The unheralded Blazers defeat the Spurs in a game-7 that featured a Portland team that would eventually lose to the Detroit Pistons in the 1990 NBA Finals, against a young San Antonio team led by rookies David Robinson and Sean Elliott, along with veterans Terry Cummings and Rod Strickland. This win would begin a historic three-year Trail Blazer run that would see the franchise reach two NBA Finals with a core of unforgettable players featuring Clyde Drexler, Terry Porter, Jerome Kersey, Buck Williams and more fan favorites.
The Oregon Ducks, led by Fred Jones and sophomores Luke Ridnour and Luke Jackson, win a thrilling Sweet 16 game over Texas to advance to the programs first Elite 8. Texas, led by the dynamic T.J. Ford, came roaring back in the second half, only to be upended by a last second Jones bucket.

Oregon defeats Oregon State in one of the best played intrastate rivalry games in the teams' history. Chip Kelly caps his first year as head coach by leading the Ducks to the Rose Bowl against a Beaver team led by the dynamic Rodgers brothers, James and Jacquizz. Also, Legarrette Blount returns after sitting-out since game-1 for punching Boise State's Byron Hout in the aftermath of the Ducks' opening night loss.
The 2000 Oregon/OSU football game will forever be remembered as the Harrington five picks game, but ultimately it was a launching point for the most memorable Beaver football win in modern history...their Fiesta Bowl win over Notre Dame. Oregon was a win away from an undefeated Pac-10 season, Rose Bowl and a top-5 ranking, but Oregon State had other ideas and it played out in their favor.
The 2001 college football season will be remembered by most as the year of the Miami Hurricanes. But for Oregon fans it will be the year that their Ducks -- despite being ranked #2 in both the AP and Coaches polls -- were denied an opportunity to play for the national title by a Nebraska Cornhuskers team later rolled by Miami in the 2002 Rose Bowl. Oregon went on to play Colorado -- a team who destroyed Nebraska in the Big 12 Championship Game -- in the 2002 Fiesta Bowl, dominating the Buffs and figuratively posing the question..."who's really #1?"

Some losses hurt more than others, and Game 7 of the 2000 Western Conference Finals is one of those games. Portland led by as many as 16 points and 13 points to start the fourth quarter before an epic dry spell led to a painful end to an otherwise historic Blazer season.
