyboardist and drummer for several projects and post-folk outfits ranging from Canadian act Man meets Bear to Danish artist Crystal Shipsss, it is safe to say that Experimental Housewife is a multifarious, engaged musician. When looking at her long DJ career, which began awkwardly young when she was 12-years-old, there is little room for counterargument in stating that ExHouse is a seasoned and well-informed selector. Her sound is loud, narratorial, genre defiant, and tightly sewn. Her sets – whether hybrid, live, or DJ – are replete with rhythmic force smothered in nostalgic drone that seamlessly traverse expectations as well as eras; it is a complex canopy that spans and includes a variety of listeners. No matter who they are, they are left with an amount of satisfying shock.

Radere is the alias of Carl Ritger, a sound artist currently living and working in Denver, Colorado.
His work primarily explores the shadowy gulf that exists between drone and noise, blurring electronics, location recordings and traditional instrumention into densely textured sonic monoliths.
Radere’s recordings have found their way to light via a slew of independent labels, including Full Spectrum, Moodgadget, basic_sounds (RIP) and Futuresequence. He also conducts ongoing collaborations with Sun Hammer, offthesky, Ten And Tracer, Cody Yantis and Anduin; as well as John Templeton, alongside whom he comprises the experimental techno vehicle Coward.
Lately, he is focused on the launch of CELE – a new organization dedicated to providing a platform for abstract and experimental musical forms in Denver, with an emphasis on durational, deep listening and immersive audio-visual performance concepts.
This mix was recorded live on May 26 2017 during a CELE showcase at the Denver Museum of Contemporary Art, which featured additional performances from Nicolás Melmann and fellow CELE resident Alex Whittier.
Radere drank many palomas and played a selection of personal favorites and recent discoveries, before closing out with a cut from his recent LP release for Full Spectrum. Huge thanks to Carl for the generous contribution to our series. We are excited to have him on board. So, please exit the dancefloor, and grab a pair of headphones. Enjoy.

Very happy to welcome The Bunker's Clay Wilson to the OFR roster. Clay delivers a grand slam session filled with techno and electro goodness. Huge thanks to him for his generous contribution. Enjoy!
BIO -
Clay Wilson’s life story is, for the most part, a mystery. Little is known about the 28-year-old producer, who began turning heads with mesmerizing tracks from his home base in Brooklyn last year.
Before Wilson started making techno, he studied improvisation at music school in upstate New York. Wilson played bass, studying with noted jazz musicians who had worked with Ornette Coleman, Alice Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, and many artists who recorded for the ECM label. He counts Coleman, Coltrane, and Art Ensemble of Chicago among his major inspirations. You can sense the subtle traces of Wilson’s avant-garde jazz training in his techno. You can hear the shifting layers of intriguing textures in the music, his deep understanding of the low end, of arranging and composition, of form. “Understanding the foundation of form has allowed me to not worry so much about putting loops into a full ‘song’, which seems to be a common thing with electronic music,” he says. “I think the textures kind of come from trying to get away from standard musical ideas.”
He had already started making music before experiencing The Bunker, but the sound of the party inspired him massively, and helped him to refine his own aesthetic. He was deeply moved by Bunker sets by Voices From The Lake, Demdike Stare, Peter Van Hoesen, the Interdimensional Transmissions crew, Bee Mask, Atom™, Tobias, and many more.

Mark Angel [Chicago]
For our 106th OFR, we welcome Chicago DJ, Mark Angel. Mark is part of the Noisefloor Chicago crew who just celebrated their one year anniversary with special guest Mike Dearborn. Huge thanks to Mark for providing an hour of driving techno for the series.
BIO -
Very few would dispute Mark Angel as being one of the more prominent and exciting figures to emerge from Chicago in recent years. An accomplished producer, in-demand remixer and versatile international performer, he is fast transitioning from Chicagos’ best-kept secret to one of Technos' up-coming leading lights, on a par with genre-defying luminaries such as the Advent, Drumcell, Mattias Fridell, Audio Injection/Truncate & Robert Hood.
Despite enjoying worldwide notoriety through his signature style production and on deck live performances, Mark hasn’t forgotten his hard-line influenced home grown roots of Chicago. Co-founding FORMAT RECORDINGS (FORMAT-REC) in 2012, the label has already jumped into the ranks of forward pushing imprints showcasing international & local talents such as, Ricardo Garduno, Komprezzor, Jeff Derringer, Submerge, Hyperactive and many more. All in a move to further raising the profile of Chicagos' Techno scene in North America and abroad.

Super happy to welcome 12x12, aka Sean Phillips, to the program. Sean is from Jersey, and cut his teeth DJing around NYC before relocating to Berlin a few years ago. In 2008 he moved to Brooklyn and began producing tracks alongside good friends L'estasi Dell'oro (Penalune) and N'Conduit. Together they founded Voodoo Down Records, debuting the label in 2012 with a compilation EP featuring tracks from each of them as well as a cut from STL. The label has provided a home for their sound, as well as featured tracks from the likes of October, Joey Anderson, Anton Zap, and, most recently, Deadbeat. Now headquartered in Berlin, 12x12 is focused on ramping up his studio productions and keeping things moving for Voodoo Down. Black Light Smoke will share an EP via the label later this year, so keep an eye out for that. In the mean time, those in Berlin can catch 12x12 at repeat bar in Kreuzberg on April 14th, playing alongside his NYC buddies Jason Fellows and Matt Sagotsky. For our 102nd OFR, we welcome another Chicagoan who is long overdue as a part of our series. Please welcome Kiddo to the mix. Proper deep, meditative journey. Enjoy!
Influenced by the sounds of Berlin, Detroit, and Chicago, Kiddo's style is a melding of numerous genres of current and classic techno and house music. Her sets may range anywhere from glitchy, shuffling micro-house to sexy, melodic tech-house to more dark and sinister techno. Lately she's been moving the dance floors with seamless techno mixes and the occasional jackin' house cut thrown in for good measure. She is known for her enthusiasm behind the turntables, connecting with the dance floor through the combination of a charismatic smile and energetic mixing.

Chris Widman returns for his second OFR mix. We featured a history lesson in dubstep which you can find here - https://soundcloud.com/donttrusthumans/only-for-robots-015-dubstep.
Chris Widman is a Chicago DJ that defies easy classification. As a Smartbar resident and host of the weekly radio program Abstract Science (since 1997 and a DJ since 1995), he is at the forefront of breaking new styles, crossing genres and re-introducing forgotten music. When DJing for the dancefloor, Widman is known for his adventurous mixing of dubstep, techno and everything else, to create his own form of crowd-pleasing sonic warfare.

Incredibly excited to share our 97th OFR courtesy of local artist, Sold. This is another part of our 2016 'Nothing But Chicago' series, which has been a bit more casual this year. In 2015, we hosted 5 in a row. This year, Lubin and Jarvi contributed prior to this. This is Chicago. This is our home. Crank the rave, and enjoy.

Glenna Fitch aka sold started DJing in NE Ohio 8 years ago with her club night, Hot Knees. She later moved to Denver, where she helped establish such residencies as Deep Club. She was most recently added as a resident DJ to the Chicago institution, Hugo Ball, after a year of volunteering with promotion and installations. Glenna is also a collage artist and those aesthetic principles seep into her selecting style.

For this edition of Only For Robots, we are thrilled to welcome none other than Jan Svensson, aka Villa Åbo. Svensson, a co-founder of the absolutely prolific Börft label, has been making electronic music for almost 3 decades, most famously as 1/3 of legendary Swedish synth band, Frak. His solo efforts date back nearly as far, falling under a number of aliases. He's been on a tear under the Villa Åbo moniker the past couple years, and we could not be more excited to have him as a guest on this series. Svensson, by his own admission, does not DJ very often, which makes this episode all the more special. Listen up as a true original goes in with an hour of eclectic house and electro selections.

Anyone who has been following this series knows that we have Chicago based artists littered throughout. A year ago, we hosted four mixes throughout the month of April from local DJs. Very happy to share an extended session from a true spirit in this community. I have had the pleasure of seeing Jarvi a couple times, in addition to sharing numerous dancefloor high fives. This mix is deep, meditative, thoughtfully constructed, and a true treat. Headphones recommended. Enjoy!
bio:
Jarvi is a fresh face to the Chicago house & techno scene. Hailing from Metro Detroit, she was introduced to the music at a young age. DJing has always been a dream and in 2013 with the help of mentor, Sassmouth, that dream became a reality. She is also a member of Chicago's Naughty Bad Fun Collective, a Resident at Smart Bar for Planet Chicago (along with Sassmouth & Pat Bosman), and can be found on the dance floor jacking to proper beats. Coward is Carl Ritger, aka Radere, and John Templeton, the man behind the Great American Techno Fest. Together, the Denver-based purveyors work tirelessly to connect the dots between noise and techno, exploring and celebrating a variety of topographies in electronic music.
Those of you who are familiar with their work will know what to expect from this mix: immersive textures, deep driving selections, expertly blended techno.
If you have yet to catch either of these guys in action, keep your ears peeled. The duo are scheduled to bend minds in Athens at the FASMA festival, followed by a hometown performance alongside Cassegrain.
John also has a number of solo DJ gigs coming up in the next few weeks: "Oh me? Next weeks are crazy. Berlin Friday, then two in Serbia April 1, 2 and then a solo gig after Fasma, but still in Athens on April 16. Back to NY for a gig April 23 and then Seattle on May 7."
In the meantime, enjoy this mix, recorded using three turntables, a Xone 92 mixer, Serato, and a Korg Kaoss Pad. We feel very lucky to be able to share it with you, and would like to express our gratitude to John and Carl.

For our 93rd edition we are very happy to welcome Mapes to the Only For Robots series. Driving selections and veteran mixing come together to create a deep and motive session from this Brooklyn based Blankstairs resident.
A few words from the artist: "Recorded this at home with two decks and a mixer. Mostly recent acquisitions with a couple I dug out after being buried for a while now. Decided to take a break from some more ambient leaning mixes I've been messing around with and have fun with some less-than-subtle techno that does it for me through these dark months."

Zach Lubin [Chicago]
For our 92nd OFR, we welcome back DTH friend, Zach Lubin.
Bio:
Zach Lubin is from Chicago and has been DJing and producing electronic music for over 25 years. His label, Obvio, is a resurrection of his father's reggae label started in 1982. Obvio is an outlet for forward thinking techno, always originating from a specific concept or theme rather than catering to pure dance floor tracks. Zach has performed across Europe and frequently in his home town of Chicago, carrying a sound riding the blurred lines of Detroit techno and Chicago house. Strongly influenced by the hip-hop and hands-on style of DJing, his sets are known to be high energy and heavy with improvisation. He is a strong proponent of art creation as a spontaneous and in-the-moment process, rather than premeditated and planned. Zach has music released on Kimochi Sound, Liebe:Detail, Nighttripper, UntilMyHeartStops, and others including two full-length albums on Parity and Ante Recordings. His music has seen support by the likes of Ben Sims, Kyle Hall, and DVS1. He also has released on Jeff Mills' Axis side-label 6277, and has been remixed by the likes of Paul Mac and Orlando Voorn.

Hannah Lockwood [Sydney]
We are very pleased to bring you another one of Sydney's fine talents: Hannah Lockwood. In anticipation of the upcoming Trench party in support of Kangding Ray, Hannah has provided this moody, eclectic mix.
While training as an audio engineer, Hannah become obsessed with modular synthesis; now the focal point of her live sets. A partnership with Gareth Psaltis (https://soundcloud.com/garethpsaltis) known as phile (https://soundcloud.com/phile_music) has blessed the Sydney techno scene with many memorable live performances. In 2015, Hannah and Gareth started the Deep Seeded project, which features video performances from upcoming Sydney artists. Filmed from their home in Newtown, these live sets work to showcase the incredible and diverse talent brewing in their city: a definite must check out (https://vimeo.com/deepseeded).
As part of the Hunter Gatherer (https://soundcloud.com/huntergathererrecords) and Anomaly crew (https://www.facebook.com/Anomalyevents), Hannah continues to bring much appreciated energy to the Sydney techno scene.

Gardland [Sydney]
Gardland, featured as one of XLR8R's 'Best New Artists of 2013', are label heads of Sydney's Hunter Gatherer and have released on Brooklyn based RVNG Intl. We are very pleased to have this talented duo provide a sublime mix for the Only For Robots series.
From RVNG Intl. website artist bio: "Gardland is the laboriously cracked energy exchange between Alex Murray and Mark Smith. The duo solidified the young partnership during a psychedelic desert excursion far from their urban dwellings in Sydney, Australia. Over a ten-day stretch, Murray and Smith recorded hardware-based wigouts with neither boundary nor fear of judgment from the godheads that loomed ominously over the lysergic liturgy."

He currently holds a residency at one of England’s premier events Detatched in Leeds, aswell as Tech:Drive in London.
Rick felt driven to learn the art and science involved in creating electronic music in order to experiment with sounds of his own. After gaining a degree in Music Technology & Audio Systems he began the construction of his studio incorporating both hardware and software, digital and analogue. This hybrid approach is also reflected in his tracks, fusing elements of techno and electro/electronica with a focus on precision programming and detailed synthesis.
Rick’s tracks have already been charted and supported by many of the artists that originally inspired him; Dave Clarke, Surgeon, The Advent, UR, Paul Mac and Inigo Kennedy to name a few. He has released music on various respected labels including Michaelangelo’s Labrynth, Paul Blackford’s Militant Science, Jactation and Utch with his tracks having been remixed by the likes of Phase, Paul Mac, Paul Damage and Sir Real. His music has also featured regularly on a variety of radio shows, most notably Dave Clarke’s Whitenoise radio. 2010 saw the launch of Rick’s label Duality, a platform for his own output alongside talented and cutting edge artists from around the world.'
