How do baptism and the Lords supper become effectual means of salvation? A. Baptism and the Lords supper become effectual means of salvation, not for any virtue in them, or in him that doth administer them, but only by the blessing of Christ (1 Pet. 3:21; Mt. 3:11; 1 Cor. 3:6, 7), and the working of the Spirit in those that by faith receive them (1 Cor. 12:3; Mt. 28:19).
Q95. How is the word to be read and heard, that it may become effectual to salvation? A. That the word may become effectual to salvation, we must attend thereunto with diligence (Pr. 8:34), preparation (1 Pet. 2:1, 2), and prayer (Ps. 119:18); receive it with faith and love (Heb. 4:2; 2 Thes. 2:10), lay it up in our hearts (Ps. 119:18), and practice it in our lives (Luke 8:15; James 1:25).

A. The outward and ordinary means whereby Christ communicateth to us the benefits of redemption are his ordinances, especially the word, baptism, the Lord’s supper, and prayer; all which means are made effectual to the elect for salvation (Mt. 28:19, 20; Acts 2:42, 46, 47).

A. Faith in Jesus Christ is a saving grace (Heb. 10:39), whereby we receive and rest upon him alone for salvation, as he is offered to us in the gospel (Jn. 1:12; Is. 26:3, 4; Ph. 3:9; Gal. 2:16).

Q88. Are all transgressions of the law equally heinous?
A. Some sins in themselves, and by reason of several aggravations, are more heinous in the sight of God than others (Ez. 8:6, 13, 15; 1 Jn. 5:16; Ps. 78:17, 32, 56).
How should Christians approach the issue of abortion? Should we attempt to influence laws regarding abortion? Is it an issue we can ignore? Does separation of church and state hinder Christians from involvement with law and politics?
Q47. Which is the third commandment?
A. The third commandment is, “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that takes his name in vain.”
Q48. What is required in the third commandment?
A. The third commandment requires the holy and reverent use of God’s names (Psa 29:2), titles, attributes (Rev 15:3-4), ordinances (Ecc 5:1), Word (Psa 138:2), and works (Job 36:24; Deu 28:58-59).
Paul says "the days are evil", and that seems very evident to us as we go into 2024. How shall we live this year? Be resolved to walk as Children of Light.

- Q. What is justification? A. Justification is an act of God’s free grace in which He pardons all our sins (Rom 3:24; Eph 1:7), and accepts us as righteous in His sight (2Co 5:21), only for the righteousness of Christ imputed to us (Rom 5:19), and received by faith alone (Gal 2:16; Phi 3:9).
As the world continues to go from bad to worse, Christians are called to stand firm in Christ in the truth of the scriptures. However, we see many in the church drifting to become like the world instead of becoming like Jesus. In this series we will identify who a Christian is and what a Christian does. Introduction to the New Birth. In part 1 we look at the Old Testament to understand why Jesus said to Nicodemus regarding the new birth, "are you the teacher of Israel and yet you do not understand these things?"
We begin our study of the Gospel according to Matthew. In the first verse of the book, Matthew declares that Jesus of Nazareth is the fulfillment of God's promise to Abraham and David, and he is the Messiah (Christ) promised throughout the Old Testament.
