Hear about Ashley's personal journey of self-sabotage and what it looked like for her to recover and face the pain it was growing from. Are you tired of playing the numbers games when it comes to setting BIG goals and then feeling a BIG letdown on January 3rd when you're already behind? Me too. 2019 was a year full of BIG things for me, job changes, big life decisions, new puppy, lots of heartaches and personal growth. This year, instead of making a list of numbers and accomplishments, I did some deeper, slower reflecting on what 2019 looked like for me. From assessing how I honored my values to what feelings I felt and creating art that represented it all, I compiled a list of journaling prompts to help you reflect on your year in a more holistic way and then a way to do the same to set 2020 up with more intention and heart. Listen in as I share how I approached these prompts and will guide you through them for yourself. I suggest listening to this episode as you have about an hour or more to journal, reflect and drink a glass of tea.

Today is a special episode! It’s just me and Im walking you through, in depth, how to choose, prepare, start, maintain and finish a big project well. I share my story and tips from completing the 100 Day Project this year and how you can complete your own project. This episode is SUPER practical and hopefully will help you be very successful in any project you do, no matter the size. This episode is actually a free lesson from my new course Stories From Here. Which is a course, based on my 100 Day Project, that helps you tell the story of where you live through photographs and stories. This can be a big project, so I want my students to be prepared to be successful at it and any other big project they tackle. To help you get started I have created a 5 day instagram challenge with prompts similar to the course prompts. 5 photography and 5 journaling prompts that will help you tell the story of your home, neighborhood and city. This is great practice for following through on a big challenge or project and a great sampling from the course. This week is another very important and special episode. I want this podcast to keep shining lights on women who are doing incredible things for the world and this episode is the perfect example of that. This week I am interviewing my, in real life, friend Abby. We taught a Zumba class together in Korea and I fell in love with her and her sweet family. They are kind, generous, selfless and oh so creative! Abby shares all about the creative process when it comes to expressing your creativity through dance. Her wisdom and words transcend all art forms and will inspire you to break a little more free in your creative work and be bold in your self expression. Abby talks about inspiration gathering, using your mistakes to grow, how to take on a new creative challenge (like dance) as an adult, and how creativity and dance helps heal our souls. She shares about their incredible plan to move to Nepal to be teacher trainers and to bring arts and healing to the community there.

We talk everything from communicating about your art and need for creative time to your family, giving yourself permission to feel your feelings, tapping into your soul and much more. Have a listen and then come hang out with us on instagram using the #howshecreates hashtag to let us know what you think!

How She Creates Challenge: This week we want to know: what does your soul need today? Our challenge is from Caroline’s great wisdom and intuitiveness, when you wake up in the morning ask yourself: what does my soul need today. It can be time to create, time to explore, time to get sh*t done! Anything. Spend a few moments of self reflection, see what your soul needs and then do the thing.
