This is an interview podcast where I cover a range of topics with a variety of experts. Hoping to cultivate curiosity and connection. “The greatest privilege of a human life is to become a midwife to the awakening of the Soul in another person.”
Here is my full conversation with German Philologists and Tolkien experts Richard Rohlin and Reno Lauro. We start off by delving into what is meant by "Canon" within modern stories. We also discuss the misunderstanding of the RoP show runners when it comes to light and darkness within Tolkien's legendarium.

I had a fantastic chat with political philosophy extraordinaire, Stephen Clouse. We speak about liberty, freedom and virtue as seen in the ancient world, contrasted with modern definitions. We also touch on the tension between logos and mythos, and what this tension looks like. Steven often says in the interview that I am being somewhat reductionists when I summarize his points back to him, but I needed to to comprehend these ideas! The phrase "Intellectual Dark Web," or IDW was coined 1year ago today. I spoke Jonathan Kay, the editor of the Canadian division of Quillette magazine about his latest article on the subject. Kay describes the IDW as a set of values and ideas, and that one of the highest values of IDW thinkers is a sensitivity of being told what to think. I found this conversation to be insightful and I rather enjoyed hearing his perspective

I discuss the ups and downs of twitter with software engineer John Mcglone. He shares with me his vision of what a healthy dialogue would look like in this and other social media platforms
In this episode I speak with Jaimie Castillas, a resident of Caracas, Venezuela. We speak about the history of Venezuelan politics, and how the country came to be in the place it is today. Jaimie also updates me on what life is like for those in the upper, middle and lower classes. This was filmed a few weeks ago to there are more developments, which I'd encourage you to look into. The country is not stable and many are dying as a result of this regime holding on for dear life.
I have been a fan of the Intellectual Dark Web since I first heard of them over a year ago. I liked what they had to say about free speech, and found they brought a voice to the silent majority. I saw Matt critique not just them but other ideas that I just took as fact, and I found his arguments to be well thought out. I found his tweets helped me to think more critically about why I believed something. I was curious about his perspective, and I wanted to understand his position better. Though we question and disagree with one another throughout this interview, he shed light on his point of view, and we still walk away as friends, seeing that there is nothing wrong with questioning ideas, which is what dialogue is all about. I really enjoyed talking with him

Steve mentions how he manages his gallstones through diet instead of surgery. This is not to be considered medical advice. It is simply his personal experience. Gallbladder disease is a serious issue that can lead to dangerous complications, including infection, and death, if left untreated. Any attempts to manage gallbladder disease through diet should be done under medical supervision. For many, too much damage has already been done, and the only option for treatment will be surgical removal.
