We Talk with Graphic artist and photographer Stephen Jensen (Part 2)
Stephen D. Jensen is known mostly for his work in the music and entertainment industries on album covers, packaging, guitar design, and artist photos. Stephen received his BA in graphic design at Columbia College of Chicago focusing mainly on graphic design, photography, and typography. Stephen’s style comes from a combination of unique photography, photo direction, and photo manipulation, and a strong sense of color, design, and typography. He also possesses a strong background in marketing and branding having helped with the visual identity of some of the biggest brands in the business. Stephen is known for his outside thinking often coming up with ideas and concepts that are not always the most obvious solution while also managing to be the perfect fit. He is very confident when taking on full projects, working from original concepts, sketches, photography, design layouts, through final presentation and production. But Stephen also shines as part of a strong creative team and works well with other designers and photographers that challenge his skills. With influences from the early art masters to his modern day peers, Stephen’s work balances elegance and precision with chaos and decadence. Some of his pieces offer deep concepts and photorealistic imagery, while others are studies in color, design, typography, and structure.

We talk with Concert Photographer, Brandon Scott Hanks
Born and raised in the Midwest (Indiana & Kentucky), I was inspired early on by music and always fascinated by the world of rock n roll. Allowing music to guide me from adolescence into adulthood, I hit a brick wall, needing to find a reason to keep going. Music was always the answer. Searching for ways to be around it and it’s people, I found myself learning concert photography from a Louisville concert pro. Years later I would go on to put over 500+ shows in my portfolio and now hosting a podcast with Alive N’ Loud Magazine called ‘Alive & Loud’, I find myself still searching for ways to give back to music what it have to me.

We talk with Breaking Benjamin Guitarist Keith Wallen
"Keith Wallen is a dynamic guitarist and vocalist, a passionate live performer, and a diverse songwriter. As guitarist and backing vocalist, he’s brought his tireless enthusiasm to Breaking Benjamin since the multiplatinum rock band’s 2014 reformation, appearing on Dark Before Dawn (2015) and Ember (2018), as well as countless worldwide tours.
As solo singer, songwriter, and performer, Keith explores everything from melancholy balladry to inventively reimagined pop music. He draws upon a deep well of experience and inspiration. His father was a ‘60s crooner and his mother was a professional dancer. He heard big band standards arouse the house. Quite simply, music (and the arts) are part of his DNA.
Wallen first enjoyed Active and Modern Rock radio success with the Knoxville, Tennessee based Copper, which he cofounded with a friend he’d known since first grade back in West Virginia. During his four-year stint with Las Vegas rockers Adelitas Way, which included two full length albums and three co-writing credits, Wallen found himself rubbing shoulders with tour and festival mates like Guns N’ Roses and Deftones.
With Wallen part of the reconfigured lineup, Breaking Benjamin’s powerhouse comeback album Dark Before Dawn debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2015 and went gold a year later. “The Diary of Jane,” a single from 2006’s Phobia, was certified triple-platinum in September 2019.
Beginning with his 2014 debut EP, Allies, Keith has used his solo work as a vehicle to explore his multifaceted passions, moving seamlessly from the smart pop of his ‘80s favorites like Tears For Fears and The Police to the big and moody riffs of Metallica and Alice In Chains. Subsequent singles explore everything from synth-pop to dark grunge.
As guitarist for Breaking Benjamin, a solo artist, and songwriting collaborator, the common threads through all of Keith Wallen’s work is honesty, authenticity, and heartfelt spirit.”

Part 2 of our interview with Helen Collen
Helen L. Collen is a theatrical/film costume designer, seamstress and wardrobe supervisor of 24 years. She is also a painter, crochet artist and writer (including poetry and songwriting). Having received her B.F.A in Costume Design from the acclaimed theatrical arts conservatory at S.U.N.Y Purchase College in Purchase, NY she is a recipient of both the Vivian Robinson Audelco Award and a New York City Mayoral Citation for Artistic Service. Before moving to Southern Orange County, California in 2010 her union memberships included I.A.T.S.E Local 764 (NYC), United Scenic Artists 829 (NYC), and I.A.T.S.E Local 487 (Baltimore, MD). Although Helen began taking photos for fun at 15 years old, she didn’t seriously dive into the craft until her wardrobe career began in 1996 in theatre and film. What started out as a routine archiving of costume continuity rolled into media still photography for Brooklyn, NY’s Billie Holiday theatre where for 15 years she also served as that theatre’s resident costume designer. Over the years her photos blossomed into dramatic live concert photos, colorful land, sea & skyscape canopies, and the hidden wonderment of everyday life. In keeping with her photographic motto “See Life” Helen’s photography has merely transferred the designer’s talents to the camera lens seamlessly creating visual tapestries that are specifically aimed at stimulating the senses and starting conversations…
